DO NOT USE THIS APP

BlinkCarShare is ridiculous and unreliable! I just tried using it for the first time in Hollywood it says the charging location was at 6408 Hollywood blvd w/ 3 cars available. I arrive there, reserve the car through BlinkCarShare but there was no charging station or cars at that location. The 2nd closest option at El Centro and Sunset had 1x car however BlinkCarShare showed zero cars available so the car charging there was basically impossible to rent. This is beyond frustrating and I cannot believe government funding is going to a service like this completely unchecked. Great idea in theory but literally HORRIBLE execution. Not to mention I spent an hour on the line with customer support who were useless and unable to solve the issue for me.

SO BAD!

The concept is great but everything about BlinkCarShare/company is a nightmare. BlinkCarShare crashes every single time you try to use it. There’s days I need to book a car and I’m at a station where there’s 6 cars and BlinkCarShare won’t let me book one. The couple times I’ve gotten it to work there was always an issue ending the ride and had to call customer service and be on the phone 20min+. Customer service don’t do anything just type whatever you’re saying and say they would get back to you (they never do). Don’t create an account it’s a terrible experience stay away

Scam App 🛑

App is a scam. Don’t use it. Credit card can’t be deleted from your profile. App never works. When you try to end your ride, you have to call support and stay on hold for obnoxiously long wait times while they take your money for over charges and they will lie and say they’re processing a refund after you harass them and never will. Complete garbage.

Good concept but app is so much worse

It’s really upsetting how customer service has gotten worse. I don’t think it’s ok to have me rent a car and then standing with my purse in the middle of the night in Los Angeles because BlinkCarShare is crashing and customer service can do absolutely nothing to help despite being charged twice already. Who has money for being charged twice and still not being able to use the service!?? What’s the point of customer service??? Update: I used BlinkCarShare a few more times after this, was still double charged each time and vocal to customer service about the development of BlinkCarShare and how bad it was charging twice. Account was suspended without any reason and without a refund.

Terrible

This is the worst app that I’ve ever seen the worst customer support and it seems like this is a joke. I’ve tried to verify my ID with BlinkCarShare for a month and a half. I’ve talked to five different people in the phone and email support representatives and no one has solved an issue that seems like the most basic thing. Terrible

THE APP!!

BlinkCarShare ALWAYS crashes when it’s time to end the rental. Then you call Customer Service and you end up holding for the longest time, and the only way to get reimbursed for that holding time is to ask for it. Now, they supposedly have better software, but BlinkCarShare still freezes and whoever BlinkCarShare developer is needs to be fired, point blank; the company is good about refunds once they investigate your situation, and they are good at communicating with you by way of email, but God forbid if you can’t end the rental and you have to wait until the next business day for someone to come to the office to read your email because all that time you’re still being charged, and now they’ve added TAX to the fees and other little penalties. They have some new cars, a fleet for 2023 and they ride wonderful, as well as the older ones. There’s never any problems that I can remember with the car itself, but it’s always BlinkCarShare ., even with new management and a new overhaul , BlinkCarShare is still trash! That’s all. I could go on and on considering some of the bad instances I’ve had in the middle of the night standing, holding on forever waiting , or early in the morning trying to end the rental and standing, waiting, & holding, as I run late for work and forced to abandon the car as the ticker continues charging $.20 by the minute…PLUS TAX.

Can’t even sign up

The basics don’t even work. Was trying to sign up, but fails to verify SMS two factor. Called support, was told no one is available to fix anything. Clearly developed by an offshore team in over their heads. Evidently BlinkCarShare has been around for a year, and it still doesn’t work. Incredible.

Expensive

Ridiculous that they’re charging way more to rent the cars now even for low income people while NOTHING HAS IMPROVED! In fact BlinkCarShare has gotten worse!!

Great Idea, Terrible Execution

The idea of BlinkCarShare (and the drive share service) is great. The execution is terrible. BlinkCarShare never works. It will crash unexpectedly and not let you log in for days, saying you don’t have a membership. It will say cars are available when they are no where in the area. The Bluetooth won’t connect once you do find a car available. When you try to end your rental you it crashes and won’t process so you end up on the phone with customer service. They will tell you they can cancel the ride but you will have your account placed on hold while they review the incident and then never get back to you. I’ve tried to used this service at least ten times and each and EVERY time, I have an issue and end up on the phone with customer service. The biggest being finding an actual car that’s available (BlinkCarShare shows random cars that are not at the station and the ones that are at the station are not vision BlinkCarShare ), when you call, customer service can’t locate the right car either. Other main issues are ending the rental, and the phone not connecting when you do find a car at a station. All around horrible customer experience. It’s a shame because I’d pay more for this car share service if it actually worked. Uber or a different company who knows how to execute should enter the space and put these bums out of business.

Where are the CARS?!

It use to show all over downtown LA now I don’t see any.. only 3or 4 cars by Washington Blvd / Culver City.. ??? What happened please help

Great service, terrible app

Service is great, car was ok (a bit smelly), prices are reasonable. App is garbage. Friction is too high; it makes you take pics of the car but keeps freezing in the middle. And ending the ride can bug out or freeze making you retake all the photos. Of course, you’re paying for the time while fighting their app. It took me almost 20 min to end a ride, and had to go through the flow twice since it froze at the last step. And yes I’m on an IPhone 15 pro.

Re-review app is working better

BlinkCarShare is working better. Not so many issues. I rented a car for the second time today and BlinkCarShare was working way better. What should be said in GIANT letters everywhere in BlinkCarShare is that you need to have Bluetooth and GPS on at the same time to properly access the car’s features.

After the ride, I parked and was able to check in and out. I did have to call customer service to end the ride on their end, that was the only issue. Will use again now that everything is working better.

App is way better than before

I love this service. It has given me so much freedom in LA when before I was left with asking for rides, paying wayyy too much for ride share, or spending too much time on the bus.

BlinkCarShare , and technical side to this service, needs a lot of work and I hope as a both public-private initiative there is money behind this project. Most of the time, I need to call customer service to end a rental and I definitely have been incorrectly charged for the time it takes for me to successfully end a rental. However, the customer service has ALWAYS been helpful and understanding. I think that’s where they have figured it out.

They KNOW there is a lot of hiccups in this service so to have customer service that is kind understanding and HELPFUL is SO VALUABLE. I am sticking around because I know this service will change lives in LA because it’s changed mine.

I’ve been using the BlueLA Car Sharing app for many months, and it’s been a game-changer for getting around the city. BlinkCarShare is user-friendly, making it easy to locate available cars and reserve them in just a few taps. The vehicles are always clean and well-maintained, and I love that they’re fully electric—great for reducing my carbon footprint!

The pricing is transparent and affordable, especially compared to owning a car or using rideshare services for frequent trips. I also appreciate the numerous locations and charging stations across the city.
