I’m 35 weeks pregnant and I’d been using BabyNames to keep track of our shortlist for names since I found out I was pregnant. It worked fine for several months. Opened BabyNames after the most recent update and it immediately crashed. I’ve tried multiple times and gotten the same result—BabyNames won’t even load. No way to contact developers and it looks like I’m not the only person with this problem based on reviews.

So now I’m a month out from delivery and I have to redo my list. Really regretting not taking a screencap, but honestly, there should be more safeguards in place to preserve users’ lists.

I was hoping to find some nice names by origin... I’m extremely disappointed to see that all the Italian names are completely misspelled and many don’t even exist (or the spelling is so crappy that I can’t even understand which name they refer to)! I can tell just because I’m Italian, I know more or less most names and I know that our alphabet don’t have y J k or x letters! But someone that wants to call his/her kid with an Italian/french/wherever name need to be sure to have the right spelling please!

It is repetitive, it shows different ways to spell the same name. In the Spanish origin section I found it is limited and incorrect for some names; for example Juan comes up in the girls names, when it should be Juana (female version of Juan). Also happens with Jose, where the female version would be Josefa or Josefina.

In conclusion, names need to be added for specific searches under origins; and more importantly, organization and accuracy need to be improved for your app to be as helpful as it is advertised.

Fun place to get name ideas, but it doesn’t have a user-friendly interface. My biggest confusion comes from the “you might also like” suggestions which usually have nothing to do with the name currently on the screen. Also, many names don’t have the meaning, which is the main reason I have for looking names up.
Note that there are also lots of full-screen (not just in-line) ads that you have to wait to click out of, which is also quite annoying. Fun app if you have the patience for ads and having to look up name meanings elsewhere.

BabyNames is awesome, I actually have had it for about 2 years now. I use it all the time for any and all names, but the reason I only gave it 4 stars is because, they haven’t updated it! It tells you how many kids were born in a year with that name. That is one of my most favorite parts! So please, update this! Thank you.

My favorite baby name book ever is the Baby Name Wizard. I got BabyNames because it seems to be BabyNames version/ companion to that book. Some features that I love that they share: popularity trends, meanings, origins, style categories. What BabyNames is missing that the book has: suggested sibling names, popularity charts through time. Some features I think would improve BabyNames : a better filter system, more comprehensive list, more names tagged for style categories. Still my favorite name app though!

I've been using BabyNames for almost a year, I have an 8 month old and I'm expecting another baby this June; I picked my first's name on here! The origin and descriptions are great. Anyway, lately BabyNames has been repeatedly crashing on me which is annoying... I think it happens due to the ads trying to open. So if that gets fixed I'll be happy again but right now I'm just gonna have to use another app 🫤

BabyNames actually works for more than its intended purpose and I probably should find a different app that’s similar, but for what I’m actually using it for, but it’s kind of disappointing that I can’t find any names that are Ukrainian, I know, “disappointed in an app for not having names from one region? Seriously?” but an app like this one should have names from everywhere and I do mean everywhere.

Don’t usually review. Don’t usually see much utility with most apps I download. This one though, I had been playing with for about a month. Just perusing the different aspects of it. Saving names and checking origins and dbl checking them with other resources. Then.... I ran outta time. A short months time later, My son was born, Healthy, Beautiful & in desperate need of a name. So with it being down to the wire and we being in the process of getting ready to leave the hospital. I pulled out BabyNames. In less than 10 minutes and the added weight of time and money bearing on us. Me & my wife decided a name as painlessly as pulling off a wet Bandaid. Go figure. Hello! This is my step-by-step review.
Sometimes I’m bored and just want something to do. And BabyNames is entertaining. First of all, I don’t see anything wrong with it! These are the EXACT steps when I open it.
I search a name.
A ad comes up.
I click the x button and it takes me to the search I wanted.
There is NO constant ads, no glitches or crashes. It think the other reviews are the problem with the device.
I like BabyNames because: it gives good information about the names,:it is very EASY to use!! And I understand if BabyNames has ads.
So, overall. BabyNames is fun, cool, and I recommend it😊!!!

BabyNames has had an extensive- and diverse-enough selection for my naming uses for the past 4 or so years. It’s never crashed, it’s not that hard to figure out how to use it, and personally, I don’t mind the ads. Thumbs up from this user.

I love BabyNames and I realize that everyone needs adds in order to make their product, well, productive on their part. Yet I am extremely grateful that someone would take the time to organize all of these names and it is certainly useful in so many ways!

I live in BabyNames! I love that I can keep track of my favorites and reorder them, put my last name or a middle name on them so I can see how it looks and sounds. It gives a brief name description which is perfect. Love BabyNames and am using it again to name a 3rd baby 🤍

This is a nice name app, I haven't found a name that wasn't in it. It has the origins of the name and the meaning(most of the time). It also has has how to pronounce the names, but that's basically a joke. You'll have all of that if you pay for the 1.99 update. If you don't, then all you have is names. No definitions. Not Free!

I really do enjoy BabyNames, I use it to find names for characters in my stories and have been pleased by it. It has a large database of names that you can search using a mix of filters including rarity, length, and meaning. Overall I recommend it, since I’ve found it to be better than the myriad of baby-naming websites I’ve used in the past.

I like BabyNames because it provides a great variety of names, while other apps I’ve tried have a limited amount of options. I also like that it gives you many ideas for different ways to spell the names. BabyNames also allows you to add your own name options to your favorites.

I like all the different and convenient ways you can use BabyNames to search for a name and meaning. When choosing a name it can definitely be overwhelming so being able to break things down and sort through by preference means making it easier onus to choose the perfect name.

I like to write from time to time and I play a whole lot of Sims, so BabyNames is extremely useful for coming up with names for my sims or book characters. I also love the fact that there's different lists because sometimes you have an idea of what kind of name you'd like but not the name itself and its perfect for situations like that!

The only star it's missing is when you add a name, you can't add the origin and other details. Other than that I'd love to be able to have a few different middle names (certain first names go better with a different middle name). Besides those two items this is my favorite baby name app, and I've had quite a few! Love the origin organization, and pronunciation guide!

I recommend BabyNames to everyone whenever I hear them taking about names. I am an author and I love the different categories that BabyNames provides as well as being able to search by letter, origin, or meaning because sometimes a character just *feels* like a T name.
I was a little disappointed when they added advertisements, but they are not too annoying and I definitely understand. I love being able to favorite an unlimited amount of names and look back on them.

Okay... So I’m way too young to worry about having children but it just so happens that I’m really good at coming up with my own original characters but I’m really terrible at naming them. BabyNames is extremely useful when it comes to naming babies, characters, pets, Heck, maybe I might even use it to name my plants. This is multi purposed app in my eyes. 😸😸😸
