🏷️ About:
Plickers lets you poll your class for free, without the need for student devices. Just give each student a card (a "paper clicker"), and use your iPhone/iPad to scan them to do instant checks-for-understanding, exit tickets, and impromptu polls.
I loved this app before the update. It was such an easy use of formative assessment because I could see the student data as I scanned with the answer and student name popping up. Now it just tells me they got it wrong. I like to see in real time the mistakes they are making so I can address them in our discussion about the question. Before the update this app had a bar graph that was a fabulous representation for the students to see and it was large enough the kids could see it from anywhere in the room. The graph included now does not visually represent the data for the students or show it large enough they can see it. Now when displayed the questions are huge but the answers are so tiny the students in the back of my room can not see them at all. The students had to move closer to the board and expressed frustration and that they no longer enjoyed this app. (So sad because they begged for it before)
I created a set of questions on the computer and can not find it anywhere in my library. It was so much easier to manipulate before this recent update.
Please fix this so I can go back to using it to glean immediately feedback for my classroom and so the kids will enjoy it again.
Horrible Waste of Time!!

Downloaded App and it wouldn’t let you sign in without creating an account on the website. Then it told. Me the account I just created did not exist. Created a second account. Logged into Plickers ....saw the tabs but there are zero options for adding students, classes, or anything at all. App is completely unusable and a huge waste of time. Tried logging out and in again and got a “this page does not exist” error along with a “ Plickers has many portals, please try another one.”
I loved using this in my classroom until everything changed!

I LOVED this app! This was such an easy to use formal and informal assessment until everything changed. I was just reading the most recent reviews, and it seems many people feel the same way. this app made everything so much easier on the teacher. It was quick and easy. Now, I am struggling to make it work. I am glad I used it last year, during my observation, because it worked well and added points to my observation scores. The next time, only a few days after my observation, I tried to use it, and y’all had changed everything. I haven’t been able to use it with my students since then. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL LISTEN TO ALL THE TEACHERS THAT LOVED this app! Please take it back to what it was, so all of the struggling teachers out there(myself included) can use it with ease.
Disappointed

this app was great! Until I logged in this school year to discover the format has changed significantly and that some of the functions won’t work without getting a membership. At first attempt it wasn’t very user-friendly and I can’t quite figure out how the new version of Live View works (and I’m fairly tech-savvy). It doesn’t appear to give the same, quick feedback for teachers AND students either. They also changed little things that are mildly annoying. For example, when I printed the class rosters it only gives me the students’ first names (I’m not sure what happens if you have multiple students with the same name). Perhaps I will get used to the basic version, but I definitely won’t be paying. I put too much money into my classroom already.
I have seen this app in action, and it’s incredible when it works. However, when I tried to use it myself, after signing into Plickers , it crashed any time I tried to open it. I tried restarting my device, getting the newest software update, re-downloading Plickers , using a different network, using a different device, but nothing worked. When I contacted customer service, they were only suggesting things I have already tried and wrote in my email. I wish they would have been more helpful, but as of now, I will no longer be using Plickers . It’s a waste of storage on my devices. If they fix this issue I would consider downloading it again.
Terrible update

I need to be able to see what my students are getting wrong. I need to know which answer choice they’re selecting so that I know who says what. I need to be able to make questions on the fly. For example if I want to see how students feel about something or I ask a question that I didn’t plan for I need to be able to create it. Honestly this is such a hugger problem and inconvenience that it’s hardly even worth using them because I can’t get real time data.
Update broke so many parts. Disappointed.

I was excited to try this app in my courses after seeing at a workshop, and initially they worked really well. The students enjoyed seeing the results appear immediately, and the results were easy to incorporate into grades.
The new update, however, broke what was working so well. The new question format has tiny answers that are difficult to read even right near the screen, the images are cut off when displaying from an iPad (which has no landscape mode), and students can no longer see their card register as scanned (so I miss some of them).
To top this off, today the questions were displaying with the correct answer obviously selected (the letter was highlighted). No longer fun or useful - I will sadly put away my printed cards and shelve plans to invest in laminated versions.
Great idea, terrible execution

I have a love hate relationship with this app. It’s an excellent idea and it scans flawlessly. You can arrange questions in folders BUT when you want to make a quiz you have to choose from ALL questions lumped together at once! You can’t do it in advance. It is a nightmare. Sure, now they’ve added a paywall so you can actually group your questions into sets. I literally just gave my students a quiz on the wrong chapter because Plickers is so awful in execution. Thanks “we will always be free” this app. I’d pay upfront for this—I even paid for laminated cards, but I’m not paying monthly for an app that does one thing. Don’t waste your time. There are better solutions.
Conflicting feelings

I love this app. My first graders love this app. It’s frustrating, though, that I have so many issues using it. It freezes up in Live View on the board, and waiting wastes so much valuable time. Additionally, way too often, the graphics won’t load on the board. We see the answer choices, but where the graphic should be, there’s only a spinning loading icon. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling Plickers , but it doesn’t fix the problem. I hope that there’s an update to this issue soon, as I’m fearful I need to find an alternative app, which makes me sad.
I absolutely love using this app, particularly for informal assessments. It's so quick and easy to scan everyone's answers. I can incorporate a bit of technology without dragging out devices for all of the students. The kids love it and some of them are still trying to find a way to "beat the system" by figuring out a pattern to the shapes. The only detractor is you have to write your own questions so definitely plan ahead!
Fun and Easy

My students loved this method of taking a quiz. I love it because I don’t have to grade their papers.
Only recommendation I would make is to make the letters bigger on the backside of the card stock. The students get the right answer in their head but put up the incorrect answer.
I copy the graphics onto half sheets of card stock. I am going to try to laminate them myself.
Great classroom tool!

My students love to use this to review. It gives me great feedback on what they are understanding and I can clarify in the spot. Suggestions to improve would be scanning in landscape and having teachers share questions. It takes a bit of time to get the questions into the website.
Great for quick checks!

I love using this app for quick and easy reading checks. I used it all last year and never had any issues at all. My sophomores enjoyed it (as much as they could enjoy taking a quiz) and the best part is that the quiz is graded immediately.
Been using for years

When you need to assess informal or formally this is great for fast results. Once you set up subjects you can reuse for years. Great for classroom control in difficult classes. As all students have to participate every kid is on the horse at for every question. For I class fun questions you can ask the question and then see who got right and wrong for non graded assessments and then peer pressure to hear your neighbor makes it a competition but in nice way.
Use at closure of activity for understanding check. It takes a couple of tries to get out and paste from assessment banks into system. But once in you can reuse and call up in a minute or two for use. I select possible question for use during day or week in advance for 6 classes in under 30 minutes. Then I can use on the fly in class as needed and periodic assessments.
Good for group work. Put a question for discussion in the test bank and then have the students discuss before answering. You can also see who is faking participation that way.
Just wish I could upload whole text banks rather than cut and paste but small price to pay for quality and free program.
If you need a tool to gather formative assessment data quickly and easily, this app is the tool you're looking for! Administrators and students love it! Tip: Never show individual answer results to the whole class to maintain anonymity, but do show the class the overall graph results. You'll love it too!
Excellent for my weekly quiz

I use this app for my weekly quiz. It gives you immediate results, printouts for the students to check their answers and know their grades. It is all calculated in real time, gives you group results statistics such as the most missed three questions and percentages of correct questions. Great great app.
My favorite assessment tool!

I've been using this app to assess and review for several years now. I love it because it provides instant feedback (like magic!) my students love it because it's easy for them, and they like seeing the graphs of how many got the answer right. (I don't use the "reveal answer" feature though- embarrassing!)
A little setup and then you're off!

I'm using this app in a high school classroom with juniors and seniors, and they can't stop raving about it. They find it really fun; I find it a great way to ensure 100% participation! The anonymity when sharing class results means students don't feel embarrassed about their answers, and I can quickly tell how they're grasping the material. And best of all, it's FREE! God bless you, this app, you are a gift to teachers everywhere!!
A big piece of my science lessons

Every day I use this app as my 6th graders walk in for their bell questions of the day. They have their this app cards pasted into their science journals. We have a daily contest for fun to see which class scores highest percentage on the question. Many times I pose a question at the end of a lesson too for my formative. I also programmed on card for each table group when i want teams to discuss and debate questions cooperatively.
I have been using this app for several years. My students love the immediate feedback, and I love that I can see who is struggling without the whole class knowing. I also use the feedback to ask the class why they missed questions, and it always leads to a great discussion about the structure of questions and how that relates to the end of year state test.
Use it almost daily for exit slips!

This is a perfect way to get a quick read on your students' understanding. Data drives my teaching and this app is so much easier as I deal with the tech part, and they don't have to log in or anything. The only downside is that my questions from last year that contained images won't load this year online. The questions stored in my library from last year work, but bot the attached images. Other than that- this is great!
