Honestly a good app. Only issues are that I wish it wouldn’t be so laggy when I’m on the music cause when I scroll through artist it lags a lot. I also wish that the application would automatically open when starting my car and the Bluetooth connecting to my phone. Would also like if CarOS wouldn’t open other map apps when already in the car os app.

I’m just a college student I can’t afford to pay for something like this but am ago hating just the free portion and seeing things online CarOS seems really effective. What I can do is watch/listen to ads. If there was a free version that had all or most of the features and played an ad every time I opened CarOS I would be more than happy to watch those ads. I can’t pay for it with my money but I can pay with my time. I’d hope the dev of CarOS would consider creating something like this.

I decided to try out the premium version and bought it online and there is absolutely no way to cancel the monthly subscription once started when purchased that way. When I emailed the company they gave no reply for over a week and billed me again. I just sent them another email but will just be disputing the charge with my bank. If you must have the premium version of this horrid app please do yourself a favor and purchase in app and not online like I did unless you want these people to be able to rob you.

This is app cool looking and has lots of potential. The section where you can add favorite apps constantly crashes. The UI is intuitive but I can’t dedicate money to an app that hasn’t been updated in over a year. Update CarOS and make the fixes and I’ll consider trying again.

Had this for the free trial and glad I had the chance to drop it before the end of the week. Every trip, about 5 minutes in, it would ask me to click to find my car. I was already driving and didn’t need to know where my car was. It seemed to work in reverse. Instead of when I left the car it told me in the car. Small issue but super annoying to me.

When i click on anything it says Buy this app and with the old version i could click on stuff and some stuff i have to pay for

I was trying with out wi5 my very few employees so that they are able to share the location of the work truck, does not work. App force closes whenever you try to share. iPad Pro here, not the device. Very buggy app in general.

It’s listed in the navigation category but can’t do navigation within CarOS , have to go out to another map app. Not sure what the point is then, it’s the main thing I use my phone for when driving. Could have such good potential but unfortunately really limited for the price.

If you like looking at icons and that’s it this is CarOS for you! Because that’s all you get to do in the free version, if you decide to touch one of the icon bubbles it’ll pop up “Discover this app” which means pay us. Oh yea and they have a problem with their built in google maps, it doesn’t load anything. Good luck !

CarOS is very cool and everything but the thing is that is that you have to pay to access anything you want and this just makes CarOS useless and the price for it is not that valuable too and I wouldn’t recommended it for those who actually got CarOS

Basically all you can do without paying a monthly or yearly fee is go into “settings.” Why even offer a free version if you can’t do a single thing with it. The concept is great, and a one time purchase would definitely be worth it, but monthly payments, in my opinion, are not.

CarOS like many others require you to purchase prior to using. What that means is if you don’t like it or it does not work you lost your money. Sad to see this since CarOS does say try 1 week free. Yes you can open app but you do not have access to any function unless you purchase subscription. Leaving 1 star for this reason. SAD!

Really wanted to like it, but without navigation in CarOS , it’s just a group of icons and a dash cam. Good start of an idea, but need to tie into the navigation platforms.

In theory CarOS seems like it has a lot of great features. Unfortunately because nothing is free I had to learn the hard way CarOS and features are very buggy. Podcast randomly opens and facial control (main reason I paid for sub) is buggy and a hit or miss.

I would legitimately look into buying this if the free version would actually allow me to try this and not just look at the icons. Even a 7 day trial would have been an opportunity to use the features. Sorry guys, app deleted. Guess I’ll need to wait til I buy a new car to have car play.

How could you possibly pay for a subscription to a half built app that hasn’t been updated in a year?! Work from home orders should not cause any additional hurdles like this. Don’t spend your money.

Even if CarOS would be free I wouldn’t use it. Nothing more than a collection of rounded icons on one screen to open apps you already have and using, including Google and Apple Maps. Good idea, poor execution. For now CarOS is useless.

Since the IOS 15 update it wont automatically switch from CarOS back to the radio after text and google maps voice recognition now no longer recognizes things it did before

In driving mode the map is not accurate it showing I’m in different spot when I switch to Waze that’s different ,exact and accurate even speed is exact you have to focus on this

When you click to get directions, it opens up your map app. It doesn’t give you directions within CarOS . They say this is “for safety reasons.”

Paid $13 for an app that I had to side load. App crashes constantly. Then I find out there is an approved app on CarOS Store but there is a $20 per year fee and I can’t get my money back on the original app I purchased. Not a happy consumer. 🤬

Update to my review. Tried this app today. Works as promised but my battery got super hot. Music has a tendency to skip while playing. Might be because I’m using on an iPhone 6plus. Upgrading my rating to 3 stars. As a bonus the seller refunded my $13. Kudos to the seller of CarOS for being an honest business person.

I stumbled across CarOS and I am so glad I did. Although I recently got a 2016 car, it didn't have Apple Carplay. I really love the features for that.
It was extremely expensive and uncertain about whether everything would work in my car with the aftermarket install. CarOS solves all of my problems. It gives me the look, feel, and experience of Apple Carplay without the price. Although it doesn't show up on the car's main head unit, I don't mind. My good car mount and nice size smartphone is more than enough for me. I like having easy access to everything. It has worked well for me and I am so happy with my purchase.

I’m not sure if CarOS was rushed or if the developers are new to this but CarOS is very buggy and should not be charging people money for such a beta experience. Many screens/messages are in broken English, or not even in English at all. (Sorry I cant read French) and there are so many limitations. (For example why cant I use my device in portrait mode? I know that would mess up the video recording function but I don’t need that) in short CarOS is a great idea but needs several things fixed before I’d consider paying anything for it.

It's gotten better, but would like to be able to use in portrait mode. Also, I can't change temp to farenheit in settings. Always refers back to Celsius. Being able to use Waze in car mode would be good. That little screen using Google maps is unusable. I usually run Waze simultaneously. The views used for Google and apple maps are terrible. Also, radio stations are useless. I can't find my locals. Are they even American stations? Hope this changes. Also, a lack of updates. Because of this I ended my subscription!!

I searched for this app and was greeted with this application. I didn't think twice as it it's using the official this app logo. Upon going through setup I noticed a familiar 'Apple' look and feel to CarOS . However, when setting up the account it collects your password in plain text and error messages are promoted in French and not English. (US app store should default to English unless noted otherwise) I certainly think that CarOS needs to be re-branded with unique icons and imagery and renamed as to not confuse individuals new to this app. I hope the developers are interested in making these changes and also not misusing the data being collected.

So we are expected to pay subscription just to get access to large icons- nothing else. Key items like routing open up separately on native app (eg: fully opens up Waze or Apple Map). Only features fully embedded in CarOS are: phone dialer and music. Text msg feature utterly useless.

Lastly, the developer is not a native English speaker but that doesn’t exclude the developer from providing faq section or support. Done a great job on having multi screens to sign up for subscription, so do the same for help/support.

UPDATE: it is working now after logging out, restarting etc. I will use it a few days and return to update star rating.

PREVIOUS: I have a one month subscription but I cant activate a device it says cant connect to App Store but my account is created on this app and App Store shows my subscription is active. No where can I find a support forum or FAQ or anything that might help get CarOS working. One star for now.

I really wanted to love CarOS because I drive an older jeep that can’t accommodate a CarPlay and at first I did like it
However I have tried numerous times to do searches in Google maps and it keeps bringing results in New York or Australia ... I live in Texas so alot of good that does me
there are a lot of bugs in this in CarOS that are just too frustrating
I already bought a year subscription so I’m pretty disappointed
The lack of support when I ask questions.. the lack of information and the buggy apps within CarOS adds up to a solid NICE TRY

I used it for the trial period of one week and I really did loved it. Works in the background when you need to access a different app as well, but it being subscription based makes no sense to me. That only makes it the most expensive dash cam in the world. If it was a one time payment I would've purchased.

Make it so that I can actually see how CarOS works before having to deal with a registration or subscription and I will give it a proper review. There is no need for CarOS to require registration. Or a monthly plan for that matter. I would gladly pay 10 to 15 dollars for an app of this type that would work properly. That’s all that I feel it is worth however. And that’s an app that actually works. Not what seems to be the case here.

First off this is subscription based which is ridiculous. Second, for the prices they’re charging, CarOS is severely lacking in features and style. Needs a lot of work. I probably won’t subscribe. Add more features please! Such potential, and the exact app I wanted.

I like it, but I’m confused. Why does it open maps or Google Maps instead of embedding them? I don’t want to go between applications, if Car OS were like CarPlay, then you’d really have something. It appears you’ve got Waze incorporated, but not really. Can you provide some feedback on this?

CarOS works like it says it does minus the video recording but I didn’t download it for that so I’m fine with it. Now for my question... is there a way you can add smartphone-to-connectivity like Sygic Car Navigation app so I can just use the touchscreen I have in my car? If you can do that this gets a 5 star all day.

It’s kind of like CarPlay but not really. The interface is ugly in my opinion. Most of the features don’t work like you think they would such as messages not showing your current threads. This may be in part due to app guideline restrictions. The biggest thing is needing to buy a subscription just to use it. This isn’t a groundbreaking app and I don’t think it’s worth the money.

I like the setup and would prob subscribe but it wont find my playlists. Just says no content........ I have a large music library and only keep one or two playlist offline and would like to access just those if I want.
