Fuelpak FP3 Reviews

Believe this - it is my first ever review of a product. That should ring a few bells right away.

This product worked on the first day. I have to say, I was happy to program my new V&H SS exhaust.

First forward a week later - the Bluetooth disconnects after 2 seconds. I’ve tried using my home WiFi / wireless connection without any success

I’ve literally gone as close as possible to the fuel pack for the best possible chance of connection with no success.

I’ve noticed this company sends out updates once in while (I wish I checked this before buying).
Apple/android updates their software rapidly. V&H needs to keep up.

Conclusion, (1) don’t waste $400 unless you have multiple upgrades that can be process at once; That way you don’t have to worry about the next time. (2) or don’t waste your money on this overpriced; so far, garbage.

I will be calling tomorrow for my money back.

As soon as my BT connects to the FP3, I open FuelpakFP3 and FuelpakFP3 itself kicks off the connection from the FP3. So my phone will connect in settings but FuelpakFP3 itself can’t talk to the FP3. Terrible connectivity bug right now. Waste of $400 purchase at this point.

FuelpakFP3 has promise, but unfortunately it won’t sync with my phone. Bluetooth connects just fine, but as soon as you open FuelpakFP3 , the entire thing resets and won’t ever let you into the maps.

FuelpakFP3 is virtually unusable. Every time I try to do anything with it, the APIs time out, or it can’t find a server, or it won’t download something. I have not even been able to download a MAP yet. This is maddening.

Update: I finally got this finicky thing working, but under VERY SPECIFIC CONDITIONS!!

1. Your phone has to be connected to Wifi. No exceptions.
2. You have to be within 1 foot of the unit for bluetooth to reliably work.

Wait, WHAT?! Most people don’t have wifi that extends to their garage, and on a very basic usability level, this is garbage. Why can the servers not be communicated with if you’re on cellular data???? For me having a detached garage where wifi was not available, troubleshooting this nuance was downright insanity. You guys need to figure this out.

The developers of FuelpakFP3 can’t keep up with the iOS updates. It seems like whenever one gets pushed out, something happens like FuelpakFP3 crashes, can’t connect to Bluetooth or wireless. This is unacceptable at this day in age.

App was great until the latest iPhone update. Now every time I try to open FuelpakFP3 it crashes. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

Always been happy with the staff, but it’s been months and still no way of taking the governor off. Endless patches and tunes sent to me and no fix yet.

Not allowing FuelpakFP3 to operate because the bikes firmware revision isn’t up to sate is not cool. This has happened to me twice while out on the road, I don’t want to update firmware while out on the road for changes that don’t effect my bike. I can understand not allowing any changes or auto tuning unless the firmware is updated but using the sensor view should be allowed under any circumstance.

For a basic stage one tune it’s really all you need. But if you plan on going further it’s limited. It’s glitchy sometimes, especially with the auto tune but what do you expect when it’s used through your phone. They really need to put out a good manual for this product. But like I said it’s a stage one tuner and that’s really all they expect it to be and why I say it’s a basic tuner. I wish it had the ability to data log, but since it don't you’re really flying blind. IMO spend a few xtra bucks and get a TTS. So much more versatile.

Decided to go with a custom air cleaner and 2:1 exhaust for my 2016 Ultra Limited. Put the air cleaner and fp-3 on, and found that the tuner didn't have a map closer to mine. Went with a similar one, and the bike ran like crap. Wouldn't even idle, to stop the bike had to keep on the gas.

Reset everything, and tried a different tune, and it was, magic! Rode 300 miles stopping every hour and applying the tune. The bike is running great, and the gas mileage had gone up a little.

Looking to add the exhaust next week, and another running session.

I mount my phone to my bars and monitor the bikes oil temp with FuelpakFP3 , every time I ride. And my problem is that I’m constantly forgetting my phone in the mount, sometimes for hours, only to find it exactly where I left it... in the bar mount and STILL UNLOCKED.

Love the FP3, love FuelpakFP3 , but for gods sake please revise it to allow the phone to lock after the Bluetooth connections been broken.

It’s one thing to lose your locked phone, at least then you have time to remotely wipe it before it’s cracked and your personal data is compromised. And it could be a complete nightmare to have your unlocked phone fall into the hands of those that wish to do you harm. For real, these days your life basically depends on your phone not falling into the wrong hands.

PLEASE CHANGE FuelpakFP3 TO ALLOW IPHONES TO LOCK ONCE THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTIONS BEEN BROKEN

I love the simplicity of FuelpakFP3. However, when trying to find the right cam for my sportster, I only have 5 or so choices. I am aware that I can have a custom tune made but I believe that There should be a lot more selections to choose from. I have Andrews N4 grinds for the sportster by the way.

Truly a must have. But a few improvements needed:
1. Option to NOT check for Firmware updates on launch.
2. Option to save maps to device.
3. Option to post map pic when posting to Facebook.

Works great!! The only thing FuelpakFP3 should add is history for your bike, so you can view the latest configuration without being connected to the tuner. You know, so when your chillin and want to review the map and settings.

The basic features are pretty well straight forward. The more advanced features are a bit more complicated. On first use FuelpakFP3 froze. However a restart of my phone and the program yielded better results. I was able to flash a new map and bike runs well. I bought it specifically for the auto tune feature. I attempted to contact support through email, but after two days have not heard back. I know it's just the process, but there is no help explaining how to use it. I'll add the 5th star once this works.

I’ve done very few reviews, honestly, I’m not impressed with much these days. Rode bikes for 47 years and Harley’s for more than a few of those. This FP3 tuner from V&H combines all the little details that make my bike, truly mine! From the quicker throttle response, to the “warm up RPM” setting, custom red line threshold, everything I ever wanted to do to my bike, I can do myself, from my iPhone! If you get one time for Christmas this year, make it the FP3! Simply put, it pulls the entire bike together, tighter, more fun experience riding. Each tune can be set for the specific ride. I bought this a few years ago and hadn't any luck getting autotune to work passed 40% tps no matter how hard i rode the bike and i blamed the FP3 for not working right. Anyways I found my issue that was causing my autotune not to work right. I found a bolt missing from my throttle body that bolts it to rear cylinder. Once i got bolt back in the Autotune function works now for me. I never got any codes and it was just by chance i seen bolt missing as i was cleaning my bike and had a flashlight making sure no valve cover leaks etc. I’m a happy camper now !

I have an 07 Heritage I put V&H True Duels on it with the Fuel pack but the Fuelpak doesn’t have a Map with the True Duels with Stock intake. I plan on getting a high flow intake later but can you make a Map with True Duels with a Stock intake?

This works so well. If you have a late model Harley-Davidson and are annoyed by the engine temp and sluggish throttle response this tuner handles that in a snap. On a stock bike with zero mods I reduced the engine temp by 75 degrees and adjusted the throttle response to where it feels crisp like a carburator. Additional mods are handled just as easily (pipes, cams, intakes etc) No reason to take your bike with any new modification to a shop to have it tuned because FP3 and your iPhone IS the shop

Guys immediately my engine runs cooler, I have gauges and oh yeah of course a performance pop.

No joke. I literally guarantee your bike is running lean already, especially if you have done even an air cleaner modification

Do yourself a favor and grab one.
