Yomu EBook Reader Reviews

This was a good reader except every single time I swipe right (to review something on the previous page), it takes me out of the book and back to the library. I then have to search for the book I’m reading in the library and re-open it. Since I go back to previous pages quite frequently, this is pretty frustrating and renders this reader unusable to me. I don’t know if it’s just a glitch on the paid version, I’ve never had an app do this -and I’ve been using ereaders going back all the way to stanza 😀 I’d be happy to go back to it if this issue is addressed.

Why does the swipe right take back to library? There’s a button at the top that seems to do that - and in all other reading apps, that’s the way to go back to library. Swiping to go back to library seems rather asinine since swiping right is also the way to go back to the previous page.
Considering the large size of phones now, it is rather hard to one-handedly swipe from the middle of the screen since I have smaller hands. I don’t expect to have to use both hands to turn pages on a reading app. If I wanted to do that, I’d just read a hard copy book.

My bad, should have backed 8\up the test book. Allowed an import, now the title is gone from files. Glad it wasn't that important. Hoping it does no more damage before I can flush this t***! The interface is bizarre. Why have to import anyway - that's strange. Solid, consistent interface design may seem stodgy, or whatever, but it works. Users can use a PROGRAM without studying how to use it to donstandard things. What is that row of ICONS that appeared in some screens or views? They were neither labeled nor intuitive, and they were like nothing else I've seen, and I've seen quite a bit. I'm too tired to figure it out...maybe there's a 90 page book or plurible website that explains it. Geez, is originality a replacement for usability? How? Why? Ok, here's a joke, you'll love it! What a beautifully designed app. I have been trying a find an eBook reader just like this. I have tried them all and this is the best. One small wish I have is that when viewing Contents of pdf files, the thumbnails could be larger. I have a hard time with the small images. They are so difficult to see. Maybe it’s because I am viewing them on iPad mini. Idk. But a little larger would be much better. Oh…p.s…..I love the widget. It takes me right to where I was last.

It’s OK, but didn’t handle apostrophe and quotation marks well for me. 2 of 3 epub books I loaded to test YomuEBookReader out on iPad were a mess. [The same books look perfect on calibre on my computer.] Every single apostrophe was 3 odd symbols, and every quotation mark was 2 or 4 odd symbols depending on whether the quotations were at start or end of a sentence. Makes reading any comment or conversation by the book characters very difficult and unreasonable.
I’ll try to delete and reload books, again, but unless this was just bad luck in file choice it’s likely a delete and keep looking for better reading app. Too bad, as the personalization and simple feel of YomuEBookReader was good.

I have probably tried every app out there but this is by far the best one yet. I collect PDF versions of many tabletop role-playing books and organizing them has been a chore. YomuEBookReader is so easy to use, well designed and feature rich. It's worth the small price tag.

I hope that it continues to be improved. A few changes I would like to see is more display options and additional fields.

Does all that iBooks seems to do and doesn’t try to harvest too much personal data in the process, which makes this my (currently) preferred epub reader. I have forked over my quite reasonable $5.
(I wrote in an earlier review that it doesn’t do dark mode, but that seems to be just certain books, possibly pdfs which I think no reader does dark mode on. I was testing on too few books.)

ALL the cbz/cbr reader app that I’ve downloaded all have the same problem of making the moire effect of manga pages (I’m using high-quality manga files) extremely bad. But YomuEBookReader, while it still makes the moire effect more “noisy,” it is not as bad as the others by a mile. I bought the premium version, and I think it is worth it. Hope YomuEBookReader lasts.

Probably the best reader on YomuEBookReader Store right now because it doesn’t require a subscription, it’s universal, and is very pleasing to the eye. In the future I’d love to see audiobook support, more customization options (like setting my own margins, etc.), and the ability to organize my books in nested folders! :-)

I am very pleased with YomuEBookReader and the only thing holding back the 5th star is that the highlighting of text is not the most stable. The last update had improvements but there are still issues at time with it not showing the selected text as highlighted. Otherwise it is a great app, I like how it syncs with the desktop app without a subscription and how books can be organized into different folders and tags.

I enjoy YomuEBookReader and it’s straightforward operation, but I just wish there would be more color highlighting, and page and font manipulation. I use Yomu for note taking and textbooks, so being able to use my typical colors helps me, and so would more customizable pages and text format. ReadEra was my main app to use for this, and it did the job perfectly, but now I have an iPhone and would like to have the same features.

...and this has been my go-to reading app. It doesn’t do some of the annoying things that the iBooks app does and it’s pretty straight forward. Out of the many reading apps I’ve downloaded over the years, this is one of my two favorites.

I love how you can read seamlessly without having to have the header and footer bars in the way. There is no space at the top like other pdf readers which is great. The only downside is you can’t make the font larger and you can’t scroll. If those features where added I think it would help the visual impaired such as my self.

Just got it and downloaded some of my books onto it (mainly ePub) and have found it already way better than apple’s app. I switched over because I was having a hard time doing just that, moving ePub files from my laptop to my Apple Books. it still has much room for improvement and can’t wait to see it evolve!

I was looking for a lightweight simple way to read my books and this works perfectly! If you’re looking for that too, this is the right app for you. I do think more customization options would be neat, maybe in the future, it in no way affects my current experience using YomuEBookReader.

When I say Free, it is absolutely 100% free unlike popular apps that claim to be free with limited functionalities. It has a clean interface and everything works smoothly. YomuEBookReader doesn’t hide anything. Also I am just writing this to let the developers know I’m thankful. Great job you guys!

I began having issues with Apple Books app. I tried this as an alternative. I liked the clean interface so I paid for the cloud sync premium option. Reasonably priced and well worth the money. I’ve begun using this as my daily reader.

YomuEBookReader is very clean. The options that are available for customization for the read work excellently. The only suggestion I would make is to create a speaker for reading the text. I didn’t expect YomuEBookReader to be so good with comparably less ratings than the competitors.

Lately Apple has made it impossible to add epub files to ibooks using itunes. I installed Yomu to replace ibooks and even paid for the pro version. Here first the files need to be copied using itunes file share and then imported to library which should not be required. Moreover, some epub files do not work properly as the font size and type cannot be changed. The interface could be even more intuitive.

Easily my favorite ebook reader. Clean design, feature-lite but that helps make it intuitive. Love that my reading progress syncs between my devices and that I can connect to my books on my self hosted server with the OPDS support.

Although in Dark Mode, the opening icon is still black with white background. Hope it can become white icon with black icon.

When it’s in Dark mode, the function buttons in up corners are too dim when the book is open.

My old reading app was discontinued and it took a long while to find a good enough replacement, which was this one. Overall, it’s good with some cool features though I wish you could customize the size of margins.

For some reason, YomuEBookReader just flat out wont work after the latest update. It remains stuck in a white screen (with only the Yomu logo in the middle).

Very disappointing. Hope a fix is issued asap.

I’d like the ability to have text truly full screen—no visible chrome at all on reading mode. and a true black mode for OLED screens.

It’s a decent ebook reading app, has iPhone X interface, smooth appearance and flow..
Needs search function and shortcut bar for day and night when reading ebook..

Interface needs work. Hide the scroller at the bottom please, or have an option to put it at the top. otherwise stray fingers send me to a different chapter

Love the export feature - every other app I’ve tried refuses to export, (ahem, iBooks). Good option set.

BUT highlight function is a mess!! Come on, was hoping this functionality would be fixed by now. I have to try like 4 or 5 times to get it to work. Major flaw and I’m looking around again.

I really wanted to love YomuEBookReader because it has all the features I need and customisations I want. But it freezes once in a while especially when I first open YomuEBookReader and that really interrupts my flow.

If you want the versatility with ebook formats that Calibre has and the mobile app it’s lacking, Yomu is a great alternative.

It didn’t even have any books on it except for like 4.

I've tried nearly every ereader on YomuEBookReader store and this is by far the best there is.

In particular, I enjoy the ability to create folders, to import documents from other apps such as iTunes, Dropbox and Drive, and being able to edit information like title and author. The design is sleek and minimalist, and there are a various ways to personalize your reading experience -- font size, font style, dark or light theme, hyphenation, page or scroll -- which other apps don't have.

As for improvements, I had to tinker around a bit and press random buttons to figure out how to change the preferences. It would be good to be able to bulk import and bulk edit ebooks instead of having to do it one by one. Without bulk importing of this, the transition from iBooks/your current ereader to Yomu can be very time consuming. I also suggest being able to add custom tags to documents for easier sorting in addition to the folders. I would also like for there to be a search bar to make finding a particular title easier.

Other than that I am very happy with YomuEBookReader. It's a good app with some limitations, especially compared to iBooks, but it's a strong alternative. Aesthetically, Yomu is far superior.

I never thought I would like such a simple e-reader so much. I love the integration with Dropbox. The layout is great, and very readable. All images in some books don't show up, but it doesn't seem to affect the layout. While I'm on board with the simple and streamlined settings (it really does make it easier to just pick a book and read), a 3rd or 4th font wouldn't hurt. Not at the expense of the elegant and readable layout tho. I've been a huge stanza fan for years, even after they abandoned YomuEBookReader . With my iphone 5 tho, it doesn't fit the whole screen, so I've been looking for a replacement. This is it. Super easy, looks great. I read ebooks everyday, and for another font or two (and dare I ask for cover flow), this is easily 5 stars. Considering buying the full version.

Finally there's an e-reader app that's focused on reading! Yomu is elegant, minimal and easy to use. Being able to directly link with Dropbox is great, since all of my books are stored there. Sharing a book is easy through email too. There's no ridiculous bookshelf or page flipping animation either. The reading experience is different now that tablets exist and this is how e-readers should look. Overall great app, I hope it gets some more attention soon.

Can you provide fit by width by page when in landscape mode (PDF) and support for ios native speak api for all formats?

Beside those, YomuEBookReader is great truely!

Update: In addition, the footnote functionality is not properly working for epub( when holding for link, it just gives folder ending slash not the physical filename in epub), and I can't find where to remove books. Please fix these!

This may have the potential to be the best ereader I've used other than nook. It's has a nice clean design and I love the fact that you can import books from both iTunes and Dropbox. It's not as buggy as other ebook readers I've used and it come with an option to import three free books. I would like to know what file types other that ePub will this support.
