The Post-Standard Reviews

Been using ThePostStandard to read the paper on my iPhone. It works well with one exception. When I need to go to airplane mode it continuously pops up with a notification that I’m not connected to the internet and pages may be blurry. All I need is a “don’t display this again” and I would rate five stars.

I can’t give this more than an average rating because, while it does the job of allowing me to read Syracuse paper articles off my iPhone, it shuts itself at least once every time I go to read the day’s paper. I’d say it occurs when I close an article and go to move to the next that intrigues me. So, average app with a rather annoying habit that would greatly improve the experience if they decided to fix.

I usually go right to the newspaper, but started eyeing the other entries. I found them interesting and a nice quick read of the news. I really enjoyed see the pictures that interested me, and then opening and reading. Too bad, I can’t get this all the time!!

I used to be able to read the paper without my glasses because I could enlarge the print on the page, by enlarging the article itself.
The new format limits the page size to a specific rectangle, a third of the size of the page. While you can change the size of the font, the overall amount of content is limited to this smaller than page size rectangle making reading cumbersome.
Bring back the old layout !

Give me back the old app where I could fit the newspaper once and be done. Where are the arrows you mention to turn the pages and what happened to the live news icon. You had a good thing and ruined it! Please explain to me if you send me an email telling me the subscription is now available I have to sign to access the paper you just told me was available? DUMB DUMB DUMB. Now you want a rating that doesn’t deserve even one star or a review cannot be sent. My rating is -5stars and counting!

If you like reading newspapers, this is a great local go to. It gives you the feel of a newspaper without the ink on your hands. The supplements are a nice bonus. My only criticism is that I get up early for work some days (4 am) and it may not be available until 5am.

The Post-Standard serves an important and necessary function as an independent local media source that provides relevant information and perspectives. It has been recognized for high quality journalism and lives up to the name by maintaining laudable standards.

Enjoy having the local news right there first thing in the morning. Easy to find instantly. Most important in my life what’s happening in my world from yesterday, today and coming up. Appreciate.

The design and functionality are impressive. Most of the bugs have been quashed. There are times when I’d like to do a lookup on a word or name by selecting it in the page text view but I can’t. This would be a desirable improvement.

After the first of the year, was not able to load paper from ThePostStandard . Went to the browser and worked but not satisfactory. Then deleted app and reloaded and now working well as before.

It’s definitely a plus to be able to read it on my phone!

The PS recently re-did their app. I much prefer the older version where I could see the whole page on one side and a blown up version on the older side

Easy to use app. Let’s you pick live news feed or the latest digital edition of the delivered newspaper. The digital edition looks/feels like the hard copy. And is easy to navigate.

Easy to navigate and the pix are clear and vivid. Perfectly matches the paper. I appreciate this green option.

I use an iPad to read the paper. Not all of the stories open up to be read. You need to enlarge them by stretching the text.

Really enjoy the e-edition. Easy to work through the web site. Always have the local paper even when I’m out of NY.

Very disappointed with this new version of the post-standard. Have appreciated so much the “Live News” page on many of the previous versions and have not found it on this version. I find this version very clumsy. Want the previous one back.

The Daily Crossword Auto Check is not working. Any and all correct words entered are struck with a red slash when Auto Check is “On”.

Used to be posted around 4am, now not til 6am. I am an early riser. Other than that it is very easy to use.

I can read articles and comics without blurring

It is enjoyable to thumb through every morning and easy to use.

This is a great iPad app. I prefer to use it to read the paper instead of the hardcopy paper delivered to my house.

I like the format. I read the paper from my iPad and it’s a decent substitute to having the real paper in front of me.
