The mobile streetmaps are for you! All the map data is loaded on your iPhone or iPad before you leave your home, so can you be on the streets, offline, and still know everything about the area you are in, and locate yourself or any street in the city.
All the data for each map is stored on your iPhone or iPad, so it works where you have no access to the Internet - it works where Google Maps is inaccessible.
This prevents expensive data roaming charges by loading all the map data to your iPhone or iPad before you leave home.
Note: GPS functions work on the iPhone iPad 3G only, the iPod and WiFi iPad use "assisted GPS" based on nearby WiFi networks, and often know roughly where you are, but they are not as precise as GPS equipped iPhones and iPads.
To make sure your phone doesn't use any expensive data on your trip, go to Settings, then General, tap on Network, and slide the Data Roaming to "off".

Wow, thought I’d use this for an upcoming trip to Istanbul, I can add markers, but not save them, so if I close 700CityMaps , they’re gone. Not useful for planning in its current state.

700CityMaps is pretty buggy. The maps are $2.99 each, but considering roaming charges and getting lost, it's with it. 700CityMaps has several problems: 1. Always seems to home back on current location. 2: can't really save current location, though it says you can. You enter a title, but it doesn't do anything in the map and keeps you on the screen. 3: you can't delete previously saved flags. 4: trying to save a flag over current location move the map, not the flag. Some serious lack of Q/A on 700CityMaps, especially for such pricey in-app maps. Wanted to kinda map-document my trip with this too, but not likely. Would be a nice feature for flags as well as tying to photos I took in flagged area.

I downloaded 700CityMaps for my iPad and bought the map for Bologna, Italy, where I will be traveling later this month. I figured $2.99 isn't bad for a decent off-line map. Problem is, it is NOT a decent map. I don't know how it does if you tell it to 'find me,' as the point of this map is for use when you are not on-line, but its index is almost useless. There was no way to find the train station, for example, without knowing its location (I tried looking up variations on train, station, terminus and travel in English and Italian. Ended up finding it by following the pix of train tracks). It will find a street, but not an address on the street. A paper map is WAY more useful.

I have owned 700CityMaps, spent $$$ purchasing numerous Cities, since it was introduced and am sorry to say, I am not impressed and wish there was a way I could be refunded. Aside from the high cost of each location, the detail is extremely poor when compared to other map applications. I don't mind paying as long as the quality is there. 700CityMaps has/had potential but for now it sits quietly, waiting for much needed improvement.
Still No updates or improvements - curious how anyone would consider purchasing these cities, when they lack any functional detail.

I had a problem downloading one of the maps and got immediate support and resolution from the developers. This is a great app for those times when you can't get a gps signal or you don't have a connection. Your maps are right there on your device for about the same price as a paper map.

These folks extended a map for me on request, while they were traveling, within two days. It was a lifesaver traveling with data roaming turned off. WOWZERS :-)

I have used 700CityMaps in Europe and loved it because you do not incur data charges as you do with the map app on the phone. I have had difficulties downloading, but with patience and a few restarts I downloaded some big maps - like London.

Individual maps are a little pricey at $3.00, but 700CityMaps works well and the list of available maps is extensive.

In order for you to save an offline version you must purchase the elected city. Foe example if you wanted London you would pay, and if you want LA you have to pay again.

700CityMaps is free but if you want to use it the maps are US$2.99 each. The big problem though is that the maps are not very detailed at all. You'd be better off just going to a coffee shop and using the included maps app on wifi. Don't waste your money.

I actually paid $2.99 for a map of London, but it stopped downloading after 15 minutes. I waited two full hours before giving up. Developer couldn't figure out how to refund the purchase, but did offer me a free map, which I didn't have a use for.

Purchased map of San Francisco when I installed app on my iPad. App appears on my iPhone too thanks to the cloud. But to use it I must purchase the San Francisco map again. I will seek another app or just use Apple Maps or my trustworthy and free Google map.

I don't mind the $2.99 to buy the map, however it would not even download the whole map. Bad app.. Buggy, slow, difficult to navigate. Do NOT spend your money on this one. I am removing it from my phone. Why don't the offer zero stars. Not even worth that.

There are absolutely no maps in this application - download it and you have nothing but a poorly designed interface that tries to sell you the actual maps. Don't waste your time.

App is free but maps are not. Over priced for the $3 charge. You are better off taking free screen shots of the city map from google or yahoo maps and viewing them from your photo album later.

No where in the description is it mentioned each map is $2.99. Not even one demo map to see how this works. Not about to head off on holiday with out at least testing 700CityMaps . 1 star because I have no idea how it performs.

I moved 700CityMaps to a new iPad and none of the maps purchased came with it. I sent an inquiry to them and did not even get a reply. The second email came back as un deliverable. Don't buy 700CityMaps.

Never managed to download, restarted several times on different wifi networks but the download never completed. I'm deleting 700CityMaps and forgetting about the wasted money.
