Every name and email I add it keeps saying has been used whereas I've not user any of them

Unable to finish setting up account got as far as username and password but birthdate number columns froze and wasn’t able to add my birthdate. I managed to add my cell number and couldn’t continue from that point. My device is an iPad Pro. Hope you can help me. Thomas
I have had message notifications showing on the icon at the bottom of the app for the last couple of days, but when I tap on it and open the messages screen, the notification goes away and there are no unread messages. When I return to the main screen the notification reappears. Am I missing some messages or does this notification icon need to be reset? How do I clear it? Thank you, Chris
