False crash detected, no navigation

I mostly got this to detect crashes. Today I was riding along when suddenly a voice came over my Cardo saying “911 what’s you’re emergency?” I had to pull over and spend a good 5 minutes explaining to the cops that there was no emergency and EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS just called them automatically for no reason. I’ve only been using EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS for a week, and already got a false crash detection (as other reviews complained about). So I immediately deleted EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS .

Even with the horrible crash detection aside, I also don’t really think EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS provides much value. It can’t even give you turn by turn directions, let alone map out the twistiest route or avoid highways or whatever, like other apps can. And this is supposed to be a bigger more popular app, no idea why they can’t even figure out navigation. The rest of it is this janky social media sort of thing that’s somehow less appealing than mainstream social media.

I really don’t know why anyone would keep EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS. All it does is call the cops on you for no reason… so I guess there really is an app for everything these days.

Almost perfect. Just needs minor updates

EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS has great potential - there are only a couple of things holding it back from a solid 5-star rating. I’ve been running EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS along with three others (DucatiLink, Yamaha MyRide, and DiabloSuperBike) on my rides for last few months.

Pros:

- In my opinion, this is the most intuitive and refined app of the four I’ve tried so far.

- Ability to scroll through the ride - sort of a replay feature - is very nice

- The social aspects and articles are great

Neutral:

- The sign up doesn’t bother me nowadays since most apps require you to do that now

Cons:

- My biggest gripe is regarding the ride statistics. EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS records random lean angles which are usually over 20-25deg higher in both directions (left and right) than reported by all other apps, rendering that feature useless. When all other apps report lean angles in 30s to 50s, ESR reports lean angles in 50s and 60s. Speed and distance are better but other apps seem to be closer. Also, other apps provide acceleration data along the three axes which is missing from EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS.

- On a couple of occasions, ESR did not record the ride after a “pause”. Other apps have also done more than a couple of times

- EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS won’t let you add a bike without making a public post

ESR does not work on iPad :-(

I just wanted to read a few of the articles but I can't......
the ESR App does not allow use on an iPad as it requires motion sensing for no reason as if it was an iPhone in your pocket while you were riding your bike. this leaves out an entire segment of ESR users. cell phone or PC only for those who want to relax after a nice ride and read the articles. come on guys fix this. I get why you did this, so you wouldn't get complaints that crash light wasn't working properly after install, but you screwed the pooch on anything that doesn't have the same internals as the cell phone.

Great idea, so-so execution

I love EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS, but lately I’ve been getting a LOT of false positives. I have it mounted on my handlebars, and the rash of false positives have gotten troubling. Especially since unless I have my phone unlocked with EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS open in the foreground, I don’t get alerted that it has detected a crash! While I’m just riding on, it has sent messages to my wife and other emergency contacts, who are freaking out. I’m not sure what happened, but it needs to get fixed, pronto! Otherwise, I’m going to have to cancel the Crashlight subscription and find something else to do the job.

Great app!

I’ve told almost every one that rides about EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS. I don’t ride with out EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS going and haven’t had a problem with it. Works fine to me. Love the fact that if something ever happens then my wife and 911 will be notified of my location! That’s a great reason to have this and use it. Thanks for making EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS! I’ve seen others have problems with there app crashing with iPhone 7, I had it on a 6 and now the iPhone 8 Plus and no problems so far. I am wanting to see how the drain on the battery goes with the new update.

Great app

Updated May 30, 2019
I still like EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS and the idea behind it, but the false positives are really becoming a problem. I’ve even had it activate when I was braking a lot softer than I normally do.

I am considering deactivating the crash detection and cancelling my subscription simply because of the false positives.

********************
I love the peace of mind I have knowing that my three chosen contacts will be notified in the event of a wreck, if works as it should.

Hopefully, I never have the chance to see if it all works.

The only issue I have started to see recently is a few false alarms.

They started after I started using a handlebar mount. I’ve have four false positives in the last month or so.

Three of them occurred as I was slowing down to make a turn. The fourth happened on a flat level highway with no significant change in speed.

I don’t know if this is something the dev team is interested is researching or if it is within their allowable limits.

Love the app, BUT...

As far as tracking your rides goes, this has been by far the best results I’ve seen. I love the tracking aspect.
But, the social aspect of EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS have some serious neglect. I would like to share the routes and tracking details with my buddy, but it took us forever to actually get through the process, and then it doesn’t show him the tracking insights it gives me. It was also difficult to find him, add him as a friend/follow him. The social aspect of EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS really appeals to me, so I hope that it gets the attention it deserves! It’d easily take it from a 3 star app to a 5 star app.

Great and Reliable

I love EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS. I’ve used ESR for a couple of years now and tracked hundreds of rides and never had even one glitch. That reliability is really appreciated. That’s the single most important feature.

For comparison, I also use REVER which has a few more bells and whistles. However, that one crashes on me constantly and doesn’t end up tracking my ride and I have a new iPhone with the latest iOS. That’s very frustrating.

Great App w/great tracking features.

I have used EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS for many years now. ESR has been a very reliable App that I use on almost all of my rides whether short or long. EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS helped me in verifying my IronButt ride last year. EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS ran for over 20hrs non stop without a glitch! I have also worked with the ESR Team on some minor issues and the have always been very quick to respond and incredible customer service! I recommend EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS to all my riding friends.

Good app.

It’s a pretty good. It does what it says by tracking my rides. One thing I am not sure about is the Apple Watch portion of EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS . Is a user supposed to be able to start a new ride from the watch or no? I initially thought you could however, this is not the case. I discovered that initiating a ride from my watch does not start the clock and then I am unable to save my ride data due to the ride duration equaling zero. Am I using it incorrectly?

Lost focus

EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS has slowly morphed into a social network to Instabrag on. Functions for riding have been pushed literally to the side and make it almost impossible to use with gloves on. All the controls are tiny to the point of being useless, even if you pull over, de-glove and squint. All to make room for social functions for hipsters drinking coffee instead of riders on the road.

Put that junk, and the message box under one icon for off-bike use, please.

Also, fair warning, if you turn on notifications it will start spamming you with sponsored promotions. There is no opt out in EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS , so if you have Bluetooth in your helmet it may interfere with the zen of your ride.

The Ad/spam notifications come even when EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS isn’t running too. But thank Royal Enfield for their generous contribution to ESRs wallet for national bike month.

Notifications were supposed to be for SO to find out I crashed again, not marketing.

It works and it’s fun

I like that this ap works as a ride tracker, I don’t know about the crash sensor because I don’t pay for that.
They made improvements so it’s easier to save a ride and say how the ride was as well as where you kept the phone.

The negative is it could still be made easier to save those specific details and there’s no points in the game for riding your bike every day of a week, month or year! Come on guys we winter warriors want more!

Ride monitoring let down

So I loved EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS and the protection it would give me knowing that if I laid the bike down (crash detection) someone would be called... so today, my phone fell off the motorcycle at 80-90mph, bounced rolled and smashed on the ground. (Amazingly phone is fine because the case is awesome-so it wasn’t a problem with a broken phone). The aluminum case was cracked and screws holding it together sheared, but not a single phone call was made. The system failed... luckily I didn’t need it, and now I know I need to find a different security blanket.

Waste of $15. App deleted. (Which is good because it’s a battery hog too).

Waiting…

Sent you guys a message two weeks ago about a malfunction I experienced followed by a request for acknowledgement a week ago. Received nothing but a systems notification that it will take a day or two in order to receive a response….
If you are indeed listening, as you so loudly announce with your update, it would be sweet if occasionally you would also reply, acknowledge or show any sign that you care. If you treat your paying customers like that (I am one of those) I wonder what you do with non paying ones…

The worst app

I used EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS last year, and..

1) gps tracking was daily problematic. Notified ERS about it and I haven’t gotten a straight one person response but instead he distributed to several other people to respond. It was a mess.

2) whoever is charge is a lazy slug. The game supposed have started on 16may2020 according to ESR game section as advertised but it didn’t. So I emailed esr and the response was joke. I asked him for an answer but he asks me a question instead. He asked me which game? The ESR only has one game. But he asks me if I’m asking about another game or esr.

It’s a great app, could use one more feature

I like EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS , the ease of opening and pressing one button to start tracking is awesome, pausing a ride is stupid simple too. The one thing I wish it had was a route planner, something I can go into the map, and plan out a turn by turn trip. Other than that, EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS is really great. Haven’t sprung for the crash part yet, but it’s a good feature.

Nearby Riders Feature Gone??

EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS was pretty cool as a way to discover riders near you, but now it only seems to show nearby places and routes. Either “nearby riders” functionality is gone, or everyone in my state has abandoned EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS at some point in the last month. Hoping this is a temporary bug and not some kind of new unannounced blanket regime of privacy protections for those of us who never wanted or asked for them. Some of us like to use social media to, you know, actually share information..

Has so much potential.... But falls short

The ride recorder has been fantastic to track milage and time. But why isn’t there a way to just click and follow the same exact route or the same route in reverse on the ESR map either from others shared or your own saved rides? Really missed the mark on this....

App Support & Improvements

The ESR team responded to a question I had and offered a solution which will likely enhance the apps functionality for the better. I’m pleased with the support and look forward to an updated, upgraded app in the near future.

Super Motorcycling App

If I ride a bike, then you need EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS. Keeping up with your routes, tracking mileage, and sharing with other riders are just some of the features. And the Crashlight feature is such a great safety feature. I’m always tracking my rides, regardless of how short or long, using ESR.

Never asks for location permission

I installed, but it doesn’t ask for permission on phone ( gps) location, so when you click “location access” it just sits at that screen. In settings, there is no indication it wants location services so it’s just stuck at that screen. In app, after signing in, you can’t go further without location services. I believe it’s an issue with EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS and IOS 15.4 where EatSleepRIDEMotorcycleGPS doesn’t correctly ask for location access.
