You can’t connect a tv without paying.

Asking for money for a remote subscription. You’re better off buying a universal remote than paying for UniversalRemoteTVControl.

It’s states 3 day free trial but requires credit card info upfront and in the small print states you need to cancel 24 hours before the trial ends to receive a refund. On top of it all they don’t include a cancellation option on UniversalRemoteTVControl . Even the supposed “email support” is a fake hyperlink. They do they’re best to make it impossible for you to cancel or reach them. UniversalRemoteTVControl didn’t even work for me despite making sure it was connected to same WiFi, tried restarting tv, router, phone, etc. Also, $6 a WEEK to use a remote?! They have different subscription plans hidden that they don’t even explain. Save yourself the headache of dealing with UniversalRemoteTVControl.

So I am not one for leaving reviews. If I don’t like UniversalRemoteTVControl I commonly just uninstall. But I have recently lost my TV remote and I am looking for a quick fix so I don’t have to run to the store and get a new one. Upon opening UniversalRemoteTVControl I was prompted to buy a monthly subscription of 5.99 to use UniversalRemoteTVControl.

Not only could I just buy any universal remote for the same price once, but I could just get another the exact remote I need for much cheaper. I was amazed at how many positive reviews this had given the price and even more amazed that UniversalRemoteTVControl has made any money what’s so ever.

What prompted me to write a review was I had just recently received my masters degree in business administration a little over a week ago and was blown away by this clear as day scam of a business idea.

Wouldn’t buy this ridiculous subscription to turn your TV on and off, in the long run it’s probably cheaper to buy 2 remotes Incase you lose the first one😂. Don’t be scammed!

You need to disconnect and connect all a the time.

Control won’t turn on tv. E tv is on and connected to the internet, then app works

I was in an endless loop of error messages despite of following all the instructions. I give up.

i need a refund !! i paid for a whole year and UniversalRemoteTVControl stopped working after a week 😡

Firstly it’s not worth $30.
Only the mute button works.
When asking for a refund they say they dont receive payments so they cannot refund.
Its a scam!

Doesn’t work and immediately starts charging you $6 a week without authorization

Said it was a free 3 day trial. Had to pick a plan to download. 2/2/24 It didn’t work on my tv so I cancelled in under 5 minutes. It said I have use of app until 2/2/25. Don’t do it!!! I am very unhappy.

App doesn’t work then isn’t easy to cancel the subscription and they do not get back to you in a timely manner

This is just insane to pay $59 for year just to use app to turn on and off tv..everything seems to be about $$ what has the world come to

Downloaded and opened app used it then changed to a different screen. Went back to UniversalRemoteTVControl and it wouldn’t work until you closed it out and reconnected to the TV!! And you have to have the original remote to accept it. Pretty useless!!

I guess a while back I downloaded it to see if it worked without purchasing but didn’t. Today I put in new card information and it charged me out of nowhere. How in the world does that even work? I haven’t had UniversalRemoteTVControl in years.

Downloaded got free trial didn’t have my tv brand plus I found my remote and they will not assist in canceling before my card gets charged I’ve sent out 3-4 emails I’m getting extremely frustrated why would I want to pay for something that doesn’t work and I don’t need?!?!?

Worse than any free version. By the way, this is a subscription service. It won’t let you verify it works before you subscribe but it does tell you whether or not it has already “detected your tv.” Quotes are important, because that’s a lie.
It requires WiFi to work and is decidedly misleading to that fact. Wish I could give zero

I have a bit older tv that doesn't have the ability to connect to wifi so i can't even connect my tv. How is this a "universal" remote?

This is trash. First, they want $6.99/wk to use it. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. As soon as I paid, I paired it to my tv and my tv and UniversalRemoteTVControl crashed. UniversalRemoteTVControl crashes every time it opens and now my tv is not working. I don’t even know how that happens! Do not waste your time. I couldn’t delete UniversalRemoteTVControl fast enough. Prayers for my tv

Maybe because I wasn’t paying for the ad free version idk but it couldn’t find 5 different TVs on the same network as my phone

Worked great till recently, now I can’t pair my Roku TV :( I pay for a universal membership too

I’d like to cancel my subscription, I don’t need UniversalRemoteTVControl anymore and have no idea how to cancel… I’ll change my review rating after I get some help

I thought maybe my Wi-Fi was just weak, but no matter what time of day the remote quickly disconnected from the TV. It only worked for a few seconds, and then nothing. I bought a new app to do the same thing and that doesn’t happen and it doesn’t happen with my Roku remote app for my other TV either so it must just be this one.

I’m trying to download it. You can’t ask that question before I even set it up
