Unfortunately if Startpage can be set to never remember history and automatically clear cache and website data I was unable to find the setting. If I want to clear everything, which I desire every time I use the browser, I must manually go into settings in two different places to do so.

This lack of ability to automatically clear all data on browser close or, if lacking that, to have a one touch clear ala Duckduckgo’s page burn, makes this app much less appealing for me. This is sad because I wanted this to become my primary browser.

The UI is unnecessarily different from other browsers. For example, it constantly rearranges tabs based on which one you last opened, which makes it impossible to keep track of tabs. This alone makes it very frustrating to use. The anonymous view is nice, but fails to load many images/thumbnails, which is something the team should definitely work on.

Love Startpage, when it works. But, if you set “open search in new tab” in the settings, it’s a 50/50 chance it will work. There have been times when it won’t even to try to open a new tab. Contacting support is extremely difficult.

So my rating is low strictly due to no built in ad blocker. Any self proclaimed privacy browser should have this. It seems to be the norm though. Just look at the DuckDuckGo browser. 😶

However, happy to see the option to block all third party cookies.

I’ll continue to use my usual browser of choice and check in on this from time to time. Perhaps they’ll break the mold. Time will tell.

As far as the search engine itself, this app is all I use. Unfortunately, Safari on iOS devices doesn’t have that option other than bookmarking the site.

It is a very private app, but I have 2 problems with it:

1) I always prefer using the private browsing side of the browser, but there is no way to set it to open automatically in private mode.

2) Startpage has crashed on me twice in the short time I have been using it. And since I am in private browsing, there is no way for this app to restore the tabs. That is frustrating to say the least. I will go back to Firefox, which has been very reliable for me for years.

it almost could do the job, but totally failed to block enough ads for me. intrusive ads made some websites completely non functional and new tabs kept opening themselves. i tried blocking images which seemed to do something but ads that cover the whole screen and arw invisible until you click something then a new tab opens. this had me with a dozen ads open in tabs and still couldnt get to the page I needed. only thing that works is using safari with an ad blocker extension. id like to use this browser but it doesnt quite work for all web browsing. (neither do most browsers for me)

Startpage has potential for greatness— it has been my “go to” search site for a while now — but it seriously needs to have more conservative websites on it.. until it does it gets 3 stars in my opinion.

It’s basically a non-negotiable at this point, there really is no excuse to not give a built-in ad blocker on Startpage . Firefox Focus is open-source and does the job. uBlock Origin is an open-source extension that does the ad blocking for you, the Orion Browser app for IOS is able to support it. Its competition, Brave Browser, and by extension, the Brave Search Engine, is both open-source and has a built-in ad blocker. Since the DuckDuckGo App doesn’t also has this problem, I think it would benefit this app to consider finding a way to put in a built-in ad blocker on the this app App.

Can we get an easy and quick way to delete all history and data? Maybe a “delete all” option is available soon as you press the 3 dots.

It’s new and might need small improvements here and there but its already great. It could in the future replace my Safari and Firefox browsers. I would like to have the option to change the this app mobile App icon, similarly to the DuckDuckGo app. Also, it’s understandable that this app is the default homepage. However, Firefox allows users to set a homepage of any website, and then to add a different website for opening tabs. The this app mobile app is not too far off and with small improvements it can challenge other browsers, especially for people who care about privacy.

I’ve been using this app for a while on the desktop version and I love the simplicity and ease of use, I’m glad that it has an app now. they protect your data and keep you anonymous, which is very important since a lot of websites are tracking all kinds of data to promote whatever they want to sell. Highly recommended!

I was more than pleasantly surprised to see the this app browser offered in the Apple apps. I love it already!!! I saved my previous bookmarks html into files download so I can scroll through the list no problem. I am hoping for a traditional import bookmarks feature but it works for me this way just fine. I like it so much I made it my default browser!

I’ve been using this app for years. It’s great peace of mind knowing they don’t log anything personally identifiable. This is the same kind of experience as their website with even more privacy protection since you’re not using a third party browser like chrome etc.

I love this private browser. It is super clean and responsive and protects my identity and data as I search and browse online! This is a great way to stop advertisers learning every little thing about you. I don’t have the same ad following me around any more. It feels great to be anonymous!

Been using this app on the web for a long time and they have always had the best search results in a completely private environment. I mean, these guys have servers in the Netherlands to make sure it is even more private than anyone!

Been waiting for an app for ages and stoked to finally have it - fast, great results, and totally private.

So it’s great. I’ve tried other so called private browsers and some just don’t do what they claim. this app has so far. I can’t find any history on my phone of sites I’ve been trying o not that I’m hiding anything. Just testing and it works

The original this app iOS App just up and disappeared one day and now it’s back and appears to be even better than before!

Up until recently I was using the this app search engine in a privacy browser app that rhymes with Dave. Unfortunately the “Dave” app has turned into to the opposite of a privacy browser. Luckily while using the this app search engine in “Dave” privacy browser app last week a banner for the new this app app appeared.

I was at the point of limiting web browsing on my iPhone for privacy reasons but now I feel much safer using my phone to browse the internet.
