I’ve tried a lot of readers, but this app is hands down the best. I browse The NYT and Washington Post for articles of interest. Using the Share extension I can quickly and seamlessly add them to this app. I do most of my reading using the Spritz method, and this app has added some fantastic features such as customizable settings for the length of pauses at the end of sentences, after commas, etc. You can sort the items in your list alphabetically, by length of article, or by items most recently added. The developers have really thought of everything to facilitate the reading process. There is even a good collection of classics you can read for free.

I’ve tried every speed reading app I could find on apple and google play stores... this one is hands down my favorite when it comes to functionality, simplicity, and stability. I hope Outread is around forever. I use it daily and it has my literary journey so much easier. I believe it is worth every penny.
Also, the developers of Outread are amazing. I had a problem after an update. They looked into it promptly.

As someone who loves information, new ways to learn, and getting through the front pages of newspapers, Outread is essential. It pays for itself. It also has classic books on there which is a nice added bonus.
Anyone who thinks ‘you’ can’t speed read, I encourage you to try Outread out and see how your amazing brain works.
You can read rsvp or guided. I’m going through 20 news pieces a day and I love it!

I have been looking for an app like this and I have finally found it. My main goal was to find an RSVP that I could us with my personal e book collection. Outread allows me to do just that and much more. I strongly recommend Outread if you want to read your personal ebook collection... I rarely rate a product ... this one deserves my time...

I wasted time (and money!) on a few “competitors” before I discovered Outread. The interface is elegant and easy-to-use. The Plus version is TOTALLY worth it. Unlike other apps, the file import actually works!!! Really enjoying reading ePub files, and the Pocket integration is awesome too. Can’t wait to see what’s in the future for Outread. It’s amazing. Thank you so much.

This seems like a really cool way to read faster, because often times I find myself getting distracted while reading and this helps me a lot. It would be really cool thought if we could have the option to link to a virtual library app like Libby for example, so we could just quickly link books to Outread . Other then that this seems really cool!

The product is fantastic. Works well for practicing speed reading, and gives you a huge catalogue of classics for practice. Moreover, I had an issue and emailed customer service, and they responded immediately and fixed the issue quickly. Highly recommend.

I’ve tried all of the single word at a time readers and this is by far the best one. Happy to pay well deserved money for this. Love the pocket integration!
Would love to see:
- hyperlink blue removed when in speed reading mode
- a night mode or white on black/dark gray
- options for typeface weight/boldness; some fonts like Avenir are really thin even at large sizes
- maybe it’s a feature owned by other apps, but the most centered character being a highlighted color, or a dash or marker below the center character would be a great option to have as well
Thanks again! Keep the good stuff coming!

2022 Update: Please add bionic reading!! Otherwise, this is the best app for pushing your reading speed. Love the ability to share articles straight from Apple news. I would like the ability to scroll the article on my own but the current set up is probably better for training my eye muscles any way. Please never stop supporting Outread 🙏🏼

It seems like this app recently got some attention from its developers and it is now delightful. A full-featured speed reading app which leaves little wanting. My primarily next feature request is syncing books and progress via icloud so I can move between my iPad and iPhone.

I was really happy to find this app because there are NO good RSVP apps for Mac.
And I’m able to integrate it well enough into into my mostly-Mac workflow.
Because my iPad Pro sits next to me at my desk with the Magic Keyboard attached it’s not a drama to grab some text from the Mac, thanks to Continuity.
Outread ’s functionality is the best execution of RSVP I’ve seen. It’s functionality would be nearly perfect with the addition of keyboard control support, e.g. – space bar for start/stop.
And then after that’s in place, why not release it for M1 Macs, amIright!?
Thanks for making a great app, guys!

I’ve had quite a few speed reading apps, and this is by far the most affordable and useful.
No complaints.
I do wish algorithms could deviate the speed a little based on word complexity or syllable count. My brain doesn’t naturally process all words at the same speed.

Finally the ability to easily speed read through online articles. Syncs with Pocket which is amazing. Syncs your last saved spot across devices….they thought of it all!!!! Nice work! Easily worth the small fee.

In the early versions, when in the flash mode the user could see the words preceding and following the flashed selection. They were “greyed” out. The presence of those words increased context comprehension. I wish you could bring them back.

There are science fiction books in here that I haven’t read since I was 10 years old so I am really grateful for that.
Turns out that I read pretty fast, The default setting was way too slow, had to turn it up to 400 words per minute.

Outread helps keep focus on reading content, and is quick to let you know when unconsciously your attention is drifting. When attention is very focused Outread help accelerate through content with excellent comprehension.

Works very well. However, the metronome sounds are very quiet, importing files must be done one at a time, and there is no way to synchronize across devices. You can synchronize some files via instapaper and the like, but not epub and afaik, it still wouldn't sync reading progress. Minor problems overall, though.

I am reading more books. I am reading faster with better comprehension. The flashing mode was what did it. I started slow, and now I am reading over 500 words a minute.

I asked the dev to add a button to reset reading stats a while back, and the latest update has it, along with a lot of other new features. Thanks!

Outread as far as I know, only has continuous scrolling to read a pdf. For me, it would be great if there was a way to view the pdf as a book, where it’s 2 pages per view and I would swipe right to go to the next pages.

The branding is focused on speed reading but Outread itself is wonderful for my reading struggles. It’s so customizable, I can adjust to what I need to focus. The new centered text highlighting mode is amazing and the ability to scan books and papers and then read them in-app is SO useful for me!
The dev for Outread is so awesome as well, when I emailed about how much it helps with my reading abilities with ADHD, he asked for my suggestions and feedback to improve Outread even further. 5/5 one of my favorite apps ever 😄

I wish I started this sooner. I almost immediately was reading at a pace faster than I thought possible while also comprehending. I finished Alice in Wonderland on Outread in less than 2 hours in 1 sitting and then moved on to read almost 50 pages of a book that had been taking me forever to get past the intro. I’m addicted to Outread!
By knotaipaendragthetoy
App needs some feature updates like cloud sync and the ability to sync with rss, whatever tho. Those are features not bugs, that’s why it’s five stars. Great app.

Thank you for this unique option in reading articles and books. Even my own journals and essays. It’s something special.

For putting to practice the speed-reading exercises you learn in a book, Outread is the best I’ve tried. It can chunk or flash and it can integrate all sorts of your your apps (e.g. Pocket, Instapaper). It also has useful functions like reminders and lots of reminders. I’m a little surprised more people haven’t rated this given the quality, smooth-running app that this is. I hope they offer free trials so the skeptical can try it out and decide for themselves. It’s a hidden gem.

I love Outread! It works fantastic! They could really set themselves apart from the competition by adding Apple Watch capability. It would be so nice to have The ability to practice, reading, or read anything spur of the moment. Waiting in the grocery line or any other time of the day. They could add a complication to one of the watch faces that allows me to quickly access the flashing capability. I could read a news article on my Apple Watch or a book using the flashing capability. I’m reading and increasing my reading abilities..

Hi Iove Outread it’s changed the way I connect with content and learn.
Please could we add a feature called Augmented Text where it highlights the first few letters of a word, this is great for fast reading and retention.
