Cute but..

The games gacha is actually horrendous. Maybe it’s currently bugged, (wouldn’t know because support doesn’t answer and when they do it seems like an ai), but the amount of duplicates you get right now is insane. The gacha is unlike any other game I’ve seen, people are spending over 300 and not getting the full banner set, you’ll get duplicates and tickets that won’t come close to the amount you need to get a recolor duplicate. You can’t even use tickets to get the base color, only recolors. You also can’t use them to get building permits from the banner. Not sure if it’s possible to actually pull a relic before other items to get a full set on the moonlight crystal pulls. Other than the gacha and painting issues, there are some bugs that need to be fixed, (Big one is pets glitching onto roofs, under buildings/furniture.)
Also, the this app official Discord is genuinely a train wreck. You can’t even go there to really ask for help, the mods, (not all), they have are quite rude. They also do use ai for the paintings, for anyone that doesn’t know already.
(edit: knocking it down to one star because support in the game has started deleting people’s tickets instead of responding. Also please set foot in their official discord and see how the mods act, even utter ai or talk about something wrong in game and they are RUDE. They ban or mute if they don’t like you, loll..) can.. can I give this negative -5 stars… it’s.. so… 🤢

Just Not good

I thought the game had a beautiful soundtrack and art style I also enjoy gacha games, so it was fun until I was able to do the puzzles I’m an artist myself so generative AI is bad. When I finished my first puzzle it felt suspicious but I didn’t think anything of later on I learned it used generative AI. The game mechanics are also not good, one time I needed to find a character but they were nowhere I had even looked at the map turned out two characters were missing I understand that since it’s just a bug but it was needed to find the character for a quest. The quests are so overwhelming as well, the ads say you don’t have to follow the story but when you are just playing the game it will give you a new quest every now and then, when you get the quest you would have to turn off the guid, and sometimes you would have a call and if you excepted it it was so much talking you would have to read. There’s so much different currency making it hard to remember where you get each one especially since they don’t say in the description of the currency where to get it. I’ve also seen a cutscene that is just racist, you give a black skinned person a mushroom and they start acting like a monkey wich is already a racist thing so. Lastly if you are a queer person you actively can’t say gay in the chat wich I understand is in so many other games but that’s just not the best. Thank you for reading all of this.

A Cute Game But Ugly Disappointment

I don’t want to make too long of a review but I will say that while I spent a good while playing this game daily since release, ultimately many things led to my having to quit. The gacha is exorbitantly expensive. There were some frustrating bugs that really should have been fixed long ago considering the game has been available in China for a year before it was released globally. But the primary issue is how they treat their players. The most recent issue deals with a racist depiction of one of their two NPCs of color being made to dance around like a monkey while making monkey noises. They later replaced the animation and posted a vague apology but deleted any comments speaking about it after. On top of this, players had been receiving charges for purchases they never made and when they tried to have these fraudulent charges removed had their accounts severely penalized with all of their currency in deep negatives. And further still, players facing harassment from other players wearing the in game equivalent of blackface were banned when they reported these other players. This company’s every move has been shady and one could do better than to try this game and risk being affected by any of the many issues that have come up and not been properly addressed or addressed at all. Having this many problems so early on is never a good sign. Especially if they are showing a general disregard for their player base.

Please completely reconsider your usage of generative AI.

Incredibly disappointing about your usage of generative AI, no matter how small. You have all the resources available to you to NOT use it. You have a good game to build off of. Your usage of it and then announcing that you’re doubling down on that usage in the discord is not a good look. Your community is upset for a reason and this issue will not go away until you change your tune. Your mods are in the discord telling us not to talk about your usage of AI- maybe if you didn’t make controversial and upsetting decisions you wouldn’t have to go around doing damage control. You need to reconsider your usage of it because it is the #1 reason why people are turning away from your game. This kind of AI is bad for the environment, steals from real artists (not only jobs but their actual content) as well as cheapening your product overall. This will be your biggest money sucker. You could have droves of people giving you more money if you changed your stance and your usage of AI. At this point, your usage of generative AI is the thing you’re most known for, and right at the games global release, too. Embarrassing. Do better. It will be good for you in the longrun if you roll back your usage of AI and address our concerns about it in a way that isn’t inflammatory. Now whatever content you put out everyone will question regardless of if you used generative AI or not. You’re losing the charm of your game, your reliability as a team, and a good reputation because of this.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME

This game brought itself down, it was going so well on Heartopia store but once more people started playing it everything got discovered. The developers used ai in some of their ads and in game photos, but didn’t disclose it until they were called out. It went against steam rules. Also, it’s not good to get addicted to buying stuff from this game. There are a lot of people spending 400 dollars for a small reward, it’s not worth it to gamble your money away for duplicates with the gacha system. This is why they are able to spend so much money on advertising. Also, the game is racist, having one of the only POC characters in the game act like a monkey after eating a mushroom. This is extremely oppressive, disgusting, and inappropriate. Even if this is a chinese developer, there is no excuse to be this ignorant on the topic. Everyone has access to the internet, and the devs should make sure that the content in their game isn’t offensive to large groups of people. Just because they’re asian doesn’t mean they can’t be racist. They didn’t even apologize correctly, only putting it in their discord and deleting the messages that brought up the cutscene. They just continue to make wrong decisions and they can’t get away with this. the people that play this game from Heartopia store seem oblivious to this whole ordeal. the racist, ai using, cozy game is not worth the download. the game is also really boring, i couldn’t play more than 20 mins of this…

Money hungry

I never spend money on games for this exact reason and the one time I gave things a chance, I ended up spending close to $100 of real money only to get hats and shoes in the mlp event. You’d think they’d register that a player is spending a lot of money and actually give them something they enjoy (a car) instead of raising the price each time you draw a ticket. I’d rather spend $20 on a car instead of gambling for items I’ll never wear. My heart literally sank when I realized how much I spent and there was no pay off for it. I will never purchase anything on here ever again. It makes more sense to build trust with the player by letting them spend money on items they want and actually giving it to them instead of forcing them to gamble, which will only give them a negative experience and never want to purchase again. I’m genuinely so hurt that I gave this game a chance and they’re just like all other money hungry games that couldn’t care less about user experience and want your money. We’ll literally give you money if you give us the item we actually want?? They will still be rare items bc not everyone is willing to pay real money. What’s so hard to understand about this concept? There’s no need to play psychology games thinking you’re luring players to be hooked on spending more when you’re really pushing them away when they realize what’s being done to them??? First review I ever wrote. I’m that livid.

Could’ve been perfect, but… just disappointing!

This game could have been a perfect, low-stress cozy game where you can build, draw, write, create custom clothing, and create your own music! Farming, cooking, birdwatching, fishing, and bug-catching! Special event activities like snow sculpting and ice skating!

But all the gacha has incremental increases in price per roll, all gacha currency is so low in (free) quantity (if you’re given any of it for free at all) it’s just simpler to buy it, the coding for all the animals and pets is absolute trash (constantly floating above the ground, slowly crossing diagonally from a higher/lower point to the opposite, walking through geometry everywhere), the localization reads like a half-asleep unpaid intern put it through a free machine translator and slapped it in without even glancing at it twice much less actually proofreading it, and it looks like they’re so lazy they decided to use generative AI for low-effort visuals instead of having an actual artist do the work (which would mean all visual assets actually fully matched the aesthetic of everything else).

So the devs are lazy, probably don’t have any actual English-speaking translators (which doesn’t bode well for other languages), and the gacha is somehow more predatory than gacha usually is. I wish they cared more about this game than they do, because it could be absolutely wonderful if I wasn’t constantly being pulled out of the experience by how careless and lazy they’ve been with so, so, so many obvious features.

It’s a too many task and instructions right away.

Just started playing a game and it’s so many pop-ups of things to do back to back that you forget the things you just learned. Soon as you move in right away, you pick the house and they show you how to build things and put in furniture, which is good but right after you put like three things down Townies pop up every second. The over explanation of the game it’s a little irritating. To be compared to animal Crossing, the game does move fast not as peaceful as animal crossing. I have animal crossing and played it and flipped it. I know this game is supposed to be similar to animal Crossing, but it’s task after the task. And after each little task, you have to continue to talk each townie. I wish the game allowed you to walk around and learn about the town instead of adding the task. It’s like you can’t even focus on what you just did cause you jumped to the next one right away. One minute you learning about building a house then someone come up to teach you how to fish and right away your going to the clothing store to help someone. And it’s SO many text bubbles to read maybe I’m just impatient, but it’s a little irritating with the step-by-step tutorial for the smallest task. You pick up and move one box you get a long explanation. Maybe the game is made for people that needs step-by-step tutorials on everything. But I’ll keep playing it and see if it gets better. I’ll update the review once I play more.

Refund issues

I love this game so much! I’ve been playing since it came out in the US. It’s so cozy and relaxing and it’s so fun to play with friends. The only issue I have recently encountered is the refund issue. I got a few extra charges on my bank acc for purchasing some heart gem packs, I didn’t authorize a payment that day, let alone 3. so I went to dispute it since at the time this happened, I didn’t have enough in my bank acc to cover it. I panicked and disputed. I know there probably was a better way to go about it, but like I said I panicked and didn’t think. I went to play the game again I wanna say a day after, went to chat with my homie and it said I was muted for 10 YEARS. Then I noticed I have -1000 heart gems. I have tried emailing them, and have been sent back an email stating the email I sent couldn’t go through. I have done some research, don’t know if there’s anything else or if this is even possible, but and I have to pay around $60+ to get my heart gems out of negatives to get my account back to normal. If I do that I will not be able to use any of said gems since it will be getting me out of those negatives. I really do love this game and have spent a good amount of my money WHEN I WANT TO, and spent a lot of time playing. I just want my account back to normal without having to pay a hefty amount. I don’t want to lose all the money and time and effort I spent playing over something this silly.

Absolutely adorable, but I'm very disappointed at the use of GenAI

Hey, this app. I absolutely love the gameplay and quality of this game. Very good for a free game. However, there are a few things that I hope you can change. My first major concern is the use of GenAI. I just recently found out that AI was used in the making of this game's art, and became extremely disappointed. There are real game artists that have exceptional talent, and with all the money that people are spending on this game, it couldn't possibly hurt to pay a genuine video game artist. I do really like the actual gameplay; it reminds me of Animal Crossing New Horizons,(ACNH) which is very reminiscent of the COVID pandemic for me. It was basically my entire young childhood, and this is a more mature ACNH like game, making it very enjoyable and playable for hours. I do think that the lag could be reduced. Another thing is the absolutely ABSURD gatcha pricing. I payed real money multiple times just to get one item from the draw. It should have a set price. Even the first draw for the gatchas using moonlight crystals is relatively expensive. I think that using 30-60 gems would make it a lot better than making the price drastically higher every time. I love all of the characters and the storyline is really cute. Overall, it's a great game. I generally think you as the developers should really consider hiring some real game artists, and reduce the gatcha pricing significantly. I love the game and have intentions to continue playing it for the foreseeable future. Thanks for listening, from a very enthusiastic indie game lover ♡

5 Stars… Except for 2 things

This game is super fun, it’s like a cross between animal crossing and sims. For the most part I have no complaints, there are plenty of tasks to do each day, many items are customizable, the design options are relatively limitless when it comes to house building and sewing. HOWEVER:
1. The game is still very glitchy on iOS, this is to be expected since it just released on the platform but it does inhibit game play sometimes (like when my cat is stuck on the roof or in a wall so I can’t train/feed him).
2. Probably my biggest complaint right now: the gacha system. It doesn’t feel like a random draw of tickets. The amount of doubles you get is crazy, and you don’t get the option to keep them, they are automatically turned into tickets. Ok great, what can you buy with the tickets? Not the original set of course, but a set of a different color. And the amount of tickets you need for those highly desired items is crazy. But you can only buy them by paying real money for hearts, hopefully earning some free raffle tickets in game to draw again, or by inevitably getting more dupes. I understand Heartopia has a goal to get money, but making it impossible for us to earn those top tier gifts without spending $200 is lame. At least give us a chance with a truly random draw!

This game is trash now

I really wanted to give this game a 5 star but I literally can’t because it seems like every with update the functionality of this game gets atrociously worse it won’t let me interact with my animals when I have literal daily quests having to do with them for some reason and no matter how many times I reload the game or restart my phone the problem never gets resolved either that or they’re just straight up missing for the whole day and it assigns you quests for events that haven’t even started yet and keeps it pending till your able to attend them for example, specifically with this stupid “music festival” I’m sorry but why is it an hour long?? I’m not sitting looking at my screen for an hour straight doing nothing but playing instruments horribly with a bunch of strangers like at least give me tasks to do in between the wait time besides ice skating and popping bubbles because that’s just ridiculous and than on top of it, it doesn’t even happen every day so god forbid you go afk for too long or open another tab on your phone you’re cooked too because it will kick you out of the lobby if you do so and you have to join a brand new festival lobby. Fix your game cause I’ve seen multiple people complaining about these things online and you still refuse to do anything and expect good ratings while not listening to your audiences concerns with the development?? Lock in and get a grip as a company cause this cash grab tactic you guys have going on with all your advertising and not fixing blatantly obvious problems and bugs that consistently get voiced is only going to take you guys so far.

Actually fairly decent

I didn’t expect this game to meet my expectations but it actually ended up exceeding my expectations in ways. Some things that bother me were the blue heart gem currency & pulling system. It’s already so difficult to get the blue gems, and it gets more expensive the more you pull. Ive been playing non-stop to get the gems so I can get the hair and clothes I want, but it’s very tiring. Only way to get blue gems, as far as I know, is from quests (which are limited) & the events (which there’s still not much to claim from there). Also, the moped is excruciatingly slow for how big the map is. I understand it may be a slower paced game, but it takes forever to get from my house to another location. However, I do think the open world aspect exceeded my expectations. It’s pretty open to exploration with several different locations. Its thought it’d be much less, which made me happy the map was large. Also, the hobbies aspect is satisfying. I especially am fond of the fishing “minigame” so far. However, aside from fishing though, the rest are sort of boring. So, overall, it’s nice. Not my favorite but it definitely exceeded my expectations, and im hoping it will only improve from here on out!

Self-built towns (and other random totally crazy, far-out, possible future ideas)

I have some ideas, and I genuinely believe I would have given this game five stars if the self-built towns hadn't eventually had to become public. Sometimes, I enjoy playing alone or with my friends, and I think it would be wonderful for players like me to have a special town all our own—perhaps with a unique spot for our houses, where we can choose our preferred plots. I think that would be so special, and it would be even more amazing if we could live with others too! My friends and I are hoping for a roommate option, and I believe many other players might find that just as exciting. Maybe there could be a joint build mode so multiple people can help build and decorate the house—imagine the fun! And this part is a bit of a stretch, but the pets made me think: what if we could adopt babies and care for them in our homes, take them on quests, and watch them grow as we nurture them? They could stop growing at the child stage so they can talk and follow us, or stay home if we prefer. Dressing them up once they’re older would be absolutely adorable! Plus, if you and a friend could co-parent the kids, that would be incredibly heartwarming. That's all, and thank you for such a fun, beautiful game!

Lovely cozy simulation

I have had my share of playing many farming/building/dress-up/ cozy games in a nutshell within my reach ever since I was a youngin, and let me say this is very fun! To start off, there’s loads of content already ready without even spending a dime, so don’t worry for unexpected wait timers thinking you have to spend some type of currency only really accessible with real money to speed things up; you don’t. There’s pets, friends to meet, houses to build/decorate/ cute customization options, and totally cute photograph spots to take pics with your friends/critters! Now, you might be wondering,( now why did I give it a 4 star?) well, this is mainly due to the fact that,( at least when I play,) this game is supposed to be multiplayer right? Well yes it is. And I have come across players, a few times at least. However it seems that it’s pretty deserted when I get on to play so far no matter when I join. There’s the npc players, which is pretty normal to see, but for a multiplayer game I’d hope to see more players walking about, hanging out with others, etc, to really get that cozy town village vibe I thought when I downloaded this. In conclusion, this is a really great game for those who don’t really have those high end pcs, or whatever since you can play this on mobile devices,( as I am playing this on my I pad myself,) and I also recommend that if, and when you play this, to make sure you set your frame rate to 30 fps instead of 60, especially for mobile,( it was kinda glitchy for me at the start of it all.) anyways, that was my review! Hope whoever reads this gives this game a go! Thank you!!

Some Bugs and Preferences

So I want to start this off by saying that I love this game so far but i have encountered a couple of issues so far. For one I purchased 3 recipes from Massimo's cooking store, Fish & chips, Cheese Cake and Grilled Mushroom but they dont show up anywhere. i've checked my mail, my backpack and the cooking stove, i dont know if i accidentally deleted them or sold them or something but i cant find them anywhere. Secondly, I've noticed when placing custom markers on the map they dont show up on the mini map so it's hard to find them unless i'm tracking them which is a bit troublesome to open up the big map and select to track them one by one rather than just being able to see them on the mini map. Third, Pets, absolutely love the idea however I wish there was a way to trade out the animals I picked out in the beginning since I was unaware of the different breeds that show up in the animal shelter as well as unaware of there being a limit of only 2 pets which when i first start playing i just chose any cat and dog to complete the quest. Fourth and probably the most annoying feature in the game for myself is that in order to place items or plant items and to fish you have to be directly in front of where you want to aim and looking at it and its very finicky to get things in the right spot, i think it would be much easier to either point and click where you want to place something to make things less of a hassle of trying to get your character in the right spot. These are just some things ive noticed so far since playing the game since release that have been a bit irritating to deal with for myself.

I love the game so much but a few problems

Love the game very much it's all most my life. Here r the problems.1. I want to make houses with out saving my builds and plus I'm all most at level 30 for a island. So I like if u will add more islands for only 50 stars for the islands and make 10 islands for each person.2. I want to get the pink ice skates but it's going to be a long time in till I get them plus I did something wrong for the ice skating challenge but I don't know what I did wrong I don't even think i did anything wrong with it.3. Why can't we get 100 cons every 2 mins we play and get 15 daily challenges to level up your DG member level.4. I need there to be more clothes that are not a lot of money bc the best clothes are in the shop but that means there a lot of money so make them not so much money oh and make more pink clothes. One more thing I want to talk more to talk to friends but u can only say stuff a but fix it to talk more stuff to friends and make a chat that only friends can see so u can see If u missed something a friend said u can still see it in the chat and only see stuff that friends said when u joined and see stuff that people who are not ur friend but see only this ##### in as many stuff thay said. Thanks for reading please do it if ur the owner of the game. Love the game byee! ;)

A Real Review <3

For those who want a real review, besides “cute”, “awesome”, “the servers won’t let me in” (when the game literally didn’t launch yet) here you go! this app is a relaxing game focused on chill gameplay, the servers work closely to those in roblox, there’s people already in them, but you can invite friends if there is room, you can interact with them, but not necessary if you don’t want to. Yes it’s cute, from the overall aesthetics, to clothing, furniture, pets, and more, it’s super cute. Be who you want to be, prioritize in the hobbies you want to prioritize in, whether that’s gardening, fishing, cooking, bird-watching and more. Now, this is a gacha game, not an expensive one I’ll say, but that might make people upset, even though it’s a free game and these cosmetics aren’t necessary! You can buy cute clothes and furniture without spending real money, and the overall prices of gems aren’t that expensive compared to other gacha games. The gacha doesn’t take away from the game, they don’t force advertisement in your face, and I quite literally forgot about them because the styles aren’t really my taste. What can be improved? Well I think this game should have voice acting 100% it fits the cozy atmosphere, there’s not an overwhelming ammount of things going on, it deserves that kind of immersion. The cooking should have a more interactive mini-game, for example the ability to chop your vegetables first, or mix together ingredients before cooking them. The ability to have private servers if that is possible. To be able to save outfits to quickly pick them. More sleepwear options, and so on! I’m excited to see the direction this app will take, wishing for the longevity of this game that is able to capture the chill essence so many of us have been looking for! 💗

BEST GAME IVE PLAYED IN A WHILE

This game is literally the game of my dreams! It combines all my favorite games into one! If you like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, SIMS, you’ll LOVE this. Or at the very least, enjoy it a lot. This game is so so fun and enjoyable! There is SOO much stuff to do! And even if you just want to chill, you can quite literally do that. The map is HUGE, so many features, furniture, accessories and clothes On top of that, you get many opportunities to get so much free stuff! And the developers most definitely do not cut you out. If you do decide to make a purchase, in my honest opinion (also as someone who doesn’t like to “waste” money on games) it’s actually worth it. You get the most cutest moped for your first purchase and you can literally purchase the $0.34 hearts pack. You can 100% play, spend NO money, and still have fun. On top of all this, the game runs so smoothly. My phone was 100% charged, I played for 4 hours and my battery was barely at half. I’m super impressed with how smooth this game runs with the graphics it has. Only downside (in my opinion) is the tutorial aspect is very long. You do a ton of quests, which does earn you a lot of money, but it takes time before you can unlock all the features. Still soooooo worth it though! I’ve probably earned at least 25,000 coins from the tutorials alone

Sad

I want to start this review with this first yes, no one is forcing money to be spent in a “free” game, but when you love a game (if you are able and only if) adding support to those who work on the game so they can go home to their families with a smile and food on the table, is why you do give money to this type of game. But, when a game doesn’t care about its player is when things turn for the worse, and I fear this is becoming the case.

The title is the truth to this review. A fear I will have to end my this app journey before it starts. I have been excited to play this game every day for the passed week, only for the more I play the more I find people (whom have which played for much longer) saying they are hurting by the developers lack of care for us who aren’t on CN servers. The more players who are starting to say they have wasted their time with this game and its predatory system. In which makes it hard to receive any value in the spending of their hard earned money especially in today’s real life climate. This review will probably seem as ‘comical’ to some but to others it’s the truth. The truth is this, many people see this game as a way to leave real world issues and be able to smile, but when the game only sees its player as money symbols what really are we the player escaping truly? We leave one beast for another.
