Serves the purpose but needs improvement

I enjoy using InTheRooms to connect to live meetings. However there’s a really annoying issue. It only shows you the meetings that are going on on that day, so one of the meetings started at 11:59pm Saturday. After I connected to the meeting, I had to disconnect for a moment. When I went to reconnect it was after 12am on Sunday. So the meeting that was currently live did not appear on the list of meetings because it only showed meetings for Sunday. We should be able to select a day of the week and see all the meeting times. Also there’s no Help page. It’s just a black box. I also wish I could click on a persons profile, and reply directly to someone in a discussion so that they are tagged or notified.

Good site, horrible app

Please fix and I will update the rating! ITR receives donations, so why hasn’t this money gone to updating InTheRooms ?! I know you receive many donations and I know a website doesn’t cost that much..

I don’t know why even after 2 years maybe longer of using this site & app, they haven’t fixed any of the issues for phone users. I don’t have my computer right now because I drove out to a meeting that ended up not being here this morning, and it says connected but the screen is black and I hear nothing.
Before, the issue was if you got on your phone, you’d be put in the sharing box with your camera on whether you wanted to or not, and you couldn’t get out.
Please fix this. Some people only have their phones, also I have a new iPhone and still can’t access the actual video meeting even using google chrome. Thank you

Not sure how this apps rating is so low...

But for me InTheRooms has been a great tool and has helped me accomplish what I set out to do when I downloaded it. The reason I got it was to have an accurate comprehensive list of all meetings in the area where I live, and the area where I work. As simple as that online it was a sounds I did look online first and wasn’t able to find a list that was both up to date and accurate.

On a sidenote I didn’t read all the bad reviews but the ones I read seemed to have functionality complaints and seemed to be looking for a ‘Facebook’ for people in recovery. For me it’s a great resource

Don’t get this app or use the video meetings

Technical support refused to delete my account and remove my information, saying after 90 days the account would deactivate. This has never been true.
Once I did my step 5 with a therapist and not someone from the online group, no one would return my texts or emails except 2 people. Before that, people were ‘offering’ to hear all these personal details—I chose someone in person who I trusted-so what!
Every time I tried to post someone, the message would get sent to several people(people I didn’t even know) and they, as I, didn’t know what was happening.
I guess I will go on somewhere else, some people decide you don’t deserve to have any support-you’re not allowed to get it

Could be better & worse to

Only thing app is good for is attending video meetings. I wish we could read the attachments at meetings as well get notified when we have new messages, comments or instant messaging capability. Whenever you click on user name waiting in que to speak to add as a friend or view their profile you will have to go all way out and back in to click on another user. You also can’t see anyone name in app. It would be great if I could atleast use my iPad on website since I don’t have a computer but I make do for now. App definitely needs a ton of work it’s very very basic

Great Meetings / App Needs Work

Going to video webcam meetings is awesome. Using InTheRooms is not. You're definitely better off using the website from your home computer but in case you're in a fix or don't have a computer, here's a little hint: every time someone shares, exit the meeting then go back in again. Unfortunately you have to do that every time someone shares, including the chairperson.

Trash mostly

InTheRooms is good if you never have any input. Every time I get called on to share, my mic never works. I feel like features like this are needed ESPECIALLY in an AA meeting app. I do appreciate being able to listen, but maybe add a chat feature for those who may be having the same issue as I am. I can’t even tell the person chairing the meeting that my mic won’t work unless they can read lips. That’s all. Good try, but you didn’t quite hit the field let alone the mark.

Video meeting do not work

I have tried to reach out to support and nothing. I have had InTheRooms for a while and all the sudden for 7 days now the “ video netting’s “ will not work. When I click on specific meeting, I get black screen and message on top that said “ failed connection”. Every single time. I checked my internet and it’s good. Is there any support ????? So disappointed, this was the only way i was able to go to meetings. I hope you can fix this!

Buggy

Every time I go into a video meeting, I show up to the chairperson as someone wanting to share. Suddenly the “sharing” notice is on even though I did not want to share. Also, they don’t seem to see my name because they always mention that before broadcasting me live.

No quite as good as expected.

InTheRooms could be much better. I start off in the meeting with sound. But then the sound stops. I have to do a refresh every time to get the sound but then in less than 30 seconds the sound disappears again. I sure hope you can fix this soon. Other than my gripe about the inefficiency of InTheRooms I could really fall in love with this for my own recover.

My 2$

The video meetings are possible to attend but after the person shares it will freeze up you just simply go out of the meeting room and come back in. A little frustrating until you figure out a way to make it work. Web site is better.

Think of the still sick and suffering

Please read the reviews. Please fix InTheRooms . Beginner boards are flooded with "just got out of jail. How do I do this?", With no response. This is a great concept, but a miserable execution. You could really help people here with some effort.

Start by making a donate button and suggestion box.

Disappointing

I had high hopes for InTheRooms and associated website after seeing it referenced on numerous other recovery websites. InTheRooms lacks many features I would expect to see on a social networking platform and is not that helpful in connecting those in recovery...which is the whole intent. Sober Grid is a much better app, although there are a lot of non-recovery related posts on there.

Just like my ex, lots of potential no follow through

App is very frustrating. I can see forums and personal messages but attending a video meeting is next to impossible. It rarely is visible, most times no sound. Cumbersome. A pity as I would really use this on my phone at those times I can't be at my desktop computer. So much potential, so little substance.

App is horrible

Guys.... Come on. Video meetings are one of the best features of InTheRooms and people really need it. I used to use this service quite a lot about a year ago. I tried going on several times in the last week or so and the video service is now basically unusable. Fix it already. Seriously.
