Wow, this has been a lifesaver product!

I never write reviews, but Propeller was SO GOOD I had to share my experience with everyone. This is a super sleek, well-executed health tracker to help people with asthma. I was recently diagnosed with asthma about a week ago. I struggled with the symptoms for multiple years. I finally got the correct diagnosis but I never could pinpoint what was causing the issues. While looking for air quality apps, I saw Propeller and thought I would give it a try. I saw I could get a free tracker to go with my rescue inhaler. It was super quick shipping and FREE 🥳 I’ve used it with Propeller over the past week and within a few days I had tons of data on symptoms and usage— I finally now know my triggers. As an Engineer, I was happy to see Propeller does *truly does* trending and analysis. You can access cool reports on usage and reliable forecasts. App Devs, you’re really contributing to making lives of people better. ❤️ Thank you and well done.

The app, the idea, and execution, are FLAWLESS.

First and foremost, I truly believe this app was sent from above. I recently had my life-long father figure pass away due to uncontrolled COPD. I feel like Propeller was advertised to me on Instagram for a reason.
I scrolled by the ad ,and immediately went back to it. I checked it out, and saw that I might be eligible for free sensors... which I was.

At this point I had no idea what it was. I saw Propeller had about 14 reviews though, which I thought was a sign of an unfortunate launch. Man was I wrong. Right off the bat I was blown away by Propeller ’s functionality and how polished it was. It’s feature complete. It’s smooth. It gives important insight.

For those of us who are bound to corticosteroids for the rest of our lives, this app is a godsend. I can’t say it enough. The sensors have alarms and remind you daily when to use your maintenance inhalers. You get a notification on your phone as well. I can barely

I can’t say it enough. Propeller and the inhaler sensors have my asthma under control better than ever.

Imagine that there are millions of apps out there that have no purpose besides collecting money through micro transactions and advertisement.

this app CAN SAVE LIVES.

Thank you so much. If you guys need a testimony for a commercial, I’m your guy.

Almost amazing

I downloaded this after my son was diagnosed with asthma. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and this ended up being a great resource to help his dad and I keep track of his inhalers, and help us communicate better with his doctors. There are only two things that I think could be improved:
1) I have never been able to complete the ACT. Every time I finish it, it just gives me the spinning loading symbol. If I try going to another screen and going back, it tells me to hit continue to finish, but still just gives me the loading symbol.
2) I wish you could differentiate between morning and even doses. Right now my son is doing two puffs at night and one in the morning. Unfortunately it only gives the option for the same dose at different times of day.
If these two issues were fixed, I wouldn’t have a single complaint, I absolutely love Propeller, it makes life so much easier.
Thank you!!!

Very helpful

I'm 24 and have suffered with severe Asthma over half my life. After being hospitalized from it my doctors have made me keep a detailed list of everything this app already keeps track of. I no longer need 3-4 apps to know what my doctors want to know. I no longer waste hours looking up and tracking everything. It's so simple. I use my inhaler and it's already recorded. It's taken a lot of stress and inconvenience out of my life. I've even noticed a trigger that I never realized before. Every few days I might have to reconnect the sensor with my phone, which is just opening Propeller and pushing a button, it takes less than 10 seconds. I highly recommend this service to anyone that has Asthma.

Great for tracking doses, but not with air quality accuracy…

I thought the point of tracking was to try to figure out what’s causing the need for inhalers with asthma and whatnot. Yes, it’s great to be able to check in Propeller to see the last time I used my inhaler. BUT a major flaw… if it’s being used for studies to see what might be causing issues locally or whatnot, I’d think the Air Quality portion when a dose is taken would be a high priority. I’m not sure why it says the air quality is good where I’m at. Yes, my AQI is good at 43, BUT… local dust levels are purple… Listed as Very high with WebMD allergy and Extreme with AccuWeather. I’m very very sensitive to these levels. The purpose of this app just doesn’t seem like it’s doing any justice in the research department if Air Quality is listed as excellent at the time I take a dose, when in fact the dust levels are off the charts.

Please fix it! Definitely a huge flaw in the purpose and use of this app!

Exceptional

I generally don’t right many reviews, but have to make an exception for this one. I have had challenges understanding my triggers and managing my adult onset asthma. Propeller and the accompanying sensors make it very easy to track good and bad seasons, spot patterns, and be more proactive with my care providers. The developers are prompt when you send feedback or ask questions. I appreciate the emails and notifications when my asthma appears to be getting exasperated. I’d recommend Propeller to anyone who is needing help managing and understanding the challenges of asthma.

Helpful, yet...

With my tendency to have things fall from my pockets, or set things down and forget about it I am glad to be able to find my rescue inhaler a lot easier with Propeller . Sadly, I wish there was a sensor for my controller inhaler, Alvesco. I’m not the best at remembering to take my medicine Dailey so this is the one I could definitely use the sensor to alert me with a reminder. Even better Apple Watch integration would be even more help for reminders. I don’t always have my phone with me for reminders but I almost always have my watch on. However, having Propeller has made me more mindful about keeping my asthma controlled. Thank you for that.

Needs a few tweaks.

So far, this is mostly working. The prevention med reminders are nice, and it syncs great. But it’s lowering my score for “nighttime events.” In reality, I’m a night shift worker, so, no, I’m not waking up with symptoms, I’m already awake at 3AM. If I used it at noon, that would be waking up with symptoms. So, it would be great to be able to set a schedule to let it know when I’m typically awake.

It would also be nice to have it disregard scheduled inhalations. My pulmonologist recommends taking a dose of my rescue inhaler immediately before a hard workout, and those are keeping me just out of having a “well-controlled” score.

The data is still useful to my doctor, who does know my schedule, and my exercise usage, but it would be fun to see the score reflect reality.

Great data on rescue inhaler

I’ve had the this app device on my rescue inhaler for a few weeks now, and I’ve been really impressed with it. Every time I use it, it records the information in Propeller . Propeller itself, syncs with Apple Health Kit on my phone.

In the past, every time I used the inhaler, I had to remember to record it in the Health Kit for my asthma specialist so I could give her the data. Now, this app does that for me AND it provides a method for me to input what I suspect is/are the trigger(s) causing my coughing and having to use the inhaler. And, a great plus, is that Propeller also provides a report for the specialist.

Best app I’ve downloaded in a long time.

Awesome device

This is a great device to track my inhaler usage and what triggered the need to use my inhaler. Being able to pull up my history has been a game changer when my doctor asks how often I have need to use my inhaler and I can provide the time if day and triggers. I am good about knowing exactly where my inhaler is, but I did misplace it and was able to find it using the locator. Thank you for this product.

Enjoy it

I really enjoy Propeller- as I only need my rescue inhaler a few times a month. I do, however, have some suggestions for improvement. I tend to need it most when I forget to take my daily asthma medication. I wish it had an option to select “missed medication” as a reason for using my inhaler. I also sometimes need it with exercise.

My other suggestion: one of my favorite parts of Propeller is the daily asthma forecast. However it only randomly shows up. I wish this would be a permanent part of Propeller because I can’t find it when I want it.

Good but could be GREAT

This a wonderful help with monitoring my son’s asthma and the daily reminders are wonderful for a young child who often distracted by the world around him.

I just wish for two things to be add.
1) Health App Sync would be amazing. Right now he has to add his inhaler usage manual into his iPhone (add this and it would be 5 Stars)
2) A way to list an asthma action plan. Part of my sons action plan is to use his rescue inhaler 3 times a day for 10 days. But Propeller wants to know the trigger each time. I would love for Propeller to know we are on an action plan 10 days so it’s not viewed as a rescue each time.

Good app but could use a little more options.

I’m a new user and have not yet received the sensors for my son’s inhalers. But while putting in his medications manually I’ve noticed that there is no options for tracking er visits or hospital admissions as well as additional oral steroids that are prescribed or supplemental oxygen for major flare ups. My son has been admitted twice for multiple night stays in the past 45 days and has had extra medications prescribed. I think without those options there is still a part of the larger management picture that is missing.

Good asthma tracker

I have used this app for several years to keep track of my maintenance and rescue inhaler usage. It was very useful in helping to spot triggers and trends in my asthma symptoms. I find the alarm on my maintenance inhaler to be helpful in remembering my morning and evening doses. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because Propeller no longer includes a tracker for my Xopenex HFA rescue inhaler. I now have to enter each use manually to keep track of it in Propeller , which is not convenient when I am struggling to breathe and just want to go about my normal life. Please bring back the Xopenex sensor!

it really works

my asthma has been up and down for a long time but since using this i am more consistent in taking the control medications. my doctor does not currently use the data, i signed up separately which i admit took a bit of work. the sensors have been reliable and even when i was put on a new medication they had them ready to go. I have been very impressed with the support folks, i washed my inhaler in my pocket with the sensor on and they sent me a new one right away.

Things that would make it better:
* more charts about consistency of control meds
* not having the pre exercise inhaler usage count against you if your doctor told you to do it
* Apple watch app dosage reminder options to make that louder or vibrate
* Apple watch app reliability

Great app! Would only change one or two things

The only thing I would like to see added is the option to edit the triggers if something is not on the list, IE humidity as well as have like a section to put in notes when an attack does happen, like where you were or what you were doing so it paints a clearer picture

Helpful, but could use some improvements…

Was recently a witness to a house fire 2 yards away from where I was, and inhaled some smoke, and had to take a couple of puffs of my inhaler and either Propeller didn’t catch that 2 puffs were taken or the device didn’t report it. Either way, I had to go in and manually edit the information. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed this is the norm whenever I take more than 1 puff of my inhaler.

Make it clear you have to buy something

I downloaded this specifically for the daily asthma forecast so I can have more control over planning my activities around when symptoms will be worse. Based on what Propeller allowed me to do, you can’t access ANY content unless you have the this app device which has to be provided either by a “sponsor” (none available) or through a medical provider - pretty sure that means it costs money. Highly disappointed the description of Propeller didn’t make that clear (at least to me) and I’ve wasted the time researching, downloading, trying to make it work, and writing this review.

Super helpful!!

At first I was skeptical about using this, but it has helped me keep track of my events and being able to share them with my doctor is wonderful on helping to find a solution for me. Really recommend!

Nice app but keeps signing me out?

I like the reminders, but it “signs out” from time to time, but I never have to sign in when I go to Propeller . I’m not sure how I’m signed out. It happens enough where it’s becoming annoying. I prefer to respond to the notifications and enter my dosing that way than to open Propeller each time. It’s a good app otherwise. If the update changes this issue, I will update my review to reflect the improved experience.

By

Good, but it needs more options

I’m fairly satisfied, but with the push notification reminder/question about “did you take your 8am dose of ____” for a med without a sensor there should be Yes/No option without having to go into Propeller from whatever you’re doing/using at the time. Also, a way to set a schedule for prescribed preemptive doses and if you are a night worker, have a varied schedule etc.

Changed My Life

As an asthmatic I have to take several doses a day of a preventative inhaler, which I frequently forget. Propeller and the devices it uses are fantastic as well as the alarm feature and fact that it syncs with Apple Health has changed my day-to-day quality of life for the better.

Mostly good, but one major problem

I really like Propeller. But, my big thing is I just updated it and it said my sensors were here so I went to set it up. When I hit set up my sensor(s), Propeller crashed. So, I proceeded to try again and again to set them up and it didn't work. I also tried deleting and redownloading and it didn't work.
