Good Concept - Terrible Execution

For $1 I’m not mad. That’s more replay value than a bag of chips. But as much as I wanted to enjoy the game I just couldn’t. It’s the upgrading system. Specifically the green diamonds. They’re tied to most things you upgrade including health. The developers intentionally make the game hard by making the enemies stronger. But you the player really don’t get stronger. The issue with health comes when you need to repair yourself with the green diamonds which you barely find. Remember you need those to upgrade other stuff as well. In a game like Dead Cells you regain health after every stage or even pick up food during game play. Not in this game. It just makes for a not so fun experience. The enemies are repetitive with no real distinction of character. By the way the Crab boss is one of the stupidest bosses I’ve encountered in any game. Not because he’s hard but because he’s programmed to keep attacking with no real way to combat his movement. Is this worth a buck, yea but be prepared to be disappointed.

Purchase is bugged

I bought the full game unlock. When I opened OceanKeeper next time it prompted me to purchase it again, when I tried it recognized I had already bought it and let me play. Fast forward a day and it pops up for purchase again but will not let me click, keeping me from playing the game. I can back out and go to the other menus, just can’t play the actual game after I paid for it.

Illegible UI Ruins It

On an iPhone 12, the entire UI is basically illegible without a microscope. I gave up after a few minutes because the minuscule texts and tiny user interface elements made the game a painful experience. Might be good if they fix the UI for *mobile* devices. Might be worth trying on an iPad, but if you're using an iPhone, don't bother.

Nothing to do in this game

Gameplay loop is simple, you're a human gathering materials for 90 seconds and then you're in mech form defending against swarms. But there's no story and no point to this game. You just play this loop, upgrade your character after death and go back in.

No story, no mission. Only a single level and the same four monster types and two bosses.

Don't waste money on this.

Pay to play after free trial

Game was ok. Leaves a sour not when you go to hit play again after trying the second main weapon that isn’t good so you die quick and you can’t play more without paying for the full game.

Love it but there’s issues

It’s a great time sink when you just want to play a game on the go but I’m running into the same issue as other with buying the full version and then not being able to play anymore. Devs seem to not be responding and the Apple Store help center is useless as usual

Good overall, but some issues.

This is a quite enjoyable game overall, simple and not too repetitive gameplay. My biggest issue is that when purchasing some of the permanent upgrades with the currency you accrue during each run, these upgrades will not take affect or for some reason revert back to an unpurchased state thus wasting the resource…

Would love to see this issue fixed in an update.

No IAPs, decent but repetitive

This is a fun little game, definitely can pick it up for the $0.99. You are basically drilling to get items on a timer and then fighting off monsters. You get upgrades via the items, but it really is the same level over and over and I haven't maxed out everything but already getting kind of bored. I'd say still an ok buy but play-wise could use some more variation.

Has potential but incomplete

There's no endgame or story, just an endless free play mode.

It's still fun until you max everything out, but there's no payoff or new challenges.

Gets repetitive after wave 25. I maxed out everything in the shop after the fourth run.

Wishlist: more things to break up repetitive wave
An upgrade that tells you what mines already visited
Some obstacles in mines later on like a puzzle game... Different mines
Maybe add more rogue like elements such as branching paths and different builds to try out

10/10

I love the game but I was able to finish upgrading everything too quickly. If you add in a few more items and give us some mechs to upgrade/unlock it would definitely increase or prolong engagement

Fun game but one problem

I bought the complete game once already but now it’s not letting me continue saying to buy the full game but it won’t let me click on anything from that point on

Really? I bought the game and now it tells me to buy it again

I literally bought this game for .99 cents and then it tells me to pay 2.99 just to play. Can you guys at least make it so that if you bought the game with money before the IAP can play the game without paying again? It’s really unfair that I buy a product early on to then just to have pay again. Make it so that I can restore purchases as well.

Edit: It has been fixed, It did take some time but the fix is done.

U

I love how the ocean theme adds a refreshing twist to classic digger gameplay. Every level feels unique, and the monsters keep the challenge alive. Highly recommend!

B

I would love to give this game a higher rating, but I can't honestly give it a 5/5. I liked it, I liked seeing several dome keeper and wall world style game modes in the game at once. I had a few issues with it though. I don't understand why the settings menu always lingers for a few seconds, and overall the UI wasn't easy to use.

👍🏼

I appreciate the casual gameplay that allows me to dive in and enjoy whenever I have a few minutes to spare.

Simple but has potential

Fun game so far. Enjoying the two different phases (digging vs defending) and learning the upgrade options is simple. My biggest gripe is how tiny everything is on screen. Bumping the UI text up a size could help a lot, as well as making the dig portion more zoomed in (a lot of the screen is empty). The no-controller controls are fine but not great. I’ll probably play mostly with a controller. Excited to see what future updates bring!

C

The gameplay is super addictive! Digging through layers while battling against hordes of monsters is just plain fun. I can’t get enough of this cool adventure!

🫰🏻

The ocean-themed visuals are stunning, and the roguelike gameplay keeps me on my toes. I’m always excited to see what monsters I’ll encounter next!

Tanya

Digging for resources and crafting my arsenal makes every session feel rewarding. Highly recommend!
