Lack of balance and unfair mechanics

This game seems fun but once you get to the harder levels things just become unfair. Enemies will quickly have the ability to instantly kill you, having absurd amounts of health and taking almost no damage, dealing absurd damage every turn, absorb damage against an element for too long, absorb all of your damage because you couldn’t get enough combos, and locking down your team preventing you from even playing the game. Even with skills from your monsters your damage and ability to heal is ultimately RNG dependent which very easily make things less fun than it already is.
There are ways to get around these unfair mechanics but you’d need to get useful things from the gatcha which has bad rates even with x7 for whatever. Evolving your monsters is also a chore because you have to put up with these mechanics to get the materials, but then you have to get materials to evolve your materials if you actually beat the dungeon.
If you like the artificial difficulty of the dungeons this game has then ok. But if you don’t then it’s best to avoid this game, playing casually will almost get you nowhere if the things this game has doesn’t sit well with you.

Fun game turned into obvious cash grab

I'm a 5 year player and when I started, I loved this game. You could play almost any level with a halfway decent decent team and, with some luck and skill, a player could beat most dungeons. Now, any new dungeons require a fat wallet to buy your way to victory, or teams so specific that you have no. chance of putting it together unless you're willing to drop a couple grand on stones. Used to be a boss would have 60 million hp and beating them was a challenge, where a victory was a hard-earned accomplishment. Now, bosses sit at 600 million hp and have so much defense, or impossible to beat mechanics like damage absorb, they make it impossible for a player to do more than 1 - 10 million damage/turn before dealing out so much damage that literally no team, no matter how well researched and put together, can survive it. Gung-ho has clearly decided to give everyone the finger, including years long players, if they aren't willing to drop serious money on an obvious cash-grab. Spend your time and money elsewhere. This game will leave you feeling frustrated that years of hard work and farming meant nothing.

I just cant

I’ve tried with this game, i really have. Loved it back in the day, cane back years later and it was starting to get a little buy to win, or new user unfriendly, but now its just blech. Its sad because the concept on the puzzle play is a fantastic and trailblazing take on the bejeweled style game, and the artists are top notch when they’re not making the same copy and paste anime girl, but it has become such a slog now. Of the literal thousands of characters, only about 10 or so are ever going to be useful at a time for about a month or so until they slap in their next overpowered hard to get unit tied under either an impossible dungeon unless you have the last greatest team they had, or have grinded so relentlessly that your life became pad. They did the same thing yugioh did and i just cant play it anymore. The second a game has a one turn insta kill move when you have a team of super ultimate gods, i class it as a bad game or atleast bad developers. Play this game for a quick while to get your neuron activation joy for a few weeks and then drop it, anything past the base game is basically CBT.

Great Game, but Coddles New Players Too Much

I’ve been playing PAD for about four years now, and very much love it. A simple, fun game to play in between boring classes and such, but recently they have been making it much too easy for new players. About a month ago, they had an event where over a month they gave out 200 magic stones (the in-game currency that usually costed money) and had a very good egg machine (where you could get new monsters), and my level one friend got some of the ten most overpowered monsters in the game, giving him a team nearly as good as mine. It was also sort of disappointing that he had enough starting team cost to be able to use them, where I recall two years ago grinding to level up to increase my team cost so that I could use my favorite monsters together, where he had to do nothing. One dungeon later, specifically and Experience of a Lifetime with x24 experience and a Ganesha as a helper leader, he was level 100 in his first day of playing with one of the best possible teams. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game, but I’d love it a lot more if it felt like a i was rewarded at all for my years of grinding.

Not sure what to think

I downloaded this game and played it for a while. Agreed to terms of service and all but didn’t really read through them. Not sure what would give them the permission to do this but after installing the game I randomly had a few other apps/games install on my phone that I’ve never seen before. It installed a game called dislyte or something and some other things that I’ve never seen before. Not cool. After reading through their terms of service I also found that they collect your “personal information” and then “provide it”(sell) to their “affiliates”…and immediately following that portion they say they “strive” to keep your information private….what a joke.

Game is excellent but the friend system needs work

I have little to complain about this game and highly recommend it, but sometimes I am very frustrated by the friend system. Essentially you cannot play most dungeons unless you have a helper. This means that if you don’t have a second account or are in possession of that monster in duplicate, you are reliant on the friend system by which you use the monsters of other people and add them hoping they will accept you.
Most of the time, if my play has been interrupted or reduced in quality, it is by this system. Even if I spent magic stones to increase the friend number, the suggestions made by the game are often abysmal. Instead of offering you options that you can use, it will present you with anything but what you need. Tossing money at it doesn’t help, you still have to wait for the game to offer you new helper monsters. This can sometimes take a while before anything useful pops up and completely take the fun out of playing.
I can understand limiting a players choices according to what they are willing to spend, but in this case even liberal spenders are prevented from playing if they choose to only have one account.
I would recommend a change in this system and hope it improves in the future.

free to play player

I am a free to play player playing for about a year. this game requires a lot of time and dedication but is completely free to play with the ability to clear end game content without paying a cent. however, it will require a lot of time and dedication like research and such and knowing when to roll from the machine to get good monsters. many of the negative reviews saying this is pay to win probably only played very very casually which means they didn't get all the free stones and things the game gives out. it will take time and for a while you will feel like you will never get good or any good cards but it just takes patience and a lot of time. If you are not ready to put in a lot of time into the game then your experience will be substantially lower than those who put in a lot of effort. keep that in mind as you play this game.

Best game on mobile

This is the best game on mobile it has awesome puzzles and sick looking characters. This game has a great energy system and an awesome way to progress. I have made it to rank 100 and then it finally started to slow down a bit but that is expected because you just got to an insanely high rank. It is a well balanced game. Example if you happen to run out of energy “FYI I have made it rally far into the game and found out it is a challenge to run completely out of energy “ but if you do there is and endless dungeon that you can always play but you don’t get rewards from it but who cares you still get to play. If I could I would rate this a ten star but I can’t. This is a great game and I think you should consider getting this. I am editing this to say one thing before I start playing again. Developers please NEVER take this game out of PuzzleDragonsEnglish Store

Challenging and Fun

A great puzzle game with team building and your ability to manipulate the orbs to do the proper set ups based on the leader you use for your team. Very diverse teams can be made and obtained through events and just normal encounters. Not all monsters are useless, you’ll always find use for them. But if you want the best then I recommend Saving stones for a chance to roll the best. But even the best can be those you can obtain through in the dungeons. It’s very challenging and fun knowing the skills and awakenings to bring and even the proper team to form to beat a dungeon gets exciting. I love it! Just wish we had like a pvp or a proper communication in cooperative play. Also it would be nice to set reminders on materials of monsters You need to catch for evolutions. And have it remind you when the dungeon is up. Other than that it’s a simple but fun game with friends.

Pay or no, it’s your choice, still fun either way

I like this game not just because it’s one of the best match-3 games around, but because of how the company behind it does business. Is PaD pay to win? Sure. But I’ve been playing for five years, and I haven’t once ever felt like I had to spend money to do well. Not only that, but I have never once been bombarded with any sort of advertisement to spend money. If it wasn’t for the fact there’s an occasional banner on the title loading screen talking about bundle specials, you probably wouldn’t even know there’s a pay element to it. It’s the only game of its kind I know of that doesn’t constantly beg you for money.

They also keep making improvements to the gameplay and the monster system to make things friendlier for players. Along with ever increasing collaborations with movies and shows, the game always feels fresh and new.

It’s not for everyone, but PaD is a fantastic game.

Please look at this review developers

I don’t know why all of these other reviews say “unbalanced cash grab blah blah blah.” First of all, this game is NOT a CASH GRAB. I log in, I get a magic stone. Free revive. Also, the chances of getting monsters are high. I roll in rare egg machine, I get 5*+ monster. Again, log in for 5 days. Also, there are “quest dungeons,” which give you up to nine magic stones if you beat nine of them. For me, other ones above the 9th stage are very hard. There is a exp gift dungeon, which lv1 can beat. 100 ranks you get out of that, 1 magic stone, and a monster that can get your monster 500 levels. The game is not unbalanced, people are complaining about very hard dungeons. Train before you go, if the dungeon is in 3 player mode, go into that. The problem isn’t your damage, it’s your team.

I have some questions, I can go into Zahhak Decended mythical, but what is the rate for getting the boss?
One improvement is to lower the stamina recharge time to one minute.

Not for casuals

The game has a lot of criticism in here from casual gamers claiming they are getting ripped off or there is unfair mechanics. The fact of the matter is that the learning curve is deceptively high and the end game can be brutal. After playing the game for about 5 years I can not even claim to clear some of the hardest dungeons in the game. Getting lucky in the random gacha machine is a big part of the game, but being smart about when to roll (I.e. looking up what events will feature which monsters) plays a big role in how far you can advance. Saving up stones to roll in events that have monsters that are a missing piece for your team is something a lot of casual players will miss if they just roll whenever they can. In short, try the game if you are willing to put in the time and try, stay away if you are looking for a candy crush type game, and if you are made of money and willing to whale it won’t make up for the skill required for endgame but it will certainly help a lot.

Review Time! Amazing Game!

It’a been just over 4 years since I started the game and I can say it’s been the only game that I’ve kept on grinding every day. The characters look amazing and the strategy required is quite complex. On top of that the puzzle mechanics are like none I’ve ever seen and I’ve slowly gotten better and better to the point where I can now crown. (An extra feature you get when you exhibit a certain skill level) let’s be honest here when it comes to puzzle games most of them are just match 3 and yeah I guess that’s interesting but the orb movement in this is so much better. On top of all of this the game devs are super generous unlike erhm genshin… they give tons of magic stones and have many many events through the weeks. I’d say if you haven’t tried it you definitely should give a shot and, who knows, maybe it will become a new favorite! Ill definitely be playing for years to come!

Great Game

The game very pretty balanced, and they will keeping adding new contents to keep things interesting, and they are very kind. They give players gifts! Last month or two, they game 100 gems, and now they gave 100 again! They just give you the gems and you get to choose what you want to do with them, but most players with just spend the gems on the dragonbound event. They also do collaborations with different anime! I would recommend this game, but it depends on you if your willing to spend your time playing it. I have been playing this game for almost 3 years, and in the beginning, I only used 5$, but it is unnecessary, since it is so easy to get gems now! You just need to know when to roll and create teams that work well with each other. There are also tutorials or examples of how to beat dungeons. Also, some cards sometime won’t be as strong as others in one dungeons, so that’s why you have to sometime make the best team within you collections to beat that dungeon. I truly enjoy this game but sadly, the Japanese server seems to get the better deal then the US server. I have no problem with that, but I still think it would just be easier to just have the contents as one. But overall, this is a great game.

Best game ever if you got commitment

This game takes time to learn. The mechanics are hard to master and after 2 years I still can’t even use some leaders because of the complicity of their mechanics. This game is generous with freebies and is totally playable for f2p players. I am still one and I’m doing just fine, even on par with some that have bought items. If you want to get started it is highly recommended to find someone who already plays to teach you since trying to learn on your own will just discourage you from the game as there are not many good resources apart from the PuZzles and dragons guide made by players or the subreddit. Over all this has got to be one of the best games on mobile because of how much content is added every week. The fact that you don’t need to spend a dime. The creators give hundreds of dollars worth of freebies. (Example) month or two ago we received 200 magic stones for free. Which equals to about $200 I think. That is insane. Great game if you take the time to learn it!

I really love this game.

By far the best mobile game out there. You can use real money to get stone to attain gods but it’s not necessary when they give free stuff. Most I’ve spent at a time is 5$ on bargain sets but without that I had monsters that let me beat any dungeon in the game. Been playing for 4 years back in high school this game was a challenge but after some practice I can do 7 combo+ on every board. But I have to admit I would not have gotten so far without the growing community for this game. The game is big in Japan but the English community mainly TylerPAD and MantasticPAD has helped greatly improve my skill, know what monsters are best, what team to use at certain times and when to use my I game currency on newly released content. I’d say this game is a solid 10/10. It’s not pay to win like most mobile games and hard work pays off. Granted you may not have the team to beat the most difficult stuff but eventually you will get Gods or they will buff something you already have. I like when they give free stones but I wish I had money to show my support to the developers. Metatron number 1 waifu.

Amazing

I’ve noticed most of the complaints are about the game being too difficult and magic stones being hard to obtain but I’ve had the game a year and I’m rank 394 and have completed the normal and technical dungeon modes and 497 special dungeons. Having a powerful team is mostly about the leader skill and not the monsters themselves Currently I have a team of five and six star monsters but because I get eight times the attack and twice the health I’ve beaten several dungeons on annihilation difficulty with a duplicate helper while only using one to three magic stones to win As for obtaining magic stones quests at the top of the screen are a good place and you get one every time you complete a dungeon bracket Absolutely love the game still some dungeons I can’t beat but I enjoy the difficulty only criticism is it seems illogical for a monster to absorb an attack that’s above a certain amount of damage or below a certain amount of combos I understand voiding the damage in the case of some sort of shield but not healing from it also would be nice if multiple skills and/or a versus mode could be developed but this is the best mobile device game I’ve ever played

Longest played phone game, depth, variety

I have played PAD for many years pretty casually. There is a lot of variety and it is very F2P friendly but it is also there are also a variety of good values for some money. My husband spends now and then, but I have not. There is always more to do in the game, at least for me. Sure, many have reached a point where they have completed the static content, but some things change regularly, and there are always new things coming out. If anything, IMO, new meta heroes get superseded a bit too quickly these days. However, you can always challenge yourself by learning and mastering a new playstyle. There are many leaders now that allow you to conquer content fairly easily with the right team, like the ones that add combos and give high attack multipliers after meeting a simple condition, but you can also do some farming with a cross, rainbow, or 7 combo team to hone your skills for crown earning. It's a great game if you are tired of churning through game after game. Must enjoy puzzling, collecting, and have some tolerance for repetition as you often need to farm the same dungeon for materials--coop can make this faster.

Worth the effort

I’ve seen more than a few comments flaming this game but, like others have said, it’s not for casuals. If you can put in the effort, it becomes worth your time and is extremely rewarding to clear some of the tougher dungeons. I’m still only around Lvl 170 and I can’t claim to have been playing for very long but I still have a great lineup for a team. Remember to always save up for events like godfest and monster hunter. DO NOT ROLL on other events, as many think the egg machines will give you good leaders no matter what, but it’s a complete trap to make you use up your eggs and thus take longer to progress. It also helps to do 2 player dungeons. I have a few friends who have carried me through dungeons I would never be able to complete on my own and that helps speed up the team building process as well. Look up events online and most definitely get a companion app for this game. I got Pad guide and it works great (free). Over all, remember to not give up and grind out the normal dungeons even though they may not seem worth it. Their point is to give gems, not monsters. SELL EVERYTHING but monsters you look up and will lead to a solid team lineup. You can farm for materials when the need arises.

All new gamers make these mistakes.

This is one of the few games that has withstood my impatience with freemiums. Its fast paced, had difficulty ranging from “Piece of cake” to “YOU SHALL NOT PASS”

Gameplay is all over the place, because when you fight some of the harder bosses, there is secret tricks to beat them. (Ex: bosses have heavy armor that can only be broken by a 4 orb attack) Damage multipliers, skill awakenings, armor, and leader skills make this game a technical nightmare if you just “jump in” and meta shifts are random. Rainbow teams on month, Cross Meta the next, row damage, then combos higher than “x” teams next month... no one good team can crush this game.

The major issues of the game is that you cannot buy experience points, until rank 50 cannot start unlocking hard dungeons, and there are no ENDLESS ANNIHILATION DUNGEONS. You can buy all the stamina you want (naturally) and stones to roll for rare monsters. 3 years playing and clearing stuff well for a F2P, still can’t clear all 30 dungeons for month long challenge... and My PET PEEVE: losers tips. When you lose shamefully, captain obvious swoops in with hints that are basically useless after rank 20... its a good thing I like matching colors
