For me Onleihe once more doesn’t work after an iOS update. I have the official update and it doesn’t work, not a Beta or Gold. Onleihe is for me very disappointing for many other reasons too. Stops playing Audio Books after every Chapter, this is especially annoying when driving. Even when the check box to remember user and password I need to Login at least once a Day. Unfortunately I have no choice and need to deal with it but as I said very frustrating.

App worked ok. But since the last update certain settings are not working anymore: can’t change background color (black background and white font, which is always nice when reading in the dark), or adjusting the size of the font. Would be great if they could change that again.

To download magazines from the server? Wanted to read a newspaper (36mb) and already waiting for 10+ minutes for the download to happen. I’m thankful for the media I get from Germany as a German living abroad but waiting forever to read a Magazine is kind of a bummer. Please fix if you can. Thank you!

“otimized” audiobooks? it’s not possible
to download audiobooks anymore.
If you listen to „optimized“ audiobooks, Onleihe buffers after EVERY chapter. Sometimes you have to close and restart Onleihe in order to be able to continue listening … so annoying!
Hey - this app-Developers: check out the „libby app“. an app that us-libraries use. Works like a charm - just saying ….

Great to have an app that allows accessing German library services. The value for money of those library services is definitely excellent and cannot be praised enough.

Onleihe however is the opposite. Free but not as in free beer - rather as in of very little value.
1) Regularly logs you out and required re-login, sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after using a second device, the only consistency is how erratically these logouts happen. An update to fix precisely that was seemingly unsuccessful.
2) it can neither play nor download and handover video content to other apps
3) it consistently fails to download content, even smaller 30-40mb files sometimes work, sometimes not. Background downloads almost always fail, it can only download multiple items sequentially not simultaneously and in most cases a simple screen lock will force you to start over. That is, if you’re still logged in by any chance.
4) larger audiobooks never download completely, unless you disable screen lock and leave Onleihe open, device untouched for many minutes. 500mb zip through a 50mbit line in less than 10 seconds - Onleihe takes 15 minutes an then timeouts
5) listening as stream - well that could be an option... if the stream would survive a network handover. If you start at home better disable WiFi if you eventually venture outside, otherwise 200m into your journey it will stop and your park your bike, take off your gloves, fumble with your phone because guess what: it’s not just stopped, it has logged you out. Repeat.

Unfortunately there’s little hope for improvement as Onleihe is not paid for by the users or relying on positive user feedback but rather a digital appendix to an otherwise very analogue system - so there’s little incentive that the user pain points are a top focus. But during COVID it remains my only access channel to my library’s content. So I keep swearing at the developers and log in. Again.

Onleihe is a true disappointment :-(
I love listening to audiobooks but with Onleihe you can only stream and not download. As soon as my phone goes in lock mode, Onleihe stops working. I also get many error messages and everything just freezes or shuts down.
Needs updates!!!!!!!

Never had a problem and I enjoy all the free German books I can get

Disappointed that audiobooks hang up after each chapter. Have to constantly delete and reinstall app. Very frustrating.

I literally hope the builder do sth about enormous bugs , i can’t easily download books always unknown errors occurred.. für movies that seems like never gonna work at all. Plus databank at this library is unbelievable limited. Schade

Onleihe crashes every time when I tap the “read” button, making it unusable.

Doesn’t load at all or kicks me out. Can’t change to select page. Jumps around. You name it. Very poorly coded.

I can’t download audio, or even stream it very well in the background. Also, Onleihe frequently crashes.

Pity.

But since the last update it doesn't work for me anymore. As soon as my phone locks itself, Onleihe stops working. Pretty annoying, especially when the playback is skipping and you miss parts of the story... Hope they'll fix it soon!

Katastrophe, wie die anderen Reviewer auch schon sagten. Stürzt dauernd ab, laedt nur ganz selten etwas reibungslos, und auch dann extrem langsam, herunter. Unglaublich, dass sich die Bibliotheken damit zufrieden geben, da es andere apps gaebe, zB Overdrive, die tadellos funktionieren.

Aber die App hat es geschafft, in den 4 Jahren seit meiner letzten Nutzung noch schlechter zu werden. Man könnte meinen, dass eine App, die von der Mehrheit der Bibliotheken in Deutschland genutzt wird, eher Andrang dazu hätte, sich in diesem Zeitraum zu verbessern. Ständig landen Titel auf meiner Wunschliste, weil die App nicht versteht, dass ich nur durch die Listen scrollen möchte und mein Daumen als Rechtshänder eben eher auf der rechten Bildschirmseite aufkommt - also genau auf der Seite, wo sich der Button für die Wunschliste befindet. (Dieses Problem habe ich bei keiner anderen App.) Die Listenansicht lädt teilweise unvollständig, so dass man keine anständige Übersicht erhält. Downloads laden eher langsam und selbst wenn man ein Hörbuch vor dem Abspielen herunterlädt, kommt es trotzdem immer wieder zu Unterbrechungen beim Abspielen. Man kann keine Suchen abspeichern und muss ständig alles neu einstellen, wenn man gerne zwischen Genres und Medien wechselt. Außerdem würde ich gerne die Sprache in der App wechseln. Die App orientiert sich hier leider nur nach den Systemeinstellungen (bei mir auf Englisch eingestellt), ich würde aber eine deutsche App viel lieber auf Deutsch nutzen ohne die Systemsprache ändern zu müssen. Insgesamt enttäuscht die App mich leider in Sachen Funktionalität und UX.

Alle paar Stunden muss man sich neu einloggen, manchmal mehrmals in einer Stunde. Wenn man beim Browsen runterscrollt, wird man immer und immer wieder einfach zurück an den Anfang der Liste geschickt, es ist sehr frustrierend. Manchmal geht die App plötzlich gar nicht mehr, man klickt drauf, es kommt kurz das this app Logo, und schwups ist die App wieder weg. Und was eAudio angeht, manchmal stockt es in der Mitte und geht nicht weiter, oder wiederholt dasselbe wie eine kaputte Schallplatte. Wenn man die Dateien im Vorhinein runterlädt, hat man diese Probleme nicht, aber manchmal dauert das sehr lange, und man kann nicht gleichzeitig runterladen und hören! Und zuletzt, man kann eAudios nicht vorzeitig zurückgeben, wodurch sich die Wartezeiten stark erhöhen. Nur gut, dass meine Bücherei außer this app auch noch Overdrive anbietet, das ist um Welten besser!

Es wäre hilfreich, wenn man ausgeliehene Bücher in einem externen App lesen könnte. Ich leihe auch viel von amerikanischen Bibliotheken, die eBooks auch in Kindle öffnen lassen.

Diese Ausleihe App funktioniert nicht. Man kann sich weder Buch, E-Magazin, Hörbuch noch Sonstiges damit ausleihen. Testen Sie Ihr Produkt auch auf Funktionalität?? Alle (fast alle) deutschen Büchereien bieten ausschliesslich über diese App ihre elektronische Ausleihe an! Und nun?

Grauenhaft! So langsamer dass man ein Buch schneller kopieren kann als es zu Downloaden... Und selbst wenn man dann endlich es hinbekommen hat, ein Buch runterzuladen, stürzt die App beim lesen ständig ab, oder die Seiten hängen ewig fest. Alles in allem eine sehr frustrierende Angelegenheit...

Auch wenn die Funktionalität schon immer beschränkt war, lief diese App eigentlich solide und war gut zu nutzen.

Seit dem letzten Update aber ist sie extrem langsam geworden und neigt dazu abzustürzen.

Ich wünschte fiese App würde endlich mal so funktionieren wie die sollte ... ich muss meinen IPad Minimum 1 mal am Tag rebooten um sie funktionsfähig zu machen ... Downloads funktionieren nicht , Bücher verschwinden, ich muss mich permanent neu einloggen ... absolut ätzend ....

Mit viel Glück, kann man ein Buch herunterladen und ohne Schwierigkeiten hören. Meistens gibt es jedoch Probleme. Diese sind so zahlreich und frustrierend, daß sie aufzulisten, zu viel Zeit in anspruch nehmen würde. Zur Zeit lässt die App sich nicht einmal öffnen. Wenn Ich sie aber neu installiere, verschwindet das Buch auf das Ich wochenlang gewartet habe.

Die App ist wertlos und Zeitverschwendung. Die Bibliotheken sind eben staatlich, und deswegen ohne irgendwelche Hilfe. Vergessen.
