It works!

Thank you! I am able to see where is the bus.

Near worthless tracking app

If SafeStop is just to find out where your child’s bus stop is and their pickup/drop off times then it’s perfect. But for anything close to near real time tracking similar to the numerous other tracking apps, this product should never have even been submitted for beta testing, let alone deployed for use. The display layout, though somewhat intuitive is not even reminiscent of decent first generation tracking apps. The tracking app itself is more reminiscent of a child’s map that moves a paper cutout of a school bus around and updates the bus positions randomly. I had a geofence set up over a mile away and I was notified the bus entered the area 9+ minutes after it pass not only the fence but 9+ minutes after it passed my child’s stop. Fortunately, my children were at their stop 15 minutes early.

Schools that use SafeStop must be out of funds because it could be given away for free because it’s usable and reliability is so near to zero as to be worthless.

Right direction

This is an awesome idea with such potential! Soon, it will be a 5/5 app but for now it gets a 3. I could see myself relying on SafeStop so a couple things need to change. As a mother with a son in the bus, my suggestions would be:

1. Follow the bus, NOT THE DRIVER!! Example: bus was broken and new bus and driver is being used, normal driver is on a different route. I want to know where my son is, not where the normal driver is. This caused much concern thinking my son was 4 miles away from the school.

2. Live update! I do not like the lag, it’s a difference of a whole bus stop. Using it for 5 days I quickly realized it reports a good 2 stops behind where it actually is.

3. Change the time of arrival “arriving 8:08” but if it’s running late you could make it “running late, approximate arrival: 8:18”

Again, this is app going the right direction. I will continue to use it and hope that my suggestions get taken seriously. The sensitivity of the information makes it extra important that the quarks get worked out. I won’t say it was rushed to the market, but I do think it’s still in a beta phase.

What happened on Upgrade?

SafeStop used to work for us in 2018 and we loved it (hence 2 rather than 1 Star)... but now the GPS tracking is no longer in real time. When accurate tracking is the main feature of SafeStop , all focus MUST at that point. Until you have perfected tracking, stop wasting time on silly little cosmetic features, which are probably screwing up your systems. This may even mean making the hard decision to hire more or better experts in that area and curb other positions... at least temporarily. Also, if there is a way to make the tracking devices portable (I’m sure there’s plenty of red tape around this too) it would nice to follow whatever bus and/or driver happens to be assigned to that route since they frequently change. As a business coach myself, I hope this insight helps and you are so close to making this a great app... narrow the focus!

This is a joke

Safe???? This is no way safe! SafeStop is made to put our minds at ease, so we know when our children are arriving, and where the buses are? The GPS tracking is WAY off! For example! Yesterday, SafeStop said the bus wasn’t arriving until 4:09. At 4, the students were passing my house. My house is a good 5-7 min walk from the bus stop. If I had been relying on SafeStop , I wouldn’t have been there. Another example. This morning. The bus said it was arriving at my stop at 7:18. It didn’t arrive until 7:32. 5 minutes later I get a notification saying it was arriving at the elementary school! Now I KNOW it still had one more stop to make before it arrived at the school. Smh you need to get this right! We are talking about CHILDREN! If you are going to advertise that this is such a wonderful thing and how safe it is and how awesome..get it right!!!

Needs work

I absolutely love the idea for SafeStop and I hope that it keeps getting better. The times are pretty accurate but not always. I hate that when one bus is broke down I don’t know what bus number is coming for my child and then I’m not able to track that bus because it just shows the normal bus parked in the bus yard. I also wish it would just show one pick up time and one drop off time but it shows several on mine and every time I try to remove them they just show right back up the next day.

Disappointed.....and surely not live view

Updated in the last 2.5 months of remaining school and SafeStop is still as disappointing.

My son has missed his bus a few times before learning his lesson not to trust SafeStop.
The bus reaches our stop while SafeStop is tracking it over a mile away in a 25 mph speed limit.

Surely not pay for the subscription for next year.

Wonder how SafeStop was accepted by our school district. Maybe I can sell them a service of startrek type beaming service to school for for kids. ;-)

-----------------
Surely a rip off for $20 a year subscription.

Here are my issues
1. The so called "live view" is a flash update of the bus location on the map every 30 seconds.
2. The locations updated are delayed and throws you off . I missed the bus since I expected the to be a stop away and the bus just went past.
3. The screen shots showing SafeStop features that shows arrival time. No such feature. Does not tell you the bus actual arrival time to the stop.
4. The support seem to be non existent. The idea of 30 second updates on the map is their system inefficiency that does not show true live movement.
5.Why pay for something that is trial in the works and not there yet.

Almost never works and terrible support

Terrible product and support to the point of being dangerous.

It has been months since I have been asking the company to fix their product, with nothing other than empty replies. Originally, months and months and months ago, SafeStop would occasionally track the location of the school bus. Which is the key point of SafeStop . But for months, despite numerous emails to the company, SafeStop no longer tracked my child’s bus location, initially creating a dangerous situation where I was unaware of my child’s location and could have left them unattended at a stop if I was not more vigilant. Really really horrible support and failure to protect our children with this incorrect location data.

*I urge any school that uses this product to put in their contract the requirement to immediately correct any location tracking failures under penalty of Full refund of any payments made together with potential of additional monetary damages*

Once again, and I reiterate, I gave the company a very long time to correct their issues before writing this review. Shameful.

How do you screw up an app over summer

Don’t know how they did it but they took an app that was useful and working last year, rather well and accurate and completely destroyed its usefulness.
So far SafeStop has worked for me 1 day out of 4. The day it did work it really didn’t, the bus was shown a few blocks away and was actually at our stop. Then 5 minutes Nd after it leaves I get a notification it’s approaching my stop and almost the sAne time it says arriving at school. My next email is to my district to tell them to drop SafeStop and find another one that works. You screwed up an app that actually worked last year and made it useless this year.

Was working then screen stayed blank

Was working, I accidentally swiped out of it, while waiting, clicked back into it for 15 min now & it’s just a blank screen, not working. Now screen is coming up not letting me sign in. Now screen is blank again..Before this it said the bus was on its way 45 minutes early to my stop. Idk what’s going on with it I hope it works, it’s very helpful when working properly

Not reliable

The school switched to SafeStop, this year. A little over a week and I’m not impressed. It doesn’t refresh well, lags, glitches, definitely unreliable. It stays in the same place for awhile and it’s shown the bus several stops back when it’s at our stop. SafeStop we used in the past couple years worked great. We could see the bus on that app go from stop to stop. I know in the past we didn’t have apps to tell us where the bus is, but it’s nice when you’re running late, when it’s running late, when it’s raining and you don’t want to stand out in the rain. If you’re going to make an app, make it work right.

Works Great!!!

I’m not sure why all the negative reviews. I just downloaded it today and I love it. Was able to find my daughters school right away. I registered and immediately saw my house and where the bus was. I tracked it all the way to our house and then all the way to school. It has a 30 second refresh rate. Which is what I would expect. A+++ (maybe they fixed previous problems)

Needs serious work

SafeStop doesn’t work half the time. When it does, it’s easily a 2 minutes behind, which is bad when it comes to bus stops. The other bus company and app worked much better. I also don’t like that u can’t see the other stops on the main screen. Fix this, please!
Update!!!
A year later SafeStop has made improvements but..... they don’t work. I checked SafeStop to track the bus and it stopped tracking 30 minutes prior to our stop time. I just got a text saying the bus was in our area, my kid got picked up 10 minutes ago! If this ever works correctly, I’ll update my review.

Great potential, needs work

This could be an incredible app, and I hope the devs keep making updates.
Current route search is unintuitive; it took me scrolling through every single route for about 5 mins just to find a route that comes close to my house. They were listed, not mapped, so I hope you’re familiar with local geography!
Some suggestions:
- Map based route search. A visual map, showing routes near your house, will better help customers find what they need.
- Search bar with filters. Let us search by School, Bus #, and Address! Far better than scrolling thru hundreds of routes in a large school district.
-You could probably use a google maps overlay to make life easier. Work smarter, not harder.

I do like that SafeStop promises not to divulge customer/student information to other parties, but I would like to know more about how personally identifiable information is secured.

Used a different app last year worked WAY better

My sons school just switched to SafeStop I’m only on day TWO and it’s already making me super angry!!!
The apps GPS system is COMPLETELY OFF. Nowadays that feature should be prestige condition! They need to take a few notes from the developers at google, Uber, Lyft, SOMEONE BETTER because right now I am about to tell my school they do not need to use SafeStop!
The bus should not be in front of my stop but on the map saying it’s 2 miles down the other road. And then refresh and completely miss my stop on the map! I’m glad I follow my instinct instead of relying on SafeStop because it’s GARBAGE
