Downgraded- App getting worse

downgraded to 2 stars - good for organization, playlists. But they removed the very functions I gave them 5 stars for! I wrote a 5 star review about 2 years ago, which still shows up on their app reviews. I thanked the developers for adding ½ page scroll for pdf files at my request and for the way they fixed pagination of pdf files. I use pdf lead sheets and sheet music exclusively since I find Chordie file format to be useless. These functions disappeared with no warning last year and have not come back. I’m in the process of switching to a better music reader. I guess they got my money...

It would have been 5 stars but no iCloud

I have SongBookChordpro on my Mac Pro, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro, and it gets the songs perfectly there. I truly love the Mac version. However the iPad App only does DropBox, GoogleDrive and Microsoft cloud sharing, or manual sharing thru Files App, which makes it almost totally useless for me. If you can do without iCloud, I strongly recommend it. However I don't use any of those cloud file systems , so it has become totally useless. In the three and a half years time period I have owned SongBookChordpro, I have used it 3 times. The third time being tonight, and discovering, again, why it is useless to me. I can download the songs piece by piece, but what a pain. In this day and age, it is infuriating to find an App that doesn't automatically sync on iCloud. If you want iCloud sync, stay away, if it is not important for you, then by all means get it.

Pretty good, but needs to support Apple ecosystem

Likes:
Supports iPad, iPhone, Mac. I own all three.
Great screen formatting
Respects your privacy. Collects no data
Supports the Apple store on Mac

Dislikes:
Mac version has very clunky transport controls.
Needs to synchronize through iCloud.
Needs to directly support Apple Music without having to make a copy of each song as an mp3.
Navigation gets slow on 2019 iMac with 300 songs

Verdict:
I put three hundred songs in this, and tried it for a month. I have gone back to OnSong. (I bought before they went subscription)

This would be my go to instead of OnSong if it fully supported the Apple ecosystem, but without that, it’s not for me.

Privacy issues for those who care:
SongBookChordpro respects your privacy, which is great. Then to synch, they use google and box, who DEFINITELY don’t. Go figure…..

My Go-To Songbook app!

I’ve been using SongBook ChordPro for a few years now. I love how easy it is to use on any of the versions. I have the MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Windows versions and am using a Dropbox folder to share all my chord sheets between devices. The only thing I might ask for to improve working with SongBookChordpro might be an expanded ChordPro insert menu, or at least a reference sheet of all the ChordPro tags that are supported.
I started using SongBookChordpro for my guitar sheets for jam sessions. It really helps to have all my chord sheets on my iPad rather than a binder full of loose sheets that I have to shuffle through and re-organize all the time! I’ve now started using it for my newly-acquired mandolin, and I love that I can set the instrument using ChordPro notation and SongBookChordpro gives me the correct chords!
I’ve also played around with the group sharing function, and that really works nicely! Unfortunately most of the groups I jam with aren’t quite the tech-enthusiasts that I am, so I don’t usually get to take advantage of that set of features...but it’s nice to have the option!
In short, keep up the good work! I love SongBookChordpro!

Many advantages over OnSong!

I have bought this for virtually every platform that it is available and my song stuff seamlessly integrates across devices with Dropbox. So cool! Has 2 column support in landscape for less or in some cases no scrolling (OnSong still doesn’t despite 2+ years of promising it is coming soon). Price / features way cheaper than OnSong. Buy the PC version too if you use Songbook much because they compliment each other so well it is very worth it!

Top Notch Software

I moved from a competitor Song management system to this one because this runs on all platforms that I use and has the features I need.

Works great. I especially love the “Play Together” function.

And the option to send MIDI comments when songs are selected is fabulous. Keeps my pedal patches, looper, and drummer in sync with my songs.

One irritating thing however is MIDI commands are sent to ALL devices on all ports with no option to turn a particular port off.

Most of the time this is not an issue but it affects me because changing songs freezes my AKAI APC40 MK II.

It sure would be nice to be able to turn off sending MIDI commands to some ports while keeping others engaged.

The app to have for all musicians

I’ve using SongBookChordpro for years and have never been disappointed. As a church musician having all your music at hand is of upmost importance. Transposing on the fly with chord symbols over lyrics is a really a blessing. Chord charts for different instruments, importing and exporting and synchronization with other devices in your band. Adding chords to lyrics is a breeze. I highly recommend SongBookChordpro!

Teleprompter saves paper good bye notebooks of music

How many banjo pickers does it take to transpose a song with more than three chords? Just one if they have SongBookChordpro! Goes from I IV V to G C D from simple text file format. Internet importer keeps getting smarter. Well done. Money well spent 🎶 Now if we can fix all the lyrics typos online. The latest upgrades make SongBookChordpro even better. scale to fit wireless printing, PDF viewer. Great job!

Great easy to use. Super practical!

I had been using SongBookChordpro for a long time now and I can recommend it!
I have a extensive amount of songs that I use every Saturday for worship and SongBookChordpro had become my little helper. I can connect my songs from iPhone to iPad and I can transpose chords in a fly with no problem.
Dev is updating this in timely manner and they responded quick when I pointed to a bug.

Well Supported App!

I have been using SongBookChordpro for over five years now. The developer is constantly updating and supporting users. He is great to work with! SongBookChordpro sure beats my old three ring binder!
Best thing about SongBookChordpro is you can do lyrics and chords for a given song and when needed, use the Tab Generator for solos as well. The Tab Generator is a bit buggy, but it is workable.
Wish it would link to Apple’s Files app.
In the final analysis, you won’t be disappointed.

Useful for Musicians IPad version

I play in multiple bands mostly covers. We share set lists and songs making our own arrangements and I write all my originals and others that I record on. I fix all songs that are wrong on line and add times and BPMs. We share playlists and arrangements. My only suggestion is when you share a pdf, for printing, I wish there was a way to add all the details besides the keys and titles(times, bpm, notes), then it would be 5 stars. Tom Morse

Love the app but loses my songs

I have been using Songbook for several years as an amateur musician who is starting to gig some. Love the way it pulls songs from Chordie and allows key transitions, manual entering comments, etc. I have over 1300 songs on my two iPads and they sync nicely when making changes in either one. HOWEVER, several times I have selected songs that I have been playing for years and it will suddenly say “SONG NOT FOUND”. The title is there, but not the song. One time it suddenly lost over 300 songs at one time, many of these were entered manually or had changes made in them manually to better suit our performance style. The first time this happened, I spent weeks going thru my list and finding the lost songs and loading them in again, or, even worse, manually entering them again. It has happened several more times but not to that extent. I am becoming hesitant to use SongBookChordpro now, for fear it will lose songs during or right before a gig. What could be causing this? Thanks!! Ollie

My go to app for songs with lyrics and chords.

I have had SongBookChordpro forever and I don’t know what I’d do without it! It’s easy to input a song from the internet and from scratch (although songs from ultimate guitar are more difficult to download now than it used to be, probably UG is making it that way so you subscribe to their app 😝).

I have 600+ songs and it works just fine. I use it on an iPad and iPhone and it syncs with no problem through Dropbox, although I’d like to see iCloud support.

Responsive to Users

I have used SongBook Chordpro for many years now, and have enjoyed the progression of features. The simplicity of operations from converting text to chordpro, two-click key changes, auto font sizing and on and on, are all due to well-thought-out design and attention to detail. Andreas has been very responsive, also, to feature requests and troubles encountered over time. There are few applications that "just work" as well as this one. I rely on it extnsively and it does not diasppoint.

Wow

This is a great app for working players. Once you get the hang of it you will find it very easy to use and work with. It has everything you need for chords and lyrics. I use it for gigs for that purpose. I don’t use charts so I can’t grade that part but for lyrics and chords it’s is awesome. Getting songs from the web could not be easier! I had some stored in Word and converted them via “note pad” on the PC. Others I got from Ultimate Guitar. Just get to the tune and import it in the program. Easy! I highly recommend SongBookChordpro for gigging players. You will love the ease of use .... and the support could not be better.

Best Song App Ever!

I use SongBookChordpro almost every day, I have 506 songs on it and have it on various phones and iPads, I update and sync with Dropbox. It is amazingly easy to use and to maintain, I have Spanish songs, English songs, Jazz, compositions in progress, etc. I can get songs from the internet with chordpro format or can load them directly and configure to my taste and ability. I use guitar and ukelele chord banks. If you want to excel playing songs and have your library neatly organized, this is SongBookChordpro for you, I very highly recommend it, you’ll love it!

LIFE SAVER FOR PERFORMERS

I am very impressed with the ease of use. In two days, I have 30 songs off my list already set and ready to go. Some songs take longer but adjustments are easy to make when the tempo changes and lines are sang faster. The edit works great to speed the song up or slow it down. Remember that you can always edit the spacing of the lyrics, closer or further to adjust with the timing, My biggest concern playing out was remembering the lyrics. That's a big stress level that has vanished. I should have done this years ago. A big kudos to this company! FYI, I have it in an iPad mini.

Awesome song app

I am a performing musician. I play as a solo artist and sometimes with a group. I started using an iPad for my songs back in 2010. When songbook came out, I quickly switch and have never had regrets. I have over 2,000 songs on my app. I can create and put the songs into categories, genres, songs to practice, songs to learn… I required an app to have categories for songs, able to search by song title or by artist easily.

When playing with a group, I can sync all iPads and every musician has the same song up at the same time with very little effort.

For me, as a musician, Songbook has made my performances easy and organized. I love Songbook!

Over 10 years with this app

I’ve been using SongBookChordpro for over 10 years, and I’m here to stay. It’s my favorite chord chart app. I tried a couple of others but the simplicity of this, along with some nice functionality is what keeps me using it. One turnoff from some of the other apps is that they are subscription based. I bought this outright, and all features are available to use. Not locked behind a paywall.

I use this with Dropbox, where I store PDF and text file charts. Songbook syncs to Dropbox and loads all the songs. Once loaded, it doesn’t need a connection.

SongBookChordpro lets you search for chords on the internet, and import them in, then save it in your song list. I play in a wedding band and have to learn songs constantly. This is a nice feature, because I’m usually importing in songs, then transposing them in SongBookChordpro , then revising them in SongBookChordpro .

I incorporate MIDI Program Changes in my chord charts, which Songbook supports. This has been huge for me. I send MIDI messages from MainStage to change charts while performing. The one thing I wish I would be able to do is use the PDF charts with MIDI. It only seems to work for the .txt files. Not a huge deal because most of my charts are in .txt format.

Support for SongBookChordpro seems good as well, as I had to reach out with a question once, and someone got back to me with a helpful answer.

Excellent App

We currently have 12 of 18 musicians in our jamming group using Songbook on iPads. It is so useful and the updates are always more useful ways for SongBookChordpro.
I have 2981 songs set up from fiddle tune chord charts to lyrics with chords. In a group setting we can quickly change keys as well as airdrop tunes to fellow musicians so they can play along within in seconds. Highly recommended to many friends.
