I have been using The Vault for nearly 10 years. We sync across devices and it has always worked really well. Then a few days ago, TheVault wouldn’t open. I have downloaded it several times again on two iPhones and an iPad. Each time it initially opens and shows some of our information, but it won’t sync across devices. Then all of the information we have stored disappears. And then TheVault crashes again. I have backed up my information, but can’t open that file. So now I’m going to need to start from scratch and find a new app unless the creators of TheVault can fix this!
I have used the vault for many years. A week ago on one of my three devices, specifically my iPhone, when I opened TheVault it would flash on the sign in page then go immediately to the apps page showing all the other apps on this page. No matter how many times I tried it would not open. My other devices would open normally. I thought if I deleted TheVault I could sign in and sync to the other devices.
This was a disasters. When I opened TheVault on my phone, each time I made a change in a folder and synced another device, that specific folder on the synced device would disappear and on the iPhone too.
I can not find a way to reach customer support no matter when I try. I am leaving in 2 weeks to be out of the country for 3 months and I desperately need The Vault to work on my iPhone and the one iPad I will be traveling with.
Also on my iPad, every time I sign in there are NO folders until I sync each time.
Help! Phil
Used it for years, basically just to store passwords, some racy photos & sensitive documents that have SSN’s account # etc.
TheVault guidance on add-on is a bit confusing- maybe that’s on me for not digging deeper so they get a pass BUT
Photos- TheVault eats some photos randomly & I don’t know why nor have I ever been able to recover them. I contacted the developer several years ago and the explained how to restore via SecureBackup & restore, used their SecureSync etc & they provided me guidance when I reached out but it didn’t work. I purchased one of their add-ons years ago but honestly it did absolutely no good with this problem nor did I really see a change in how or what TheVault did for me...still no regrets about using TheVault .
I tried to add a photo/example in this review of the generic red rectangular box with white lettered ‘IMG’ encased in the black outline of a cloud, all on a metallic background, but it won’t let me paste it here. In case you’re (a developer) reading this to debug this multi-year problem, this has happened on an iPhone 5s & 7 that I religiously kept up to date.
TheVault has been helpful but I’m done... it’s eaten one too many photos in random fashion & I'm looking for a replacement now.
I have used TheVault since it was first available and have always enjoyed it. Lately, it works fine on my iPad, but it won’t open on my iPhone. Once the Face ID appears, TheVault just vanishes- not open or accessible. There is no way to contact the developer to report the issue. On their website they give an address for support, but it just takes you back to the same spot you just came from. There is no way to report issues. Sad. I have really enjoyed using TheVault and have paid for several of the add-on features, but it just no longer works on my iPhone and no way to communicate with the developer to get it fixed.
Ive had TheVault for a few years now and have been very pleased with it, but just a few days ago it got erased from my phone. Now my understanding is when reloaded back on the same device it should recognize that device allowing you to retain your original account , yet it did not. It wants me to recreate a new sign in and everything. I’ve reached out to support twice about this issue and I have yet to get a response. Please help! There is vital info that I must retrieve. Please, please with a cherry on top:(
It worked very well for a very long time; then suddenly, a few weeks ago, it would not accept facial recognition or the password.
There were loads of passwords in there, that were not used that frequently but when needed were extremely important. There were also photos in there that are irreplaceable.
I contacted them and they said just reload TheVault from TheVault Store. Tried it several times to no avail.
That’s why I gave it three stars for the over a decade’s worth of successful operation.
My spouse and I have used The Vault for many years as not only our password keeper but for related information and documents we want to know are secure yet accessible almost anywhere. Only twice in that time have I needed to reach out for support and both times received timely assistance that resolved my issues. I don’t even use a fraction of what The Vault can do. I’d like to have had it during my working career.
My App Store update says “The Vault” has been withdrawn from TheVault Store :(
The Vault has been our ‘go-to’ app for secure storage since before the days of “Best Apps” . It was the ONLY app we found that would run on multiple platforms and allow secure data access no matter what country or hemisphere we traveled too, WITH or WITHOUT INTERNET or cloud access.
Just want to say THANK YOU!!! for the years of commitment you gave to development and continuous updates to keep us secure. Also thank you for your replies and support during all of those times of change.

UPDATE: Appreciate your immediate response to explain you intentionally removed “The Vault” from TheVault Store overnight to take care of unexpected interactions with the new IOS. The new update ran seamlessly.
Thanks again for keeping our information secure!
I’ve been using TheVault for 12 years for password storage, private and sensitive documents, credit card info, etc. user friendly with so many options. When I experienced a recent issue due to an update the company was quick to develop a fix and support me with sound advice. I continue to use TheVault on my iPhone and iPad and expect to for years to come. No other app for iOS does what TheVault does, period.
Last week, I had a hiccup installing the MAC version on my laptop. I emailed customer service with my issue. This was a Saturday night. I recieved a reply and assitance on Sunday! Then as luck would have it, I had a follow up question. I recieved a reply the following day - which happen to be Labor Day. I found my hiccup and The Vault works better on my Mac than it does on my iPhone. Now I wish my iPhone would sync automatically.... Anyway, what a great customer service experiance and a wonderful app... Thank you!
When I first got an iPhone (4s), I realized how completely this new gizmo was going to eclipse my long-gone PDA and all other methods of keeping records safe. I’d even taken to printing out lists of passwords on the backs of my grandchildren’s artwork and then filing them under “Peter—three yrs old” in my metal filing cabinet. That was my desperate idea of disguising crucial information.
Finally I found The Vault in TheVault Store. I didn’t know it was unique or anything—just started using it. And it was great! Easy to use and to organize MY WAY. More peace of mind than the file-cabinet gambit. New features are added almost every month, it seems—but never have I had to discard a favored practice just because some geek somewhere knew better than me what I should be doing. Vault staff are there to help (if you know how to find their email) and are clearly intelligent and educated. There are now so many ways to make The Vault useful that I know I’ll never be a “Vault Master.” Use it and enjoy!
Have dozens of documents, user names & passwords stored. Even some of my salient medical records. It does exactly what the documentation says it should, every time. I keep TheVault icon buried so it’s less likely that anyone will find it, let alone crack the password. Really great app. Addendum: Been using The Vault without incident for years. Had a problem with the latest update today. Emailed support & an received answer within an hour. Problem totally solved within next hour. Great app & great support. Thank you.
I’m not sure there’s another password app that keeps your data locally on your devices rather than uploading to a server that can be hacked. To me, that is golden. Also, there’s no recurring fee to sync between devices. Perhaps best of all, look at the developer’s privacy policy. Unlike their competitors, they collect zero information. The Vault is mature and stable, with frequent updates and a quick response to any issues. New features are frequently added, which can result in a bit of a learning curve even for longtime users. For instance, I didn’t realize that you can swipe from right to left to reveal a masked credential, and vice-versa. You can backup manually on demand to Dropbox, iCloud, or Microsoft OneDrive. Or you can let TheVault manage backups for you automatically. The developers have gone a long way to make passwords secure and easy.
I've been using The Vault for years and it has protected all of my information without any problems. When I ask for Support they are right there. No, I can't get through by phone but they do respond to email. I admit that I just use a small part of the vault to save a bit of information. As I look over their settings and directions, I do see that The Vault provides much more than I use, and should you should explore all of that. Highly recommended!!
I can’t keep track of the 50 or so passwords I need to remember, never mind the number of them that I have to change every couple of months. TheVault is perfect for that. I have it synced on my iPad as well, so everything stays updated on both devices. After missing a recent feature update, I emailed the developer for support. I received a very prompt helpful reply with the information I missed along with additional support info. Not my most used app, but it is my favorite.
I ran in to difficulty transferring a photo on my iPhone ‘Photos’ app to The Vault. I kept trying and trying after reading the instructions and felt as though I was not understanding them. After several attempts, I sent an email to The Vaults support team. They responded very quickly and provided step-by-step details of what I needed to do. I did exactly a they said and was able to move the photo to The Vault on the first try. Not only is the support team great to work with but TheVault is amazing. Thank you Vault team.
TheVault is very secure and relatively easy learning curve. Great for keeping all your personal, family and home important data.
Never had any problems until recently when I suddenly couldn’t login after an IOS software update. But, Vault support team quickly responded to my email for help with detailed instructions on how to resolve the issue. I was up and running again within a day. This also reinforced to me the critical importance of insuring regular backups are done!
I highly recommend The Vault.
Just a quick comment on client support. I’ve used TheVault as my primary password keeper for many years with no issues. I really like the sync feature that makes it easy to have TheVault continually update between IPad, IPhone and Mac. But I recently had my IPad repaired/reset and I was under the impression that since my IPad was the primary syncing device that all my devices might sync to it erasing 100+ passwords. Support was prompt and accurate with their guidance and reassured me the selection of a primary device was a one time only choice. It was then quick and easy to confidently replace all my passwords on my IPad.
I have used this program for all of our devices for many years, with The Vault keeping everything in sync flawlessly. So, I was a bit bothered when iPad and iPhone, while syncing with each other, would ignore the MacBook. An email to tech support elicited a quick response, and the problem was resolved immediately. Through some error on my part, Dropbox (which The Vault uses as the common platform for syncing) had been uninstalled. Re-installing it immediately caused a re-sync of my MacBook, with everything checking out among all devices. Thanks again for excellent tech support!
I have been using TheVault for a few years and it has been a great, convenient way to keep passwords and details protected.
I had an incident recently where the home button and fingerprint ID on my phone stopped working, and I wasn’t sure how to access TheVault (among a lot of other things on my phone).
I was very happy when I was wrote into support and got answers right away that helped me out. Gives me only increased confidence in an already good product for my needs. Thanks!

The Vault provides straightforward, easy to use, secure storage for all your documents and other data, such as passwords, login credentials and any other confidential information.
(Some other - payed - apps do too, but some apps advertised as "secure" really do not, and for example save your data using a simple base-64 encoding: your information looks scrambled, but is as readable as plain text when you know how).
▸ The Vault can securely store photos and pictures from your camera or photo library; for example a copy of your passport, credit card, or just the serial numbers of some equipment you own.
The Vault uses PBKDF2 key derivation with an HMAC-SHA512 PRF, and HMAC-SHA256 Encrypt-then-MAC authenticated 256-bit AES encryption, using CommonCrypto functionality only.
▸ The Vault is very simple to use, yet it employs industry-standard encryption to keep your data safe.
