Hate the new version.

I do not use the word hate lightly, but when I updated GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits, I literally thought it was a completely different app than my beloved converter. Worst. "Update". Ever. I feel like there ought to have been a warning stating that a totally different program would invade my iPad when I clicked update. The visual design is awful, and all my favorites were eliminated - and setting those over years abroad took a lot of time that the software developers just wiped out in a single update. Do not update if you can avoid it. Yuck.

Good app, repulsive monetization

GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits is very well designed and easy to use. It allows you to convert currency and various units of measurement quickly and conveniently, and the interface is clean and intuitive.

However, at some point in the last year or so (I don’t know when, exactly, because I didn’t use it for a while), it introduced video ads that interrupt you in the middle of entering a number and force you to watch 10-30 seconds of irritating, bandwidth-hungry garbage.

In other circumstances I would be happy to pay a reasonable fee, say $2-10, to remove the ads, because it is a genuinely good app. But here, my only options are an overpriced monthly subscription ($4/mo for a glorified calculator) or an absolutely preposterous $99 to buy it permanently.

This combination of ads and absurd prices led me to delete GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits entirely, and I encourage anyone reading this to find something different; nothing GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits offers is even close to worth the annoyance and/or expense it demands (even though GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits itself is actually good for what it is).

Fuel consumption

I use currency and temperature conversion more than any other part of GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits . However, the fuel consumption section is completely off. Maybe formulas were not entered correctly on the newest version. It did work properly on the previous version.

A few months ago the fuel consumption section of GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits was not working properly. I contacted support and they fixed it in short order. I love GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits and use it more than any other app in my iPhone.

Very nice

I just paid for GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits, coming from Vert S, which is a good app, but not as accurate as I’d like. Overall I’m happy with the layout and accuracy of GlobeConvert. I’d like to see a dark mode using true black though, any chance of adding this? Doing a currency conversion in a dimly lit restaurant while being blinded by the vibrant white of GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits can be a downer.

Also, is it possible to do abbreviations for the units? Having everything written out, especially in the favorites, seems a bit redundant.

Just a few changes and I think this could be a stellar app.

Global Convert

As a world news watcher in the US, I use Global Convert to figure meters to feet, pounds to dollars, etc etc for all the conversions to&from our numerics and the metric system (mostly metric, but there are occasionally others). And yes, I do know that I should simply complete the promise of learning the metric system I continue to make to myself, but procrastination runs deep. So, until I do overcome my nasty habit of delay, I thank you, Global Convert, for helping to place our world’s happenings a bit more in context!

New version inconveniences

GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits was great before the huge makeover it had during one of the updates. I’ve gotten used to the new version, but lately it’s been having a lot of “updates” notifications popping up whenever I open GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits (almost on a daily basis) which is getting annoying. In addition, the new version no longer has a “C” button to “clear” the number typed in previously in one touch. You have to “backspace” each number to clear the number and type a new one. Minor, but more convenient, like in the previous version.

They are all falling

Like many apps over the years, it looks like this one has fallen prey to big business advertising. You can do in app banner ads without having to take us away from the main reason we use GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits . Typically GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits would be used for a quick 30 second conversion. I do give it 2 stars because it has great functions. But you can literally have a good page open in Safari to do the same thing.

Sadly after 4-5 years of using GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits, I now need to drop it. The delivery method of ads have rendered basically useless. Oh well. Corporate greed strikes again.

Great reference

I have used global converter on many overseas trips and refer to it regularly. Whether I need to get a handle on the local currency, the weather or measurements, I get the conversion in a few clicks. Obviously, an internet connection is required for currency conversion as rates can change anytime, but everything else works beautifully without a connection. A must have for every overseas trip!

Good customer service

I’m changing my original post for two reasons, they did try to help me with my issues. Although I didn’t understand it and still opted for a different app. But it was nice of them to try. But also editing my review because they shamed me into it by telling me it wasn’t nice of me to write the last review. I visually didn’t like it, I wrote about my honest experience with it. I didn’t understand why they told me to press and hold currency. But I updated my review anyway...so they’re happy.

Used to be amazing but intrinsic values are wrong for many measurements, now

GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits used to be amazing. The design is still great. That’s why I’m giving it two stars. However, numerous values are now off, such as the US cup, fluid ounce, and some other volume measures, as well. I haven’t checked the non-volume measures, but I would be worried they might be off, too, which makes me not want to use GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits until it is fixed, because I can’t trust the output values it gives me. Please fix this, and I will gladly come back to using GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits. In the meantime, I’m going to have to find something else to use.

Not accurate for currency

Though the currency converter tells you the conversion rate, it doesn’t actually match. I am dollars and cents off. It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but I was using this to help with the expense report for an international move. So had I not checked this sheet against our credit card statement we literally would have lost hundreds of dollars. I wouldn’t trust GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits for currency conversion. It is okay if you kind of want a ballpark range. But at that point you should be able to just do that in your head.

I’ve used this for USD to NOK, Euro, and GBP

Last one was better.

I had a Convert (yellow)for some years. Yesterday GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits Store asked me to updated and change it for this one called Global Convert. It doesn't show when the currency was updated. It's not accurate. Shows different rate with other converters apps. What happened? I want the one before. I want to know the time and date that the rate was updated.

Needs a small addition

I love GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I would like to see an update that includes a picture of the currency abbreviations beside the country it belongs to. That would be super helpful and make GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits really easy to use. As of now when I see a monetary abbreviation on a website or otherwise, I have to research what country it belongs to on google and THEN use GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits to convert. Help us, developers!

Perfect currency converter, just works

Love the interface, so handy when I’m traveling abroad. I like that it uses your location to recommend the currency. In my opinion you get perfect functionality without needing to purchase anything and you don’t see any ads in the main currency conversion view anyways

Love This App Until

I love using GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits and used it daily until the most recent update. I can no longer open GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits at all. As soon as I tap the button to launch GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits , a light grayish green coloration of GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits shows for two seconds before crashing. There is no text or anything, GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits force closes before it even opens.

Very useful app

I love having so many different types of measurement conversions in one app, especially currency and temperature since I frequently travel internationally. I'm also impressed with Levgenii's customer service. I filled out the Send us Feedback form due to a currency conversion issue and he replied by email within 5 minutes. I preferred the old UI before the latest update but overall I'm very pleased with GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits.

Clunky Version

What bothers me with this version is that you added a lot of stuff that most people don't need or use (like Kelvin) and that when I want to convert from C to F I have to change one to Kelvin in order to change the other one. In other words, I find I have to take more steps to do a simple conversion because GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits is complicated with more features than an average person needs. I like the older version better because I could do things faster.

Super User-Friendly

I used it during my time in Israel and now on my trip to Thailand. It converts instantly and has an option to save your favorite most-used conversions. There is a toggle to switch back and forth which is also handy. It’s updates since the last time I traveled made it even more user-friendly!

Global converter

This is a fantastic tool, especially for us baby boomers who were never taught anything about the metric system in school.
I don’t understand why the USA is having to learn and use this ridiculous difficult absurd half as- method of measurement.
But thank you for providing this most excellent app.

Kinda useful, but promotes misunderstanding

Im GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits the symbol for energy is a lightbulb and the symbol for power is a battery with bars showing it half full. This is backwards and it bothers me a lot because it perpetuates a misunderstanding of the difference between the two measurements. A battery display with bars shows the remaining -energy- contained within it, a 100w lightbulb uses 100w of -power-. If these symbols would be switched I’d give GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits 4 stars because it’s otherwise pretty good, could use more conversions and more units for each.

Amazing conversion app!

I've been using GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits for the last 3 years and they've made an update! Which is why I'm writing this review now. GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits is super handy for those of you who like to see how to convert money if you are going to be traveling, or if you are measuring something out to cook/bake. I personally love GlobeConvertCurrencyUnits! Keep up the good work! :)
