Best iOS Photos Replacement App

HashPhotos has the vast majority of features provided by the stock Photos app as well as much more. I’ve always found navigating through the Photos app a bit confusing so I’m happy with the more intuitive approach used in this app. A lot of what this app does updates the stock Photos app which is great. If your iPhone has amassed a huge collection of unwieldy photos, this app will be super helpful in taming the beast - especially if you are willing to take the time necessary to keyword each photo. Searching by or creating “smart” albums based on a series of keywords is very useful. The compare feature is also great for quickly finding the best of a collection of images. I really don’t think I’ll use the stock Photos app again now that I’m using this app... it is just... better!

A building full of software developers couldn’t achieve what this one did

If you are struggling with photo organization, add HashPhotos to your arsenal. HashPhotos has all the missing organizational and visualization features lacking in the iPhone and you won’t find all of these features, fully integrated with the iPhone camera roll, packed into a single app anywhere else. It makes tagging, photo album organization, and more a breeze. So far it’s been 100% stable. I searched HashPhotos store for several days and experimented with many apps, many of which were expensive and I needed to get refunded because they didn’t work and hadn’t been updated. HashPhotos is a great value for the money and better, by a mile, than any other I tried.

Incredible App but...

I wish there was an option to directly import photos into Photos library to eliminate several steps. I love the wireless exporting feature. First I wirelessly send the photos to my iPad Hash Photos App. After I confirm that the photos have arrived, I delete them from my iPhone. Then on my iPad I view, delete, edit and tag more easily and quickly. I am most interested in tagging. Then I wirelessly send them to my MacBook. Then I import them into Photos. After confirming the import, I delete the Hash Photos folder with all the photos.

I don’t use iCloud because I live in a country where the internet is too slow. Maybe in the future I could just sync with iCloud Photos...

Apple should buy HashPhotos and incorporate it into Photos.

Good for tagging

I spent the evening looking for a way to quickly rate my photos as a prosumer photographer. I didn’t want to import the photos from my camera just to have to import again to an app, which seemed to be the way any app that can access the exif rating works. So I gave up on that and opted for a tagging solution, which would be a quick fix later. This was the best i found for that. I can multiple select and tag in bulk. I can select specific tags. Then my tags get organized as virtual albums for quick viewing. I know tagging is not really the focus of HashPhotos, but it was the best for what I was looking for.

Add quick rating feature without having to tap into menus and I’ll pay for that.

Awesome Photos app replacement; UPDATE

HashPhotos no longer opens, it just crashes after rebooting my iPad. I updated HashPhotos today and it worked fine, but then I rebooted my iPad and can no longer open HashPhotos .

I'm not a fan of the Photos app in iOS 10 so I looked for a replacement. This is it! I don't care to have my photos grouped by moments or people and not be able to delete those folders, or to see the new enormous folder icons. this app has none of that garbage. (If they add it, I hope it's optional.) The tap-hold-drag to select and delete is very convenient and quick. Haven't really used the tagging features yet, but I plan to.

6 Fixes / Features Needed

Let me start by saying that I really want to like this app. Many aspects of it are quite great. But the bugs and missing features are too numerous to ignore.

1) The similar photo finder doesn’t really work. It finds some similar photos, but it completely misses many others. Kind of a key thing to get right if this is a selling point of HashPhotos.

2) Needs a quick scroll bar to get from the bottom to the middle of the photos quickly.

3) Filtering doesn’t work on albums with custom view set. If you don’t use the global view settings, it appears it breaks the filtering.

4) The global view is missing many sort options. Only seems to support sort by date, while the custom sort allows things like sorting by name or size, for instance.

5) There doesn’t seem to be any way to rename files. I could be missing this somewhere, but I would like the option to rename a file.

6) Can’t seem to backspace when entering a passcode.

I’m sure I am forgetting some others, but even these six issues or missing features make me question how useful HashPhotos is. If they could get some of this right, I would love to change my review to four or even five stars.

Excellent, reasonably priced photo manager - plus private files

I have been looking for a new photo management app for my new iPad Pro since the one I used became discontinued for iOS 11. I was mainly looking for two things: private folder creation/management, and not being locked in to a pricey subscription plan as it seems to be the case with most apps of this kind nowadays. Once I checked this app didn’t just fill these two requirements but also offers iTunes file transfer, smart albums by tags/features and many other useful enhancements, the very reasonable $3.99 for the full version was a no brainer. I can finally put my older iPad to a better use.

Start Here First!

This is my go-to photo editor for all fast and quick basic edits. I don't like the way the stock Apple Photos app crops my pictures. The edits can be reverted but when you try to edit the picture in a different app it seems all the changes (including the crop and rotation) are not imported. HashPhotos allows you to quickly crop, edit, and then either save over the original file or save a copy with the edits. I do own all IAPs but it's definitely worth the money. It's a great quick photo manager and a hidden gem that is updated frequently and often overlooked in my opinion. Get it!

So many ways to organize and search

HashPhotos provides many ways to organize photos that are better than the default iOS Photos app. I especially like the world map since I travel a lot and might know I’m looking for a picture I took in Asia but not sure exactly where. The ability to assign text tags as keywords to search by and to annotate with memos is also great, and I like that I can see file format, album name, presence of location info and other photo metadata of each picture in the thumbnails view which is extremely customizable. There are too many great things about HashPhotos to list!

Perfection

This is a truly fantastic app. 10 out of 5 stars. This is what the default photo app should be for iPhones. I am using this to sort through thousands of older and current photos and HashPhotos is making it a breeze. Thumbs up to the developers and designers! They really paid attention to user experience. Major awesome features:

-- Tagging feature is incredibly easy and useful...very easy to add, remove, change tags while sorting photos

-- Extra large thumbnails

-- Album management is easily accessible in terms of clicks and swipes...so intuitive!

-- Batch favorite and unfavorite

-- Date/Time change...so critical and it works great (make sure you enable "modify EXIF")

-- Location change...so easy and perfectly implemented...highly convenient recent locations appear in the drop-down

-- Duplicate or similar photo feature works very well

-- The state of the photos refreshes live

-- All changes are being recognized by the iPhone native Photos app

Organizing pictures the easy way.

Excellent app! Organizing pictures with Smart albums using tags , dates location is a great future of HashPhotos .
However, When transferring pictures from iPhone to iPad, I lose the ability to see the memos. The tags transferred fine but memos disappear. I double checked transfer both ways between iPhone to iPad. I checked my settings I couldn’t figure it out. Please fix!
The good news is that tags and memos are conserved when transferring pictures to PC. I used DigiKam in Linux and I was able to see the tags and Memo I entered in iPhone and iPad.
Thanks for this nice app!

The wisest app on iOS but only failing one function

I am a huge fan of HashPhotos. It is by far The smartest app I have seen and appreciated on iOS. Not only for having the tag, the local and the private albums, but also it was the only method for making folders and sub folders for the apple album in the past.

However, the last puzzle, as you promised in the website description - EXPORT ... to Mac... “ tags and memos will be preserved” is still missing.

From my file record I believed I tested this function back in 2017 when I first used HashPhotos. When I check back now in 2020, I noticed the tags and memos won’t be exported out of the iOS device. HashPhotos this app transfer for Mac is not updated since 2017.

Therefore, all the users’ prudently marked and tagged photos will not be carried out of iPhone and iPad, which as photo files I believe most people will need to view, store, edit (mire professionally) and publish online or anywhere else.

I have been using HashPhotos and sharing it to all people I’ve known. But it is sad for me to see this missing function hindering us from using it, and more importantly being the best app ever. Here I am writing this for the dear developer teams and l wonder if you could fix this issue?

Uncommonly good

As a professional photographer, I've been searching for an iPhone app that would allow me to organize my images for social media in a way that iPhone cannot do. After years of experimenting with various apps, I've finally found one, and thank goodness!

There are so many facets to HashPhotos that you discover as you're using it, and each time, there's a little voice in my head that says, "What?! That's awesome!"

This is by far, the best image organization app around. Kudos to the developers, and thank you!

What Apple left out of Photos

Apple has made some bad app decisions in the past like cancellation of very popular desktop tools but never have I seen such a nearly useless app on the iPhone as Photos. Essential features like tagging photos at the time capture are absurdly missing. Thank you so much for HashPhotos that completes the picture (pun intended) of what it takes to make using Photos even a consideration for photo storage and retrieval. An excellent app. 52,700 photos in iCloud can now be searched and the precise one found.

Does the job and exceeds at it

I use HashPhotos to manage a scrapbook of reference materials for my drawing hobby. I save images to a specific album in Photos and then head over to Hash, where my photos are waiting and ready to be tagged.

Tagging is super easy and ergonomic with nice touches like touch-dragging items to select multiple images.

I think Hash does a lot more than what I use it for, but I only have one job for it and you know what? It knocks its out of the park. Good job!

If I had one criticism it would be that I always forget syncing between devices is a manual process even though it uses iCloud. That said, I’ve never had an issue with merge conflicts or any real problems with syncing beyond remembering to upload and download stuff. It is after all a ‘beta’ feature so you can’t ding them too much for this.

Wow!!!

I downloaded this years ago and abandoned it looking for something simpler at the time. What a mistake that was! This is an amazing App that does so much more than the native ios photos app. You can keyword, add notes, link, geotag, read exit data, create private albums, backup, sync to Icloud or Dropbox effortlessly... the list goes on and on and the UI makes it simple and intuitive (small learning curve with all their Album types). I’m back and I ain’t leaving!

Great Start

- HashPhotos shows great promise! Well designed and has a good set of basic features…
- As it stands right now (July 2021 ) it is way too centered on the native iOS photo app, and it truly does provide features that Apple doesn’t, but it really needs to support more cloud services than just Dropbox(especially Google Drive).
- I have contacted the author via their website but I have not recd any answer, so be aware that app support could be better.
- But I am hopeful that this will be addressed soon, as I want to use this to really help organize and manage my large collection of photos.

Great app. Could be even better

I work with alot of animated gifs and this can catagorize and play them almost perfectly. It’s the only app I could find that allows importing from an external drive instead of just wifi and sharing, which is bad for large amounts of big files.
I wish it could sort by name/title and search in local and private folders for metadata . That would make me and a lot of other people really happy.

Everything the "Photos" app SHOULD be

THIS is HashPhotos the native iOS Photos should have to been all along. I've been searching for a superior photo gallery app that syncs with Photos for ages, and now I've found it I'm never going back. Tagging, sorting, mapping, and multiple ways of organizing—this has everything and more! After exploring Hash for 2min I was obsessed and happily bought the full version. Reasonably priced, intuitive UI, and has every feature I could ever want. This is how it's done, Apple.

the ONLY organization tool that matters

Any app that doesn’t show you which photos need to be organized is pointless, functionless, aggravating, frustrating trash engineered by soulless human beings.

This.
HashPhotos achieves that single all-important-because-all-other-functions-depend-on-it function.
It tells you which photos aren’t in an album. Because it doesn’t matter if you have *any* photos in an album if you don’t have them *all* in an album. What if you missed one? What if you forgot? What if you are not robotically perfect??
You will never again have to search your entire 10,786-photo library just to be sure you don’t miss that one perfect, forgotten, missed photo.
This, folks, is what we’ve all been waiting for. Thank you, this app. Thank you, for This.

Best Photo & Video Mgmt App!!!

This is by far the best app I have found to manage my photos & videos! I was struggling to find tools for my iCloud Photo Library which was a 10kphoto+mess 😂 With it I was easily able to organIze, correct, & remove duplicates, all with seamless iCloud compatibility. The features saved me on time & Thank God because I thought I would never get through it.

I recommend adding Auto Photo Album sorting options, like in ABC order, for iCloud Photos (sort the albums not whats in the albums 😂) & options to convert/transfer local albums back to library!!
