Frustrated

I have been a loyal subscriber to this for over 30 years and lately this application is testing my patience. I cannot receive the latest issues, even after syncing, restoring my issues and I went as far as deleting EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine and reinstalling it. When I called customer service, no one could seem to address my issues and even went as far as telling me that my subscription had been cancelled, but could not even give me a answer on why. I did figure out that it had not been cancelled, which made more more upset that I was lied to. Once I was finally told that it was going to a month to month basis, did I get the August issue. I received a alert telling me that the September issue is available on Friday and as of today, still no issue on my iPad.

I love reading this, but I am to the point of canceling my subscription and will get my entertainment news else where. If anyone can fix/address this issue, then I will keep my subscription, but it needs to be addressed quickly. Send help!

Frustrating

I can’t seem to access any of my issues. I’m a subscriber and it keeps asking me to either purchase or start a free trial. Read other reviews on here and have tried what the developer has suggested of choosing the print/digital subscription and logging in with my email or account number. Logged in with my email and I have nothing in my library and I either have to purchase or try a free trial. I tried logging in with my account number and just trying to figure out where in the magazine my account number is located was a chore on its own. I basically had to go to the EW website to look it up. Once I found my account number, I tried using it to log into the iPad app and of course i got an error message saying it couldn’t log me in at this time. Reading the number of recent 1 star reviews on here and all pointing out the same issues, EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine is absolutely garbage. I’ll give a better a review once the developer fixes EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine .

Frustrated Like Others

I’m having the same issue as a lot of others folks since the update to EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine a few weeks ago. The last issue I was able to successfully download was April 5, 2019. Tried to download the new Avengers Issue for April 19 and it keeps wanting me to purchase or start a free trial. I already have a print/ digital subscription that is good through April 2020 so I shouldn’t have to purchase anything. Check my account online an everything looks fine.

Tried the suggestions listed here where I logged out and back in an that didn’t help. Also deleted EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine entirely the reinstalled and logged in. Still the same issue where it wants me to pay. I was used to being intermittently logged out but not being able to get my new issues is extremely frustrating.

This App Cheats Subscribers

EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine deserves zero stars - or negative stars, if that was an option. I have been a print/digital subscriber for years. Before the developers changed EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine I could access all past and present issues - for which I have already paid. Now, I can’t access any digital issues unless I am willing to pay for those issues - AGAIN. This is unacceptable and may be a violation of consumer protection laws. And even if it isn’t, the failure of the magazine and developer to address this issue after multiple reviews reporting the SAME problem shows complete disregard - and disrespect - to customers. Apple should insist that EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine be fixed or removed from EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine Store. Frankly, Entertainment Weekly and Apple should be embarrassed that this has been allowed to carry on for as long as it has.

I just don’t understand

I have never successfully been able to sign into the EW app and read my issues on line on my iPad. I have been trying forever and no matter how hard I try or how many times I try... nothing. I recently purchased a new 2 year subscription, hoping if I let my previous subscription run out and I could start over fresh that just might the thing I needed. I just tried to sign in with my magazine account number and it tells me they are experiencing problems and to try again later. I’ve been getting this message for eleven days. I have no idea what else I can do. I’m seriously so disappointed and so over this.

Awful

New format is horrible, and impossible to read. The layout is atrocious, and now they're going to one monthly issue. I like Entertainment Weekly, as in every week. As a lifelong reader (I still have issue 1), this is kind of crushing. I look forward to my weekly read of the issue, where I plan what to watch on tv for the week, what books to check out, movies to see.
It's always sad watching a magazine you have loved for decades die. And that's exactly where this is going. Monthly magazines are sad.
Edit: got a thank you from the developer for this review and they’re glad I’m enjoying using EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine . Good to know they’re complete tools.

Excellent Customer Service from App Developer

All is good in the land of Entertainment Weekly because of the developer making several attempts to resolve my problems. The last attempt work, and I can now read the digital downloads. The following is my original review: “Like others,I cannot download issues. Frustrating and a waste of time trying to access the digital issues.”

Beyond frustrated

I have been a subscriber to this weekly magazine since the mid 90’s. I started noticing that this ‘weekly’ magazine started coming once a month. No notice. No refund. Nothing. And for months, I’ve not been able to get into the EWapp. It says the same email registered to this account for 2 decades isn’t recognized. I finally get through to customer service and they confirm it’s the email on file. They can’t help with EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine or give me a number for the people who can help. I’m just deleting the useless thing and canceling the subscription. No wonder it’s gone downhill.

Less enjoyable

One of my favorite features of EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine was that I could download issues and read them on a plane. Now you have to be connected to the internet to access content, so you can no longer do this. :(

How is it possible that a problem this widespread cannot be fixed?

Everyone complains that they can’t get new issues since February 15. And then EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine won’t let me reenter my account information. It just responds that the service isn’t available right now. EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine creator tells everyone to email support. This is a terrible experience and the last time I’ll be subscribing to EW. As a 20 year subscriber, I’m very disappointed. How about you save the apologies in your response this time and just fix the problem for everyone all at once?

Unable to download recent issues

I have been a loyal subscriber for decades, so I was very disappointed when the magazine changed to monthly a few issues ago—especially with no warning. But my problem with EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine is that I can’t download any new issues since October. I have read multiple reviews on here stating the same problem. Seems like something that should be fixable with an update instead of every user having to contact customer service individually. Very frustrating.

Disappointed...

Been a subscriber for several years. Yes, the new format is over designed and hard to read. Headlines going vertical, then horizontal, then back to vertical. it’s basically designed to look like an entire magazine of advertisements. I logged in to the digital version and found out there are issues I haven’t received. Prob the post offices fault, but I can’t download any of these issues either. Last time I used EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine I had no problems with it but now I have to buy the issue? Say it ain’t so...

Least accessible site ever

The EW magazine and site is not visually accessible (small font and poor contrast that does not meet recommendations for those with even those who may need reading glasses) and the website only allows you to buy digital copies even though you have a magazine subscription. The third party vendor assisting with questions also has an robot helpdesk that does not allow you to type in questions - the keyboard feature does not work so you can not type in a live reply.

All is good now

Finally, the latest news feed is back. So,

1. I was able to log on with no issues - 1 star
2. I was able to download and read all issues - 2 stars
3. I am now able to read latest news - 3 stars
4. I am beginning to get used to the new UIs and navigations, still find the Explorer feature annoying - 3.5 stars
5. Customer Service when called is somewhat helpful - 4 stars.
6. Whoever from EW reading the reviews and actually listen and actually help the users is excellent - 5 stars

Thank you for updating and upgrading EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine to its full potential.

Frustrated, can’t log in into app for 3 days now

I’ve been trying for 3 days to login through the iPad app and 1st it doesn’t recognize my email or password. It was working for the longest time, but not now.
Deleted EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine and reloaded it, tried logging in again. Still no go.
So I changed my password and tried to login again with my email & new password and still no go.
Tried signing in with the acct. # and after few minutes I get We are currently experiencing some problems. Please try again.

Tried again on 2 separate days with signing in with my acct. # and still get the We are experiencing some problem message.
I’m done fighting with EntertainmentWeeklyMagazine . I’ll just go back to reading the magazine the old fashion way. It’s a good thing I still get the print version of the magazine.
