SmartTruckRoute: Truck GPS Reviews

I like SmartTruckRoute . It was recommended by a friend and it’s more helpful than the Qualcomm. I wish there was night mode and an option to stay on the interstate as much as possible, but those are my only complaints. I haven’t had any major issues in the several months I’ve been using SmartTruckRoute and the updates haven’t affected my routing. Good job.

Edit: Thanks for the tips! “Truck Freeways” is the perfect option. I don’t mind the extra miles since it definitely beats the stop and go and alternating speed limits of the US Highways. Night mode, did end up syncing with the auto feature on my phone, so now I don’t have any complaints. All of my needs have been met. It’s definitely worth the price and I can’t imagine not having it on the road with me. Great job you guys! You thought of everything and it’s very much appreciated 👍🏾

Would like to k ow if any others listen to Audible in the back ground while using SmartTruckRoute. I had sent an email to the developers many months ago about issues with listening to pandora or audible in the back ground. It used to lower my volume each time I was prompted to my next turn, nearby truck stops etc... Now it is just stopping my audible book all together. It does not stop pandora though. Sent an email and was asked to upload the new version. I have the latest version. Was also asked to put SmartTruckRoute as alway on. I have it set up that way as well.
Was told no one else out there is having this problem. Please write a review if you are experiencing the same issues. So they can fix this problem.
I am also experiencing what a different reviewer stated. SmartTruckRoute goes into a loop of getting the route in the middle of the highway. For no reason what so ever.
Been getting routed through areas where no trucks are allowed. I know the developers want feedback, but when we’re in the middle of driving it’s impossible to send feedback.

SmartTruckRoute is pretty useful as far as poi’s go and it does a decent enough job navigating, however you should double check routes at are new to you especially construction sites ( flat bedder) as SmartTruckRoute has on multiple occasions recently tried to route me on no truck roads and through actual sub devisions when there are truck routes available. It also recalculates the route tons of times for no reason like it does when you first start a route but it does it just going down the interstate and will do it multiple times in a roll, can be very frustrating especially now that you have to physically push a button that reminds you to check the entrance of your destination every time it calculates a route. In my opinion that feature is unnecessary and annoying, The people using SmartTruckRoute app for the most part professional drivers that don’t need to be reminded of how to trip plan. I am running SmartTruckRoute on an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I’m an OTR truck driver. The first year I used the SMART TRUCK ROUTE I used it as a back up and it was worth the money spent. I renewed SmartTruckRoute thinking I would receive the same service. My mistake. About 2to3 months in, app was not pulling up addresses. I called the phone number I renewed with and with attitude was told after purchasing, that I needed APP VOL 2 cause my iPhone was dated. This should have been disclosed from renewal of APP VOL 1 wasn’t going to work anymore. After updating it worked sometimes, most often not. Now SmartTruckRoute refuses to work period. I can type in a frequent address used, it says error. When I try to get an address to an Alabama Walmart, it pulls up the Atlantic Ocean. I would love to have the product that I started out with. This second year with this product has been a total flop. Do not get SmartTruckRoute if you are a trucker and need dependable gps. You will be sorry. I wish the map turned into a black background at night, otherwise SmartTruckRoute is way better than Sygic. Sometimes it kicks you out when it looses internet connection but that’s easy to get back on track. I like how there is no massive download to tie up device storage like Copilot and Sygic. It took hours to download these apps only to find to many mistakes in the maps. I need to be accurate and down to the minute on my routes. Night mode please!!! Other than that I would recommend that the user use an IPad with its own phone/data connection like I do.

I have been using SmartTruckRoute religiously for a year now with an iPhone 6 Plus and have found it to be very accurate. I prefer an American sounding female voice over it's British counterpart for the navigation. It also uses 45 gigs of memory so make sure you have enough before attempting a download. I love the truckstop option and the DOT scales within 7 miles option showing you those points of interest along your route. I'm giving it five stars for its accuracy and functionality. I like being able to search by company name just like google instead of address only on the more expensive stand alone gps units sold in truck stops. Overall, it is a very useful app which I am well pleased, it has been a blessing to me.

The voice is creepy. Don't think about listening to music while using SmartTruckRoute , because every time SmartTruckRoute talks to you again, the music doesn't dim, it shuts off completely. VERY annoying. Also, SmartTruckRoute doesn't stay open. It sleeps with the phone when your phone normally goes into 'sleep mode'. It really needs to stay awake. Also, although it claims to have a '3D' mode, it doesn't. Your view is always from directly above. However, it does take you as promised along roads only for trucks. That's the good thing. It also needs to remember your favorite locations, like home, work, etc.. And it would be nice to remember previous locations searched, so you don't have to enter the same information over and over again..

And I remember there used to be several reviews on SmartTruckRoute. They're all gone for some strange reason. Very peculiar.

I just downloaded SmartTruckRoute , I'm giving it a seven day subscription trial to see how it works. I'm using iPad and the iPhone and I had a few issues getting from iPad to iPhone and contacted customer service. With in one minute I was on the phone with Karen from customer service as she walked me through everything even taking the time to give me a few tips on how to use it, and was absolutely the most pleasant person I've dealt with on the phone in a long time. Just 30 minutes using SmartTruckRoute and I'm hooked! I'm going to get the yearly subscription. Great app great job! It's worth the $10 to try it and if you're a truck driver like me it is a great help!

The STR team listens and works hard to get things right. It may take some time but the updates they have coming made me happy with the problems I had.

5 stars if SmartTruckRoute had background support. Any calendar alert knocks it out of driving mode. When I start moving it should start navigating not me having to go back and restart the navigation. Also needs some more detailed instructions. In mor urban areas like the nj turnpike hearing keep right or left will help out not just next exit 10 miles ahead when their could be multiple maneuvers in between.

I was referred by a fellow driver, and SmartTruckRoute has saved me a lot of time and trouble. Customer service is the best; they really help you if you have any questions or concerns. I highly recommend SmartTruckRoute to anyone that drives a truck in unknown areas. It helps you stay on safe routes for trucks. SmartTruckRoute is easy to use and gives you excellent truck routes. I do regional deliveries and depend on it daily. I like the choice of routing; sometimes I use the Truck Shortest, and sometimes I use the Truck Quickest setting, and both are good. I like weigh scale alerts. Wouldn't want to drive without it. Thanks for a great product!

Where do I start? App is very bulky as you must try and change settings it refuses to allow changes. Toggle buttons don't work. Does it route the best possible. Even a truck quickest why window mounted GPS gave better routing and quicker times that SmartTruckRoute. No detail on the iPod/iPhone version. Can only put in one way point at a time. Map jumps around it doesn't let you get a large view of the area. It only looks at about the nearest 10 miles. Doesn't show much detail in the way of cross routes. Has no traffic support or warnings. Next to impossible to find a fuel location in another city without looking at 20 different stations. Not worth the price. Go out and buy a Garmin or a Rand McNally. You'll be better off. Deleted my app and didn't even finish my week's subscription.

SmartTruckRoute could be nice since its looks like google maps but it has too many bugs all the time!
Sometime it shut down by itself, you cant listen your music in the same time than SmartTruckRoute , it took me in an no truck area at Chino CA so I reported to them with picture and gps location to improve the map and 4 weeks later I came back at the same area and same mistake It took me back to a no truck zone nothing changed!
you cant zoom in and out with 2 finger like google map, and especially when driving no way to zoom in and out to see the global map
It could be nice but for now too many littles thing that make it difficult to use everyday
Happy I only took one year and no more!

When you’re trying to make a decision between what your next truck gps will be you want to have the opportunity to try it out and see how it behaves on the road. SmartTruckRoute will only let you use it for 1-2 hours and than it asked for money.... with a 3 star out of 5 rating one might hope they need as many professional drivers testing it out but I guess there is a reason why the developer doesn’t want us testing it in real life scenarios.
I have downloaded both apps and I have 14 days to try copilot but not this one. I have a randcnally and I want to test the apps against it to see if I can make a reliable switch for my trucking company and to trust that drivers get at destination on time every time. Good luck finding people spending their money blindly.

I’ve used SmartTruckRoute for a whole year. SmartTruckRoute works great. It guides you to the place directly and has good POIs. The only thing which is why I’m giving it 4 stars is SmartTruckRoute is a bit buggy. The navigation line can bug out sometimes and it may guide you to behind the warehouse that you’re going to rather than the actual entrance but if you pair this with google street view or satellite which you should it works great. Always plan ahead just in case you lose cell service and plan your route. SmartTruckRoute works as intended.

Well Ive been using SmartTruckRoute for 2 years and yes sometimes it crashes like any other gps but it has always taken me to where i need to go. Had an issue not to long ago with billing and they resolved this problem very quickly their customer service is awesome. So I definitely recommend SmartTruckRoute, it will tell u when a weight station is near and all truck stops as well. It is constantly updating and you can also help them with feeback. Great app! And Great customer service!

This is a great app. Been using it for 3 months now and I have not had one problem. SmartTruckRoute is very accurate on routes for 53 ft tractor trailer trucks. The only thing I do not like about SmartTruckRoute is- it makes my iPhone really hot when I’m using it and it drains my phone battery really really fast, but besides that. I would recommend SmartTruckRoute to truck drivers in 53ft tractor trailer trucks.

SmartTruckRoute seemed to work exceptionally when I first paid for it, but that changed through some updates. I would have it open and have to answer the phone, but when I clicked back on it the route was cleared and I would have to go back to it. It needs to be exact in this business and sometimes it’s close and others it gives an impression of turning one way, but you need to be in the opposite lane. Example, earlier I needed to turn right, but it told me to take the 3 left lanes, and once I got to the light it said turn right. Luckily I don’t drive blindly off of SmartTruckRoute or any other.

I am crazy about simplicity of this application.
Truck routes generated fast and I do not have to worry about my "DEDICATED TRUCK GPS" breaking.
I tried so many of those GPS for trucks and finally I have something as simple as my phone. Good going! Having satellite views and having option to give my address with a microphone is great. I see that they use great maps for addresses. I hope more features will be coming to this program.

I'm not a truck driver so this was a one time use of SmartTruckRoute for a move. This was the most unpleasant experience I've ever had with any app. The whole interface is poorly designed, the navigation is horrible and the noises and sounds were so annoying I had to mute my phone. I'll focus on the main use of SmartTruckRoute , the navigation. If the highway is splitting into north or south for example, SmartTruckRoute would tell me to take 278 north for example with no dictation of it being left or right. The symbol at the top left of SmartTruckRoute where t should tell you to take the ramp on the right or left for example, is a an actual ramp and not a turn sign. The best part of SmartTruckRoute was deleting it.

I put a 1 but I’m afraid to even put one star. My dad and I almost got into an accident using this navigation app. When we were in the middle of the road, a suggestion came to Update, but there was no working button to update, and SmartTruckRoute just stops working. There isn’t even a choice to delay the Update. Basically, if you get the Update sign, that means you’re screwed in the middle of the road. The program still isn’t working. It’s an endless loop: you press Update, it sends you to SmartTruckRoute Store, but the Update button doesn’t work, so you’re sent back. We’re getting no update, even though we paid good money for SmartTruckRoute. By the way, the phone we are using is brand new, and the latest model, so there shouldn’t be a problem. Please return our money.

Even if the program starts working a little later, there’s no point because it doesn’t work at the critical, necessary moments. This is very dangerous for truckers. It could stop working while you’re on the winter road in nighttime Alaska and what are you going to do then?

Good app for truckers overall, but the only things i find annoying are that when you type in a destination it only give you one route to take instead of bringing up multiple ways, and last but not least if you close SmartTruckRoute it stops giving directions and when you open it back up you have to put the info in all over again. Fix those two major problems and you have a five star rating

Man, I sure hope it works alright. It looks good and I'll be using it right away! I've just read some of the reviews, after purchasing, and I see too many complaints 🤨. How's customer service with these guys, do they take feedback and suggestions? Some of their responses back to customers sounded of a bit 🥴too cocky? I'll update my experience on this on the next few days, if anyone cares 🤪.

Very clunky screen(like watching a silent film from the 1920’s). Routing ok but would like other options without “route via” crap. I’ve spent 10 minutes carefully routing myself, then proceeded to drive then program crashes and you have to start all over again... nothing more infuriating. All the above issues pale in comparison to this last deal breaker... no traffic data... unacceptable. One 20 software blows this away and it was free. That company is no longer and their brilliant software died with them. Feel bad I even spent $12 on this junk. Simply do better!

IMO, talks too much. Tells me about every truck-stop within 100 miles, and repeats it multiple times. Enough already! Seems slow to update: the screen shows the turn I just made. Takes a moment or two before the next instruction is displayed. Will eventually get you to the destination, but somewhat aggravating.
Not as good as some other navigation apps.

When I learned that the uhaul van I rented is considered a commercial vehicle I panicked because I didn’t know the truck routes from upstate NY to Brooklyn NY and back . I uploaded and deleted three truck gps aps until I found this one . Life saver , smooth sailing the whole way , kept me in the speed limit and found a fast easy route to and fro . Made what felt like was going to be a very stressful day a breeze! Highly recommend

If you are thinking about downloading SmartTruckRoute let me save you the time and money by telling you do not do it! I down loaded SmartTruckRoute with a three month installment on my iPad mini and it has gotten me lost 10 times (and that is under exaggerating) and has shut off on me running one way from one coast to coast at least 10 times and half of those times were in vital situations where I was in the city and really needed it which is why I had gotten lost. I am on home time for a week right now but when I go back out you can bet your last dollar it will not be under the guidance of this!

This is my only option to route through and around cities to route around low bridges and stay with the posted truck routes. Mostly Chicago. Use google maps and waze. No trucker gps needed having SmartTruckRoute! Hasn’t failed me yet been using it for a year now and don’t want another screen to look at! Works for me . iPhone 8plus. Thanks

App crashes all the time. I have to restart app on every trip at least once. App support never responded to my gripe. Gives me directions to go down small residential streets all the time and some that post no trucks at the street. It is one of very few Trucking gps apps out there so it is a necessary evil. My $300 Rand McNally freezes up in big citys, hence me purchasing SmartTruckRoute. I run SmartTruckRoute, Waze, my common sense and my Rand McNally at once and I seem to do alright. Apparently there is no market for Trucking gps apps because the choices are slim to none.

It’s okay and gets the job done when my Rand McNally’s is off line, but it needs a little adjustments go it can be as good as the GPS systems you buy. I wished it had updates so it good can stay accurate. Sometimes it will take you around the long way around and it’s not all that great in new development areas or rural area. I give it a grade “B”!
