Love this app...but needs some changes
I absolutely love this app!! I downloaded a lot of mindfulness apps and this is my favorite. The only complaint I have is the voices and recordings could be done a lot better. Some of the recordings it’s easy to hear the speaker turn on and off the microphone. At least add a little music in the background to lessen that. Also, some of the voices are just not good voices for mindfulness. The app itself is amazing and by far the best I found especially for learning mindfulness! I hate to even take off a star... but the fact is... it could definitely be improved upon. Please don’t let this app just ‘be’. Make it even better because it’s an amazing tool in recovery!! I am a veteran and my therapist suggested this app for me.
Developed To Help PTSD for US Military - Best Mindfulness App Out There
This app was developed for helping military personnel suffering from PSTD - it is a very well thought through easy to use teaching & practice aid. Does as much & probably more than several other paid apps I have used for meditation & mindfulness - guess it is a paid app via US taxes but free from the App Store - can’t understand why anyone would pay for anything else when this is available and it is unbelievable it is for FREE
I can’t believe how this app has helped me with experiencing love and being present. Most of us vets with PTSD and emotional issues have with focus and issues simply being present. This has really helped my love for people and with being present and not focusing on issues that are over. I do it at lunch in my car after I pray everyday and people can really see how calm and present I am.

Visual and/or audio! Body scan is great, I use it when I need help falling asleep!! Breathing tool (9minutes) is by far the best I've found for daily/nightly relaxation!!! Many other meditation options available on this free app for ANYONE to use!!!! Remember, you can modify your positions to fit your needs. The breathing says to sit, but I lay. The body scan is longer, so depending on what I need it for (meditation or sleeping), I sit or lay down.
I’ve just started using this app and I am quite familiar with meditation. I don’t understand why most of the meditations have you sitting in a chair. I’m more comfortable and use to meditation done on the floor. I would go ahead and use the floor anyway, but the speaker continues to speak of the floor. I find it hard to believe that users are giving this app a five star when it does not earn it. I have books that I will use instead, but I thought it would be nice to use an app that would keep track of it. What a shame!
THE BEST MEDITATION APP
Hands down the best mindfulness app. No gimmicks, no fees or subscriptions, no ads. Just Pure, instructive life changing mindfulness. Only thing i would say to the developers, could you please create an organization/filter for the practices tab. When you download the iRest files they are supposed to be listened to in order, but you can’t because they get all mixed up. Could you please fix this?
New App Is Worthless!!!
Update: I see that no one else likes the new update as well!!! And so very true about NO APP SUPPORT! I tried the same thing that was posted in another review... there is NONE! So typical of the VA, change it, post it & walk away! No follow-up to anything or anyone! I’m a 100% disabled vet from the Gulf War & this was my go to app when things started to become overwhelming and/or I just needed to stop and regroup my thoughts. It’s truly a shame that they have taken what was a free great app for us Veterans & anyone else to use and have ruined it!!! None of my existing data was transferred over! Now you have to go through all the levels!!! Lastly, I’m unable to import my own music for “Mindful Listening!!! I will not be using this app anymore! It used to be great & I used it almost everyday, sometimes more than once - not anymore. Just one more thing that the VA screwed up & never asked us veterans if there was a way to make it better... what a joke!!!
Needs more to do
Its a good idea to have the tree growing and stuff but a lot of it is reading little paragraphs about what stuff means (like what mindfulness means and how you can be more mindful etc.) and there are things where you sit down and a lady talks and stuff but the only thing I actually use it for is the goals. They have a thing where you write in goals and then you say what % successful you were at completing your goal. So it’s a good idea but it needs more things to do. Thanks!!!
This app is a great tool for learning about mindfulness, and just to be a more relaxed person in general. My therapist recommended it for me, she found out about it from doing her clinical rotations in the VA. I think it’s great! It’s very thorough, has good features, and it’s free with no in-app purchases required!! And no advertisements!! They recently renovated the app completely, and it’s even better than it was before.
Simple and great
This is the best app out there and it’s completely free. This app has helped me with my emotional problems and established good daily mindfulness practice in my life. I wish that other mental health and general wellbeing apps would take a lesson from this one. Getting help shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls and monthly subscriptions. Thank you for the great app!
Unique app. I chose it because it was recommended for veterans and I liked that I could track my progress. Meditations can include a guided introduction or not, as you choose. Each day there is a lesson on a new way of being mindful. I wish there were more trainings, and that I could continue tracking, but I can still use the practice sessions. Otherwise I wouldn’t have given 5 stars
Trying to understand
The interaction between my body and my mind, in these stressful, anxious times .. particularly as I have plenty of time almost hiding out in my apartment ... so when I tried this it has helped me reach a calmness. I practice and then go back and start again. It gets easier to focus with practice. Cudo's to the VA.
I wanted to try something like this for a while... but was overwhelmed with too many options. Someone recommended this app to me and it has been a truly helpful resource! It is easy to understand and navigate and has really been beneficial for me! It’s a must have for me!
I love this app. This is the first review I have done for an app. I try to use this app on a daily basis. I try to tell everyone about this app. I love that they have the tree that grows. It is like a little positive reinforcement. I know it sounds silly but it’s satisfying. I hope you enjoy this app as much as I do.

Despite the fact that this app is geared toward service members, this app is universal. It is quite user friendly and is as informative as it is interactive. I would continue to use this by myself and in conjunction with therapy.
