Good idea, poor execution. The most glaring problem is the “sync” feature, which is not synchronization at all. You must manually go to settings and either choose to upload or download data. Both options replace all data, so if you download, any local changes are lost. If you upload, any changes on other devices or in the cloud that have not been downloaded are lost. Better to have nothing at all, the way it is implemented now is a recipe for data loss.

A massive omission is the inability to add visited places (cities, etc) instead of just regions.

Then there is an array of quirks. The choice of map projection is quite odd (Greenland is NOT larger than South America, it’s only about 1/4 the size of Brazil). Some region maps are oddly selected - too coarse or missing in some, too fine in others (98 in Denmark vs only 22 for France), simply bizarre for others (why use out of date administration boundaries for France, which no one uses, vs historical regions or modern departments, which everyone knows?). User interface is clunky. Region maps can’t be zoomed much, and there is no extra data (roads, cities) on the map to help you figure out which of the bizarre regions you’ve been to.

This is my favorite app to track the places I’ve traveled to. What I especially love are the region maps for many of the countries/territories that allow you to mark off exactly which provinces/states/regions etc. you’ve been.

What I would love to see in the future is a way to switch the world map projection (Europe looks a bit off compared with Asia and Africa). Additional region maps would also be amazing. Overall, great work!

Rarely do u write a review, but this is an AMAZINGLY convenient app for a world traveler. You can find everything you need here, or select subset of features to use. Also, you can easily upload the info to the cloud to use on other devices. Natural support of larger tablets (like iPad). Amazing customization. BRAVO, developers!

I travel a lot and love maps. I had been searching for a good map to show off the places I've been and his is the best I've seen by far. I get excited when I enter a new country and can bring up the map to check it off. The only thing that bugs me about the map is that it's a Mercator projection, I hate that map projection, and would like the option to change projections maybe to the Eckert 5 or similar projections that is more true to country size.

I downloaded a couple of similar apps, and this one is definitely my favorite. Most importantly, the developers do listen to the users. I left a message on Instagram asking them to consider adding world heritage site list into MarkOTravel , and then they did in this new version. Awesome, thanks for the work.

I don’t like how you have to zoom in and click on the small countries, I tried to click on Barbados and it took me forever, I wish there was an easier way I could just write the country down or select from a list and it could automatically just show up on the map, instead of me having to click on it manually on the map

An easy and fun way to track my travels! I love being able to easily manage destination lists as well as having a visual to easily see where I’ve been. I highly recommend MarkOTravel !

Checked out several apps to track the countries/regions I have visited, and Mark O’Travel is the best I have found.

Easy to use, and a simple map showing countries we have spent time in. At 80+, MarkOTravel makes it easy to track.

If you've ever wanted to keep track of where you've been this is your last stop.
All nations and Traveler's Club settings for including various territories and disputed areas. Also all U.S. states and Canadian provinces, as well as most other nations if you can spare a dime. Great app.

I love MarkOTravel it’s pretty what I was looking for but there is still room to improve. I think it’s a much better idea to use the cities instead of states... I recommend MarkOTravel if you are into travel

Hello! I love MarkOTravel. However, deeper color for regions you’ve spent more time in (rather than the # of visits) would be great, as would seeing the region map of countries when viewing the whole world! thanks

In most cases it is easy to add a country you have visited - just tap on it and add. However, it seems to be impossible to add very small countries, like the small island nations of the Caribbean. I’ve searched for help to find an alternative method to add these small countries, but to no avail.

MarkOTravel is truly essential for my travels and is the easiest travel app i could find out of all the other apps on MarkOTravel store. the one-time purchase to unlock all of the premium features MarkOTravel has to offer is cheap and easy, and everything is extremely manageable to view and to track things in. amazing app, would recommend 100%.

I payed for both USA & Canada maps to get states and provinces but they never loaded into MarkOTravel :( not sure if i got scammed but from the looks of it... :/

Easy to use. Nice graphics. Can add lots of details about each visit. Export data to a PDF file. Only negative is that you can only track one person with this application.

I really love MarkOTravel ! Only thing I have noticed is that when I try to change the name of color group it reverts back to what it was originally as other. Not sure if it’s a glitch but other than that it’s perfect!

The traveler bundle is all at once but I get that it is 10$
But why can’t you create everything in its own bundle

I purchased a new iPhone XS and when I open MarkOTravel it did not transfer the places I visited nor did it restore my purchase. I purchased MarkOTravel the day before I decided to purchase a new phone. So now if I want to add places visited it wants to charge me $3.99 again!! Very disheartening that MarkOTravel does not allow you to restore a purchase.

New to MarkOTravel and trying to dial it in. So far it seems good. I like how you can add photos and notes to the places that you’ve visited. I’m traveling through several states so I will update as my trip progresses.

Best App out of the 5 I tried on the AppStore. I like the visual, the setting where you can alter the country colors within a region, and it’s quick and easy to search and select your list quickly.

Only improvement suggestion ... Small island nations say in Caribbean are not on the regional list and you have to individually search for, and even after that, they do not show up as a spec on the map (but they do account in your country count). Please fix this with updates.

Was disappointed to find after paying to unlock all maps that the maps only have blocked out regions to select for some (not all) countries. There are no cities or other details at all visible on the maps. So if you’ve traveled in countries and know which cities you visited, but did not happen to memorize the region each city was in, you have to research that separately before selecting the region in MarkOTravel. Not exactly user friendly.

Good app to track countries. Don’t waste your money paying for the extra maps.

Love it!!! Love looking back and seeing where and when and the pictures. Keeps the dates for me and everything. Love it!
