You would think that paying for a subscription would exempt you from popup ads, but no, you get them anyway. I don't mind the regular ads, like in the daily newspaper (I actually like them!) but the popups are intolerable. I suspended my subscription. For those who need help, you cancel your subscription on an iPad by pushing the subscription manage button on your iTunes profile (you get to it by scrolling to the bottom of, say, the music page and pushing the button with you apple id). You then flip a switch to suspend the subscription. You still have the option to resubscribe (unless you remove the repubblica app.) I will not subscribe again if the popups don't go away.

The new version of laRepubblica is designed as a deliberate step back. It often does not open properly (main problem), it is difficult to navigate, and confusing. They took a perfectly good app and ruined it. I am indignant! What are they thinking? Do not subscribe until a new app is develop to fix these bugs.

I love this application, it can be just the way one will read newspapers in the near future.
I used to read La Repubblica on paper. Stopped a few years ago and now I can have it on my Ipad again! I will be willing to pay if the price is right...don't make mistakes there.

I gave version 1 only two stars. Ver. 1.1 improves the reading experience considerably. Still slow download, but once it is done navigation is faster. Tapping once on an article presents a floating windows with the text more readable. Occasional (but rare) crashes. Ads a little annoying but not too much. Overall it is useable. I have been reading the "newspaper" for over an hour with great pleasure. Now I hope the the cost of the subscription will not be too high.

Way too slow. It systematically makes my iPad crash.
I wonder whether a paper-like reproduction is actually a good idea. You end up downloading a huge file (it takes more than 2 minutes ) and have a very limited (old media) content.

The full paper version should be an alternative way of browsing the paper, not the main one. Make repubblica tv and all the videos available to iPad, right now are flash based. If you really want people to subscribe, you need to provide much more content than a browsable version of the news paper.

I disagree with a former reviewer. I'd rather wait a bit and get a real newspaper on my screen. If I am in a hurry, I can just check out their web site instead.

laRepubblica is so disappointing. It is not easy to navigate, has recurring pop-up ads, and, most importantly, has absolutely no sharing functions. In general, I'm used to being able to send articles to email, Twitter and FB (at least), but here this is just impossible. I'd rather read Repubblica on the web instead.

I just love it. I am so proud of laRepubblica. I hope soon also American journals will provide such a great free service.

One time in two when downloading last 4/5 pages are missing and there is no way retrieve them afterwards.
Also worst customer service ever: I wrote to them twice about this and they never even replied!

It's a great app, but the audio does not work in this new version... please fix!!!

20 euro/month subscription + fullscreen adverts for the iPad + adverts that you get in the PDF of the paper. Too much!

Lenta nel passare da una pagina all’altra, frequenti crash e una intollerabile quantità di pubblicità irritante. Poi non si capisce perché quando si riapre la app non si riprenda a leggere dove si è lasciato. Pressreader funziona meglio, perché non la copiate?

Non riconosce gli abbonamenti e il modulo per reclamare non funziona … non ho parole voglio indietro i miei soldi dell’abbonamento!!!

Premetto che adoro questa applicazione, che ha per me totalmente soppiantato la versione cartacea di Repubblica. Mi piace soprattutto il fatto di avere accesso a quotidiano, edizioni locali, ed allegati (incluso R7) in una sola applicazione. Detto questo, la nuova versione è estremamente lenta in partenza e alquanto instabile. Solo stamattina mi è morta due volte mentre leggevo il giornale...

Ho anche un commento più generale sulle pubblicità pop-up: pago l'abbonamento, il quotidiano contiene pubblicità... è veramente necessario avere anche un pop-up ogni due per tre? Confesso che sono stato tentato di cancellare l'abbonamento quando l'ennesima pubblicità ha interrotto la mia lettura, e non è detto che non lo faccia in futuro.

Pessimo update, lento, instabile. Impossibile ora leggere off-line - ma La Repubbica non sa che molte persone non hanno accesso online costante? Rimpiango la versione precedente di Repubblica on line.

Oppure mi continua a chiedere di scaricarla. Per ora non importa, ma minacciano di chiudere la vecchia applicazione

All’improvviso ho perso tutti i numeri nell’archivio, anche se il contatore mostra che l’app sta usando 19.89 GB della memoria dell’iPad!

1) la voce di lettura degli articoli è orribile. Lo schermo non rimane attivo e la lettura si interrompe quando questo si spegne. Non è possibile riprendere da dove si vuole.
Se avevo tempo per guardare lo schermo e tenerlo attivo tanto valeva leggerlo.
2) Non è possibile selezionare il testo dell’articolo magari oer un copia e incolla o oer una ricerca linguistica o su google.
3) la funzionalità Pdf dove l’avete nascosta?
4) Se pago per tutti gli inserti e allegati perché leggo il “venerdì” ma non posso leggere “l’Espresso “

Se i coder sono scarsi, copiassero dall’app del New York Times.

Ps. Oggi per due ore il giornale non era leggibile e il pulsante “leggi” non dava luogo a nessuna azione.

Sarebbe stato bello non dover avere gli ads anche su un'applicazione pagata un carico di soldi.
Oltre le pubblicità già presenti nell'edizione cartacea, i lettori di Repubblica su iPad devono sorbirsi anche gli ads e i pop up fastidiosi che a tradimento il gruppo editoriale L'Espresso ha voluto propinarci, come se fossimo come gli occasionali usufruitori del sito di Repubblica e che non sembra possibile disattivare. La differenza, ripeto, è che che qui si pagano bei soldi per questo abbonamento.
La cosa non mi rende pienamente soddisfatto, e credo di non esser l'unico.
Per il resto, meglio leggere un'edizione più simile alla cartacea dell'edizione online, troppo dispersiva.

Ottimo! Ho alzato il rate a 4 stelle perché la versione 1.2 ha risolto la lentezza che caratterizzava la versione 1.1. Bravi!
