Organic Nomenclature Reviews

I understand you may have wanted to aim for intuitive learning and as practice after going through the basic rules, and yet I still feel that there is two small adjustments that could make it better. First, a display of the rule or clarification for the error that cost me points. Secondly the addition of a combination of animation and sound for a perfect score, and another for a very good job, and an incentive to try again if just ok or wrong, like a second chance would make it better.

I took organic chemistry as an undergrad, but dropped the class and recently decided to learn organic chemistry on the side to help me understand certain concepts at work. I chose the nomenclature app because I remember enjoying that lesson in class. The material was very straight-forward, concise, and easy to understand. The emojis are cool too... makes OrganicNomenclature fun! The LITE definitely proved to me that the real app will be a winner!

OrganicNomenclature is truly amazing!! Easy to follow and understand. Chemistry is hard for me but OrganicNomenclature has made it possible for me to learn the hard things that my teacher couldn’t help me with. Forever thankful ❤️

It’s good for learning the basics and I’m not sure if it has everything that could be needed.
I was expecting for more common names to be included especially for branching substituents that some professors would require you to know the common names for instead of treating it like another parent chain and substituents.
Overall, it’ll be nice to help keep the basics in mind.

Very helpful when learning nomenclature. Gives you a lesson and tells you what you did wrong after every quiz question.

Great practice for simple chains. Increasing the difficulty as you progress would be nice. Most were too easy from the start.

OrganicNomenclature seems functional and basic. It teaches you IUPAC naming rules and gives a short quiz at the end. I wish the quiz was longer.

Very simple app, does little explaining, you have know how to name organic molecules before using OrganicNomenclature. It doesn’t really teach you. This is more for practice. It’s an okay app for being an Organic Chemistry app. I’ll still give it 5 stars but it needs a lot of improvements.

This is definitely the best way to learn and maintain nomenclature for chemistry. I bought the upgrades and it has been more than worth it.

Great quiz easy to follow. One idea is to make the answering system easier to use. It’s difficult to get multiple numbers and branch substituents together with the way it’s set up right now.

I need more practice. In my first month of ochem and I understand nomenclature, but one tiny mistake and it’s wrong. Just need lots of practice

It has very simplistic problems which is good to grasp organic chemistry nomenclature. Well explained lessons before quizzes. The only downside is that you have to purchase extension packages to get the most out uf OrganicNomenclature .

I’m not really stuck on nomenclature but it’s good to have an app so you can practice it before falling asleep. Highly recommended!

It’s a really great app to help students train in basic nomenclature. The quizzes are succinct and on topic. The lessons are informative yet short.

I found a love for ochem and want to practice it more. This may not be the coolest way but it’s simple and easy to learn

Really good app I love it I feel like I’m playing a game rather than studying but I’m learning and having fun I 100% recommend it

What I know about IUPAC naming is that it follows alphabetical order, an ethyl comes before a methyl in naming even if it doesn’t in numbering. The quiz was confusing about that.

Great review for starting out, does have limitations but overall a great stepping stone into understanding the concepts better.
