4.8 out of 5
Hard game

I probably spent $60 trying to max everything in the game, and it was impossible with my first character. I spent most of the money and not only did I lose everything due to a glitch in the game, but also more valuable artists appeared on your song. How can you spend 1 million on a feature and the song doesn’t even get 1,000 views, which is probably equal to around 25 cents 🤦🏻‍♂️ With my second character, I can’t progress in any way. How can I help my character if I have singers with 80k followers who don’t even get 1k views on a song🤷🏻‍♂️ On top of that, I lost so much money trying to tour my artist. In this game, it’s all a loss for the player. All your other games are excellent, but this one is a no-go.

Impossible to Succeed

The revenue for streams and sales is so incomprehensibly low, and I’m basically funding these artists with 100k plus fans with my barista paychecks because they get exhausted from a tour of like 5 shows for about 3 years???? Lol. The game more or less tries to tell you to spend money to do remotely anything impactful but even then good luck actually climbing out of a couple grand because costs go up with your artists who randomly became viral from a decision you make or something making focusing on them virtually impossible because now they’re way out of your price range for tour costs amongst other things. I know it’s a stereotype that musicians are broke because of labels and whatnot but none of these people are signed and I’ve seen independent artists make way more money than the collective of 3 artists with hundreds of thousands of fans.

Lots of Work Needed

Chimpanzee has developed some exciting and well done games in the past. I make an effort to succeed in almost all of their games, so long as they interest me. This new installment has fell flat in comparison to the other great projects released by this company.

For starters, it is very hard to succeed in this game. A challenge is always fun, but there seems to be no way to “win” at this game. The Music Star app, where one starts out as an underground artist is easier and more exciting.

The manager spending all of their money on building up a studio is unrealistic. You spend more money “managing” artists then you do with helping their craft. There are no direct opportunities to help your artist, which would be realistic. I.e. events, bookings, trainings, press releases. Understandably, there are features not yet available such as touring, but I believe the game has completely missed the mark on the manager role of an artist.

I would suggest removing some features that are not what a typical manager worries about and incorporating features that do.

Early access

Very barebones, same m.o as their other games where they make the energy costs so high in order to manipulate you into paying for extra energy. There isn’t much to do, artists generate such a small amount of money that it’s actually detrimental to manage more than one due to the weekly energy drain. I gave it a 2 instead of one because I like the concept and art direction but everything else is trash. Don’t even bother doing the yearly checkups because 80 pct of the time it results in a permanent -1 or -2 energy. You should sell this game to EA or Ubisoft

Rough

This game is more rough than most that come from this company. I think that the way it works and finding talent is really hard. You kind of cant get a push and make a profit for years. I think to fix this game i would change how fast an artist can get signed. i have been playing since its release and have yet to get any song past a 60 overall. Also i think that there should be cheaper upgrades that would help immensily when trying to get a star to rise

Very, very slow

This game is a clear step down from previous titles. No hashtags for promo, less social media. The artists bring very little money to where you can spend 2 years and have gotten nowhere. Experience is slow and weekly jobs don’t ever increase, leaving you stuck waiting years to upgrade studio or sign artists (because, as said before, the artists you sign don’t make enough.)

Enjoy it, but it’s a bit of a frustrating game

I got the game when it was relatively new, which means there were, and still are a few locked features. Having tours added to the game definitely improves it, but having that aspect from the start would have made the gameplay experience a lot more interesting.

I also find it to be a bit difficult to get experience points. I have everything else maxed, but do not have my experience maxed, so getting quality artists is one in a million.

I also wish there were more songs you could buy with different genres. I’m seeing the same 5-8 genres every time, yet there are so many others.

Solid game

I am also an avid fan of the creators of this game and play everything they put out! This game has serious potential, but I want to echo what a lot of others have said. The game takes too long to get going and is not nearly as “realistic” in comparison to other games.

For example my manager is completely maxed out experience wise and attributes, in addition I’ve created all of my artists and they are all 90+ and they still get maybe $1k streams. Now I’m not saying that those should be automatic stream boosts, but on the feature list they are all considered 99s in terms of vitality. In the “Music Star” game when you’ve gotten to that point your songs are automatic hits and streaming well.

In addition I have featured several established artists like “lizzuo” (I always love the clever names) and the song is barely streaming. I really feel like this has been an ongoing gripe with people and would be great to see some update addressing this.

Great but one problem

I love this game and how there listening to the bugs players have but one thing I don’t like is when I make one of my artist take a 3 year or so long break to work on a album to gain 20 songs the game puts all the songs I’ve had siting there onto a random new album I didn’t make even tho I had a album I made and was getting ready to put all the songs into idk if this is a bug or if this what a artist does automatically but it’s a bit annoying. One more thing is that I can’t delete albums incase I don’t like the name or something which is also annoying other than those two problems the game is amazing and plays good just there other games

Love it so far but…

I will keep this short and sweet! I am enjoying the game so far, but I have one wish that I hope they add in the future, and that’s the ability to rename songs. When you are looking at the list of ghostwritten songs, it’s the same ones over and over. Sometimes the artists write songs with the same names of songs they already released. If I could at least rename them or if there was a remix option, it would make things more realistic.

Other than that, I’m enjoying it!

Adding meet-in-greets, listening parties and other things would be nice too. Just randomly thinking of things.

You Did It Again

I love all your games and this is one is definitely be added to the collection. However, I will wait for more updates before I fully become immersed into the game. Has a lot of potential.
Side note: it’s kinda insane y’all have released two games within this past year. I hope you guys aren’t overworking yourselves. All love!

Great Game but 1 Issue

I have an artist that I’ve had for over 25 years. He just reached 40 and decided to retire. His catalogue is worth $800 million dollars but now that he’s decided to retire I can’t sell it. I think I should still be able to sell his catalogue to the highest bidder regardless of retirement or not. Seems like a waste of a lot of money and songs if my artist just decides to retire. Other than that I think the game is great. One addition I’d add is awards for artist.

Love this game

I absolutely love this game! I love how you all react so fast! A bug that I’ve noticed is that when you send an artist on tour it goes to presale and I check 3 or so weeks later before the tour even starts it says that the tour is complete and I lose my money that i put into the tour

Thanks for listening to my last review. Another thing is

My mangement and my studio is at max, so i should be able to manage 8 artist buh i can only manage 7 somehow. Please let me know if this is part of experience and i still gotta wait(currently at 29) or its a bug thank you.

Love this game so far, but…

i’m have trouble finding compatible artist for trios. I can usually find 2 people compatible, but never more than 3. Can there be a way to group them up anyway and just try to build their compatibility along the way?

Also looking forward to the tour portion!! thank you for making such awesome simulation games!!!

Please Us Start Our Own Record Label

Im really enjoying playing the game, it took a while but i got the hang of it. I would really like to run a label for the artist i manage. I would love the ability to negotiate some of the contracts other labels give us. Plus merch. We should be able to sell merch for the artist. Thank you

Add music to album after release

I really love this game but I think you should add where we can add our music to the album when released cause when I released a song and I forgot to add it to the album I tried and looked for a way to add it but it’s no use I really think you should fix that though, PS nice games

Love the creators

I mostly have no complaints or add ons all the games created by you are fun and I love them, I like how u listen when some leaves a review and listen, that why ppl always push it as we know humans are insufferable, keep up the good work, this game is fun, a small problem with it is the annual check up bug( u tend to lose energy instead of gaining), that’s all thank u keep on releasing more sim games

You did it again! (One major issue though)

Great game! I love it so much! But when it tells you how many weeks a song takes to make no matter how many weeks pass it stays the same, I have had to let so many artists go because of this one of them was 1st in the world. If you could fix this soon it would be amazing! Thanks!

Games

I’ve been playing this game for a little while and it’s one of the first games to make you feel like you are not making any progress matter what you do. I would not recommend this game to my dead enemy.
