I know UnidenRTACH is brand new, but would have thought it’d at least connect to the detector. Their website says the R8 is compatible (along with the R8w)

I appreciate the effort but without the ability to update firmware or database in the RD via BT UnidenRTACH falls short of other existing apps.
The inability to update via UnidenRTACH is most impactful for those like myself who are unable to use the Uniden MacOS app as it is currently broken.

Just bought a R8W, and received it within 24 hours. Fantastic shipping. Did the install with my existing power hook up and everything everything went flawlessly. Connecting from UnidenRTACH to the right out detector was super simple with the instructions provided. Check to make sure it was on the latest firmware, which was super easy. Connected it to Wi-Fi, which took 15 seconds. Just make sure when you’re connecting to Wi-Fi you join the Wi-Fi on your phone that you want the radar detector to join so it easily picks out the SSID. Overall user experience has been great. Looking forward to using my new Uniden.
