Hesitant

2022-06-04

So I’d like to use this remote with my Logic Pro on my iMac but the reviews are all over the place.
I have an Imac that I tried twice over the last year to restore only to be told by apple techs that it probably had a corrupted hard drive. Then my wife and I remembered I had backed up my MacBook Pro in 2016 to an external hard drive. We plugged it into the iMac and restored it from there. Then after this I started working my way through the updates. It won’t install el captain for what ever reason and got caught in a installing loop. So I restored it again from the external drive and at 2 am finally had Yosemite installed and everything working.
My concern is that I went through all of this to get Logic Pro working on this iMac and that the remote might in someway freeze it or make it unusable. It’s an older iMac but I like it a lot and don’t want to have it become the paperweight I thought it was at one time again.

Worried about continued compatibility

2022-07-05

Having just updated Mac OS to the maximum possible version for my hardware and updating to Logic 10.4 a few weeks ago to get the remote apps working again on my phone and iPad I am really frustrated and worried about the future with the release of 10.5 not being compatible with my Mac and now the remote app displaying a compatibility message but continuing to work. These remotes are critical to my workflow and while updating my hardware is going to have to happen at some point I cant do it now and this seems like a really silly reason to have to do so. Please maintain compatibility with 10.4 as this will allow many users with older yet still capable machines to run LogicRemote.

Mayday!! Lost many functions and control in the updated remote!!

2022-08-06

I went to record today using the new Logic Remote and many of the functions no longer work. Both my Mac and iPhone are fully updated: iOS and software.

Problems in LogicRemote :
- The arrows at the top of the screen no longer advance to the next/previous track.
- Track Fader no longer works - you pull down the track volume and it instantly snaps back to nominal.
- It doesn’t engage Mute, Solo, Record, or Recall Solo buttons anymore.
*When you press the buttons/arrows they blacken but DO NOT engage.

The only buttons/faders working when engaged in LogicRemote are the Cycle, Play, Record, Metronome, Dim, and Master Volume fader, Automation Mode, I/O, Send, Volume.
In the Automation Mode pane, when selecting Read, Touch, Latch, or Write it does NOT engage those functions in Logic. Some pane functions work where others do NOT.

Where I have always witnessed Logic Remote moving faders and making adjustments while looking at Logic on my Mac, it no longer does any of that.

Please fix this problem. This remote used to be awesome and was a huge help when recording on my own; without assistance of another person.
No it’s a complete hassle!

Not backward compatible. Knife in the back

2022-09-07

LogicRemote is not backwards compatible with logic below 10.5. So, my 24 3.5 gHZ xeon cores, 128 gB ram ssd equipped Mac Pro is now ‘old’ and ‘weak’. So no new logic for me. And, since iOS does not allow managing versions of the installed apps - I get this, a useless companion app for software I cannot install.
Beware. If you have automatic updates turned on - you’re in trouble.
If your ios device would need repair - you’re in trouble.
The answer I’m afraid is not fun: apple is not an investment in your future tools but investment in their marketing department.
Switch to a good multi platform package like Studio One, Ableton or Steinberg before it is too late. That would give you more peace of mind, healthier nerve system and will save you a lot of money in the years to come.

Buggy, stopped working after a day.

2022-10-08

Super buggy. Tried to use it on my brand new iPad Pro, synced it with my 2020 MacBook Pro. Worked like a charm for the first day, it was an amazing tool I was hyped. Then it just stopped working. Don’t get me wrong, it syncs and I am able to see my audio levels still. However all the controls stopped working, I can’t even get it to move a knob. Pretty disappointed, especially after getting teased with how perfect it is when it actually functions correctly. I hope the folks at Apple fix the issue. Logic is one of my favorite DAWs ever, synced with the iPad is just pure gold. Please help!

Works with good wifi but not USB?

2022-11-09

I have a new iPhone 12 mini and new MacBook Pro 2021 So I can’t logic Pro remote work when I connect to the lightning cable? My Wi-Fi is not good in my recording area and I do a lot of self production so I’m very annoyed and I lost my ability to use the remote! Hopefully with the Wi-Fi extender a mesh system I’ll have it up and running

Was great for a while but...

2022-12-10

I use LogicRemote for GarageBand on my Mac. It usually works well but then, it started to lag. It started with playback, then it affected the recording process of the keyboard. I can’t edit the note length or placement unless I use the mouse on the laptop, which is a drag. (No pun intended.) I’d highly recommend creating a remote control app for the Mac version of GarageBand since LogicRemote doesn’t work for as well as it should. I understand that this is primarily for Logic Pro on the Mac but I currently don’t own a compatible midi keyboard.

Latency trouble

2023-01-11

Was psyched to learn that Apple created an app which I could use to enter midi data for a GarageBand project in a Music Applications course. It's true this can be done but listening to the metronome on GB and tapping anything musical on the iPad left drastic timing issues which need to be hand corrected one at a time.

The point of the course is to get you aware of features you may not have used otherwise so perhaps this is a learning curve. But I suspect it's the Bluetooth connection that has the delay in receiving the midi data in sync with the songs metronome. Would it be better to export the metronome sound to the iPad so I'm tapping in sync with the device instead of the DAW?

I don't know, but I see why direct connection has its strengths. If anyone reads this knows a solution let me know. Otherwise I see it as a disappointing app.

I left three stars because I see LogicRemote has other features that I may appreciate outside of this midi project.

Fantastic concept but crashes are annoying workflow killers

2023-02-12

I've started using LogicRemote to record vocals on my current project. It's very helpful to be able to control many different aspects of the recording process remotely.

However, on every multi/hour sessions I've done there is a crash on my computer on the Logic side related to LogicRemote. Logic Pro continues running but whatever service listens for events from LogicRemote crashes. This results in having to do a restart which completely kills my flow. Please work with the Mac app team to resolve these issues!

Great Potential

2023-03-13

I want to love (and use) LogicRemote way more. The concept is brilliant. For recording in Logic it is fantastic to assign common shortcuts to buttons, really saves time for editing in Logic. However, PLEASE make the iPhone app compatible with MainStage! It works great with iPad, but isn’t cross-compatible with iPhone...why? I want to be able to assign patches to buttons so I can just click a button and be playing a new instrument. Works great on the iPad, but I’m already using that for my chord sheets. Using the phone screen would be ideal. Please make it work for all devices?

New 10.5 FX option glitching out

2023-04-14

There is the new FX function that allows you to create effects in Logic, but whenever I try to use it, it glitches and bugs out on me while recording, and I can’t undo what has recorded, which is very frustrating. I tried to record a filter out in my track, and it would just glitch out and reconnect to the 2018 MacBook Pro that I am using, and my iPad is an iPad Pro, so the hardware isn’t the issue. Please update this so it functions properly. Also I had to re-record things due to the Logic app recording a filter out section, and it filtered out part of the whole track, not just the section that I wanted.

Buggy

2023-05-15

It looks like Logic Remote does not know how to handle track stacks correctly. It appears to be unaware of what a track stack even is. It just always displays the component tracks, regardless of whether the corresponding track stack on the Mac side is expanded or not. Further, there is no method for expanding or contracting a track stack on the Logic Remote side. Apparently, there has been a lack of communication between development teams. I think I complained about this once before and was told that it was a feature, not a bug. Whatever it is, it makes the Logic Remote mixer pretty much useless to me.

Anyway, Apple sure seems to be dropping the ball an awful lot lately. Anyone wanna buy an iPad?

I like it but....

2023-06-16

So let me start with, when I first downloaded LogicRemote I was running on OS 10.9. The controller worked great! I could mix from different positions, which was awesome! Then, me wanting to stay with the latest technology, kept up with the updates to find out LogicRemote would no longer support my OS and I had to upgrade my OS to continue to use it.

That's BS! I say that because I use 2 DAWs, Pro Tools 10 and Logic X. If I update my OS, I can no longer use PT 10. I know this is a free app, and I'm not upgrading my OS for something so minute of a luxury. It's unfortunate because I liked LogicRemote so much. Why can't this software be backwards compatible? Or give me the option to download the previous versions before the OS requirement. Or make a controller for the older OS systems?

Disappointed

Very good, but needs Step Sequencer control

2023-07-17

This is an excellent remote control app for a DAW, much better than the average DAW control app, especially for no additional cost. However, it badly needs the ability to program the notes of the Step Sequencer that was added in the Logic 10.5 update. This seems like it would be a fairly easy update for Apple to perform. The Logic Step Sequencer is great, but a step sequencer that you have to program with a mouse is so old school. This Logic Remote app needs to let you program notes in the Step Sequencer. Thanks!

Not native resolution on 10.5” iPad Pro

2023-08-18

I’ve been using LogicRemote since it was first introduced, and it is a great control surface app... especially since wireless networking issues were resolved. I wish the transport controls were at the bottom of the screen, and larger, however... my only gripe, besides the strangeness of seeing it upscaled for the iPad Pro 10.5” display... surely they could fit another fader or two on that display. Who cares if it is a multiple of 2, 4, or 8? Another fader is another fader. Looking forward to having this rectified. Not a huge deal-breaker, of course, since it does so many other things very well. Just the anal side of me that being a life-long Apple user has produced.

Works Flawlessly!

2023-09-19

LogicRemote works very well for me. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and it really is a great tool. I can use LogicRemote to start/stop logic while recording myself and more. Setup after installing is effortless, and it stays connected amazingly well with virtually NO lag in Logic or my Behringer X-Touch control surface! I have had Zero issues using LogicRemote. I Would have given ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but I’d like to see more functionality in LogicRemote for Logic Pro X. But I do believe more tools/settings will be added in future updates. LogicRemote is Great!! And Free! 😎

I was thinking can we....

2023-10-20

I been an logic user since Logic Pro 7 and I must say we’ve come a long way. I’m aware their are quite a bit of concerns on the back end logic of the logic remote, yet I’m not here to speak on it at this time. As a songwriter I find this tool extremely helpful , especially when your recording yourself and want to eliminate the back and forth to the control room - I was wondering if by chance you can integrate the notepad project and track functions on LogicRemote - this helps with documenting lyrics and calling out those specifics for the mixer per track - it be nice to never have to leave the booth - it also would be nice not to have to go back and forth between the notepad app - idk, maybe similarly to the way the audio recording (voice memo) has been ended to logic - is it possible to tag notepad notes the a session? Just throwing out ideas - I myself am just a novice developer but I’m sure you guys can figure it out. I’d love to hear back - this would be a game changer for us songwriters in the industry

Add this essential function:

2023-11-21

LogicRemote has worked great so far and I have not had a single issue with it. I’m just writing saying that in order to take full advantage of the Logic Remote, there should be a more similar interface in some things as the OS version. Most specifically, when opening plugins for things like synthesizers and adjusting the advanced controls. This may be impossible to do with 3rd party plugins, but should definitely be a feature with the plugins that do come with logic. Right now when opening a plugin, you have to scroll through several pages of parameters when the whole plugin interface could fit on the screen. The will greatly facilitate and improve use of things such as the latch automation feature and will truly make Logic Remote just as powerful as any physical synth connected to a project.

Nice Addition

2023-12-22

Although I am new to Logic Pro X, I find LogicRemote to be a very useful companion to the DAW itself. I have been working on the program with LogicRemote ever since and, when I don’t, I see the difference! Being able to play instruments from the iPad makes the experience more enjoyable and productive, in my opinion. The keyboard shortcuts, with the functions named, are just amazing. I mean... you don’t have to guess, or remember which key does what; it’s written, there, to make your life better. LogicRemote is well thought out and makes the work flow smooth and pleasant. I do really enjoy using it.

Does what it says!

2024-01-23

You can do many things remotely with LogicRemote, like the smart controls where you can easily play and record, or just play your song with ease…
The magic thing about LogicRemote is it’s speed. It works fast with and without a cable. When you press something, it immediately happens on your mac.
Don’t know why others hate LogicRemote so much, maybe because they don’t like the iphone version.
It could be awesome if it had even more options. I mean it does support many actions right now, but still not so many. I think it has more potential.
It’s a great tool in my workstation, but still sometimes I get tired using it and get back to the computer, because I will need to edit something not present on LogicRemote ..
Give it a try if you have an iPad, you might love it!
Thanks for reading!

Apple and its upgrades ruins everything

2024-11-17

LogicRemote was great till you can’t upgrade. It was a brilliant app, for a while. As a drummer, I could do things remotely by myself. Now, it’s just annoying. LogicRemote is useless. Too bad. I’ve been thinking of switching operating systems now for a long time. Maybe install boot camp and start using Windows softwares on my Mac. This is getting ridiculous. Apple isn’t even producing anything innovative anymore. Samsung is doing some amazing things.

Please do this one thing

2024-11-17

I want to be able to access my projects and create a new project from the remote app. Currently, it says to open a logic project on your computer to begin. I don’t want to have to take the time to get up and open a project when I want to lay down an idea. Would create a better user experience for me

Really enjoying this app.

2024-11-17

👍🏼 Gives me the freedom to record on my own without having to run back and forth to the computer. Still working through learning the capabilities of it. I use it on my phone, probably a little more accessible on an iPad. Would be awesome to have some accessibility away from the studio for listening to mixes and taking notes.

Great for Remote Mixing

2024-11-17

I use this primarily do check and fine-tune mixes on my living room system (studio running Logic is downstairs). Using Logic Remote for this is a huge timesaver. The only things missing for my needs are 1) a way to view and edit individual track automation, 2) the ability to turn Group (clutch) off and on.

Update Logic Remote for 11-inch iPad Pro

2024-11-17

Please update Logic Remote for the 11-inch iPad Pro. The 11-inch iPad Pro is the perfect iPad for mobile mixing on my MacBook Pro, especially with its edge-to-edge Liquid Retina display. It would be nice to see Logic Remote on my 11-inch iPad Pro, next to my 13-inch MacBook Pro, with an edge-to-edge graphical user interface that magically changes from a mobile mixer, to a multi-touch drum pad.

Lotsoflapjacks

2024-11-17

Great app! Works perfectly for me with GarageBand. My only complaint is that there isn’t Bluetooth connection too. I’m often off WiFi and stranded without a cable, but I still have a laptop. Despite the lag that would occur, I would use it so much more if it had Bluetooth. That said, it’s a great app until you’re stranded!

GarageBand from iPhone to iPad.

2024-11-17

Instead of using a Mac, would I be able to use this to control GarageBand on my iPhone? I tend to use my iPhone as a mic with its surprisingly decent quality. But it’s a pain to have to keep moving it and taking it off the stand to edit and things like that.

Great, yet I would add one thing...

2024-11-17

Thank you, great app... I would very much appreciate a monitoring option. To hear the master-track through the phone, being either in another room or with headphones on. I know it would be the best quality but it sure would make LogicRemote spectacular!

Great Controller

2024-11-17

LogicRemote turns your iPad into a midi controller for logic pro. Think about the implications...no need to lug around a keyboard midi when you’re traveling. I use LogicRemote extensively whenever Logic Pro X is open. And it’s free! Can’t believe some of the reviews on here (probably people who can’t appreciate what LogicRemote is capable of).

This is FANTASTIC!!

2024-11-17

This is great for anyone who uses GarageBand of Logic Pro X. It’s very intuitive and pairing couldn’t be easier. Although it is recommended that when you are using this to set your screen to “Always on” so that it doesn’t turn off while you are using it.

Works Fantastic

2024-11-17

Everybody keeps complaining that Apple needs to add USB support, but if they read the very short description for the update, it says that they did, indeed, add USB support, but that you need to update both your MacBook and your iPad to the latest versions of each.
