"Staff"? Was in screenshot. HANDS

Hi, I just downloaded this and was looking at the area for learning scales. You have a screenshot that has three different options at top. One of which is "staff" and shows the hands (the other two are "root" and "piano"). I'm not seeing that in the actual app. And I can't find information to say whether that's a premium feature.

It would be nice if it was clear… This is the only app I saw that did the hands and fingering for learning scales which is super useful.

also and maybe I just didn't find this yet… But a little introduction page or something just to go over what the main features are would be cool. I'm kind of unsure on where to go or what all this is to be used for. Or if all of the things listed on the premium is it, or if there might be additional functionality that's not there, such as staff view.

Some apps have a quick little demo just when you open it to give you an idea, which would be a nice touch for people getting their feet wet, let them know what they can do in here. Like, I already know I want to learn some scales but not clear on what else I could do or why I might want different views etc.

Thanks.

(my start rating is simply because I've not been able to evaluate this thing properly at this moment. And because I got it for the one setting which I cannot seem to locate, and maybe it was taken out? Or is behind a pay wall. It's unclear.)

Needs copy/paste/insert composing options

PianoChordsandScales does a great job with chords and scales. However, I find it annoying that when composing there is no way to insert a chord at a specific bar. All additions are inserted at the bottom of the score. So if you want to insert a chord in the middle of a piece, you have to add it to the end and drag it to the measure where you want to insert it. And if you want to insert 4 measures, you have to repeat this process four times. There is no way to copy a chord, multiple chords, or a section and paste into the score at a point you designate. You have to move just one chord at a time. You can duplicate multiple bars, but they’re always placed at the end of the score and that may not be where I want them to go. In my opinion, copy/paste/insert functions would elevate PianoChordsandScales from being very good to excellent.

Helpful

I use PianoChordsandScales mainly for finding out what a specific chord that I see on a chord chart looks like on the piano, and although I know all the major and minor chords, I am still trying to figure out what the more complex chords like E/G# and F#m7 look like on the piano, and although I can’t get all the chords from PianoChordsandScales because I don’t have the paid version, I still am able to use PianoChordsandScales about half the time when I find an unfamiliar chord. PianoChordsandScales also beats other apps because it does not have any adds (as far as I have seen anyway). The only reason I am not rating this as a 5 star review is that I don’t get all the chords in the free version, which of course I understand. The producers have to get money somehow, right?

Fantastic addition to any DAW

There are a number of apps that allow you to create chord progressions, but not as efficiently and quickly as PianoChordsandScales. The interface is slick and wastes no space with extra unnecessary features. Adding a colorful chord within a specified key is one to two taps away.

The ability to create chord progressions, set the length of each chord, and export to midi, straight into a folder that can opened in either a mobile or desktop DAW makes this an invaluable addition to any producer’s toolkit.

As someone who works primarily on pop music that uses a lot of synthesized sounds, I would much prefer creating chord progressions and patterns on an easy to look at app like this rather than pulling out my computer or manually trying to draw notes into the screen of a mobile daw.

I can’t recommend PianoChordsandScales enough as it’s inspired me to go more mobile with my production process. The full version is worth the purchase!

Coming from a more rhythmic-centric dance-music perspective, there is one feature that would drastically improve my personal workflow: the ability to repeat a chord of a specified length. Currently, when I add a new chord it automatically is set to be 4 beats. It would be helpful for rhythmic chord creation to be able to, for instance, repeat a 16th note length chord multiple times.

In the meantime, I will be using PianoChordsandScales to build chord progressions that I can further break up in a daw.

Great study tool! So good.

I’ve tried a lot of apps over the years to facilitate a deeper understanding of basic music theory, and this is the best for me. It’s been the best way for me to explore the musical relationships of notes as scales and chords, on the sheet and on the keyboard. I’m a guitarist and have found this tool to be invaluable. I straight bought PianoChordsandScales because I feel I’ll use it for a long time.

Great app for producers

I use PianoChordsandScales religiously when I’m working on music, I’m not much of a theory guy myself but PianoChordsandScales is incredibly useful when you commit to a key in your song, literally shows you every possibly scale in the key of your choosing. As well as chord progressions. Been using it for years and decided I’d give some input because these guys deserve it

so much better than expected

the developer packs a lot of features into this that I didn’t see coming. There are some UI things that could be fixed though. Like when adding chords in composition mode, there’s only the slightest indication that you added the chord you selected. Besides that, PianoChordsandScales surprised me w how useful and intuitive it is

Great app

As someone who is just learning how to play, this is a wonderful app. I like that I can enter notes and it tells what the chord is, and how it sounds. I also like the scales and how it shows fingering position. I’m not ready for progressions, but I like that it’s there. PianoChordsandScales does everything I need to continue my training.

What an app

If i could give PianoChordsandScales ten stars, i would.
My only suggestion would be, while in the section of PianoChordsandScales where you see all the scale modes given your selected note, it would be so great if the option to play the scale descending would be available rather than have to click into that specific scale just to hear the descent.

great great great!!!

there's no any other apps better than this.
but one thing I want to know from developer is that I bought PianoChordsandScales through my iPhone and works great on my iPhone and iPad as well. And Am I supposed to purchase PianoChordsandScales for my Mac too? because I can't access full features on Macbook though I'm using my same apple account on all of them.

Great app - one suggestion

This is by far the best piano chord app I’ve found. One suggestion, however: When you use the “Reverse” chord finder, it would be nice if it returned some of the obvious results first. For example, if I enter the notes for a simple G major chord, PianoChordsandScales first returns a bunch of complicated C chords. The G major chord is way down the list. Otherwise, I really love PianoChordsandScales and am still giving it 5 stars!

Amazing for self teaching musicians

I am a self teaching student and I have been able to learn music theory with PianoChordsandScales, it helps with also playing the piano, I have had a passion for the piano for a while and PianoChordsandScales helped me start with a sturdy foundation, and as a student it helps with a bunch of stuff in choir and band, I promise PianoChordsandScales is amazing and it can help another that needs help in any type of music like choir, band, and orchestra!

Incredible tool for adult piano learners

PianoChordsandScales has been extremely helpful in my relearning piano. The user interface is so intuitive and well designed. So useful for identifying chords, scales, inversions, and circle of fifths! I love all the options and subtle variations for listening as well as seeing the chords. Great for all learning styles. I just upgraded to the full product and it’s worth every penny!

Amazing tool!

PianoChordsandScales is phenomenal. I have played piano for nearly 15 years and the large library of scales helped me to be able to improvise melodies and to pick out accurate melody from existing songs within minutes. I can now play many intermediate level songs by ear with only a chord structure after only a few minutes of tinkering on the piano. I could tell within 5 minutes of downloading PianoChordsandScales that it was very high quality so I quickly upgraded to the full version, and $7 is nothing for the huge library this offers. If you are just learning the keyboard, practicing theory, ear training, or and advanced musician, this is a great app. I was amazed over and over at how PianoChordsandScales took me to the next level of playing within minutes. I do not work for the company, this is a legitimate review. I am a huge skeptic and rarely write reviews. I am truly impressed with PianoChordsandScales and will recommend it to my friends and any beginning musician. Well worth the up graded price.

Simple interface and full of information

PianoChordsandScales is great for understanding scales, chords, chord progressions, and the circle of fifths. I like the easy to use interface. You select the key and it shows the chords or scales automatically. I just wanted something to show me the common scales and chords, and PianoChordsandScales does it, but if you want very advanced scales and chords then you will find them here. It also plays the sounds of the chord or scale.

Search bar in composed songs section would be great addition!

PianoChordsandScales is amazing. It’s helped me so much with understanding chords and scales. One thing that would really make things easier for me is if there was a search bar at the top of the “Composed Songs” page. I have SO many chord progressions saved and labeled by things like Roman numerals, chord notes and even song titles. It would be awesome to be able to type “I-IV” for example and have all of my options within that search to appear. What do you think about that? Thanks for a great app!

Simply awesome!

The best piano Chords/Scales/Progressions app on AppStore I found so far (and I’ve been looking long and hard).

So what is so special about PianoChordsandScales? -Well, imagine this: you take like best 10 similar apps; then you extract the best features they offer; filter out all fancy bells&whistles leaving just the most useful stuff; make sure everything works perfectly; add simple responsive GUI; then wrap it all up into single app with and call it Chords 🤗

Also... Big fat THANK YOU and KUDOS to developers for not making “yet another lousy pointless piano app” (like for real, I mean it, It’s dope - please keep it this way! 😉).

A MUST HAVE for musicians

This might be the single most important resource for musicians, especially self taught musicians who learn and play by ear. I don't know how I made it without the tools in this simple yet powerful app but now that I found it I'm opening up my skill set to new and ascended heights. The wealth of scales available is exhaustive and the song feature is an added bonus. I was looking for an option to play a set of notes and it would tell you what chord it is and which inversion. But I find the challenge of discovering the chord on my own to be a powerful learning experience so in a way I'm happy it's not there. Get the full version if you're serious about your musicianship.

Excellent learning tool!

I almost never write reviews, but I am learning piano and I could not imagine doing so without PianoChordsandScales. I am not a complete beginner in music, been playing guitar for 20+ years, but keys were always appealing.

I have always been a “by ear” musician. With PianoChordsandScales, I can mess around and find something that sounds good on my keyboard, and the interface allows me to find the scale or chord I am playing in seconds. I’m making more connections with actual music theory in a few months, than I have in my whole lifetime playing guitar. PianoChordsandScales makes it easy.

You get a robust feature set in the free version, so much so, that as a beginner, I haven’t had much need for the rest, but I plan to purchase the full version anyway, because you just can’t help but support the developers of such a useful tool.

This app is amazing!

It has taught me so many chords and surprisingly a bit of music theory with that. For free, it has so much variety on what you can learn and how you learn. It’s compatible for my phone and ipad and there hasn't been a single issue since i've had PianoChordsandScales . 100% recommend!
