After playing this game for a while, it is clear that the programming does not allow you to win until you’ve either played the level many times or if you haven’t played the game in a while. After you win, it will let you win a few more levels before becoming impossible to beat again. You’re at the mercy of what the game allows, there is no true “strategy” to win other than to work with what you’re given and hope the game gives you what you need. It has nothing to do with how “hard” the levels are.

Plus, it used to save your game whenever you closed BestFiends which was appealing for people who just want to play when they have a short break from something instead of spending hours on their phone playing a game. Now, it will make you start over if a day or so has passed since you last played.

Please stop advertising this game as a “puzzle” when puzzles should always have a possible winning outcome. My ability to win is at the mercy of the way the game is programmed. Waste of time... I suggest downloading brain game apps that will actually make you smarter like Elevate. This game is just as mindless as the silly games involving candy. You shouldn’t encourage people to waste their time thinking they’re helping their brain function better.

King changed its in game shop recently to reorder and reprice its offerings, without disclosing that they were doing this. I’ve noticed this practice in other games they publish but this particular change is so extreme it’s hit the pain point. Looks like the price has close to doubled on some items. I was a fairly regular customer at previous (still not cheap) prices but this is off the charts and I’m gone. They won’t ever tell you that they’ve changed or what they’ve changed, perhaps in an attempt to see what revisions give them the highest revenues. For example, someone just had the bright idea of reversing listed prices so the most expensive item is now listed on the top and the cheapest on the bottom, when it was previously listed cheapest to most expensive, and I very much doubt they would ever refund you if you just clicked the old spot in error. Also they added to some of the items a few hours of what they call VIP time which essentially just removes ads, forcing you to buy this to get the same level of currency at what looks to be double the price. The tired argument they will make is that it’s marketing and they are not making you buy it. True, but that only gets them so far. They lost a smaller stream of revenue in an attempt to elicit a bigger one, and for me at least it pushes over to other of their games.

Why two stars you ask? Well, to ME it’s a bit boring. I would have rate this game a one star, but I know how much the developers worked, so I gave ‘em a star for effort. I know your probably saying this person is stupid for this review! But here me out. The ad is bad. I have suggestions, and my reasons. So first, don’t use two different people for your ad. I just makes the person think, “Oh! They obviously have a script and might not really feel that way. Their mom or family is probably NOT addicted to this game.” Second, I don’t think you should put a person to say it, because then it just makes it even MORE obvious that they have a script. Now your thinking, “Well, wouldn’t everybody’s day have a script; even when there is no person.” Yes, that’s true, BUT! It’s always a different feeling when you see somebody. Third, since you had two people do the ad, don’t use almost the same exact words. Choose different words! Use that opportunity to explain more about the game! Well, that’s all for the ads. Now, the game. Please, please, PLEASE, make it more interesting in the beginning. That’s how you catch attention. Second, well there is no second. The beginning of the game is a BIG role in the game. Now to the good things about the game. It’s better than other puzzles at least. If I download a puzzle game, I seem deleting it the next day. What can I say? Beating “evil” slugs can somewhat be fun! Try it out! See what I mean. Thanks for hearing me out, if you did.

I played this game for years, but stopped after the levels started getting too hard to beat without making purchases. But during the pandemic I started up again, and found it to be an addicting game once again. But over the last few months I’ve become more frustrated with the game than enjoying it. They are constantly popping up packages for me to buy, and often I have to click through seven or eight pop-up screens before I can finally start playing a level. And I can’t count the number of times I’ve been just one move away from beating a level, but yet run out of moves so I have to start all over again. It also has issues when it isn’t constantly connected to Wi-Fi. Being in New York and mostly playing on the subways, I’m in and out of coverage. The game doesn’t like this and has issues with saving my progress. I’ve lost gold and other extras and had to repeat levels I’ve already been, and if I close my phone in the middle of a game because I need to do something else, there’s a 50-50 chance that the game will just restart when I open it up again, losing any win streak I’ve built up. To make it all worse their customer service is not that great and quite repetitive when it comes to fixing issues I presented to them, they just keep sending me the same things to try that aren’t really related to my issue. So I am now on the hunt for a new game.

I don't know what it is with games these days, but the never-ending events have got to go. They end up making playing feel like a chore, and like I don't have much say in how I play the game, since pretty much everything I do revolves around completing tasks. I hoard keys, I don't level up fiends unless asked, I don't play lootballoon levels unless asked, I don't try for harder earthworm levels, I only play the fiends' quests when asked, etc. It's exhausting and demotivating. I spend most of a month frantically trying to finish all of the tasks (which now are thirty lists of three tasks each, instead of, like, ten lists of three tasks each). Then I get two days where I don't have to look at it, rinse and repeat. I'm starting to lose motivation.

I really, really like the mechanics of the game and the different daily events and special levels, but I just don't feel like I get to enjoy them. A few events a year should be plenty, and keep them feeling special. But twelve events in twelve months (for a total of 24 prizes) is excessive. I don't feel like I can play the events casually; either I'm going to try to get the prizes, or I'm just not going to play. I have deleted plenty of games before for this, because they just stop being fun. I'm nearing that point with best fiends. My heart just sinks every time a new event starts, and that's just not how I want to feel when I open a game I like.

The game would be five stars if not for that.

This game is totally rigged. Of course in the beginning, to get you hooked it lets you win all the easy levels, but as the levels increase, it purposefully makes you lose consistently. Then after several attempts, you suddenly win only to go back into the same cycle of loosing. There is no logic to how you win or lose. Even with strategy, the game will screw with your setups so you lose. I can tell just by looking at the layout of a level whether it’s going to let me win or not because the layout never looks the same even though it’s the same level. And my predictions are right every time. For instance, whenever I lose, the setup of charms are so scattered that it’s nearly impossible to create chains for a higher hit and I think to myself I’m never going to pass. But then after losing several times, the layout will suddenly not be scattered and have a bunch of charms already set up for a big blow making it super easy to win all of a sudden. That makes this game very questionable. This is not random, It’s definitely a pattern. It is as if the outcome is predetermined before I even start playing. I will continue to play this game to pass the time but the novelty has definitely wore of real quick with this realization and eventually I will delete.

It is a fun game to pass time. I’ve played it since it came out. But since that time the developers have moved buttons that didn’t require you to spend gold bars or buy things to buttons that do. You have to be mindful on each update. The epic critters are now $30 each? Meaning parents could drop $150 on an app???!? Sorry but that’s a hard no. I can go buy a couple of Xbox/PS games for that price AND take them to GameStop and get some money back. You can’t do that with apps. If you can’t use gold bars to get anything decent, there’s no point in collecting them during the game or buying them.
Even the 2020 Black Friday “sale” wasn’t worth it - you had to buy one just to see what the other two offers were, and they really weren’t anything different than the offers that are done daily. I’d like to see if they are even looking at analytics to see if anyone is even finishing the monthly challenges 100% cause unless you play this game 8 hours every day, you’re not going to get them.
I think there’s also a clear miss the developer should incorporate: It would be neat if they had an “info” card about the types of bugs & animals in the game so kids could see “oh this is what a axolotl or a Hercules beetle really looks like”. Connect with zoos or something to encourage learning about these bugs & spiders and turn fear into fascination.

On the most recent series i just want to say that them telling you you have 5 more days left to that series, after noting they keep changing the amount of days before 24 hours has passed! This is not legal and very unfair! Also if they are tanking us by wins,and you are not using paid for aids, your ranking is ALWAYS going to be lower. They charge tax on each purchase take days to place them on your bill and never group them if you made the purchase on the same day. I now play without aids and find that winning is just a matter of luck, the way they set up the board and eventually you will win it just takes playing until they provide a winnable board!

I like the challenge but dislike the dishonesty, if your giving us 14 days to win a series, make the days 24 hours. Mine went from 8 days to 5 in two legal 24 hour time increments, it was very obvious it was being played with and for someone who plays at the same tome each day, it was startling to become aware of it!!

The developers are CHEATS on something so little as giving you a certain amount of time to finish and then they adjust it! There is no time of day on the game, so my taking a photo is useless, it hides your time, on the phone, so again useless. I am a creature of habit so it’s my word against theirs they took time away from the game!

I like the game play dynamics and the challenge is great. Lots of things always going on to keep it fresh and inviting.

My biggest complaint is with the ads and especially that it now automatically takes you to BestFiends Store without pressing a button when you elect to view an ad. I thought it was my mistake but it will sometimes take you to BestFiends Store to check out the game or app you just watched and other times pops up an image that looks like BestFiends Store. It has done it every 2-3 times I view an ad so it isn’t a rare fluke but appears intentional. It’s already annoying that between nearly every round you have to exit out of the pop up pay to play ad they place but to have the ads you watch exit the program and take you to BestFiends Store is very frustrating and shouldn’t be allowed. They also make the adds where it can be hard to touch the x to close it so that it thinks you are clicking the ad to go to BestFiends Store too. So they get you to BestFiends Store many different ways much of them underhanded so that they can make their commissions on the “click through” to BestFiends Store page they get paid on.

I’d rate this game a 5 star were it not for the ads and their implementation of them.

I’ve enjoyed this game for the most part. Over time it’s become abundantly clear that there is some programming in the game that prevents you from winning at certain times. Once you get past level 1,000 it’ll take dozens of tries on a level to beat it. Then out of nowhere everything will line up perfectly and you’ll breeze through. This isn’t just random because each new level will then again take hours to beat and then magically you’ll get it to all line up perfectly. I get BestFiends has to make money but you kind of feel cheated because you realize that there is no possible way to beat that level other than playing it over and over until you get the “easier” layout. It is a fun game and definitely worth playing for a bit but I am frustrated that it’s not skill or strategy that gets you past levels in this game, it’s money and time.

I have a also noticed on many, many occasions that you will be extremely close to beating the level with 5+ moves left. All of a sudden the board goes dry. There are no colors or matches you need. Then you use your last turn and all of a sudden that play you were trying to attain for several turns magically shows up but now you have to pay 10 gold to continue. This isn’t random. It happens too frequently to be random. I think the game is programmed to do this and it’s sad that they use this to try to trick people into spending more money.

I have been playing Best Fiends for 2.5 years and it is my all-time favorite game. I could go on & on about the things I like about the game, but the things I don’t like are beginning to overcome the things I do like. In the past year the developers have become greedy and their efforts to manipulate players into spending their money, or hard won gold bars, have become increasingly obvious and overbearing, while the rewards within the game have become stingier and stingier. One must constantly upgrade their fiends to win levels and keep the game fun, which is fine. However, to do that one must win, or buy, meteormites, both yellow and blue ones. The game gives out yellow meteormites by the truckload (I have over 18 million which are mostly useless to me), and doles out blue ones by the teaspoon, making it difficult to upgrade the fiends. The solution? Spend money, or be prepared to spend a lot of time replaying each level until the game finally decides to let you win and move on. If one spends money, you get even more useless yellow meteormites, plus a few blue ones which spend very fast when you upgrade. This has sucked much of the fun out of the game for me. I guess I will go play one of the other games I downloaded from the ads.

I’ve been playing off and on for several years. It’s consistently good, and you only have to watch ads for keys or wheel spins, which is nice.
Here’s my one problem: if you’ve ever watched the South Park episode ‘Freemium’s Not Free’, you’ll understand the machinations of this game perfectly. 90% of the challenges can only be won if you’re spending money. And 99% of the time, the ‘Hard’ or ‘Very Hard’ levels are not difficult, they’re just hard or very hard to win because the required pieces to collect are not made available unless you’re buying extra moves. It’s clear that it’s intentional.
For example, if you need to collect 175 green leaves, the closer you get to the end of the provided moves, you’ll fewer and fewer green leaves get dropped. And if you run out of moves, and buy extra ones with gold (cash purchase required) you’ll (usually) suddenly get all the leaves you needed. Otherwise, you’ll play that level dozens and dozens of times, until you get that board where it’s almost too easy.
And some challenges (the board game, for one) absolutely cannot be won unless you’re buying the bonus bundles to move forward.
So I give it 4 stars. They lose the 5th star because of the obvious money grab attempts.

Wow! I heard this game from a ad that said that it’s not like any boring game like this one. It also has very cute creatures! I downloaded it like 1 month ago but it did not download til now! Ugh! I award so mad because it’s like one of the BEST GAMES I EVER PLAYED!!! If you going to download it do it now because it’s amazing!!! I usually have a headache because of these kinds of games but this one is not giving me one! That means it’s very fun! It’s so addicting! They don’t even say it’s harder than it looks in the ads ( all other games that say that have very easy lvls)! It has very easy or hard lvls so you don’t get bored! I am not joking this game is not bad but their ads and game tells the truth about the game! If that does not make sense I mean it is one of the few games that tell the truth about the game. Ugh I hate the ones that say “earn real money and some people got some last week” even if they had the same add like 10 times every month. They also said “harder than it looks” but it is no easy and the ad is just being stupid. Plus the lvls are also VERY easy!!! This game is the best!!!

I have spent probably $200 plus buying gold over time months I have been playing the game. Occasionally I get stuck trying to beat a level for a couple of days. A lot of times I could get past it, but sometimes I would give in and spend the gold. Well I just got to level 1000. They changed the game play. Now you have to beat 5 levels before you will get keys?? But what really killed it for me is that I have not been able to get past a single level without using gold. And I am not talking about just 10 bars for 5 moves. I am having to use multiple bars at each level. The last two levels I have dropped probably 50 bars, or 25 extra moves. I am MORE THAN DONE. I didn’t mind spending money here and there. But I REFUSE to spend money every time I try to play a level. I will be using the rest of my gold and deleting this game. I guess you think that by this level you have people good and hooked, but you just ruined it for me. You will never get another penny from me and I will never download another of your games. I AM DONE!!!

I’ve loved this game from the time when you guys were just starting out. Everything about it. The characters, giving of extra moves, and game structure. This is not like candy crush. This is not a rip-off version of Tetris. This is a unique style of puzzle games. Those negative reviewers have never been around with this game as long as anyone like I have. I do agree that the one advertisement with the lady that knocks on the screen is a bit annoying, but that doesn’t change the way I feel about this game. It’s helped me cope with stress by distracting me and eventually forget that I was ever upset. I have just one suggestion: making getting extra moves a little bit easier.. maybe when the player has a difficult time, (say they play one level over 5 times and they don’t complete it) the game would let the player have one or two lives added to the level, so they could get that chance of winning it. I mean, it’s a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️.
All in all, I enjoy playing this game, and I look forward to newer updates and that this game is available for the next generations to come.

I have EVER PLAYED. I don’t have to spend a penny even though it advertises me too, but it also gives me a chance to disconnect from my phone and pick it back up again when I am ready. I haven’t beaten the game yet, but I am enjoying each level. There are some levels that are much more challenging than others, but that is what keeps it entertaining. I don’t want to play a game that I can easily win and just breeze through all the levels. I can thoroughly enjoy this game and get through the levels on my time. The creatures are super adorable, I love the spinner feature that reloads every 10 minutes by watching an ad of two, and I enjoy playing the game. Again, I don’t play every hour or every second of every day — this game gives me an opportunity to miss playing and something to look forward to when I have a quick minute to myself. It also keeps my children entertained when at a doctors appointment are waiting at the grocery store, and my children range from three to eleven. This is a well thoroughly written out game, and I’m thankful for this game. Finally a game I can enjoy without spending a fortune!

I downloaded the game because I kept seeing it in almost every ad i had in other games and wanted to see what the hype was about, but i got this game 2 maybe 3 weeks ago and now I'm on level 238! It is SO addictive :) kudos to the creators of this fantastic game! Some of the levels were hard to beat and sure, I probably tried throwing my phone at the wall in frustration but in the end it would make me more determined to beat it. Plus the daily events and longer events keep me going. You cant get me started on how fun it is to win but also nice to lose cause you still get an reward. Plus this game has the least amount of ads I’ve seen and the wheel is fun especially if you have vip. I haven’t bought vip with real money yet but i do keep winning it. Its good there so many things you can do. Such as upgrading your adorable fiends and unlocking boxes and trying to be first to see who wins the most challenges in an event. This game is amazing and I’ve gotten my grandma addicted too. This review is all over the place but thats because this game is SO overwhelming but the good kind🥰 Much love to the amazing people behind this fiendtastic game!! Sorry that was bad...

This game is amazingly fun I thought it would actually be the same as all the other puzzle games but it really isn’t there are no issues with the game nothing is missing it is just fantastic is all I can say it is so amazing that I even I wish there were series of this game so I could download it and get even cuter and a different type of enemy but still kinda continue on with the characters I had before because THERE SO CUTE but some are cuter than others well anyway the game is amazing, fantastic, awesome, cool, relaxing, and fun so people who say it has some type of problem they are wrong in my opinion so I say don’t listen to them or even read it so you got me there and if the creators are reading this I have a suggestion to add to the game not that the game is bad cause you know it is not in my opinion but I was thinking they could add a spot to just like just play with your fiends like a little playground area to play with them and it is just a suggestion you don’t have to do it but I think it will help people want to play it if you mention that in your adds too. But the game doesn’t have adds. So sorry it was long and I hope you accept my suggestion thx!

I tried BestFiends after seeing the commercial on tv and I am not disappointed!! Of all of the games I’ve tried, this game keeps you moving, and doesn’t slow down your game with ads and sales. They do sell you bundles and things of course, they have to earn money some way, but will be honest and tell you this is the first game I have spent any money in.... but the deals are so cheap and you get so much.... you don’t have to spend any money at all for the game to be fun and it moves very quickly, and there are TONS of opportunities to win free stuff so you don’t ever get bothered for money, and this was the biggest plus for me. For real tho, the game is so fun with cute cartoon bugs, mazes, bad guys etc and a game set up much like RPG where you can power up one of your five characters on the board at the start of every game. There are 138 kinds of characters to collect, I just started playing today and already have nine!! Try this game. You will not be disappointed, and I think with everyone staying indoors lately due to current global situations, this game will help while the time away. Sorry, I have to go round up some more slug bandits. Y’all take care now!!👍🏻👍🏻💗

Ok, after playing this game since 2014, I think I can honestly say that this is one of the absolute best games you can download for your phone or tablet. Game play is creative, simple and challenging all at the same time. Collecting, improving and using your Fiends adds depth, and makes you really play around to find the perfect combo for each level. Plus, the constant trickle of new fiends keeps you coming back to complete your collection. I really appreciate that you can buy items and watch adds for bonuses if you want, but they don’t force it down your throat or make it mandatory to progress. Hats off to the developers, they really hit it out of the park with this one!!

After reading multiple reviews about how the game is rigged to make you buy gold because the levels are too hard or things similar to that, I just want to say that it’s not true. I’ve passed more than 2100 levels without paying a dime. If you can’t get past a level in less than 10 or 15 tries then your fiends are either not leveled up enough or you’re using the wrong ones. You should expect levels to get harder the further you go and this game does it without being cruel

I like the gameplay for the most part, but many of the levels are way too hard. Right now the ads are also pretty bad for the wheel spins as the large majority are essentially three ten second ads you have to click through. A rather big issue for me is the time frame for events as well. Some may have a good length of around a month while others are only a day. The events which last one day also offer the best rewards but require the most time to complete. I don’t know who has the time to finish 30 new levels within 24 hours let alone finish half of them back to back without failing. My biggest issue and the main reason for the two stars is the absolutely ridiculous price of other characters. Some of the fiends require you to pay real money for, and it’s not just five or even ten dollars, but often $20 to $30. This is absolutely ridiculous and I’m amazed that the price is so high. You can’t even grind for them either, you HAVE to buy them. This is somehow even worse than EA. Who in their right mind would ever pay $30 for one character in a mobile game. I sincerely hope this gets changed because it’s the biggest issue holding the game back. I’d like to experience the whole game but can’t because of absurdly priced paywalls. Until these issues are fixed though, I’m uninstalling and sincerely suggest no one gets this game due to the scummy business practices shown.

Ok so I’m going to say this in a short little paragraph (Maybe). For starters I only got this game a couple minutes ago so I may just write another later on as I continue to have this game. So since here’s the tea 🍵. I was playing my other game and what not and I get an ad of this game a lady saying “yes yes YOU!” Pointing to me trying to persuade me to download the game (like all ads) I read some of the reviews and most of them were good I only saw about 3 one or two star ones. So I downloaded the game and it was exactly like the review I read fun addicting and the characters were cute! I was loving the game so far. I am on level 9 right now which is we’re it all started. So I had fought off all of the slugs 🐌 (my goal) but it didn’t exit me out of it. It made me keep playing as if it was candy crush so right after I finished off all my moves it said LEVEL FAILED. This upset me very much because I was so confused I finished my level and met my goal. So since I only got this game a couple minutes ago I just wanted to inform you about this because I didn’t really want this to happen again 😐. So I probably will right another review because I only got this game a couple minutes ago. I honestly love this game very much besides that minor glitch. This game has A LOT of potential and I totally just got hooked on it! I hope to see better improvements to make this game even more enjoyable

First off, I gotta say that this is my second review for this game. I’ve been playing for about two years now (I think, that’s what it feels like anyway) and the game has yet to get old or stale. They are constantly updating content and challenges, and the new leader board feature shows you how you stack up against other players. I have NEVER spent a dime purchasing gold bars or other “offers” (though I have been tempted!), and have beaten all of the main levels and am currently over 500 levels into the Hero stages, so purchases DEFINITELY are not required to win.

The only gripe I have is that sometimes, when logging back in, the game changes my selected Fiends (and yes, I have turned off the auto-Fiend select option), and when I logged in today, almost all my gold was gone. I have the game installed on both my iPhone and iPad, but my iPad has been off for weeks with a cracked screen, otherwise I would have thought my kids had messed with the game. I’m glad I didn’t pay for the gold, but I did work hard for it. This may be a glitch that needs looked into with the latest update.

Otherwise, a fabulous game that I can’t seem to stop playing. Good job guys.

I concur with the precious reviewers in their critcism of the game. I continue to play because I like the fiends jumping up n down. It is too complicated without explanations of why and what to do. Using the help is no help. Then when I figure some rules out they change those rules, which is cheating. In addition the game is a borage to buy aids to help me win and bad adverts. As of now I play not to win but to remain calm in an unnecessary complicated rigged world of fiends and slugs. Not unlike reality.
