Not worth the money

I downloaded Brainrot to help with my screen time. I was surprised and a bit annoyed when a subscription was needed. I wasn’t going to pay but when exiting out there was a 50% off the annual plan. 1) that feels scammy. Just offer the $25/year subscription straight away instead of baiting people in with the higher rate. 2) $5/week is insane! For a screen time app that is available default on iPhone? Either way I decided to try since my screen time is out of control. The interface is a bit clunky and there’s a lot of tabs at the bottom that can be confusing to navigate. The default start is to brick your phone. I don’t find this helpful or useful. I think it’s an exaggeration to expect people to brick their phone. I tried to set up some automations for when to limit my screen time. None of them would stay. I had multiple instances of automations I set up disappearing or reverting back to the default. Super annoying! I decided to add the widget to my Home Screen but it would never update. It would always stay at 99 even if it was something much lower. I tried restarting Brainrot but that didn’t help. There were multiple times where Brainrot would say it could not connect to the apps and I needed to refresh things. I really was hoping this could be useful. But with the scammy feeling with the discount, the automations not working or resetting, the broken widget, and the clunky interface, it’s not good.

Wish there’s a free trial/free option with less features

Requires you to pay just to use Brainrot . I think it’s a cool idea but I’m not paying an annual fee without trying it out first. I also didn’t like that it offers a 50% discounted version only when I tried to exit from the paying page. $25 a year isn’t too expensive if it works, and I’ll be willing to pay for it but I wish there’s a free trial version or a free option with less feature for me to try before having to commit the annual payment.

Everything is blocked by a paywall

I love the concept of Brainrot, however after I downloaded it and went through the entire tour/tutorial thing and it took me to a screen wanting me to pay. As usual, I clicked the ‘x’ button then it just kept taking me through a loop of different screens to pay for the “full version” as if any part of it is free. I was hoping there’d be at least a few free options rather than having to pay for a premium monthly subscription

The app is simply useless

Brainrot idea is genuinely compelling, and I really wanted it to work. Unfortunately, the ongoing bugs with Screen Time make it completely unusable. Apps get blocked at the start of the day, the usage tracking is consistently inaccurate, and as a result I can’t rely on Brainrot at all.

It’s frustrating because the whole purpose is to reduce phone use, yet I’ve ended up spending far more time trying to troubleshoot the issues or figure out how to request a refund. At this point, I feel I’ve received no value from the purchase and wish I could get my money back.

Unfinished Buggy Mess, DO NOT PAY

The concept of Brainrot is fantastic, but Brainrot itself is barebones, full of bugs, and has no right to cost money at this unfinished stage. It is not integrating well with iOS so the widget doesn’t work, minor issue. I scheduled my blocked app times and it makes you go through several steps to access them (as it should). Tried to access Instagram to look at a business’s page, but when you follow those steps, this app doesn’t actually give you access. At this unfinished stage, even the discounted $25/year is an absolute scam.

Ridiculously Expensive

Just like others have mentioned, I was very excited to use Brainrot, only to find it’s a subscription—and a hefty one for such a simple app that basically just utilizes your iPhone’s “Usage” function. I would have been willing to pay a one-time fee, or even accept ads on a lite version, but neither are an option. Considering one of the main focuses is to “gain control of your life”, I find it odd they would require a subscription, and overall just feel disappointed :/

READ BEFORE YOU BUY

Brainrot is a great idea. Main word being idea it sets you all up and you answer the questions that it gives you, tells you how bad you are at not looking at your phone tells you how much of your life you’re wasting and then tells you to pay. When I got Brainrot, I was just trying to help me not be on my phone (obviously) but this made me wanna get a 12 hour screen time because it’s just misleading and makes you pay so if you’re not willing to pay, don’t get Brainrot

I want to love this app so badly

I haven’t ever, in the history of having an iPhone, ever left a review on a product. I have never wanted to love an app more than this. I have significantly decreased my screen time, but the glitches make it so deeply frustrating to use. Brainrot will reset my screen time after a day of perfect use. For example, today, I know I had about 2 hours of screen time, then upon opening it, poof gone. Zero minutes of screen time and somehow 99 pick ups. It has also deleted my usage over the past week. I was proud of my progress and now it is gone.

Also it has completely locked me out of facebook, I have to disable Brainrot entirely and re-download facebook to even access it again. I can’t toggle on and off blocked apps without severe glitches. I am very frustrated that I paid money for Brainrot and am now considering deleting it and finding a different solution. Very hopeful but ultimately extremely disappointed. I hope this will be fixed but I will be pursuing a refund.

Great concept needs improvement

I love the concept of Brainrot and it’s the reason I’ve bought a year long subscription. I definitely appreciate the discount to $20 or whatever it was. I like the messaging it provides to steer you away from apps you’d rather not spend so much time on and I like how difficult it makes it to use the apps that you want to block. I think there could be some better functionality though with the widget on the screen and the score it shows. I’ve found that it often shows not the right score for me or says messaging that isn’t right. Don’t want to complain too much though, I’ve found it has dropped my screen time already this week. Just simple updates.

Good Design with Performance Issues

Brainrot has potential, I like the overall concept. That said I am not continuing past the free trial. “Refreshing the blocking system” fixed initial issues I had, but it still has a mind of its own. When I extend my time for 15 minutes, the blocking turns back on prior to 15 minutes. You’d think basic functions like a timer would work. Also it should penalize you more if you extend for long periods of time. Not sure why extending 1 minute and 15 minutes is considered the same amount of “brain rot”. Can’t justify paying for this one.

It ok, let me explain

Yes, it is not free, but if you just explore Brainrot a bit; you can get it for only $25 bucks a year or $2.08/month. It is buggy, but it gets the job done. For me, it slightly reduces my screen time and is a cool concept. Would I recommend? Yes and no (Yeah I know, not very useful.) But I think it has its ups and downs. Buggy but also reduces some of your screen time. But it does cost money, Apple screen time does that for free. Obviously, apple screen time isn’t gonna be as fun. But it’s your choice.

Loved it until I didn’t

Right off the bat i knew I was gunna love Brainrot. Fun concept, great design, very interactive and educational. Everything initially is so well thought out! It isn’t until AFTER you’re prompted to share your data and allow them access to my screen time app info, that they hit you with the pay wall. Not cool 😑 get your bag but dam at least ask for it AFTER the sale is secured. Remember folks, your data is gold.
Final discounted offer was $25 for the year btw.

Very Effective yet Inconsistent

Brainrot has helped me cut back on my screen time on apps I struggle limiting my use. The interface is tedious enough to rethink my choices. However, I noticed a “bug” in that the brain display isn’t accurate on the interface and the more times I push the “add more time” button, the more the brain deteriorates despite only asking for 5 mins to check something on the apps. It’s not a problem but it doesn’t accurately reflect the brain health. For example, today I’ve pushed the “add more time” like 8 times and the brain is all rotten, despite my actual brain health being at 93% and in perfect condition. Thus, not a bug but annoying enough and inconsistent. Still a very effective app I 100% recommend.

Is amazing five stars

This helped me so much on reducing my brain level. I was scrolling on my phone before all of this and then I downloaded this everything changed. I started working out. I started touching grass as going outside and now I get to live longer.

Chill and Encouraging App

So far I’ve been using it for a couple days and I’ve loved it, don’t know why you have to spend the money for the plus version but I’m happy for now! Fun little idea and it’s encouraging for me. Nothing too intense for a screen time app and it’s a good widget to have on my home screen too.

10/10 recommend this app

It’s so easy to use and the brain visual is extremely helpful! I’m a content creator and it’s easy to get lost on Instagram, Brainrot keeps me grounded and makes me want to get off my phone so my brain can heal. 10/10 recommend. If you’re considering downloading I definitely reccomend it.

Cool idea but doesn’t work well yet

Tried it out for a day, every time it blocks an app, there is no way around getting in - sends notification and restricts app but doesn’t allow it when I agree that I want to get back into an app for a certain amount of minutes.

An app that actually does what it promises

this app has genuinely helped me cut down on screen time—results have been well above my expectations. The little brain avatar is a clever and hilarious reminder when I’ve been scrolling too long. Brainrot is simple, clean, and surprisingly effective. I’ve been more focused and feel better overall. Highly recommend if you’re trying to be more intentional with your phone use.

Best thing I could have done for my brain

Brainrot is really awesome! I’ve cut down my screen time from almost 9 hours to 4-5 hours on the first week. And I stopped scrolling completely! I feel much better and already and found so much time for myself and for reading and doing things off my phone. 100% recommend

Fantastic

Amazing app. Has everything you need in a screen time app. People are complaining about the price as if $5 a month isn’t worth at least an hour of your life back every single day.
