A half decent buggy mess

Let me preface this by saying that I have gotten my fair share of enjoyment out of this game, but some issues that have come up are flat out unacceptable. As far as gameplay goes this is a pretty standard runner, though I will say that the level diversity is nice. I’ve noticed that the game doesn’t do so well when doing a lot of things quickly (jumping and spinning at the same time for example) and I can say there will be times where you just want to yeet your phone because of it. Other than that the gameplay is pretty smooth and I experience very little lag when playing (on an iPhone XR). However the real issues start with the competitive and account aspects of the game. Right now there is massive loss of trophies (competitive points) and purple crystals (premium currency) happening and from what I can tell King isn’t doing much to try and fix it, so don’t be surprised if all those trophies you grinded for magically disappear or all those crystals you’ve been saving just vanish. If I’m being honest, I’d just wait until these issues get fixed before playing the game, trust me you’re not missing out on much. It’s just another runner game that has some unique quirks but overall is still pretty average. If you don’t really care about game breaking bugs that ruin progress then have at it and play to your hearts content but if you are expecting a polished and genuinely great game this is not it and I’d wait until a patch gets released.

Either spend a bunch of money or wait hours to play

The game is fun when your playing, but it’s full of systems made for you to put your money in the game. Every official level has a boss at the end of it, that can only be taken out by special weapons you craft. The thing is you have to craft the resources to make those weapons, and before you know it it takes an hour just to craft ONE of those, then the weapon itself will often take longer. The whole game just becomes about waiting for resources to respond, then waiting to turn that into weapon parts, then waiting to craft the weapon (which is only one use, you have to go through the same process every level) This could of been a great mobile game but every aspect of it was made to get as much money out of people through microtransactions, and if you don’t want to spend money, get ready to wait hours just to play a level that takes 2 minutes.

Snooze fest

I was sooo excited when I saw this game come up for preorder. I actually really don’t like the temple run style games but I absolutely love the crash bandicoot games and I thought for sure an IP with that much history must surely know how to make this entertaining. Boy was I wrong... I played for a solid week through the launch event just to be sure but it just gets “bang your head against the wall” repetitive and boring. The competitive mode was mildly fun and at least had stakes but the (bot) runners almost always won unless you were willing to watch 2 or more ads to keep running. I totally get the “farm stuff to make more bombs and stuff mechanic” but I could see that that was quickly going to escalate to just constantly waiting for stuff to brew just to keep playing and I just don’t need that. The last thing is, it seemed like almost every time I returned to the home screen there was some banner popping up saying buy this crap or get more of these things spend real money! Greed greed greed. And then they hit you with a subscription! For a toilet time mobile game? No thanks. Anyway, it’s not for me, but maybe it’s for you so I still gave it three stars.

Data download seems never ending

I was eagerly anticipating getting to play one of my favorite childhood games and was pleased after the first “intro” type level, which lasted around two minutes. It was very enjoyable, and that’s what earned this review two stars rather than just one.

I understood from the onset that I would need to download additional data in order to access further levels, and I was okay with that. However, it had me download a seemingly never ending string of data packs of varying size (anywhere from 65mb to 475mb) before I could advance. Unfortunately, I ultimately wound up deleting CrashBandicoot because I got frustrated. Again, I understand that by nature, this type of game requires large, additional downloads. But I feel that they can be better distributed, or at least can inform the user of how much data needs to be downloaded in total before advancing to the next level. Had I known what percentage I had already downloaded, perhaps I would have considered completing the remaining downloads. But since I didn’t have this information and didn’t know how many more downloads were left, I preferred to let it go and delete CrashBandicoot altogether, which is disappointing.

Good Fun, Good Graphics, but a Big Grind

A Crash endless runner seems like a fantastic idea. Especially when you factor in things like jumping around, sliding, and of course spinning into boxes. And while this game most certainly accomplished that, it also added in a resource management/crafting system to not only pad out game length, but also to have Microtransactions.
While this game isn’t too evil, the wait times can be atrocious if you don’t have much else to do in the day. Not on the level of say, Dungeon Keeper Mobile, but still pretty tedious. Let’s just pray King doesn’t make them worse with future updates. Other than the crafting system required to enter the main levels, the main gameplay itself is quite fun. It’s Crash on your phone, what more could you ask for? It isn’t an endless runner however, despite controlling as such, but it’s still well done. That being said, do make sure you set aside some other tasks to do if you’re going to play a quick round. Otherwise you’ll be either waiting around or pointlessly paying up.

Needs fixing and better design

If you’re playing casually then it should not be any problem. However if you’re playing competitive on the survival runs, beware. There are major problems with higher speeds that crash the game or if you’re lucky just clip through the ground. I’ve ran into two different times where the game just closed on me, loosing trophies. It’s clear that the game wasn’t made for speeds greater than 1.8 as that’s where mushrooms have zero hit box and certain maps like bear it don’t load and you have no choice but to watch bots and yourself drop into the void. Now the main design problem I have with the game is with the top side. Turtle woods and Dino might have tree brushes that completely obscure your vision, forcing you to drop and risk falling into a hazard. Bear it has platforms that clip through the cave arches that may as well be a wall. Didn’t realize it was a solid object, thought it’s more of a visual. If there is any way that King can thoroughly go through the game and troubleshoot it and hopefully fix it I will gladly move the rating to 5. I’m a huge crash bandicoot fan and this game has a great concept especially in competitive.

Worst boss fight

I just battled frosty N. Gin for the weekly season boss and boy let me tell you. HE’S BROKEN. And I’m not saying he’s difficult my first try got him down to 1 health. But since the map isn’t for ever and loops with a narrow path you have to take N.Gin takes that path too. However instead of realigning him self in the center he’s on the right side so his double ground slam attack is impossible to dodge like seriously. I can’t move to the center because his spikes are in the center I can’t move to the right even though theoretically his attack should be off the map it’s still on the right lane so I just run into and die. Like seriously I can’t beat him when the map repeats and he gets thrown off center. It’s basically you have to beat him before that or else to bad you’re dead watch and ad, pay gems, or lose all your steps. So you had me but this is it I’ve been fair with it given fair review for all the other boss fights and all the other bugs but this. this is something so dumb and broken that is no doubt going to make players mad. So fix your game I’m not buying any more passes or skins until I fee you’ve earned it. Don’t care if there’s a cool coco skin I’m not sinking money into a bugged out game.

Game shutting down!

I usually never write a review but this must be addressed.. will make it short.

First of all it’s a beautiful game with tons with interaction between collection and survival runs, and much more! The bosses are different but somewhat easy to beat, however the more you advance the longer it is to get the materials in order to defeat them. I am a big fan of Crash Bandicoot and I really enjoy the game overall, which is why I’m giving 5 stars!!

NOW let’s talk about survival runs!! EVERY TIME I’m playing my FIRST survival run the game just crushes. I’m running and once I reach around 250 trophies on my first run without dying, the game just shuts down. The annoying part is that I have to restart again loosing the trophies and losing one daily ticket to run!!! Doesn’t matter which character I choose, the game just dies. Im not sure if I am the only one but I hope the developers are aware and can fix this issue!!

N’sane complaints (PLEASE VIEW) updated 6-8-21

So I WOULD have rated better stars, but there are some things that make this game painful! 1. The cool down times on the supply runs and challenges 2. Not enough crystals or supplies on the runs 3. You need to gather WAY TO MUCH to make the bigger things 4. Three spaces per elemental crafting is not enough 5. You need to have internet to play the game 6. It makes me feel like you’re pushing your players to feel the need to spend a lot of money on crystals to really advance in the game. 7. It takes way to much grinding and it’s set up in a really slow manner to do that type of grinding. 8. There are TOO MANY “coming soon” attractions that need to be added, which makes the look and feel of the game unfinished Now I’d be more than happy to change my review if you could make changes to better the experience for your players. 9. During survival runs it crashes when you get past an accumulative amount of 600+ trophy I’ve lost so many because of this! I do hope you view these, thank you.

Fun game ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

This game is awesome but I do have a few suggestions to add in the game for a update in the future ok so I feel like the music for when your running should be different than the music when your changing your skin and second when you change your skin you should just hit the screen to run and not the button and that’s all. I love this game because I love crash and I love running games so this is just made for me because when I saw this game on preorder I saw it was free and so I got it and then I could not wait until the release date. You guys did a outstanding game on the game and I hope you guys can keep it up in the future. And these hearts are for the love that I put in this game when I first started playing it today ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎❣️💕💞💓💗💖💘💝💟❤️❤️🧡💛💚💙🤎🤍🖤🖤💜❣️💕💕💞💞💓💓💗❣️💖💘💝💟❣️💜💜❤️🧡🖤🖤🤍🤍💛💚💙🤎🤎💓💞🖤💜💕💞💓💗💟💟💘💖💖💟🖤💜💜🧡🧡🧡🤍😍🥰😻 Thank you for creating a awesome game.

Don’t like this game

This game is not as amazing as I thought it would be. First of all, I like the concept. It’s a pretty cool concept. The only problem is that it is waayy too easy. It’s also extremely slow. I would appreciate it if the speed gradually increased as the game progresses. I also feel like there are too many things going on at once. You have to make the serum, get the ingredients for the serum, etc. It’s pretty overwhelming. I also think the concept kind of gets boring at some point. It all the same thing. Run until you see the henchmen. Throw the serum at the henchmen, then repeat that same process again for multiple times until you defeat all of the henchmen. Then you move on to the boss. I didn’t think this was extremely challenging. It was actually pretty easy to defeat the boss. And this game is not an endless runner. An endless runner would run forever. The goal of an endless runner is to beat the high score. In this game you stop after beating the henchmen or the boss. I honestly think this game should have a free running mode where you can actually compete to beat your own high score. This game could use some tweaks.

So far so good

I dig it so far! It’s good to see Crash getting his mobile debut! I know it’s day one and all so some things to iron out. I feel like Crash runs really slow. I know he isn’t the fastest character but it seems to take a while or feels like it takes a while to beat a level. There’s not much going on and it would nice if he ran just a tad bit faster. Also I don’t like that there is no feedback whatsoever when I do anything. Give me at least some vibration when I throw a boom berry! Doesn’t have to be intense just a small nudge is fine. Hopefully this is something that is added once it gains that traction it will gain cos it’s Crash! Enemies are also very same-y.. Crash is known for a variety of enemies in the game and I dunno how long they can hold ppl with the same like 2 enemies each world. I feel I’m only saying negative things so here’s some positive. It’s fun. It’s gonna be a great time killer even without these things. I look forward to see what’s done with it!

Great Game, Annoying Bugs

I absolutely love the game. As an app game, it has a lot of potential and seems easy enough to play for both younger audiences but also challenging for an older audience through other methods of play. There are many different types of runs you can go on, including competing against other runners.

My biggest issue, and the reason for only giving this game three stars, is the fact that the game seems to overload itself and kick me out in the middle of important things. I’ve only been able to complete two competitive survival runs. The rest of the time, the game locks up and kicks me out. It does this more frequently now than it did in the beginning. If this issue for me was fixed, I’d completely change the review to five stars because of the great concept of a game. However, since it’s an issue causing me performance problems, I can’t rightfully give it that review as I struggle to even load in a game sometimes without it freezing up and kicking me out of the game.

Addicting

This game is great and reminds me of my childhood. I have one small issue with it though. The tutorial should be an option. It was so long and to be honest annoying. I know this is the reason my mom didn’t play it. It does get more challenging though and I enjoy that. I think it’s slightly overwhelming at first with the mechanics of the game for crafting.

Some top features of this game is a renewable way to get resources. It’s a fun way to just free run and get supplies for all the crafting. I also love the idea of the challenging other players. I just wish I didn’t face bots and was against real people but I can understand how difficult that would be to introduce into the game. But as you get better and beat more of the bots, you can get some high prized rewards if your team does well enough. Though there are many inactive teams and whatnot.

Overall I think this game is a pretty cool game, I think there’s room for some improvement but so far fun.

Crash is a Smashing Success!

I’ve never played a Crash game before, but when I saw that this had came out, I downloaded immediately! My first impressions?.. Amazing! This game might seem easy at first, and that is the case for the story mode (so far). but when you go into the gem runs, (and especially the multiplayer), it’s a whole new ball game. I can’t stress enough how much fun the multiplayer is! It’s just a shame it’s limited to how much you can play each day. Moving on to purchases, this game is NOT pay to play (or pay to win). I have purchased things, and I feel very satisfied with my purchase. And with ads... Well there are none, not forced at least. There are rewarded video ads, meaning if I decide to watch an ad I’ll get currency/resources. So overall, amazing game so far. There is WAY more I haven’t covered but yeah, great game!

Nice spin on Crash genre, but original still best

I’ve been playing Crash since the first game released on the PS1. It’s exciting to see it on mobile, and the game is relatively well made, but some of the aspects from Crash that I really enjoy (e.g., going off script, exploring, having to get creative to reach or complete tasks, and ultimately being rewarded for that with secret levels or gems, etc) aren’t included here and the constant running on a treadmill aspect gets a little boring. The different types of tasks (mining/farming items, crafting, and then using those items to defeat bosses) is unique and adds some flair. I also like the character designs and the challenges are frequent enough to keep things stimulating for now. But all in all I think I’ll lose interest quickly. Nothing can beat the console version (I’m a purist, so it’s PlayStation only for me!), but it’s cute to see characters I hold so dear make their way onto my phone/tablet.

Mediocre at best

No way all these 5 star reviews are coming from people who actually play the game. Im thinking they’re from developers and their buddies.

I’ve been playing this game for a long time. Probably within a few weeks of it being released. It was fun until I ran out of levels. Then I started focusing on seasons and survival runs. Then seasons went away temporarily, which I understand. Then the layout changed. I didn’t mind at first, but it’s very basic and no longer reminiscent of the original Crash games. More importantly, you can’t convert steps to trophies which pretty much makes collect runs pointless. It’s mostly easy to navigate though, with the exception of selling items for fruit which is hard to find.

If you are new and want to unlock levels, it might be interesting but once that is over, there’s nothing left. I decided to create 100 of every weapon out of boredom but I finished that 5 months ago so there’s literally nothing left to do.

Great at first, then #%*!€%#!

This game is fantastic for quite a while. Easy at first, then the bosses get a little tougher to figure out, but it’s doable. I had fun for a couple of months. BUT THEN… I’ve now reached a point where it’s literally a game of chance fighting the bosses. You get killed, time and time again, by things that are IMPOSSIBLE to avoid, forcing you to continue (by watching ad after ad) over and over. Seriously, there are times when your path is reduced down to one lane, and of course that’s where the boss’ weapon comes at you. Or they’ll fling out three, one in each lane, and if you guess wrong, boom: it’s time to watch another ad. I’ve been a gamer since discovering Pong in a pool hall when it first came out (I even worked for a top gaming mag for years in the nineties), and it’s sad to see what games have become all these years later. I expected more from such a high-profile franchise. This has become a shamefully blatant ad-watching extravaganza, and I just can’t do it any longer. It was fun while it lasted, but I’m now frustrated, disappointed, and frankly, done. Game deleted.

Sincerely, Disappointed

I am a HUGE Crash Bandicoot fan. Some of my very first memories are of playing the first game with my sister and dad, and I never stopped playing over the years. When this game came out, I was instantly hooked. It was very promising and a lot of fun. “Was” is the operative word here. In spite of frequent crashes and frustrating glitches, I continued to play. But somehow, the new “streamlined” formatting of the game is enough to make me consider retiring this title in the Crash franchise. The game has lost its charm and joy and feels robotic and lifeless now. The events stopped with a refocus on fixing the quality of the game, but the quality was stripped and the crashes and bugs persist. And on top of that, my in-game store (vending machine) has been broken for months with the support team telling me it’s supposed to be that way… if you need something to distract yourself for a few minutes or hours, get this game. But if you’re looking for a game to sink some routine time into (or a decent Crash Bandicoot game) I’d hold off until they correct the problems that they have implemented.

Decent, but Money Grab!

This game is pretty decent/fun at first. The levels are interesting and the challenges are fun. However, once you reach a certain level, materials take longer to make and it’s impossible to organically get gems to speed things up. Seems like unless you’re willing to shell out a ton of money for these gems, play time will naturally decrease. To me CrashBandicoot loses its value and appeal the further you get. With the materials taking longer to make as the game goes on, I thought it would be best to make as much as possible so that weapons would be readily available. Seems like it’s rigged to need whatever items you don’t have - even when you stockpile 15+ of most things. Annoying and mostly a means to get users to constantly open CrashBandicoot . Fun game for sure, but the waiting and constantly making is annoying. What’s the use of “StOrage” if nothing will ever be used and we always have to make more? It’s buggy too, slamming into things or having to swipe left twice to move once.

Absolutely love this game! But cool it with the pop ups!

I am sooo addicted to this game. I have been a crash lover since I was young and playing it on the ps1, so once I saw that they came out with this I was super excited. The only thing I hate about this game is the pop ups. I can understand using pop ups to show what deals you have for purchase when you first open CrashBandicoot , but it’s annoying to see them every time I come back to home base from a challenge run.

Also, as a message to the developers, I will never, ever, EVER purchase anything, and I recommend other people don’t either. I am going to play the game like you’re supposed to, not use money to speed things up. I like to play the game just like I would on the PlayStation. Purchasing items to speed up the process is almost like cheating to me. Play the game and earn your trophies. I don’t care if it takes 3 hours to make a bazooka. I can do things in the mean time while I wait for it. Usually I start making it when I am working so it’s finished by the time I am off. If they cool it with the pop ups, I would give this game 6 stars if I could. So besides the pop ups constantly being in your face, this game is awesome and I highly recommend it! It’s so fun!

This is pretty ‘Nsane.

When the news broke that Crash was going to have his own game on mobile, I was excited. Then I looked at the gameplay, and thought it was a copy of Subway Surfers. But I was very wrong.

The gameplay is extremely similar in terms of how you play the game. Run straight, while turning side to side along with jump, and slide. But what makes this game so unique to all the competitors that use this method, is that it’s CRASH! And no, I don’t mean the IP only makes it good, but all the perks that come with it.

First of all, if anything, Subway Surfers copied of of Crash! This style of gameplay was first used in his early games and fits very well with this mobile introduction to Crash. There are boss fights, missions, skins, and even different islands which makes it completely unique. Another thing is, it’s a great time consumer. Super addicting. Music is catchy, game looks, and runs smooth, and most of all, it’s FUN! What’s a game’s purpose if it’s not fun to play and puts a smile on your face? King and Activision outdid their selves on this one. I’ve only played for a little while, but enough for me to give it a good review. Can’t wait to see what’s to offer in this game!
