Collectors: Movies Games Books Reviews

I originally bought Collectors for $25, loved it, and rated it as four stars. But I’m changing it to one star. The reason is that the company has abandoned Collectors and moved to a new app with a much higher pricing model ($5 a month - no thanks.) At the very least, they should offer some kind of discount to all their loyal customers who previously bought Collectors for $25. But they don’t even do that.

What makes it even worse is that there is no easy way to migrate your collections from the old app to the new one. I sent an email to the company about this and I got a reply saying they could migrate the collection, but they do it on their end. Seems pretty short-sighted to start a new app that cannot automatically port over all the data from the previous app.

I would not recommend this company or its owner Ethan C. Allen. The way they treat their customers is terrible. This is not a good way to bolster confidence among a customer base. It’s too bad, because Collectors has potential.

I had used a version of Collectors before a while back for my movie catalogue. Received an email from the creator who offered the entire package which included all the variations (action figures, movies, comics, etc.) at a ridiculously low price which I jumped on. I am an avid collector, so Collectors was mostly to catalogue my collection. And it works beautifully! I love all the things you can add, such as the date you bought it, for how much, current value, and various other things. And the barcode scanning works for the most part. If it doesn't, it's pretty easy to add the product manually. I'm absolutely loving Collectors so far! I've recommended it to this app already but for sure it's worth it for any real this app out there! Even though I got it mostly to archive my collection, I get excited to share with my friends and colleagues! And now I can thanks to this awesome app!😁👍🏼

Love Collectors. Something I’d like to see maybe, is some sort of line guide with the camera so when we take pictures of the books, it’s lined up fairly well and won’t come out horrendous when we crop the picture? And maybe a search bar on the top to type in what author we want to look at instead of scrolling ALL. THE. WAY. DOWN!! to the bottom when you want to see Nora Roberts or Alison Weir, and have over 3000 books or more!! Thanks!

After testing the free version of Collectors with some books I was excited to pay full price and expand my cataloging capabilities to my movie collection. Unfortunately that’s where my enthusiasm ended. Through trial and error I found out that when scanning a movie collection you only get the collection’s title and not all of the individual movies added to your collection. This means that you can’t search for those movies that you probably forgot you owned because they’re part of a collection. You can input them manually but I have a 100 movie collection from Warner Brothers that I’d be better off just typing into an Excel document at this point. I would think this would be easily fixable in a future update. If it is, my review will change. Until then, I remain…Disappointed. P.S. if someone buys the iOS version of your app, just give them access to the desktop version and vice versa. Don’t be so cheap.

Once upon a time I purchased Collectors. Then scanned so many of my items into it. Then I ended up having to restore my phone from scratch and now I can never figure out which version of Collectors I purchased since they have so many versions available… some for phone, some for iPad, some old, some new, some for just music, some for just movies, some for everything but which makes you pay again and again…. And THEN the real kicker is upon trying to upgrade to their “new and improved” version I can’t import the old versions info and now have to start all over. Why is iOS such a disaster for these types of apps - this is the third database app that has caused grief like this!

AND i bought the phone app but now I have to pay extra for the iPad app? What in the Sam blue blazes?

This is the best app I have ever purchased!! I got it when it first came out years ago. I purchased the whole package. It still acknowledges that purchase for all updates!
Collectors can store and retain info on anything you have. The easy upc scan is the easiest but you can manually put in a description or name and it will search the web to find it
It’s great for remembering what you have and having it ready and easy to see
I use it for dvds cds Lego playmobil dolls and many more individual collections.

I have had Collectors for a couple of years. I bought video games and movies. Scanned around 40 video games and over 400 movies possibly more. Now its telling me that I bought books section which I didn’t. All my movies/video games are no longer listed and it wants me to purchase again. I lost ally scanned movies/video game. It didn’t take that long for me to scan my video games in but it took 4-7 days to scan all of my dvds.

Bought Collectors a week ago on my iPhone X. Worked good for a bit and now Collectors won’t open and only crashes. Collectors has some serious bugs they need to work out. If I had known this I would have saved my money and not bought it. I read other reviews in Collectors store about it not be too stable and having issues. I should have listened and followed the advice on not purchasing Collectors.

Love Collectors, but it has some negative features…while using it, Collectors constantly keeps “shutting off” and requiring me to reboot or sign-out and sign-back-in in order to continue cataloguing…extremely frustrating…I have reported the issue to administrators many times during the past few years, but all they send me are precomposed emails that never assist me in resolving the problem…if this issue could be resolved, I would definitely give it a 5 Star rating!

I love the idea of Collectors and when it works, but frequently, it crashes and I have to re-enter information. I’ve tried communicating with support but I keep getting a “communication failed” message when I do. Maybe this will get someone’s attention?! Please help me be able to use Collectors.

I loved using this as means to keep a keen eye on my gaming collection. However in recent times with changes of iPhones & iOS updates, Collectors doesn’t function properly. I even lost my entire PS4 collection list and I had to do it all over again. It often freezes and I don’t understand why it’s reacting this way. App needs to be updated ASAP!

This is a wonderful app for any collector! It is a must have if you want to show off your collection. I only wish Collectors could have more pictures! I personally love it because I am able to look at my Yankee Yearbooks and my scorecards and know what I have without having to carry paper the old way. I only wish they expanded it to a baseball card collector.

So I recently just downloaded Collectors for organizing my Book shelf and so far I like it BUT one of the options I think that should me made available for adding books is a search engine. Meaning can we simply search books by title or author (which will use the internet) and when the book appears, simply be able to click “add to my collection” rather than having to manually type an ISBN or scanning the barcode. It would make adding books much easier, in my opinion.

I have a huge collection of movies. Constantly growing because that’s what I love to do is watch the movies. However I do have sisters and a brother that love to rent them out. So this has been a great way to not only add those movies to my collection, but to keep track of which person has what movie or movies and when they bring them back as well. 👍

This was the most wonderful app and I’ve used it for many, many years!! After many in-app purchases and countless hours of entering my huge collection of books, games & movies...suddenly I’m unable to open Collectors on any device!! All gone!!! So many hours and $ wasted!!! I cannot imagine entering all that info again as I did it over many years!!
And...to beat it all...Collectors support is non-existent...and by that I mean...the web page WONT EVEN OPEN!!! I hate so much that we can invest so much time and money into something that can just disappear overnight with no warning!!

Collectors is perfect for helping keep track of my collections. I love the ability to scan barcodes and see what I already own at a glance, with the nicely done display features. In-app purchases include many, many collection types and is not just limited to books, movies, and other electronics. Keep up the good work!

I like how I can get access to my list both on my laptop as well as the iPhone. The iPhone app is better at finding the images I want then the website. I wish there was a way to print the list with the images included.

Interface is pretty nice, and it helped me catalogue stacks of books that I was going to put in storage, keeping track of the boxes in which they are stored.
2/3 through the job, with appx. 400 books scanned and in part manually added to the collection, Collectors started crashing repeatedly and has now LOST ALL the data. 5 hours of work absolutely wasted, and I now have boxes full of books and I have no idea what's in them. An absolutely frustrating experience.
To the developer: help me out here!

After using Collectors for a knife collection for a couple of years I am about sick of it since it occasionally looses data that I input. What a pain that I can’t export photos to switch to something else.

I am a huge movie fan and own hundreds. I needed a great place to log all my movies. It keeps everything organized and documented in case anything every happened to my collection. Definitely recommend.
