Barely usable
You cannot register unless you have a German number. (Activation doesn’t work) so if you are a tourist, you better buy your ticket from a ticket machine instead. Also, ironically, the app asks you to permit access to tour contact list. Why is that??
Can't buy ticket
There is a function to buy an online ticket but it doesn't work. When you click purchase the app just infinitely loads. Better off using the DB app.
Excludes non Germans
The app now requires an account which you can only obtain with a German phone numbers. That’s incredibly rude to tourists and anyone else visiting. Might I say racis....
Just remove this and use BVG app
It’s like night and day compared to BVG app (which I ADORE!). Why can’t they learn from BVG?
Useless
Can’t add payment method. Can’t buy tickets.
The best BVG app right now
Best app on the store at the moment. It's got all the functions that Fahrinfo lost with its latest update. You can search by address, click for earlier or later results, you can see departure times by station (extremely useful with buses since they almost always don't stick to the regular schedule), all maps are there, u-sbahn, tram, 24h, potsdam. Walking maps are there as well. And it even has some improvements over the Fahrinfo app, for example the departure times also show the real departure time right beneath with green/yellow/red fonts depending on the delay; and you can see the complete itinerary with all the stations you'll be passing by so you can make sure you are on the right track. Only things they could improve: add the "graph" view so you see all the itineraries side by side by time and not just as a list. And add the stations maps, so you know where the h the TXL or 200 bus depart from at Alex or at the Hauptbahnhof, if Fahrinfo updates and brings back that functionality I might go back to them. But all in all, best app so far! I might even stick with it even if Fahrinfo updates...unless they being back the station maps...then that'd be a dealsealer.
Love this app.
No more waiting in front of the ticket machine for the guy in front to finish looking for change or for the ticket to print out — you can buy your subway (U Bahn or S Bahn), tram, or bus ticket while you’re walking to the station. I see that some are having trouble after the latest update, but it’s fine on my iPhone 6s. And you can buy multiple tickets and mix an order for full and partial fare tix. My daughter has an iPhone 4 and is having some problems with the app — for some reason, she can only buy a ticket on a wifi connection, not with her regular phone service. I don’t use the mapping function, so I can’t comment on that. The app is free, and if it works for you, I think you’ll find it highly convenient.
Can't buy tickets from US mobile phone?
App seems great for planning and the idea of being able to buy mobile tickets is great. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with a US mobile phone. I set up an account but am unable to retrieve the PIN despite multiple tries. There doesn't seem to be any email support either, only a German phone number. I think I can manually enter my credit card but I apparently will have to do that every time I buy a ticket. Also - wish I could purchase multiple tickets and choose when to "activate" (validate) them from the app. Though I suppose that's ripe for abuse - people wouldn't validate until they see the policeman approaching...
Necessity
I would be lost without this app! I use it several times a day and it has saved me tons of time. I'm sure it's helpful for tourists but as a resident it's absolutely necessary to avoid wasting time going the long way.
Essential Tool, But Slow
I use this app every day to navigate point-to-point through the complex web of the BVG system. An essential tool. What is missing is access to view transit system maps. Also, the app is slow and freezes when you switch out of the app and back in.
Pretty much a necessity
And very complete feature set, except for terrible walking directions and lack of integration into Maps.
New Update Very Disappointing
This app was so great and after the recent update, it no longer works. I have resorted to using Google maps to find my routes with the bus or train. It is really disappointing that it attempting to make the app better, it had been made dysfunctional and pretty much useless.
Super
Works well and better than any of the other apps for Berlin.
Great!
Would be awesome for passbook compatibility so I don't need a ticket every time.
Very glitchy
Buggy and poorly thought-out interface from VBB (especially for ticket purchases, which often fail to go through), do yourself a favor and just get the BVG app!
