My biggest complaint is you can’t solve part of the puzzle. You can know what some of the words are, but even if they’re in the right place, it’s not counted when you ask for a hint. So you can ask for either one or four random letters, only to have it reveal letters you already had in the right place. There is “reveal a specific letter”, but it’s double asking for one random, and half of getting 4, so…
I don’t know if Dingbats was just developed in a different country, but — even as an educated person — I’ve never heard of half of the sayings/phrases. Like “All cats are gray at night” or “Too clever by half”. Some are common adages, just using different words (eg “One brick short of a full load”), but there are too many different possibilities. Some, after I solve it, I can see what they were going for, but when it’s a completely foreign expression, the depiction has to be spot on to have a chance. I often end of solving it and still thinking, “What?? Did they make that up?”
The basic game is fun, but it needs some fine tuning
