Fantastic!!! With capital FANTASTIC

Avid FF player here who grew up on FFII and FFIII (IV and VI for those if you not in America) Favs are FFII, III, V, VII, IX, X, XIII...really all of them except maybe for X2 (that was a little too Charlie’s angels for me and disappointing in adding to the X story but nice to see the outfit idea from V come back). This game makes me want to go back and play ALL of them again. Dynamics are slightly confusing at first as to where I should be spending my efforts and what items are more important than others. But that all becomes clear after a few days and completely negligible to the amazing recollection of FF events and scenes that are brought to life by this game. An absolute MUST for anyone who is a fan of ANY of the final fantasy games and even to those who have never delved into the fantasy world. Hearing all the classic music from both minor and boss battles as well as area music and battle sounds has been a treat. To the creators: thank you from the bottom of my kingdom heart and congrats on an epic win. And an extra thanks for adding accessible characters like Rubicant and Golbez. My bards hat is off to you!

Finally, a Fantasy Game for Fans!

As a long-time fan of the Final Fantasy series, I can honestly say that this game hits all the right points of being a great little homage to the main series (and, even some of the side-games)! It certainly delivers on its promise of experiencing classic stories and story fragments in a whole new way!
Seeing all the characters from the ever-expanding game multiverse represented in good ol' Final Fantasy VI style, be it playable characters or bosses, and seeing the masterfully-drawn backgrounds in the same style, is really a treat and feels very nostalgic in a lot of the right ways! Plus, there's a near-unlimited amount of content, be it playable characters, missions, items, story arcs, events– ALL that jazz!
Best of all? The game is FREE, and it WANTS you to play it for as long as you like, no strings attached! That's VERY unlike a lot of other mobile games – even ones from big-name companies not unlike Square-Enix!

I kind of which there was a way to outright PURCHASE equipment or items – as in, buy "starting" equipment for new party members, and such – and there are a few bosses who border on the side of ludicrous, in terms of difficulty. But, all-and-all? This game is a WHOLE lot of fun for NOT a whole lot of money and not a whole lot of storage space. If you love the battles of classic Final Fantasy games and enjoy retro, pixel art style graphics, then give this game a whirl! I did, and I LOVE it!

I love this game but here’s my issue

I’ve had this game since the start launch. And I’ve loved it ever since!!! I’ve never spent a dime on the game except for the time where they had the anniversary bundle their second year for operation which was fairly cheap and not that bad of a deal hehehe I got my noctis high level thanks to that bundle! And since I’ve been playing for so long it pains me to say that I’m a have to leave this review with what has been happening recently. Recently I’ve been having to load longer only to see the message of a error has occurred or something to that effect and I have to either retry or return back to menu which just leads to an endless cycle of me waiting and it’s saying the same thing. I try to reinstall FINALFANTASYRecordKeeper and see if I could fix the issue that way but nothing seems to come of it and it pains me to lose out on all the six year anniversary stuff but I can’t play the game the way it’s functioning and until a later update fixes the issue i’m just gonna have to delete FINALFANTASYRecordKeeper and it pains me to say this because this was one of my favorite Final Fantasy mobile apps out there because of how unique it was and how easy it was to get currency to summon! However as of today I’m sorry to say this but I’m a have to delete FINALFANTASYRecordKeeper ;(i’ve been a supporter since the beginning but up until now I haven’t received the same love that I’ve been giving the game for five years...

To the creators

Hey thought this game was pretty cool. But to be honest was never a big play games on touch screen person so I hope you don’t take offense. How ever I was curious to see if the creators of this also helped with any of the other games. Like for instance the console ones, like FFX. Mainly because I’m fascinated with blitz ball. Have been since I was like ten, and I’m 20. So was wondering if y’all would be interested in making it somehow work for a phone game since it would be simple movement controls since passing, and shooting, and all those options happen while the game is paused. I’m sure it would be quite a bit more work than I could imagine to do something like that, but that’s an app I’d consider paying for as long as it didn’t require a constant WiFi connection to play. I might know a couple other people who’d probably agree except I haven’t really talked about it much. Its kinda just a thought I had like wonder why they don’t do blitz ball. But if you do decide to do something like that I’d be very excited to hear about it.

A truly fun and excellent game

So I’ve not had much success with mobile games; always hit a wall with monetization. Not so with FFRK. The game has literally thousands of hours of free content. It does have a stamina system, you will be waiting and/or paying in the early stages. You can also buy item draws, a little lootbox-RNG based but you get “mythril” pretty constantly so you can save that up too. As for the actual game, it’s a Final Fantasy fan’s dream. Every character from every game, with lots of upgrades and special moves and so many things. Just try it! I for one run with all Final Fantasy IX characters maxed at level 99 with a bunch of cool soul breaks. Only way to fight the hardest challenges the game offers. It takes time and dedication to progress but again, you can play this completely free and not miss a thing, just progress much slower at first. I will say I’ve probably spent a lot of money, relatively, but it’s worth it for this game!

Great Game, Hoping for Accessibility Improvements

I love this game. I am a blind iOS user that accesses my phone with the built in screen reader, VoiceOver. This game works surprisingly well with the phone's screen reader. This means that in a sense, I now have a chance to play all of the Final Fantasy games I can not play due to lack of sight.

I've been enjoying the experience very much. However, I've hit a snag. I've defeated all the realm dungeons I can play by brute force. Once you get past level 140 dungeons though, this tactic appears to be mostly impossible.

The reason I have to brute force the game is because the one major area the game does not interact with VoiceOver is during battle. It reads nothing on the screen. This means I can't see my HP or what I'm targeting. This means no healers, and generally no buffs.

I doubt I will be able to defeat the nightmare dungeons under these conditions, or most high level event battles. I've done surprisingly well so far, even mastering most of the realm dungeons I've played. However, now I'm stuck logging in and playing power up dungeons, getting relics or obtaining free or low level gifts. I really hope that somehow the developers can be reached to work something out. I don't think it would take a lot of work, since a huge chunk of the game already works with VoiceOver.

I'm giving this 5 stars anyway because of the months of enjoyment I've already gotten from play. Here's to many more.

A Game for FF Lovers

If you are a longtime fan of the franchise than this game will hit all the right spots on the nostalgia track for ya as well as let you experiment with those what if scenarios you always wanted to try but couldn’t like “What if I had Sephiroth in Cloud’s party?” Or “What if Cloud and Squall teamed up?” This game offers those choices and much much more (All Villian team anyone?). FFRK also provides enough lucrative missions, trials and extremely lucrative events going on that you don’t have to spend a dime to get the best stuff. You can keep playing for 8+ hours straight instead of the play for 15 mins and then put it away for awhile like most games with the limited actions that refresh every 24 hours mechanic. This game has that mechanic but trust me as long as you dive into a healthy amount of Realm Dungeons between other stamina reducing activities you won’t run out infact you’ll probably end the session a few hundred stamina over the cap!

How the !?%$&@# can you do so much with two abilities?

Wonderful game for FF fans, but still great if you are not. This game has evolved from being a very minimalist nostalgia lover’s dream into a complex action-packed game with damage flying everywhere. If you are new, the game throws free resources at you so you can get a head start. But there so many levels of difficulty and so much content that players can progress at their own rate and always have the next step be in reach, if only you can figure out a strategy to conquer it.
I do wish the weekly events would be more like they used to be, and do a better job of telling the stories of the characters through battles. I also wish that players would be given some free mythril, or maybe full-price and half-price 11-draw vouchers, at the start of a fest or when a lot of draws drop at once, because it is hard to collect enough of the gear needed for enough heroes to be able to progress.

A fun Final Fantasy Lite experience!

Final Fantasy: Record Keeper provides an entertaining light version of the RPG experience the mainline series is known for, with a special appeal for those already familiar with it. You can recruit characters from your favorite Final Fantasy installments—who, for the most part, retain their general stat inclinations—and make dream-teams of any five characters you like.
Additionally, characters are not recruited through a random grab bag mechanic, but instead through as non-random rewards from fixed tasks, making them much less frustrating to obtain.
The game boasts a large number of Final Fantasy scenes to revisit, including regular, cycling events—which do recur, for those worried about missing them permanently—and every mainline Final Fantasy installment is represented, as well as Tactics, Type-0, and World of Final Fantasy.
It is free, so for those interested in trying it out, there's no harm in giving it a shot!

4 years and counting...

I play FFRK every day. It’s fantastic. No ads, all free, you just gotta save your mythril. I’ve played for about 4 years now and I still love it I’m not gonna lie, I’ve spent money on it but most of all the good stuff I have gotten has been for free. They really do a good job keeping up with this game. Every Thursday and Sunday new content is released, sometimes more than that but they have festivals all the time giving out free stuff. New players have it made compared to what it used to be like but it has gotten better with time, just like fine wine. So much customization, and characters make this a dream come true for all FF fans. But I’m a diehard. If you are too, your already playing but if you want to give it a spin, I highly encourage it. I play no other mobile games as a result and haven’t for close to 3 and a half years now if that tells you anything. Get it love it play it.

Nostalgic and not greedy

For a guy that grew up in the era of Squaresoft, this really takes me back. You will get to take a trip down memory lane and experience all of the key points in all of your favorite Final Fantasy titles without needing to do all of that running around.

On top of that, the game is free and does a great job of not pestering you to make any sort of purchasing. I have already used their in-game bonuses to get three X10 (one 5* guarantee) loot crates and got some fantastic drops. They don’t seem to be terrible odds getting good stuff either. Maybe 1/20 drops is a really nice piece followed by 3/20 that are decent and helpful, and the rest you can use to sell or buff your good drops.

I am a huge fan of the FF franchise. Some of the recent apps Square has peddled out has been really greedy or just plain weird. But for those of you that want nostalgia, this is honestly PERFECT to scratch that itch.

Few recent problems

So lemmie start off by saying I’m a veteran to this game, I started the first month the global version came out so I have seen ALL the bugs thus far. For the most part, I have no quarrels with in game content. The FFRK team is remarkably quick with acknowledging feed back from their users and applying the good feed back to the over all mechanics and enjoyment of the game as well as multiple venues and quests in which to enjoy the game.

HOWEVER... one HUGE and noticeably TERRIBLE glitch in a recent update (maybe a few months or so) has made this game much LESS enjoyable and that is the constant loading screens from one desirable page link to another. This, for over 2-3 years now, has NEVER been a problem, but it seems that a recently BIG update has created this problem ALONG with even WORSE connection issues via realms for multiple user raids. The raid connections were already kinda iffy, but now you’re looking at MAYYYYBE connecting with only ONE user, (don’t get your hopes up) if that.

I’m holding at 3* because I love the game as well as all the final fantasy franchises and the ffrk really does work hard. That being said, these issues really should NOT be a solid problem for this long in my opinion. I will also note that this is happening (to a lot of people) while having a stable WiFi connection, clean ram & memory on phone, and fully updated App, appropriately subtracting at least 2*

Thanks for reading!

- Loyal FFRK Fan

One of my favorite games

I’ve played since launch, created two accounts, burned out on micro transaction games, then came back after a bunch of updates. I’ve seen the devs implement community feedback and engage with fans on social media, and it makes this a stellar example of how to do a free-to-play game. It provides a ton of content, frequent events, and a ton of nostalgia with no pay wall. In terms of gameplay, it has a streamlined classic JRPG feel, giving you bite-sized chunks of various Final Fantasy games. As a 10 year veteran of Final Fantasy XI, I got a real kick out of seeing them adapt the lvl 50 level cap Maat quest. There’s real love and creativity put into this game, and it shows. It’s great that they’re making an original story with Tyro and Elarra, makes it feel like a significant part of the Final Fantasy universe, like a Dissidia spin-off.

Best Mobile Game I’ve Played

I’ve played this game for over two years now and it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences with a single game ever. The bosses, the characters, the spells, the summons, the music, everything about FF comes together quite effectively in this game. The combat is very well done especially giving the variety of abilities in the game and devs continuously pump out content so you’re never bored for a second. It’s also very F2P friendly and if you do decide to roll, you’re guaranteed at least one 5 star relic. You can always save up for festivals like most people do and you’ll do perfectly fine that way too! Honestly, If you’re a FF fan then this game is a must play, but even if you’re not this game is definitely still worth checking out. It’s arguably a triple A game on mobile.

A final fantasy not to miss

I’ve been playing FFRK about 3 months after it first launched and had been a fan since. The updates and quality of the game has continued to improve over time.

FFRK provides a great sense of nostalgia from the old final fantasy titles. It also does a great job in introducing newer final fantasy titles. The newly added Record dungeon is a refreshing way to re-tell the stories of the final fantasy series.

The beauty of FFRK is that it is deep enough to be a time sink for hard core gamers and also friendly enough to be a casual experience of 15 - 30 minutes a day. This is especially important for me as I am a passionate gamer but no longer have the luxury to commit many hours into gaming with a full time job and newborn baby.

FFRK can be played completely free ($0 spent) with much progress if budget spending intelligently. I can vouch for this as I have 2 accounts, one is completely free-to-play.

However, FFRK is a gatcha model. Thus if you have a gambling addiction, problems with self control, the mentality of a perfectionist or fanboy-ism, you may be spending a lot more on FFRK than you would ever imagine. The model is slowly getting better, with better rewards for $ spent and guaranteed loot.

Absolutely terrible customer support

I’ve been playing this game with no issue for a couple of years now, and I loved it. I’d finally gotten together a good enough group of characters to finish the rest of the Nightmare dungeons when my last phone just up and stopped working. I got a new phone a few days later, and when I recovered my account from GameCenter, a previous account was recovered instead of the one I’d done so much work on. I contacted support, they asked for a bunch of information including receipts for purchases made on the account, and after I provided as much information as I could, they just stopped responding. I gave them almost two months to get back to me, and yet, nothing but crickets. No attempt to help me, nothing to try to retain me as a customer, not even an apology for not being able to assist in recovering my account. I’m out almost 200 dollars all told, and I’m extremely displeased about it, because at this point it amounts to basically theft. This review will stand until someone finally contacts me.

Good for a cellphone game.

The game actually has a bit more to offer than just plain nostalgia. Unlike FF: All The Bravest, this game actually lets you customize your party. The game has several pieces of special weapons/armor for each character. Each item gives the hero a powerful new ability. The problem here is that the method of obtaining these items is a gamble/luck of the draw system that requires in game currency. There is nothing you can do to increase your chances of getting the specific item you require to strengthen your team, so if you have bad luck the game doesn’t allow you to progress. It is surprisingly and frustratingly unforgiving in this way. You can spend months worth of earned currency and still get the shaft. You can drop a paycheck into the game for extra chances and still get nothing. It is the one true downfall of this game. It sometimes feels like I’m being dared to uninstall.

It's Been Real

Funny little game. Like many others, I played literally almost every day for three years from the day it came out. Loved watching the game progress and the reddit community that enhanced the game even more. It was really fun when the game was fresh and the content released was highly anticipated. I put in a bit of money here and there but played and beat all the most difficult content just from my in game means of playing.

I stopped playing about 3 months ago and I don't think I care to go back because the game has lost its novelty. There was a golden age here and I really do think it's over. Kind of sad in a way, I'm not sure what will become of my day one profile. It's been real though, I had a lot of fun.

Now onto Dissidia OO!

Used to be good

I started playing this back in 2016. It was pretty fun, and I enjoyed it a lot. However, things have changed a lot since then. There’s a bunch of new modes, some of which are pretty good, but now all the realm and event dungeons are super dumbed down. When it first started, there were originally at least three different battles (3 rounds each) per realm, all with unique enemy parties. Now it’s one battle, one round. It just puts you straight to the boss. It’s like this for most realms I’ve seen. Not to mention, the game practically hand feeds you everything. I just recently got a new phone, and opened up FFRK for the first time. On my first time opening up the game on a completely new account, I was immediately given *68 Mythril*!!! There’s a bunch of stuff like that in here, and it’s a shame considering how fun this used to be. Not to mention there’s a lot more loading time now more than ever, even on good Wifi.

Enjoying the game

The recent updates have breathed new life into the game. My major gripes are mostly all quality of life things that will hopefully be added soon. However, one of the biggest flaws I see is actually part of the draw system. While off banner pulling is exceedingly low, unlike some other games, the fact that it’s possible to pull archaic tools that don’t exist anywhere anymore and that can function as your “guaranteed” 5* is a no-win situation for anyone. Seeing a pull like that is morally destroying and, at least to me, incentivizes stopping all together because of how much can go into an 11 pull and how hard of a slap that old unique/shared/non-sb relic is. Even if it was just making it so the guaranteed 5* was on banner, I think it could do a lot for the, admittedly few times it does occur.
