Edit 2: placing a hold needs 4 taps and 3 page loads. There’s no way around. KCLS deserves to be banned.

Edit: just came here to say every time I open KCLS , I hate it even more!

KCLS should be removed. It used to be really really bad. Now it’s horrible beyond imagination. It just load the website in all the views and every view change causes the page to be reloaded! Navigation is a mess, wasted space everywhere and hard to find what you’re looking for.

Please restore the On Order filter on mobile app

I love the previous mobile app and used it all the time to see and put on hold newly ordered items. That was the best feature. Now it is gone from the mobile app which lacks many functionalities of the website and I have to resort to my Mac to see items on order. Please add this back to the mobile app! Thank you so much!

Confusing changes and vocabulary

Please rethink some of the vocabulary and main functions of KCLS. You have to click at least three different places simply to see what you have checked out (if there are no overdues). Also in what world does borrowing=holds? Please rethink the vocabulary. It reflects poorly on a public library to create such a counterintuitive product.

What happened to common sense? This update is horrible! Please revert back to the old version. If you read your latest reviews, everybody seems to agree. I had a “on hold” book become available but couldn’t select Kindle as my option and now it’s in la la land. I’ll have to return it and start over. Worst update ever.

So sorry that KKL took the time, treasure and energy to “improve” their previously pretty good app. This one is confusing and soooooooooooooo slow.

Old version is much better. This version is awful! Not visual or user friendly.
Second review after trying to find my books “checked out”. This is the worst App ever!

This new version doesn’t let you search by genre or even type of item such as book verses audiobook.

I used to be able to login
Choose what’s new
Filter by the genre I liked
Then filter by type.

Please bring this ability back.
Without it you have to know the book name which defeats the whole purpose of looking for something new

Missing a Just Ordered option. Supposedly it does many new things but not what would be useful to me. Useless to me.

The latest update removed the just ordered or items on order that we can previously filter for and place holds on. The old format was way better, much simple and easy to use.

While it’s useful to manage existing holds or returns, that’s about all. Can’t see reviews, detailed write ups, age group targets, nor click authors to see all their books.

I’ll log in to KCLS to read my ebooks and KCLS will take a long time to load the “borrowing” section and it often ends up blank like I don’t have anything checked out. I love the convenience of KCLS , but I wish it was more reliable.

Not a crash prob today...

When opening it today looking for an author I didn't experience a crash. I do have a couple of suggestions... It would be great to suggest authors and not just books. I HATE when you have an authors series but only books 1, 3, 4, and 7 when I KNOW that the other series books are available in ebook/audio book form but am unable to recommend the other books in the series. Frustrating especially when reading a series. Also it would be great if through the Overdrive app if it would mark books you have already read. I read voraciously. Easily 4-5 ebooks/audio books a week. Especially if I find an author I LOVE! Frustrating when I am unable to access her full catalog/series. I LOVE being able read books from the library on my apple products❤️!

Perfect for easy access to my KCLS account

I am lying in bed using my phone to write this review after downloading KCLS to do some checking on my holds and renew a book. I am too lazy to do this on my computer now and thought I’d check to see if this app has an app so I can check on things without my computer. So happy to see they do! Even happier it works perfectly!!

Renewing books and checking holds couldn’t be easier. Logging in is as simple as on the computer. The user interface is pleasing to the eye and easy to navigate. Searching for books is easy if you know you are looking for.

Here's the work flow to find and download an audio book:

1. Open app
2. Sign in
3. Search for audio book
4. Click on the desired result
5. Get transferred to web browser and this app web page
6. Sign in again
7. Place a hold

When the book becomes available
1. Open app
2. Navigate 3 pages deep to find the available book
3. Click the book to start the download
4. Get transferred to web browser and this app web page
5. Sign in again
6. The page says "book not available". Ignore that
7. Choose download format
8. Now a button appears to start the download. Click it.
9. Get transferred to the overdrive app
10. Sign in again
11. Finally start the download.

You can do all of this, including signing in 3 times, without ever leaving the Overdrive app. So, I see no point in this library app at all. Just use Overdrive, or log into your account in the web browser.

Locks up when trying to clear cache

Just installed KCLS . For some reason, the first thing I did is to go to Settings > Clear Cache. (Just because I love setting things.) When you tap the "Clear Cache" button, the spinner will start spinning and it will never stop. All UI controls become unresponsive. Have to force quit KCLS .

Performance is awful

The performance of KCLS is awful. For example touch commands seem to be asynchronous and the expected UI shows up much later after I’ve tried other commands. So when I tap to put a book on hold the hold confirmation shows up while I’m doing something else like a search and I no longer have a context as to which book it thinks it is trying to put a hold on. Or just wait for the spinner to spin as it seems to almost always be there. Fortunately the web page for this app works. Skip KCLS, use a browser.

Constantly Crashes

KCLS is almost unusable due to instability.

I have about 10 books in my for later list. Can’t see what they are because app shuts down every time I try to look.

Very buggy. Needs a lot of work.

iPad bug

I love the King County library system and KCLS on iOS works well enough. On the iPad, KCLS is forced into portrait and cannot be used in landscape. It also does not scale to the iPad screen. I hope that the Kong County libraries devote some resources to make KCLS more robust.

Tricky refining results in search

I have loved KCLS for the last three years, but as of recently the “DONE” button you use to refine your results when searching isn’t working.
Still a good site, but no longer great.
I have emailed the website/app support twice with no response or change in the problem.

What happened to the Refine feature?

I usually love KCLS! Unfortunately, within the last couple of months the “Refine” feature seems to have stopped working. Will this be fixed soon? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling KCLS to no avail.

None of the features to refine are working. I can choose to refine my searches then the “done” button doesn’t work to confirm my refinements. Very frustrating. Has been like this for a few months.

The Done and Cancel Button doesn’t work for the Refinements

Reproduce step - 1. Go to the search page to search any keyword;2. Click “Refine” button and get into the refinements page; 3. Select any option from “Availability” drop down widget; 4. Click “Done” or “Cancel” button, you will find that the button doesn’t work.

Unloved compared to the website

The design in KCLS is very outdated (not only in appearance, but the keyboard and popup windows make it obvious that it's still targeting non-Retina devices). In addition, I wish I could add my library card to my Apple Wallet.

Please optimize for iPhone X Screen!

KCLS is adequate at best. Since our property taxes finance your operations immensely, can you please update KCLS so that it’s optimized for the iPhone X screen? The black bars on top and bottom are quite an annoyance.
