4.5 out of 5
Stolen and ad-ridden

It is a fairly good GBA emulator, well-made and works with just about every popular game. However, the uploader just took GBA4iOS (an old but relatively popular iOS emulator), slapped their name and a bunch of ads/trackers on it, and uploaded it to iGBA Store. They could've at LEAST credited the original developer, Riley Testut, but instead they've removed ALMOST all mention of him and GBA4iOS from iGBA (there are still some mentions of it in the file system).

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend using iGBA , at least not while connected to the Internet, because it just gives money to whoever uploaded this for doing nothing. Can't wait for actual developers to put their own emulators on here though. I'll make sure to rate those 5 stars :)

Save states

I made progress in my game and I saved it, the progress saved pops up in my ‘files’ app but after a few hours of staying off the game, the whole downloaded rom and its save state disappeared, no way to retrieve it or to properly save it. Yes, I do know it’s not a reliable saving method but what other options do we have? No dropbox link or anything of that sort. Add that feature it would be a whole lot easier and ease of mind to know I and others can go back and play our game where we last saved our progress.

Good first start, needs some polish

iGBA doesn’t tell you where to put ROM files (it makes a folder on the “your device” section of Files) and it doesn’t hide the status bar when you’re in a game. Besides that, everything seems to work fine.

Great but could be better

Now my only criticism is that the game screen is way to zoomed in and I can’t see the edges of the screen sometimes and I would appreciate being able to zoom out even if it has black bars on the sides. Also I would like to see if more consoles could be added or if a separate app could be used

Overall, a good start

This is (I think) the first emulator on the Apple App Store. And it’s not too bad of a start from the games that I tested. It worked almost perfectly. (I did have some minor graphical issues.) overall, this may not be the best gameplay emulator out there, but it’s definitely the start of something great.

Runs great! But…

Runs really well, everything I’ve tested is perfect on the iPhone 15 Pro. The issue is that this developer is not forthcoming with the fact that iGBA is at least partially based on GBA4iOS. That homebrew app is over a decade old, so of course it’s going to work well. I just hope he has permission from the original developers, especially because he’s making money from ads.

Deletes files!

Works well but a word of warning: it will delete files imported from the files app. If you are using those files elsewhere (for instance, loading from a network share), be careful!

Controls seem okay, but the left button seems intermittent. Haptics buzz but input isn’t always accepted.

Cool

I really like it, it’s just the jailbroken version but with ads and no wireless play, it’s really great to see this come into the AppStore since Google has had MyBoy for 12 years now. Can’t wait for custom GB skins, wireless play, and to toggle where you can place the buttons for a better experience. I’m only hoping for those features because MyBoy has it

Very good, but you haste shows

Very invuitive with how it works with the files app and I have loved it so far, however there are a few audio bugs I hope to see ironed out specifically when listening to music while playing. Congrats on being one of the first emulators on Iphone, but I hope to see this fixed in future updates.

Works great - but not original author’s work

This emulator is the first of it’s kind approved for iOS on iGBA store. It works great and has ads only on the game selection screen, however the dev stole this from the author (Riley Testut). The original name is GBA4iOS and does not include ads. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to put games, save them to the this app folder within the Files app.

Good but needs more customization

would be nice to see multiple gamepad colors for the vertical mode, for the horizontal mode the button are too big and forced on “screen” area, very distracting even at low opacity. would be nice to see a feature to allow players to openly change their placement and size to keep them off screen if wanted.

Intruding ads

I think it is unrealistic to expect them not to monetize a formally untapped market. However I think they way they are showing these ads could go very wrong and interrupt the game and. For example you can’t afk grind something if there’s ads interrupting the game.

Pretty Solid

The emulator itself is really awesome and it plays the games smoothly and without any kind of stuttering. My only complaint is the constant ads while playing, if you could offer and ad free option that would be super awesome. Definitely 5 stars at that point!

Impressive

It’s about time we finally have a legit emulator on the AppStore. I have been playing with this for a few hours and I’m blown away by how easy it is to set up. I understand iGBA is still relatively new so I won’t be too critical. My only suggestion would be to allow for controller mapping and perhaps color adjustments. The GBA has high contrast compared to the SNES, so providing the option to fine tune these settings would be great. Despite this I truly believe iGBA is a 5 out of 5.

I really hope the Dev will at some point add the N64 and PS1 to the lineup of Emulators on the AppStore. Thank you so much for FINALLY doing what should have been done decades ago lol.

Great app!!

At first I thought it would be too good to be true, an emulator app on iPhone. After doing some research it happened to be true. Being able to re live childhood moments by having all those games at the palm of my hand was definitely a highlight!!

Adds can be annoying sometimes but it’s progress

Great, needs 1 small fix

iGBA is fantastic and everyone should download it. The only thing needed is the option to move the buttons. The buttons are too close to the middle of the screen, if I could move the d-pad to the left so I can see more of the game, and avoid misclicks it would be absolutely perfect.

At Long Last

I remember using this years ago back when I have to jump through hoops just to play some GBA or GBC games on my iphone. I still have plenty of games downloaded in my file, and I didn’t think this would ever be released officially in iGBA Store, but now I can finally revisit and play the games that I grew up on, this has been a long time coming.

This is where the fun begins

Works great! On-screen controls disappear when you connect a controller, which is awesome!

Integrates well with ROMs stored on iPhone or iCloud Drive, but if you open a ROM directly from iCloud it will move it off your iCloud Drive and onto your phone.

It would be nice if it copied the file instead of moving it, but you can manually copy your ROMs into iGBA ’s storage on your phone first to avoid this.

Perfect App for GBA emulation

Has pretty much all the features you would want from a simple phone emulator. I’ve had copies of my dumped GBA games saved for ages, and saving them to device files and clicking on them to play was very simple. Only wish for custom button skins, the horizontal one at the moment gets in the way of the game and has no opacity. I would also like a paid version of iGBA to get rid of apps.

Best thing

It’s about time Apple has emulators. Ur this one is great and super simple to set up. Forever grateful. I just wish there was no ads or a small fee to get rid of then. But they rarely show up so it’s okay. Would also like the ability to choose the multiplier for fast forward mode cause I think it’s way to fast
