Pretty good app except for the test mode (same questions)

I am enjoying PrivatePilotTestPrep and the learning mode but I get a bit frustrated with the test mode where the 60 questions are always the same, just drawn in a different sequence at each new test.
It’s lame when there are more than 1,000 questions in PrivatePilotTestPrep .

Any way to fix this and have 60 questions randomly taken from all the database at each test session?

Good

PrivatePilotTestPrep is very clean. It works very well on my tablet, but does not save my progress at all on my phone. I have to start all over again and I cant keep track like I can on my tablet. Overall a good app. Have not taken the FAA test, so cant compare the accuracy at the current time, but looks like simple questions and answers/explanation

Helped me pass the test

I used PrivatePilotTestPrep almost exclusively for my studying and passed the test with 92% (you only need 70%). I got through about 500 of the questions through PrivatePilotTestPrep, and I would say only one or two of the questions on the actual test I hadn't seen before in the practice tests.

My only complaint and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that it would be nice if you could mark questions and save them across sessions. As it is anything you mark is only accessible during a given session, whereas there are some trickier questions I'd have preferred to save for review at anytime.

Great app, couple changes needed

Overall awesome study tool. As others have said, you need to be able to have your 'flagged' questions saved so you can go over them at any time. Second, unless I'm missing something, the cross country section is basically impossible to do on your phone. The distances and course headings should be given. There's no way to measure them otherwise and you can't complete the E6B practice.

Passed my PAR exam with 93%

I used PrivatePilotTestPrep a lot, along with their free test prep on their website. So some reason PrivatePilotTestPrep kept giving me repeat questions on the test. So I supplemented my studies with their website test and used the Gleim study book. Between those three sources I had a very well grounded study guide to accompany my online ground school from Jeppesen.

Excellent Tool!!

Just got a 98% on my written. I used the Jeppeson study guide and after that exclusively studied with PrivatePilotTestPrep. It was so similar to the actual test! It was nice for me to have the study guide as well so I had a hard copy of the testing supplements. I’m a new mom and has to study as efficiently as possible (during nap time) and this was just perfect. Thank you Sporty’s! I’d recommend to anybody! To those still studying: remember that you have to match the map scale in the supplements and not your actual plotter! I didn’t know that when I started out and got very frustrated!

I passed the test and this saved me major time

You can read the book. You can go through and memorize some 800 questions. Or you can get this and go much faster plus learn more effectively. More importantly, it trains you to pass. Great app.

STUDIED ONE DAY AND PASSED THE NEXT

I legitimately studied on a Sunday and passed on a Monday. Granted I did have some background knowledge of the PAR questions before I purchased PrivatePilotTestPrep , but never actually studied. Got PrivatePilotTestPrep, did the practice exams over and over for 4 to 5 hours on Sunday and took the written at 930am on Monday, and passed!

Passed test!!

I failed the written exam the first time I took it then came across PrivatePilotTestPrep...I did countless amounts of practice tests and got over an 80% on all of them, then finally scheduled to retake the written exam...and passed it with a very good grade...I highly recommend this to anyone trying to pass the private pilot written exam!!

Loved it, thank you

I used this to help with my Test and id highly recommend it! The ability to take tests anywhere that have detailed explanations too all questions on your phone is highly useful and in my experience was a huge contribution to me passing with a 92.

All you need for the PPL written

I read the FAA’s free PDFs of the PHAK and AFH during my flight training, then used PrivatePilotTestPrep to get a 93 on the written. It was almost completely spot on.

I wish I knew if I could do the same for the instrument written with the instrument flying handbook and instrument procedures handbook, or if the instrument test prep app was included in a bundle.

Great tool for review

Retired military helicopter pilot. Started private pilot training for airplane single engine land nine years after my last military helicopter flight. This program was a great refresher/review of topics I was required to know but not necessarily receiving instruction on based on my past experience. The links for the references to the answers were very helpful when I needed to dig deeper on a topic.

Useful Tool to Pass FAA Private Pilot Written

Took my Private Pilot FAA Written exam today and passed with an 85% thanks to this useful app. Solely used PrivatePilotTestPrep to study. Went through every section about three times each and took about 30 practice tests. Probably would have gotten a 100% if I started studying more than a week out. 5 out of 5 stars.

Great Test Prep Tool!

Just took my written and scored a 95%! Easy to use! The best thing about it was that it had the question on the top when you went to use the chart or figure so you didn’t have to go back and forth looking at the question. Save function was okay, but if you didn’t answer a question it took you back to the beginning of the test. Really a pain when you are going through all 800+ questions. Overall I would recommend this over ASA’s app. Thanks Sporty’s!

Great App

Used this, as well as a Gleim textbook as a secondary study tool. I'll credit PrivatePilotTestPrep to the reason I passed with a high score. A solid 2 weeks, 3 hours a day I used PrivatePilotTestPrep. The real test took me 40 minutes and a majority of the questions were the same you'd see on PrivatePilotTestPrep. Using the Instrument version now. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Word for Word FAA Questions

As of 2022 PrivatePilotTestPrep has questions straight out of the ASA PPL study book. These questions are word for word used on the FAA written test, and makes it super easy to pass. I promise you, if you can go through PrivatePilotTestPrep and answer every question correctly, you’ll ace your FAA written exam. Doesn’t get any easier than this.

Great Prep

I used this to pass my written and it helped a lot. I had used a different online school but I needed something that can work without a connection and this helped.

Only recommendations are:
* Wish we had more sample test questions from the FAA. I did notice that one question from the FAA sample test is not in the study test (REIM GPS question)
* Wish progress and reviews worked across devices with iCloud

Great app!

I used PrivatePilotTestPrep along with many other study sources. PrivatePilotTestPrep was my #1 study resource.

Because of PrivatePilotTestPrep, I scored a 97% on my written test. On the actual written test itself, I only found one question that I wasn't familiar with.

Some recommendations/notes I would advice everyone is to check if the figures in PrivatePilotTestPrep match your actual figures book, as the figures book in PrivatePilotTestPrep did not match the current figures book. Lots of questions are repeated in the section, which isn't a big complaint for me because it helped me remember the question, but could be annoying for other people.

If you want to be like me and score a 97% (or greater), I really recommend buying PrivatePilotTestPrep! Make sure you study EVERYTHING!

Passed with 87% today!!

Most of my studies were with PrivatePilotTestPrep. 80% sporty’s 20% FARAIM and PHAK. Once I was consistently scoring above 90% on the practice exams my instructor endorsed me and I scheduled the real exam. Many questions were close to the ones on PrivatePilotTestPrep.

-The difficulty comes when you try to determine distance on the sectionals within PrivatePilotTestPrep on an iPhone screen. Also, shooting multiple radials to find a specific point. Would have been a bit easier if I had a tablet. The supplements are great though!

Study Buddy is Awesome

I used study buddy to prepare for my written exam and got a 90%. I usually do nit do well on exams, but PrivatePilotTestPrep had me well prepared for the exam. I recommend using a device larger than a cell phone. I'm definitely going to recommend PrivatePilotTestPrep far and wide.
