Action Movie FX Reviews

I love that there are Star Trek and Star Wars special effects, but the generic ones are in many ways more valuable as you can use them in your own films. Downsides - it doesn’t appear that you can use your existing footage, you have to be in ActionMovieFX and shoot to add the effect. Also the “edit timing” function just appears to move where in your timeline the effect comes in, but you can slow down or speed up the effect. Perhaps importing the final saved effect into another editor would allow this, I haven’t tried. Also to the good - you can choose to export as a GIF. Fun and easy, although I’d love some more features. I’ll admit I quickly plunked down a few dollars to buy some of the effects I really loved, but there were free ones too, and none are expensive. Maybe the first time I’ve spent money in an app.

I would recommend ActionMovieFX to anyone who want to add simple or slightly complex effects for their videos/movies, but for high-end ‘Netflix or theater quality’ video effects, this is not ActionMovieFX for you.

Okay I thought the people at development of ActionMovieFX was just boosting their ego by saying it’s super good and stuff but dang.. like I was just looking for Star Wars effects and I found one from hassbro and their stuff is lower quality than this! LITTERALLY! Like idk if the devs were just bullied into making this or what because this feels like an actual movie, the only bad one is the one with darth Vader when he smashes the truck because the animation kinda just instantly stops but either than that it’s super good. One more thing, some may be skeptical of the large amount of pay effects but 1. It’s really cheap like 2 dollars and also the devs kinda deserve it. Sooo erm basically in conclusion, get this and if you can spare 2 dollars to get even more good effects and help the devs do it.

So far the best movie fx app in the galaxy. There seems to be an intergalactic theme in ActionMovieFX because of the Star Trek and Star Wars fx. The best thing about ActionMovieFX is the range of the effects and the tremendous amount of effects to choose from. I love how it keeps the editing simple and has the red and green frame outlines during recording. There are still areas in need of improvement, however. There are a couple of bugs when editing and importing. For example, I recorded the video with the effect of B.B.-8 n ActionMovieFX , and it was fine, but when I imported to camera roll, BB8 was upside down. I am not sure if this has been fixed or not, though. Also, I was hoping for a Death Star blowing up or a Star Destroyer in the Star Wars bundle, so please add these. Overall, a great app, though.

ok so ever since I could remember my dad would have ActionMovieFX. I've always loved it and still love it to this day. people say ActionMovieFX never gets new things to put in your videos but the Star Wars affects have been added, so they're wrong. if you saw ActionMovieFX, wanted to get it but wasn't sure so you went down to the reviews to see how other people liked it - which is what I personally do - you should totally get ActionMovieFX, it's free! and even if you don't like it you can always delete ActionMovieFX after downloading it. but I don't think you'll have too. ActionMovieFX is great I would definitely recommend it for all people who are bored and want a fun app to play.

I really liked ActionMovieFX, so I made an in-app purchase to get more effects. I didn’t receive the new effects, so I tapped to buy them again (to see if it would solve the problem) and the program hung, with a message “Contacting App Store”). I left it alone for about a half hour, and it didn’t resolve.

Every time I close ActionMovieFX and open it again, I get the same problem. I even deleted ActionMovieFX , and re-downloaded it to see if that would work. I also tried a cold reboot of my iPad. The problem still persists.

I tried to contact support, to work through the problem directly with the company, but nothing happened (couldn’t even report the issue). After exhausting the other options available to me, I’m resorting to writing a negative review, which I rarely do. But if I pay money for an app, I expect it to at least work properly.

I love this game when it comes to prank Ing your friends it’s so fun and enjoyable to show other people your vid’s and get a good laugh at all the things that you can do to your videos that is why I gave this game five stars I hope you can keep improving it and adding more features!!! I have only a couple problems they are I think you should be able to go back and fix your video if you did not like it I tried to do that but it I couldn’t figure out how I might be missing out on something but I believe I know all about it for I have had it for quite a bit of time now

ActionMovieFX is okay. At first I loved ActionMovieFX but now it’s literally the same update every time about the stupid star wars thing and there are never new effects. I also feel like we should be able to import videoes from the camera roll or edit previous videos made. You should also be able to actually moce where the effect happens. Overall ActionMovieFX is okay.

This is I think a couple months after I wrote this review and nothing has happened so idk why u guys won’t do anything abou this crap. Like why isn’t there an import video option. Also I think we should be able to move the placement of the effects better. You can only move it by making it bigger. Also u sho7ld allow front camera. Overall ActionMovieFX is now an eh.

This is a great app to play around with but I can’t choose these couple of underwhelming Edits so I hit restore purchases I’m like ok I’ll just redownload the ones I like and then I wait for those painfully slow bars to move across the screen 16 times and nothing so I wait restart my I pad try again nothing couple days later nothing after that then that then that I have never reviewed a game but this is really getting on my nerves now but besides this I love to play around with this and I hope you can fix this with your amazing developing thanks for noticing

I love ActionMovieFX and have had it for a long time, I find myself visiting it every once in a while only to be disappointed that there is no new effects. Besides that, the quality ActionMovieFX has is insanely impressive and allows you to lots of things. I’m not sure if the people who created ActionMovieFX still works on it but if so a gallery option to select already existing videos would be great along with a new effect or two.

I love ActionMovieFX . It’s simple and fun, as well as looking good. The only problem is that sometimes an effect will stop working. For example, today phaser fight was working fine, but when I got home, I tried it, and the visuals weren’t there,. The sound effects worked, but the effects didn’t. The others work fine, but this happens with a random effect every once in awhile. This is really annoying when you work a long time on a project and then the effect you need just doesn’t work. I hope you can get this fixed, because this is a great app!

I’ve been using ActionMovieFX on and off since it was made available. It’s a blast and very entertaining. I’d like to see a batch of very basic effects. For example: fire burning, which I could’ve used on a video of the centerpiece at the table I sat at for my company Christmas party... or when a tumble weed rolled across the road and it really needed to explode as it rolled into a ditch. No spaceships, no military vehicles, just something simple that could be applied to various situations, creatively.

BUT……… I hate that you have to buy different affects I think you should just get all the effects right away as soon as you download the game other than that this is probably one of the best games I have on my phone it’s fantastic works well super funny highly recommended get it but to the people that make this game please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please make sure to give everyone ALL😑🧐😐 of the effects

Free and just lots of fun to use. It is certainly a conversation piece :-) Gives you the ability to shoot a video and add fun special effects that you can share with others.
You can add other special effects which are also bundled for $ savings. To be fair, the developer ought to get some compensation for its effort.
Baring limitations, it would be nice if existing short vids could be use.
Fun to use with the effects included and a good bang for the buck if you add more effects.

Best app ever. Effects are awesome and are a lot but could use some more. It also should not have the ones you have to pay for because that is just stupid I get that you need to make money some how but what is the point of getting it if you can not have all of them. This is still my favorite app and is awesome and use it a lot. Thanks.

I love ActionMovieFX! that being said it is sometimes a little bit unnerving how long things take to download and then how difficult it sometimes is to use the interface. I did buy all of ActionMovieFX though, to get all the effects and I sometimes still don’t seem to be able to use them and they add more which are not included in the first purchase. otherwise it’s a great way to have a little fun with videos and photos

How come ActionMovieFX hasn’t been updated in over three years? ActionMovieFX has potential but what’s the point of having a movie clip that’s only 5 to 10 seconds long? Why isn’t it longer and why hasn’t it been updated with at least the other two Star Wars movies in the new trilogy like the last Jedi or the rise of Skywalker? Since ActionMovieFX has not been updated in quite some time I wonder if any of the developers still read reviews or am I just wasting my time

I bought ActionMovieFX because of the $1.99 sale that claims to come with 20 fx but at least 2 or three or the packs are not included that say they are. I may be wrong but it looks like a nuclear explosion and the last few at the bottom are still an additional 99 cents. At the same time it looks like they should be in the bundle. I restored purchase a few times and it says downloading 9 more etc but nothing new comes. It’s an otherwise cool app to mess around with.

ActionMovieFX has enough explosions and crashes and destruction for a movie maker like me, everything uploads well, but this is four stars due to this one small problem:
Your camera has to be completely still. The whole ‘tracker camera’ is not what it says it is. If your camera moves a small amount, say in a missile strike, then your crater will move in the ground, which is not satisfactory! 🙁☹️🙁 this is a recomended app by me, but Bad Robot Interactive, please make a real tracker camera!

I’m not blaming Bad Robot (nor Apple for that matter), but the march of iOS and hardware progress keeps killing off apps I enjoy. Now that I’ve upgraded to the latest greatest, my app collection is downsized once again, and this fun and quality app is among the victims of the most recent downsizing. At least some of the scenes malfunction (don’t display at all or bail to black before the end).

I’m reluctant to invest in new apps because of this kind of stuff. My app collection just keeps shrinking. If Bad Robot hasn’t orphaned Action Movie, I’ll fix my review. Otherwise, the value of the platform as a whole just keeps shrinking for me. 😞

A great app for making videos, although a few more effects would be nice, as you haven't added any since Star Wars the Force Awakens in 2015. Love using it. Nice variety of free effects.
It would be cool if you could add some fx from Star Wars The Last Jedi.
Maybe some Porgs.
Of course, the fact that you still update ActionMovieFX is great, because you can still use these fx on your iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and X(10)

I own hundreds of apps (many paid for and many I beta test). This is app is fun. Yes, I wish you could more with it but it is free. Plus I think I only plopped down about ten bucks for ALL the effects since it came out.
So no horrible subscription service that is majorly overpriced. Yes- ActionMovieFX could do so much more but you can throw your footage in a editor and go from there.

Really good for amateur film making if you get used to it and do it right. Prices are fair for DLC effects, just to be honest. Most other apps ask for a arm and a leg for one extra effect, this ones not too bad on it's prices. Plus it comes with some pretty good ones for free. I'd recommend this for anyone that doesn't really know how to do vfx on a computer. Definitely 5-star worthy.
