Not digging PackTheBagPro at all. Icons are hard to see, the UI is way too complicated, and if you invested the time to master PackTheBagPro, your trip would be over already. If you are a frequent international traveller that needs hundreds of items on every trip, then maybe. Otherwise, I'ma pass.

I had been a huge fan of the free version of Pack the Bag, uploaded it to my old iPhone 3GS, and using it on a number of my trips to help me organize. I held off for a while before taking a chance on the pay version, wondering if I would not only like it better, but if it would be as flexible and efficient as the original. I had some extra iTunes gift dollars and decided to give it a go.

I'm only thankful the free version still exists. After several attempts for vacations last year, I gave up and returned to my tried and true. For one, the pay version appears more complicated than the first, which is ridiculous. I'm big on categories and subcategories, and I was never sure if I was adding something to be packed later, or what was happening, as I seemed to be going thru way too many clicks to add one item. Even deletions were complicated due to swipe attempts which weren't always successful. I liked the idea of being able to "pack" an object in a specific bag you're taking, but even this got frustrating. The only thing I did like was the weight section; when one has to be careful not to overpack due to baggage fees, etc. this was the one helpful benefit.

After consulting the instructions numerous times, I finally contacted the designer by email AND even on Facebook, but despite their answers, I was never able to achieve their claims. In the end I removed the pay app and reinstalled the old one. It wasn't worth the trouble.

I think PackTheBagPro has potential, but it's still a very tedious process to get one's list items and categories set up to one's liking. As it is, each and every item requires a long left swipe, then clicking to delete or typing a new name, then confirming. Given that there are dozens of items, it's almost more hassle than it's worth. Inventory items need a bulk edit mode (select multiple to remove, drag/drop to a new category...) Also, it's not immediately apparent whether you're in plan or pack mode, which leads to frustration when actions don't work as expected. This could be a truly five-star app if it worked on a friendlier and faster experience rather than making using PackTheBagPro a project in itself. I hope the developer can fix these issues so that I can rate it higher and feel better about upgrading to Pro.

Overall, PackTheBagPro is good and very helpful but could be great with a few added features. For example, the ability to create several typical lists such as business travel, international travel, etc. the second thing it could use is a way to make notes about specific items you want to bring for example not just list 5 shirts but have a way to note a description of the exact shirts you want to bring.

Easy to use with preset list of packing essentials & simple to customize.

I have packing list for carry-ons. My briefcase for the types of business trips and daily use. I used the list to effortlessly pack for a month on Tibet camping and a month house sitting.

I even have my cosmetic bag inventoried with PackTheBagPro. It makes life easier and more organized.

I use PackTheBagPro for every overnight trip we take! So easy to use. Has an editable pre-packing list with things I would have easily forgotten. I love that I can re-use old lists instead of starting from scratch. I can easily add new items and/or categories. For example I know I'll probably never go sailing so I changed that category to 'cruising' and removed some of the old items and added new ones. It will tell you if something you add is in another category in case you don't want to add it twice. This thing has saved me from forgetting key items on my trips. There's also a 'notes' area which i use for flight or hotel confirmation numbers. There's areas to take pics of items and add their location if you are forgetful like me. I HIGHLY recommend!!

Pack The Bag Pro is amazing (the free version too). It really makes it a breeze to plan in advance for your trip (business or vacations), especially for us Disney Vacation Club members, there is so much advance planning needed to ensure you make the best of it. PackTheBagPro helps me efficiently to not miss a step or forget to pack my items. Been using it for a few years. I really can't believe it got better. Thanks.

As an avid backpacker and use PackTheBagPro to make sure I take what I need, leave behind what I don’t, and know the weight of what I’m carrying.

This is by far the best packing app. I’ve looked at others over the years but have never ended up using them. Not only does it have the basics but one features I actually use all the time is the ability to specify the location of an item to be packed and then be able to sort by location when packing - which is perfect if you have things in storage. I wish it had a little more designed look and some of the menu items are not laid out in the best way but the overall functionality is so great that I overlook that. Lastly it would be great to have cloud integration and a way to access from a desktop. I would love to be able to not only share my lists but also have others edit as well. Right now you can only export to share. Despite that it is a great app’

I have been using PackTheBagPro for a number of years. It is amazing wether I am going hiking, golfing,coast to coast OR just to visit the kids. I would not be without it. I LOVE IT AND THEIR SUPPORT IS THE BEST

Finally a simple, well thought out design!

I’ve tried so many apps for packing over the years. This is the first to have a layout for planning what to take (clothes, hygiene, etc.) and an option to switch to a layout sorted by where the items are packed.

Powerful, but simple to setup and use.

As a now-former Packing Pro user I am so grateful to leave that complexity and old-school look.

Intuitive interface with cool optimization (detects whether you want to hold on the checkbox or the whole row and asks you to choose). Extremely functional app.

I’ve probably tried or bought over 7 packing apps. This one is my favorite. Easy to learn and I like the way it looks. Highly recommend. I really wish it could integrate with the TripIt app though. Perhaps soon?

I love PackTheBag! I use it for every trip, whether just a weekend or several weeks of international travel. I love that I can reuse past list, customize items, and sort in a variety of ways. Thanks for keeping me sane before my trips.

I spent 5 minutes with PackTheBagPro and already have a better list for my upcoming trip than I ever have had for previous trips! Simple to use, next to no learning curve and very customizable!

I initially tried the free Pack the Bag app and loved it so I decided to upgrade to Pro, and I agree with the other reviewers. I also travel a lot and have tried many apps but this is truly the absolute best. I haven’t yet left home and forgotten something. This is the most comprehensive app I’ve tried. I have lists for weekend trips to months-long trips. I can duplicate, sort, rearrange, recategorise, anything. I’ve had PackTheBagPro for years and among my most essential.

I travel a LOT and have tried a number of packing apps. Pack the Bag is by far the best, most intuitive and most flexible of all of them. Only changes I would make are integration with TripIt and/or a weather app. With this information, combined with a couple simple questions when creating a trip like whether the trip is a business or leisure, whether you are alone or with family/children could allow PackTheBagPro to pre-populate the packing list which would take PackTheBagPro from great to awesome.

I have a LOT of apps on my phone, and this is by far one of the best and most practical. I use it for trips, and also to keep track of the supplies in our camper. You can add literally anything to a list, customize lists and reuse them, and send a list to your family members. That’s super helpful for teenagers who usually forget to pack something. It also reminds me of things I might forget until the last minute, like stopping my mail before an extended trip, turning off water taps, and sending trip information to family.
