IDW Digital Comics Experience Reviews

[Context: The dedicated MLP Comics app has been discontinued. Users are forced to migrate to this conglomerate app with multiple series from IDW. It appears the makers of the old app did not work on this one]
My 50 or so MLP comics are no longer sorted into folders/sub-series.🤦‍♂️ The books are not even chronological or sorted in any obvious way.
It’s absurd that a persistent internet connection is required, where in the old app you could download for offline reading.
Actual page turning is super janky and doesn’t support landscape orientation on iPad Pro. The UI just looks pretty bad on the large iPad Pro btw.
(Why is there even an option to delete your entire account & all history of purchases right there in the sidebar? Some kid is going to hit that accidentally).
Furthermore, I did not ask for junk from your other IP’s/series to be added in to my library(Star Trek, Sonic the Hedgehog). I’m only interested in My Little Pony. Thanks.
If the page turning mechanics don’t get better, I will re-purchase my full collection directly from the publishers website as EPUB files- and load them into Apple Books. I have already done this for a few.
Don’t know why the official app doesn’t offer EPUB. I can also load EPUB’s on to my eReader. I don’t mind the loss of color.

The pages in the books that I read have a hard time loading, I have a difficult time just trying to touch the help button for hopefully a better reading experience, but unfortunately, it’s just instructions on how to navigate through pages and zoom in and out. The pages should all be instantly loaded up and ready to read, but IDW just decided to make it a chore just to read one book. That is just sad and pathetic. If it weren’t for the fact that all the comic books apps like TMNT, Transformers, and Star Trek found their new home, or as I call it their new Alcatraz, I wouldn’t come to IDWDigitalComicsExperience. The fact is if you can’t make the IDW app good, then you shouldn’t be messing with the comic book reading experience.

I have one major complaint: one of my comics, Tangle and Whisper appears corrupted and mostly replaced with Sonic the Hedgehog: All or nothing. Only the last few pages of Tangle and Whisper are there after the All or nothing book ends.

The reader is absolute garbage. There’s two views, all the way out to full page or halfway zoomed onto the page. Give us a variable zoom, so that the whole thing can fit on the screen and I can actually read it. Also impossible to find what I’m looking for through my purchases. Come on, I know that IDWDigitalComicsExperience was a desperate last minute thing but holy is it not good. I can’t even turn the page on landscape mode without half the page being up above my screen.

I’ve been trying to transfer my son’s purchases to the new app and nothing seems to work. We sent a message to their listed email account and it bounced as undeliverable. So the transfer doesn’t work and you can’t reach them for support!? Very disappointed and that leaves us out of pocket $ for a handful of purchases. Very poor customer experience.

I have been trying to log in to IDWDigitalComicsExperience and the main site. Every time i get a prompt to change password so i follow and it changes nothing. I have emailed for help and have heard nothing back. The faq link is broken. It has been months and I've sent multiple requests for help to idw. So dont expect any help from them if you are haveing problems.

Difficult to transfer my comic books over to this new app. For whatever reason, after restarting IDWDigitalComicsExperience , restarting my phone, I cannot purchase new apps. The User Interface is difficult to navigate and IDWDigitalComicsExperience takes a long time to load.

Love idw but they dont love IDWDigitalComicsExperience cant organize purchases. Sonic never releases when says they will been waiting for over 2 months for issue 47.

IDWDigitalComicsExperience is so buggy. First you wait weeks for comics to finally be uploaded, then when you try to click buy on them NOTHING HAPPENS. Tried on more than one device too. IDW just does not want me to read Beast Wars.

The view which is supposed to show my previous purchases crashes IDWDigitalComicsExperience . Buy button doesn’t work. The new app is the same garbage that it replaced. Lowest bidder development work.

UI is horrible, can’t download books for offline reading, no organization at all with purchased books, app is not auto sizing to screen correctly, no landscape view... I could go on.

I’m excited to read comics but there is no page slider/table of contents menu. It’s impossible to quickly get to a page or even start a comic from the beginning

I was really disappointed with this update . The way the comics are organized could be far better , some of my comics that I bought from the older update got deleted , and just the design of the menus , etc . could use improvement . There are motion comics ( however this would be a great edition if you had the option to turn it off . One good thing however with IDWDigitalComicsExperience is that you get some free comics but even with that I was still disappointed. I think I'd rather read a physical copy of some comics instead . Also there is no panel to panel scrolling like in previous version which is my biggest complaint about IDWDigitalComicsExperience overall . Without panel to panel scrolling it makes it hard to enjoy reading a comic . Really disappointed. If fixed I will rate a higher amount of stars to IDWDigitalComicsExperience but for now 2 .

None of my TMNT comics transferred over. I tried contacting IDW, but they never responded. Apparently they only care about taking your money instead of taking care of the customers. I’d give this zero stars if I could!!

Please fix or give refunds. IDWDigitalComicsExperience has been non functional for at least a few weeks now.

An unlimited monthly viewing option would be nice.

What the heck? No guided view is sort of a show stopper. I was surprised IDWDigitalComicsExperience doesn’t have it.

IDWDigitalComicsExperience is useless. You go to My Library and you can’t view comics by title, it’s all single issues.

I can’t get my old purchases and I can’t buy new stuff please fix this is ridiculous.

I love IDW’s comics. And I’m glad that IDWDigitalComicsExperience is a great digital recourse for all my Transformers and G.I. Joe comic needs. But the store is kinda messy with no easily accessed series pages for the newer series when you go to the alphabetical library. A lot of the more recent issues are considered stand alone issues rather than a part of the series they’re in. And many times I have purchased a comic and downloaded it only to find that it disappeared from my library and required me to get the comic again as a free download. Yes it didn’t ask me to pay twice but it still failed to recognize the new comic as being in my library the first time. I love IDWDigitalComicsExperience but these flaws definitely need addressing.

For some odd reason and this happened suddenly yesterday or the day before for me but I keep getting error each time the comic loads, at first I thought it was me but all my other friends said The same thing is happening to them too, its with every single comic not just one,

Please fix IDWDigitalComicsExperience please!

You don’t even need a flashlight any more! With the backlit screen, I can read comics anytime I can’t sleep! And I can keep reading on nights the sandman eludes me!

IDWDigitalComicsExperience allows you to buy and read comics digitally which is great, but it often comes up with ‘Error’ when you try to make a purchase. This needs to be fixed.

DO NOT BUY ANY COMICS FROM IDWDigitalComicsExperience!

For some reason when I try to restore purchases, it just gets hung up. How hard is it to do automatic cloud syncing, when even indie apps can do it?! It’s a very common feature.

I should be able to have a digital version of a book I purchased in a brink and mortar comic shop.
