Decent

I wish it gave you more options for other chord progressions WHILE inside the key you want. It only gives you three variations and it doesn’t show what the progression is, such as I-IV-V and so on. It’s clean and neat and it has a bunch of other progressions based off mood which can be fun to try out but I feel if you’re actually trying to write a song and already have the idea of what chord you want to at least start with, this only gives you a few ideas. It would also be nice to have chord variations not just the main bar chord or open chord. Overall better than most others tho and lastly I’m not quite sure what we get to upgrade

relative scales

awesome app except when you want to change a minor scale chord progression into the "major version" (or vice versa) it offers to do so using the relative major key - but doing so results in a parallel transposition to that key rather than a relative one. This means , for example, when going from a minor key to a major key, VII becomes vii° rather than V - which sounds very bad. perhaps the goal is to allow the user to experiment, but there really should be a relative transposition offered if there's going to be a parallel one.

Solid! Helpful.

Autochords shows you in the most simple way what Chords you can use in any given key. Major and minor, which I really dig. However, the chords are not complete and I feel a section with intermediate chords should be added. You wouldn't want to teach someone that the 5 chord in C maj was a straight G maj. And that the 7th chord is just a B...doesn't say maj or min, in fact it's a diminished. It's right in the last slider but in the progressions it's listed as a "Bb" and the fretboard shows a major chord...amirite? Looking forward to dev!

Very solid

I like Autochords quite a bit. It’s easy to use. It makes experimenting with some simple progressions pretty easy. It also has simple music tools to refine your ideas a little. But with anything that’s cool, the more I use it, the more I want more out of it. I think the developers could add some functionality to Autochords without bogging it down in too many complications. After all it’s simplicity is, I think, it’s greatest asset. However, I think adding a few things for the Pro users like longer chord progressions, adjusting chord inversions, custom chords, linking multiple progressions in a play back (i.e. selecting two to three progressions and having them play back to back in loop), would take Autochords to the next level.

Finally... one I use as a newbie.

I may not be totally using Autochords "correctly"... but it works for me. I started using it to show chord progressions I can practice. I can do it In every key for both major and minor... and # or b. For different progressions. You can practice without Autochords.... but is nice to have a tool to help you help learn transitions between chords. While maintaining a consistent strum of my choice. Very useful. This tool is probably not as fancy as some other things... but sometimes you don't want fancy. You want easy. Originally I thought I wanted Autochords to have fancier strumming... but now I don't. I like the once at each change... and remaining easy. Although it would nice to have an option to have it show all barre... versus easiest fingering. Or maybe have it let you choose entire alternative fingering for any chord.

Simple but stimulating

Unlike other progression apps, this can be mastered in a few minutes! And yet it contains a lifetime of progession options to work on once you desire to leave the I-IV-V straight-jacket. And all chords are clearly marked, along with all notes of the related scale...major, minor, etc. There is no way to fill in with bass or drums, but this keeps it clean and simple, and leaves the rest up to Garage Band.

Love love love!

Absolutely love this little guy! I am a full time musician and this is such a great app. If I want to put together a chord progression really fast to write a song it’s super easy. I can also just let it play while I work on lyrics. Love that it shows all the notes for the chords as well.

Y’all win with this app!

This is so intuitive and simple.

I can see that you’ve thought through all the details, down to the fact that I can play it in the background, and even with the screen off.

Thank you!!!

Jump starts your creativity 👍🏻

App is easy to use and has much functionality - extremely helpful in getting ideas to happen.

Wish list: ability to create using more than 4 chords at a time and AUv3 would be complete.

You MUST get this

As a professional musician sometimes you get stuck in a couple of keys that you comfortable with and do T want to spend time transposing to different keys. You can do that in one tap and then airdrop the midi to your DAW… I’ve increased my workflow speed 1000x
It’s also great if your practicing new scales…
Must get this…

Super great

I use Autochords to jam on the ukulele, and although it doesn't show chord info for my instrument, Autochords is wonderful. It's easy to use, reliable, the colors are great (I just bought the pro version for dark mode and I love it!). Bringing the shuffle button back was a great idea, too. For anyone who loves making music but doesn't know much music theory, this is the perfect app!

Amazing! This is Just what I was looking for.!

I was a former sax player in college and also tickled the ivory on occasion, back in my day. I hadn’t played in decades and was more than a little rusty to say the least. Autochords is so well thought out, simple to use and elegant. The two drop down menus for tempo and key signature are very convenient. The chord variation dial one of my favorite features. Nice touch with the keyboard on the screen displaying the actual fingering, with you can change with the variation dial. I’ve had no complaints! And I almost forgot to mention, the the list at the bottom of Autochords c
Showing all the chords that can be played in that key. Fantastic guys! Keep up the great work! Stay safe and thanks again. We are all enjoying our piano nights again.

Immaculate.

I love Autochords. It’s perfect for finding chord progressions for songs. I think they’re underselling themselves a bit. I think you should pay 5 dollars for Autochords , not just for premium. I also love how there isn’t a dumb subscription, its just a one time payment. I absolutely love Autochords and will continue using it.

Songwriters Tool! Finally...

Find your intent and chord progression. It's so easy to find and create your raw sound with Autochords. Find chords in different keys and even set your tempo. (If you want to improvise a time-key or rhythm you can tap on notes in app and record on other audio device to lay your raw idea.) Thank you for creating this wonderful app!!! This is exactly the tool I have been searching for, and for some time.

Amazing! Has potential to be even better!

I write music but don’t always have my guitar with me when inspiration strikes. I love the ability to save chord progressions and share them.

I can arrange and better understand what I’m writing because it displays the chords and key. I can also sing along and match the chords. I instantly knew how I would use this.

I just got it so I may not have seen these features but it would be great if the following was possible.

-rearrange chords in the progression or record function and tap them individually and save it.

- ability to add notes (text) for ideas such as lyrics or song structure.

Either way it’s awesome. I paid for this and no one asked me to write this. It’s worth $5 for sure!!

Love it!

I went on Apple and spent three days downloading every music app I could find help utilize as a teaching tool. This by far is my favorite one, hands-down. It took me a while to figure out how to make your own progressions, but after messing around with it, you can label them, name them and save it directly to your phone or whatever piece of hardware your using.
I like the fact that it will pick popular progressions and you can change it to seven chords if you like. I’d like to see a few changes but for someone who wants to use it for practicing it’s awesome.

Perfect

As an Artist and Producer who plays by ear, Autochords is perfect for helping me hone in on specific emotions I’m trying to convey through music. It gives me chords and ideas I can build on and haven’t thought about yet. It’s definitely my go-to when I need to get out of the block, and I need a spark plug to get things going. Not only does Autochords provide endless chord progressions based on moods and keys, but the ability to change the playback from guitars to pianos or ukuleles helps to inspire ideas as well. I’ve had Autochords for years. I highly suggest purchasing Autochords and getting full access. You can’t go wrong with this one.

Pretty good songwriting tool

Autochords is pretty good, it can help one get “unstuck” if their experiencing writers block or feeling uninspired. Pick a key, tempo, and mood/genre, and see if you like what you’re hearing. Don’t get too hung up on the names of the genres, it’s all subjective. It’s all easy to use, and I like that you can save your favorite progressions. My critiques are thus:
- sharing a progression via messages doesn’t work- it just sends a graphic of an audio file but no audio file.
- the guitar setting needs the chords to sustain longer, like the piano setting.
- it would be cool if you could record a simple audio track in Autochords to jot down melodic ideas.
- the alternate progressions within a genre change keys, and don’t quite fit with the previous one, so it won’t really generate a chorus to complement a verse, or whatever you’re using these chord progressions for.

Otherwise it’s a good enough app to aid with songwriting. It’s kind of like GarageBand’s this app in a stand-alone app.

The update is mint. Thank you.

... Always hesitate to update things because I'm a true American (skeptical). So I just got around to hitting update and thank goodness I did. The layout and chord sounds are so simple and easy to navigate on Autochords . The songs write themselves as they always do but now it's so much easier since I found Autochords; you guys at this app kickass. It's a tease looking at the PRO titles, I'm sure to upgrade someday with what technology has done for opening doors, so eventually I'll check out the pricing. So hey, thanks! And if you all want me to rock any hats or shwag of yours I'll do at my 7-9 gigs a month you have made so much better to perform at. See you all at the top. #AdamUp #AdamUpMusic

Autochords

I had heard about Autochords on Andy wasserman’s guitar lesson and decided to check it out. I was very pleased. It helps me get acquainted with the different chords and their derivatives. I just started but I anticipate that it will help me execellerate my knowledge of chords on all frets and strings. Great product! I have already recommended it to a friend.
