No useful location information

The one time we need to emergency charge in order to get home, we try finding a Blink charger in downtown Portland. First of all the app has a charger icon following us as we drive around trying to find one. Clicking on a charger on the map highlights it and then immediately reverts to the “closest” charger instead, so there is no way to get any information for the charger I selected. The reason I have to select a different one is because there is no information about exactly where the charger is. We outright never found several of them, likely because they’re located within buildings, including paid parking garages, yet the app gives *no* details indicating this. We even found one out in the open that wasn’t on the map at all, but the nearby valet told us it just plain didn’t work anyway. The slightest change to the map causes it to gray out and “load”, which makes basic map navigation extremely difficult. When we finally found a charger, the process of starting the charge was extremely non-obvious, with the charger saying to use a card. Turns out you have to navigate through the app and enter the unit number, which is something the charger itself could easily make clear.

Thanks for The Anxiety!

The map on your app doesn’t match the location where the chargers were when I arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport. Your app also said two chargers were available to use then that dropped to one. When I got there there were only three chargers and they were all occupied. I found a few more in the process of being installed and marked off with yellow tape, Thanks for that! I had to park my car partly blocking the parking area and took a charge plug from two cars that had been plugged in for days and I couldn’t activate any of them from the app. By this time my Leaf’s pack was down to 42 percent state of charge and there was no way I was getting home. So I had to take my car in the opposite direction away from my home 35 miles away to get to a Nissan dealership so I could use their fast charger to charge the car that by this time was down to 29 percent. I got it up to 88 percent state of charge in 30 minutes. I’m done with your app and will be uninstalling it. Thanks for the panic attack!

app is broken and the machines are in disrepair

Like others, I downloaded the app, set up and account, signed in, and put money in the account. Whenever I do anything on the app I get ‘temporarily unable to connect to Blink. please try again later.” I get this message even just trying to look at my account profile. I deleted the app and re downloaded and signed in again, same problem. The machine I was using had a miscalibrated touchscreen too, so it took me awhile to figure out how to work around that problem. After twenty frustrating minutes, I was able to charge by re-entering my credit card info manually. I have no idea whether the charge ended up coming out of my account funds or a new charge, since the app doesn’t work at all. Pretty much nothing about my experience with the company, app, or charger went as it should have.
