Great Journalism

The Palm Beach post is an award winning paper and we should all feel fortunate to have such a first class publication in our county. I have read a newspaper from cover to cover everyday since I was in elementary school and I want the printed word to survive the electronic generation. It is great to have the convenience of reading the hometown news on my tablet or phone when I am out of town but nothing beats picking up the paper at the end of the driveway, pulling off the bag (and recycling it) and jumping into the days new, puzzles and entertainment. I hope we always have the paper option. So many hometown papers have closed down because people are reading their so called “news” on Facebook or other platforms that are nothing but misinformation peddlers. If we want this great country to survive we must read the real news from honest, educated, hardworking and award winning journalists. Long live the Palm Beach Post and others of it’s ilk.

Works for me

Seems I may be the only person finding PalmBeachPosteEdition works reliably. So far, two weeks in, I've only ever signed in once. Past that, I am really impressed with the general concept and presentation. You get to see the whole paper page if you request the print addition. The headlines are readable in this mode. Tapping on an article of interest will zoom in to a readable image. A second tap gets you back to the full page view. If the article continues on a different page, the link is provided, and sends you there. Options allow you to select the section you want to read. Because it has been working reliably for me, I am very satisfied with PalmBeachPosteEdition.

Very unique, useful app

PalmBeachPosteEdition gives subscribers the chance to experience the paper both in the way they would read it in the hard copy version as well as a very readable digital version of each article. I really like how you can see the actual newspaper page to choose the story you want to read, but when you click on it, you get to read the whole article-without having to turn the page :-)

It’s a great use of technology that allows the newspaper to keep his character but still be easily accessible on a mobile device.

Kudos to the developers!

Real paper still better

Although the post app is more usable and convenient than accessing with a browser, I still prefer to read an actual recyclable paper newspaper. Unfortunately, our delivery person has been unreliable getting the paper to us early enough to read before leaving for work. It usually does not arrive until after 7:30 in the morning, if at all. Maybe I won’t tip so well next Christmas.

By

Better than reading a hard copy of the paper.

What’s great is it each morning I just tap the big P on my iPhone and in about 10 seconds I get the front page of the daily paper. It’s great for me as I can usually increase the font size, there after no shifting to a back page for the rest of the story/Article. The simplicity yet sophistication of the Palm Beach Post app is terrific. Well I still get the hardcopy, 90% of my reading is via PalmBeachPosteEdition . Try it you’ll like it

Palm Beach Post

Really love the paper, still getting used to the new layout!
I really liked the way it was before even though it had some glitches the layout looked like you had the real paper in front of you. Now it seems I have to manage it myself. Is there a button to push so it comes up my own favorite way every time? Sometimes I think I’m missing articles with the new app.

Love the palm beach post!!

Thank god, our constitution & the hard work of these dedicated people who work tirelessly & mostly unappreciated to weed out the skulduggery of our local and state officials. Many, many changes have come about because of the reporting of the palm beach post. THANK YOU for many years, i read this publication every morning in addition to a national publication but i start my day being an informed citizen with a voice, thank you Palm Beach Post!!

Palm Beach Post App

Very user friendly. I use it on my iPhone 7. In all, it works fine. Sometimes a page doesn’t focus, but typically, it works fine. Sometimes a page may slowly slide around upon zooming in. I’ve seen where if an article is horizontal across the whole page and at the top, it won’t open correctly., so you have to zoom in. Other than those minor issues, it’s a very good app.

By

Works perfect

I’m using this on my iPad Pro (12.5 in screen) just to be fair. I like everything about it. You can scan Thur the paper fast viewing 2 pages or hit the fit button on the bottom right to blow up one page and move the screen with your finger. In 2 page mode click on any article & it pops up zoomed & readable. I love it.

By

Was easier before....

Having the paper displayed as before was less clumsy. It is harder to page forward and up and down-the screen is very touchy and I often have to double back. I find that when 2 pages are shown, I will skip over when I don’t see a headline that catches my attention. And because it is noticeably smaller, I probably don’t see them clearly and skip ones I may have normally read.
Is it because your ads are more obvious now that these changes were made?

Post app is a morning must

Non emotional (as compared to tv news), Fun and informative. A capsule of stock and business activity as well as interesting book ideas, and new places to explore. The PBP is a doorway to the outside world. How does one keep on top of current local events if they don’t read the paper. It’s at the library if it’s not in the budget.

Much improved app

The Palm Beach Post app has been greatly improved. It is so easy now to access past editions (I am often 2-3 days behind) so I won’t miss the local news. It is also easy to move around the current edition I am reading. I dreaded switching to the virtual format only rather than receiving a paper edition, but I am very pleased.

By

The new format.

Since your upgrade, my iPad journey of the Post is much better though twoSunday’s ago all that was available was the accent section.
I know it’s difficult to remain relevant because much of what you print daily I’ve already read on line or from another web site.
Keep up the great product.

Palm Beach Post ePaper

I am really liking how you have presented your newspaper.
You have it set up as if I were actually reading the paper.
I especially like that I can read an article in a different mode if I want.
I also like that you include advertising.
I only wish you would include the Publix flyer in some way on Thursday. I miss that.

Palm Beach Post App

I’m finally reading the newspaper everyday! PalmBeachPosteEdition makes it easy to select articles for further reading and to share them with others. The arrows can be a little difficult to navigate where I end up opening an ad instead of going to the next page. But, overall, I’m happy with it.

By

Palm Beach Post review

Change to the new app was not difficult, but like change of most things, something else to learn. So far, it is very easy to navigate and to send articles to friends. Thanks PB Post for always looking for ways to improve your product for your readers.

App does help

PalmBeachPosteEdition does help when we don’t get our delivery in the morning. What is going on - 10
Days ago no delivery for a week! Now this is day 2 of no delivery. If the Poat wants to cancel the delivery option, please tell us so we can migrate to the Sun Sentinel!

Palm Beach Post format is the best

I’ve never seen a newspaper with an app that is so reader friendly.

It provides a pdf style view of each page of the actual newspaper, but if you click on any of the articles, then it becomes a normal web page style view.

Also really impressive content for a regional newspaper.

App works well now

I have been using PalmBeachPosteEdition on and off for about one month. At first, it did not work too well. Now it is “fixed” I am able to completely read the paper on my iPhone. It takes practice and experimentation to get good at it, but I am currently completely satisfied.

Terrible

Have gotten a digital edition for years which was easy to use. This ‘new, better, corn is impossible. Can’t maintain a single page, is jumpy when moving from area to area, just difficult to get to any specific area you want to read. Keeps going back to double pages on screen which have to be fought with to get only one in the window. Can not understand what the Post thought was/is so great about this edition. Rather have it the way it was!!!

Good App but what's with the pricing

I have been using the previous app for a while now and it was free to see the paper version. I expected that it would eventually would cost for the digital version. The new app has some good features especially the ability to view individual articles and be able to print them or email them. Viewing the new app is a bit awkward especially when zoomIng in to fit the iPad screen. But I scratch my head about the pricing when it's cheaper to receive the digital version with 2 papers delivered each week versus just the digital version? Why? Is it about the advertising?

New ap not working

New ap not working, iPad. Old platform worked. Please change back.

Terribly buggy app

After successfully using PalmBeachPosteEdition for a few years it seems recent update (back in mid-summer) included bug that has just not been addressed in subsequent updates. Application unexpectedly asks for subscriber sign-in while in the middle of reading (today sign in request pops up when transitioning from page 5 to page 6 in A section) and then gets caught in endless loop that doesn't allow user to sign in. Screen flips to sign in page momentarily but immediately flips back to paper with overlying "sign in or subscribe" message. Only solution seems to be deletion of app and re- download. I'm an early riser and usually read the online version before our hard copy is delivered. After being subscriber to PBPost for almost 20 years will be subscribing to Sentinel soon if technical staff can't get their act together!

By

Needs attention

PalmBeachPosteEdition worked great until recently. Now it won't open until you sign-in but it doesn't accept the sign-in and asks again. After a lengthy try to speak with someone at The Post, he suggested deleting and reinstalling. That hasn't worked either. I enjoyed reading the paper from the digital app in the morning. Please find out what is wrong and fix it.

Poorly written app

If you have a subscription this pertains to you. Simple delivery of news is what you want to read online every day. You'll get the news with PalmBeachPosteEdition but the electronic delivery of content is annoying with it's embedded Ads. Each time you attempt to advance page past their ads, your device gets in to an endless spinning loop you can't proceed a page or return to previous page. Horrible experience to have to dump app and restart the epaper and advance past the embedded Ad. This didn't just happen. PalmBeachPosteEdition has had this persistent malfunction for some time. Subscriptions cost $$$. Horrible return for the dollars you've spent.

Works Great For Me Too

I rarely write reviews of apps, but was so perplexed by all the negative reviews here, I felt compelled to do so. I completely agree with Lone Happy below. The product has worked flawlessly for me. All of the features, including links to and from articles split among pages is quite innovative. The text is very readable and on an iPad can be pinched to any comfort level. Rather than listen to the nay sayers, give it a try yourself.

By

Doesn’t deliver

I like PB Post and keeping up with local stories and events but PalmBeachPosteEdition simply makes it impossible. I had an older iPad and the previous version of PalmBeachPosteEdition used to unexpectedly quit all the time. I blamed my iPad. I got a new one a couple of years ago hoped that having more memory and faster processor would help. Nope. To add insult to injury they added adds that take up a portion of the bottom of the screen. So now you’re paying for an ePaper that already is full of adds and they add more. Almost makes me want to back to real ink on paper (but they always found a puddle to throw that in when I got that).

Please fix this.

You can read the Post anywhere.

I love PalmBeachPosteEdition. If you have a subscription to the Post, which I do, it's free. This is exactly what I've been looking for to read my local newspaper ( complete with ads ) on my iPad anywhere. I can even download it for offline viewing when I travel where there's no Internet connection. Tap on articles and it zooms in. Outstanding.

Constant crashes and slow loading

The online subscription $15 per month if you don't subscribe to the even more costly paper addition. It might be barely worth it if PalmBeachPosteEdition did not crash multiple times before getting to the end of the paper, every single time. But it seems like they tried to push their weather app on an every other page with very slow loading. PalmBeachPosteEdition is also extremely slow to load on the initial launch which makes the constant crashing even more painful. They really need to fix this.

Revert the update or fix it

Like other reviews, I am having same issue of suddenly being asked to sign in. That would be fine if you could sign in, but it loops you around the sign in screen, which won't allow you to do anything but pay an iPad subscription fee. I paid for a year of digital already. I like PalmBeachPosteEdition when it works, as I want it to be in reading format like a book. All my news station apps have gone to video news which I hate. I want to READ the stories. Unfortunately I can't read the palm beach post I paid for due to this apps bug.

My mistake

We have 2 iPads. I mistakenly thought that what I bought from the AP store would go on both since they are synced.
I bought the Palm Beach Post for 9.99 on my new iPad but was trying to read it on my old iPad. When I realized my error I removed my previous bad review. It works fine on my new iPad. My only complaint is I can't seem to get the Sunday ad circulars.

By

New Update Stinks

You need to take up screen space on the bottom to serve additional ads? The paper already has ads. Why am I paying for a subscription to get more ads. You also got rid of the page turning transition and substituted some random shimmering transition? Also consider naming the icon the name of your newspaper instead of a big P. If you’re going to use a single letter to identify your paper, use a big D

Not user friendly

Just downloaded PalmBeachPosteEdition and paid through my iTunes account. Could not access paper. App asked for login, used my Apple ID and did not take. Called newspaper and was told not their issue, and needed to call iTunes. Called iTunes and they were unable to assist because they did not develop PalmBeachPosteEdition . Requested refund of the $9.99 monthly fee. iTunes staff were very nice in trying to assist.

BTW, The Post did say I could cancel through iTunes and get a subscription from them directly...NOT!

Why Ads?

I'm already a paid subscriber so why are there ads on PalmBeachPosteEdition?
Also, not seeing much of an improvement from the previous version which was poor. I find I'm reading other news apps rather than the Post more and more often. They're quicker, easier to load and navigate with way fewer glitches. Unless there's improvement in the immediate future I'll be cancelling this subscription. It's just not worth the aggravation or cost.
